Nutmegs in East Riding of Yorkshire

Visited here with Mum last Monday. Mum had some sort of coffee and I had the mint hot chocolate and my mint hot chocolate was lovely. Staff are always friendly and are ready to serve you when you are ready. We didn’t have any food as it was a quick visit but they do offer a wide range of sweet and savoury food and a range of cakes also.

Lovely food, you cannot fault it. Just a shame they were a bit cold.towards me. I don't know why, I was always polite. I will go again, maybe they just had a bad day.

Had 2 gorgeous ham sandwiches freshly prepared with salad and coleslaw.it was proper ham washed down with tea.The cakes look to die for and everyone was raving about the meals put in front of them.Customers are made to feel special and come out with a smile

I had to leave a review for anyone wanting to taste a pie or cake that will remind them of baking as it tasted in their childhood this is it....Fresh high quality ingredients. generous portions. No preservatives . And baked traditionally. This is just perfect . And would stand up against any Michelin menu... when quality ingredients are cooked this well, simplicity is key . Well done.

Visited on 3/10 after being recommended by my uncle. Could not believe the ridiculous mixed reviews. Having worked with food for several years, I’ve a fair knowledge on pricings etc. Multiple silly reviews on portions, pricing etc. £7 for a full English of nice quality, minimal wait time, and decent portions. Absolutely no complaints, will be back!

We went in for two all day breakfasts at £7 a piece I was shocked when the plates arrived one very small egg 2 bits of bacon 2 sausages and couple of spoonfuls of beans and a tiny half tomato we had asked for no mushrooms no alternative was offered, I thought oh well hopefully it’s really tasty and makes up for the price and small portion, unfortunately not sausages tasted cheap frozen type and bacon was thick and tasteless. I think the staff are well aware of the quality or lack of quality as at no point was we asked if we was happy with the food but they couldn’t wait for us to be finished and get our money and out of there £19.20 for two tiny breakfasts and two coffees will not be going back and definitely wouldn’t recommend also no option for a larger breakfast or to add additional extras and doesn’t actually state on menu the quantity of what you get.

I had my usual salmon and new potatoes and veg with cheese sauce beautiful, my hubby had meat pie it said it was delicious. Staff lovely and the cafe is lovely and clean. Thank you.

My friend and I travelled from Withernsea to Hedon to sit in "our favourite secret garden"at Nutmegs with my two dogs. Sadly we were turned away as "the tables weren't being set up outside, and the dogs weren't allowed in". The tables were already outside. This was on a dry day in January. Feeling rather put out we went up the road to"Chatty Couch". Unaware of our treatment at Nutmegs, she couldn't do enough for us, fetching a table out of storage for us to sit round the back. Dogs are also welcome inside at Chatty Couch. Dog owners beware, don't assume you'll always be welcome at Nutmegs.

Not a very good breakfast snotty egg bacon undercooked and tinned mushrooms £6 and extra £1.75 for tea x

Had lunch with my daughter and it was lovely, the only thing was my daughter's chips were over done other wise would have given 5

Never lets us down, we took our Granddaughter with us this time and she really likes the cafe. My husband had the meat pie and veg. I had salmon and veg and our Granddaughter had beans and egg on toast. All was cook to perfection, the staff are lovely and can’t do enough to make sure you enjoy your meal.

Nice breakfast nice little place with a nice waitress Fresh food and the cakes looked nice Only shame is wasn’t dog friendly but is like to take my mins for afternoon tea here when I’m next in the area

We rang up and booked a table, you can just turn up, we ordered our meal when we booked, we didn’t have to Wait long and our food was delicious, my husband had the meat pie and I had the salmon. The staff are lovely. Will definitely be back. Thank you Nutmeg.

Called in at 2.15 for a quick coffee before lockdown. There were people still in as it was closing at 3. I only wanted a coffee and was met at the door with you can't come in there's nothing left, we are closing.. There was clearly cakes left if I'd wanted some and coffee doesn't take a minute. I have used Nutmehs periodically over the years but would seriously think again next time.

