Lovely setting and after reading the reviews, we were expecting a nice meal. Service was good but the Sunday lunch was mediocre. Warm, not hot and tasteless. Have had better Sunday lunches, paying less than £20 per meal. Won't be rushing back.

Another great evening at this beautiful venue. The decor is really good, service was excellent, all the staff we had dealings with were friendly, efficient & helpful, and the food was brilliant. Full marks to everyone involved in making this an excellent experience.

My 8 year old and I decided on an impromptu Sunday lunch. I had the mushroom stroganoff (not sure if it was called that, but essentially it was) with mash. It was tasty, and I enjoyed it (although a little more tepid than I’d like given a chance but I just prefer food piping hot). I think I’d prefer it with wild rice and a bit of veg on the side would’ve been nice and colourful. My son ate most of his kids Sunday lunch too. We also had a dessert, brownie and ice-cream. They let me have the child’s brownie as it was gluten free and dairy free (there didn’t seem to be an option on the adult menu) so that was nice of them. Waitress was lovely. Ambience good. Would return. Was pleased to be asked straight away about allergies as I’m coeliac.

We stopped for lunch I choose the honey beef noodles which to be honest was not the greatest. Beef overcooked, lots of oil and lacking vegetables. The service on the other hand was really good and the young lady changed the meal for me. However I thought that it was overpriced and portions on the smaller side. I do know it was the lighter bite menu but you still want to feel like you have eaten.

Went for Sunday lunch with my husband. The waiting staff, Jess and Jack are excellent. They are professional yet friendly. Very attentive, but not hovering. Attention to detail by the two of them was excellent. I wish serving staff in other establishments could be as excellent as Jess and Jack. The roast beef dinner was excellent. But the only less good thing I could say is the broccoli was slightly undercooked. Highly recommend No 26. We will be visiting again soon.

I went for dinner here with my family, a party of six. I had booked for six but when we arrived we were put onto a table that I thought to be too small: my family were happy there so I did not comment or asked to be moved. My starter was calamari, which was served in a tiny basket with some flavoured mayonnaise and nothing else. I thought the portion too small and there could have been some garnish at least. I had duck for the main. My duck breast meat was over cooked and the fat undercooked. I would have been disappointed with it if I had cooked it myself. The cherry sauce was very underwhelming and there was too little. At least the chef had taken time to boil the living daylights out of the broccoli! I ate it as I was hungry and the point was to be with my family. I told the host as I paid about my poor experience. Overpriced for the quality. I will not go again.

Lovely location. Friendly staff. However, we had issues with the food provided. Lamb mostly undercooked and two thirds bone, which at £22 for that course, was extremely poor. Fruit tart, small, with what tasted like tinned peaches. Child's meal, again poor quality. Overall, expensive eatery, with sadly, food that could be improved upon. To be fair, the management, did, following complaint, reduce the cost of the lamb course. Would need improvement, in this regard, before I would visit again.

We went to No 26 today for Sunday lunch, and were very impressed. The menu was imaginative and varied, much better than the usual Sunday lunch carvery. Prices were relatively modest for the quality of the meal. We were seated in a large bay-window area which provided most of the benefits of being outside, without the chill of the wind. Service was friendly and efficient. All in all a very enjoyable experience, which we would recommend without hesitation!

Went here today for Mother’s Day lunch. Perfect surroundings, excellent staff and a special 3 course menu with lots of choices. Had table for over 2 hours and then able to have coffee in the bar area. Lots of outside seating for warmer days and lovely to see all the narrow boats moored in the marina. Would definitely like to go again and thoroughly recommend a visit.

We booked a table for a late lunch after a shopping trip. It wasn't busy and we were shown to a table in the conservatory where we asked to be moved as it felt a little draughty..( I am always cold so not saying the restaurant was) I ordered the duck breast and hubby the fillet steak. Both were cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were perfect as nothing worse than being over faced with mountains of food. Dessert was the sticky toffee pudding with spiced fruit and honey panacotta again both delicious. Highly recommend. Staff were faultless and polite.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I had booked the restaurant based on the fact it seemed to have a good gluten-free menu & there were even some dishes that could be adapted to be gluten free. I personally find the venue lacks atmosphere inside but that’s a personal opinion & it was a bit more light and pleasant in the conservatory where we were sat. I made sure I told the waitress that I wanted the gluten free option as I had an allergy (I’m coeliac) and the dish I chose was one that could be adapted to be so. When it came it was a noodle/coconut dish, a bit like a coconut curry but all stuck to the noodles instead of being saucy. I wasn’t really much for it, but thats how it goes when you’re ordering something blind and you’ve not tried it before. I think when you pay a little bit extra at a place like Aston marina you probably expect a bit better. Anyway as soon as I got home I was very ill, I knew I had been glutenized. Then I was feeling ill all my weekend off and into the next week where I was still boated like a beach ball. I went in after work and complained politely. The manager completed a form and ultimately, credit to them they admitted that the noodles I had been given had not been gluten free after a short investigation. I was offered a £50 voucher as a goodwill gesture. Considering I had spent over £25 in there (with a pre meal drink) it was little compensation for being ill and totally ruining my weekend. However the manager who rang me back assured me that extra training would be given to staff so that really is the very best outcome that hopefully nobody else will get ill again. I have a lot of respect for the fact that they admitted to their mistake and confirmed that it did say on the order I’d requested gluten-free. I will use the voucher for drinks! I am satisfied with the outcome. Mistakes happen. I have been to places where a manager takes any order of a customer with an allergy and I’d recommend that as best practice.

Why when a resturant is almost empty and plenty of alternative seating is available ( we had booked our table for very early evening) do staff want people to sit immediately next to an occupied table? We chose a different table a little away from the other diners to allow them and ourselves some privacy. Good selection of locally sourced produce. Varied menu. Well cooked and presented. Service was good, efficient and friendly. This is a popular restaurant and booking is recommended

Lovely venue. Friend booked for her special birthday. Unfortunately very let down by the poor service and inedible main courses. Poor response from restaurant manager despite emails from myself and other friends. My friend received £20 voucher which just about covers a main course. We were a party of 13 and spent quite a bit of money on food and drinkUnfortunately we will not return and we had booked for our works Christmas meal but we will not be attending. Email response from manager informed me that I did not pay for my main course when infact I did the only deduction from the bill was for 2 risotto mains which were awful. Poor response and customer service. My friend felt very let down by the whole experience and her birthday meal was spoilt. Perhaps chef was having a bad night but we expected a better response

So disappointed with the meals we had today. Christmas Dinner (my husband and dear friend had this), the meat had very little taste. The meat was, wet. The sprouts, when my husband put his fork in them one shot across the table because they were almost raw. He couldn't get his fork in it. We asked for some fresh cooked ones and they were exactly the same. I had Sea Bass, fish was lovely but the spaghetti had a weird flavour to it and was very sloppy. Our other friends had suet pie. It looked like baby food. He kept saying" I didn't order this. It was a weird lump of suet with very little meat and a dollop of mash underneath it which was floating in gravy. We had for pudding Christmas pudding. It was ok, but brandy butter was frozen and it needed more sauce. Very disappointed, and very expensive.