We just popped in for a drink and decided to have something to eat, so pleased we did, we had the salmon, new potatoes and veg with cheese sauce it was delicious. Will be back. Thank you.

SOOOOO.... Myself & my partner visited for the second time today for lunch. We both ordered Hunters Chicken (One without bacon) I honestly don't know what they think hunters chicken is BUT this definitely wasn't it. The BBQ sauce was vile & the Chicken "breast"...

We popped in for a snack as been before and it was lovely. We had the scrambled egg and mushrooms on toast, it was delicious and plenty of it. The staff are really friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Will come again.

A small cafe which was really busy the day we went. Understandably had to wait a while for our meals. Vegetables, especially broccoli was overcooked and the meal could have been hotter. Waitress fairly friendly.

Nice little coffee shop. I opted for a latte and Jaffa cake with ice-cream. We sat outside as it was a lovely sunny day.

Indifferent staff not very welcoming, food quite expensive, tea cups designed for children, didn't bother with dessert, no one asked.

Poor cheap and nasty, tea is like piss. And lamb henry is like summit from heron. But double cost.save ur money go to heron.

We visited today and chose two full english breakfasts and at £5.75 each we was very dissapointed. First of all we asked for a orange cordial and at £1 it was warm and didnt have ice then to have Herons juice on display that costs...

Always fabulous service and nice welcome. Love the second cup of coffee offered and there are some amazing cakes not for the light hearted and some fabulous meals and sandwiches. The best cafe in Hedon.

We had a great Sunday Lunch here. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. There is a great choice on the menu and something for everyone whether you want a light bite or a roast dinner. Very reasonable prices too. A bit of a hidden...

After the amazing All Day Breakfast we now go to Nutmegs on a regular basis. Have tried quite a few different meals that are on the menu and all have been well cooked and piping hot. Well done Nutmegs customer for life.

We arrived not sure where to go but this place looked so homely and friendly, cash only so we nipped to the bank, I had amazing scrambled eggs and mushrooms in toast, service was very good, and the coffee was with free too up, nice friendly staff, will be visiting again soon x

lovely friendly eating place,set over 2 levels. Great choice of food,both snacks and main meals,very friendly,helpful staff

I took my 4 year old grandson and we were served cheerfully and kindly . We had a bowl of lovely chips and a gorgeous orange cheesecake with cream . Washed down with a latte and a banana milkshake ! I have eaten here on many occasions and never been disappointed

I took 2 grandchildren aged 17 and 4 . We had toasties and a drinks . The staff were friendly and helpful . I have been many times previously with family and friends , always the same great standards. Will definitely keep going .

Have visited this little Gem many times all different days and times, I can honestly say I have never been dissapointed food is always plentiful, very well presented and delicious, top up of coffee is a bonus and requests for off menu foods are met if possible I have never been made to feel awkward asking as I have specific dietary needs. Our last visit was for Christmas lunch with carols and have booked again for next year, To round up. Excellent food, friendly helpful staff, homely atmosphere one not to be missed.

I have visited this little cafe many times and each visit have thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. It is very cosy and the service is really quick. Prices are very reasonable and a good range of food and drinks on the menu. The staff have always been friendly and helpful.

Attended the Christmas Lunch - including Christmas Carols - last Sunday. It was another fantastic occasion! The food was perfect & the staff were their usual jolly & efficient selves. Jacky, Mo, & I really love the place!!

We went here for one of their lovely Christmas meal evenings. Start to finish the food was excellent, service exceptional and the atmosphere relaxed.

Our visit to this Establishment was so bad that I thought it was all a terrible dream. While my Friend was coming, I asked for :" Two English Breakfast teas and Two Scones...fruit scones." While my Friend & I were eating these, having just requested jams as well as butters, we were presented with TWO All Day Breakfasts I had not ordered. Then in front of the whole room, I was called a Liar. I was told I had ordered two All Day English Breakfasts as well as two English Breakfast Teas. Then, quite inexcusably, the angry Waitress orchestrated the whole Room to confirm that I had indeed ordered Two full Breakfasts. Vainly I tried to explain that both TWININGS and other Tea Purveyors call their Teas : English Breakfast, in order to differentiate from Herbal or flavoured teas. This Nightmare was not only humiliating - but UNFAIR. I would NEVER deny ordering something if I had ordered it... even if the meal was delayed. I have been treated shamefully.. and am owed an immediate apology.

Been here a few times and coffee and cakes are lovely.. The seating area upstairs is nice and quaint. Its always busy so must be doing something right!!!

This welcoming cafe in Hedon's Market Place has everything, if our recent visit is anything to go by. The food - fish, chips and peas for my husband, cheese and mushroom omelette with trimmings for me - was delicious. Served by a cheery waitress in spotless, and beautifully decorated surroundings, this local treasure didn't disappoint. Service was prompt and our drinks arrived very quickly after our arrival. A welcome touch is the free top-up of coffee offered. Some scrumptious-looking cakes in a large glass cabinet tempted our tastebuds - maybe next time. There is an upstairs and an outside eating area - a quick look through the door showed several tables with umbrellas in a well-kept garden. We will definitely eat there again - in fact, we were so impressed, we have booked our Christmas dinner there. We can't wait!

Have eaten here before and found it a pleasant experience but not today, although the food was average the service was bordering on Fawlty Towers!! There was most definitely an atmosphere and one waitress told every table how fed up she was!! The lady in front of me paying was being spoken to very curtly and when it came to my turn and I gave my table number I was told in no uncertain terms that she needed to know what we had eaten as there was no chit!! (not my fault??)

Went for breakfast. The food was fine, but the service was odd & almost rude at times. Won't be rushing back. They have a garden. This was pointed out several times. Not that we even asked or cared? And don't even think about paying for your food separately. They would only accept one payment even though as friends we were paying individually. It was an odd experience.

Called in this morning whilst waiting for a later appointment, greeted by cheerfull member of staff, offered a table either inside or in the garden. Selected the garden and was most surprised at the pleasant outlook at the rear of the premises. Two coffees arrived very quickly and was even more impressed when a waitress came around and asked if we would like a "top up". Unable to comment on the food available but was certainly impressed with the service etc received on our visit.

Visited here many times. My last visit was for a quick coffee and a bite to eat. Ordered a bacon sandwich and it was lovely. Nutmegs is very popular and always busy. The menu is very nice and the cakes they do are lovely.

Called midweek for coffee and scone OK---sweeping the stairs when eating----NOT A GOOD IMAGE people won't to see

I went for a Sunday roast and I can truthfully say it's the first time I have had gravy you can cut with a knife and fork. It's well presented but tastes awful.

I have been going to Nutmegs on and off since it first opened and I can truthful say that every meal or sandwich is freshfully prepared by a team of lovely friendly staff. Nothing is ever an issue and they are always clean empty plates when we finish. From a sandwich to a salad. Or scones or light snacks all delious and reasonable price wise. Go on when your next in Hedon try it.

Went in today for a peaceful breakfast with my husband our only day off together. 1st waitress absolutely lovely laughing and joking then the waitress who served us our food was so rude it was unbelievable. Left the food and left nutmegs shocking service .

Went with my daughter for lunch. I had the lasagne and daughter had jacket potato. The lasagne was quite sloppy and reminded me of how lasagne was presented in the 80's. The vegetables were sparse and looked like they had come from a tin or been boiled to death. It struck me as a popular place for the older generation looking at the people at other tables. Not my cup of tea though.

Went in with my friend had a really nice lunch always full and very busy good food and lovely pot of tea nice coffees lovely cakes and deserts

Been coming to Nutmegs as long as I've lived in Hedon, as the advert say "Does exactly as it says on the tin". Great menu if you're just wanting a bite to eat or a fry up to cure a hangover.

Had a cake and a coffee, both of which were amazing! We took my 13 month old nephew who was a fussy eater but the lovely staff did their best to make something he liked! Couldn't have had a better experience :)

We visited this place shortly after moving to the area, and gave it a try.

Terrible service, I was treated like I had walked into their front room when I asked where to sit.
