Truly dreadful food! Will not be going back chicken was rock hard & processed spring rolls tasted & smelt of chlorine awful food!

Absolutely awful! The chips have that 'Reheated from yesterday' taste, and let's face it as a nation we have eaten enough chips to know. Their overuse of MSG (too salty) and their small portion size, not to mention watery curry sauce and gristle chicken. Their latter being so over flavoured as to make me suspect the product is dated.

Bought last night been nothing but sick and I’ll from it has given me food poisoning please be careful from this place disgusting

90 % went in the bin as only the rice was edible… chicken was dry & overcooked as was the beef . We called to express our disappointment .. this was as expected met with a could not care attitude! Well not use again & certainly not recommend

We have been ordering from this restaurant since it opened years ago and wont use any other takeaway. Food is consistent and they are always friendly and polite.

whoever hired the woman who answers the phones needs to put the job ad back up. she’s so unbelievably rude when you call up to query why you’re missing food. this has happened on more than one occasion, it’s a joke. don’t give this business your money, they’ll tell you they’re too busy to make your food.

After waiting 1 1/2 hrs we were hungry and looking forward to the meal which was a birthday celebration. Unfortunately the food was tasteless. The kung po chicken batter was so tough it was barely chewable. It certainly was not freshly cooked and appeared old. The special rice was dry with pieces of dry old chicken and meat. The worst item was the spring roll which was sodden with oil gushing out everywhere when you took a bite. Obviously cooked in low temperature oil. Disgusting. All in this was a terrible meal, so bad that I definitely will not be going there again. It is not recommend and I urge you to spare yourselves the disappointment that we had.

Me and my partner order from here on a regular basis and it’s our favourite Chinese. On New Year’s Eve tonight we ordered at 5.45 knowing it would be busy. We were told 1 1/2 hours to delivery which was fine with us. 2 hours later is hadn’t arrived so we called and they said it hasn’t even left the shop. She told us half hour...ok fine we will wait as we know it’s busy. Then called at 9pm as it still wasn’t here, as I called them the guy delivered. I really wasn’t happy with waiting over 3 hours knowing other family members had theirs within an hour at the same time. I said to the lady I’m not willing to pay for it and she said she will take 10% off and I said I’m not willing to pay at all. They should of been honest and said it will be a much longer wait and I would have gone and collected it. We said just take it back, then as the very lovely delivery guy told us he was given it 5 mins ago and what they’re doing it prioritising people walking in instead of deliveries. She said there’s been ques of people in there tonight so that explains it. I’m all for supporting and waiting and knowing it’s busy but that is taking the micky! They guy couldn’t believe they wouldn’t let us just keep the food. So now they lose out of long standing customers and a bag of food which goes in the bin. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet to keep customers happy. Very poor service from tonight and we’re so disappointed

Went here ages ago. Tried the noodles and fried rice. The fried rice definitely wins because they are light on seasoning compared to Hong Kong where they load everything with so much salt and oil! Compared to other takeaways in UK, the prices are above average but then this takeaway is quite popular.

This is the freshest Chinese I have ever had. It absolutely excels anything I have ever had. What a Chinese. Just eat it and taste for yourself. Don’t bother eating here If you expecting to pick up some cheap bill for this quality food. This has now become our regular delivery for Chinese after our last place has gone downhill a bit. Very tasty always arrives quickly freshly prepared and hot. Asking the family which part of the order is the best and each person says a different dish. my personal favourite is the chicken chow mein mixed with some sweet and sour chicken. Thanks for another great takeaway.

Very disappointed, prices increased again from the last time we ordered and the portions seemed smaller too, almost £18 for 2 curries and 1 portion of smoked shredded chicken

We have been going to number one for years and their food is great. Today they excelled themselves and the food was the best ever. Everything was fresh, hot and tasty. Very lucky to have a great Chinese on our door step. 😘

Good quality food with large portions , always cooked fresh . It gets very busy sometimes but well worth the wait in my opinion

Bang on average!! Got chicken fried rice & chicken balls & the rice was very dry and the sweet & sour sauce wasn’t the best. Probably won’t be coming again again unless I got for something else.

I was very disappointed to find out that the takeaway food we had were absolutely tasteless and tough. We had beef chow mein the beef was chewy big slices of meat, would have been better if the meat slightly smaller and tender but apart from that was tasteless! the sweet sour pork looked second hand from previous night tough and chewy. Lastly, the king prawn with Oyster sauce were tasteless. I hope they will take this on board otherwise people look elsewhere. I wouldn't try it again! Sorry number one you've just lost one of your loyal customer.

Have been ordering from this takeaway since it opened years ago. The only Chinese food that's consistently good order always right. But tonight I'm seriously annoyed. We order on average once a week spending £30 a time so over 1.5 hours to get a delivery 5 mins up the road and to not even get a free bag of prawn crackers is taking the mick. If the food wasn't so good I would go else where.You make alot of money employ more drivers and treat your loyal customers better as your only as good as the custom you receive.

Great Chinese around here tried the rest but this one is by far the best great food and a great price.

I ordered over £50 worth and they read out my order and it was what I ordered then I took one hour and when food turned up I was missing some prawn balls worth £6.50 so I rang them back up and they tell me I’ve only paid for one lot of prawn balls which when they read out what I ordered on the phone was two lots of prawn balls yet when I ring them up they try make it out that it’s my fault not there’s and they say to me I need to pay for them and will take 15mins to be delivered and me and my family are already eating out food yet they still charged my for the prawn balls when it was there fault they only charged me for one but when they read out order I had two on my order I will never be ordering from these guys again they need to take responsibility for there mistakes and not make it out the customer is wrong and charge them for there mistake I hope they learn from this but I will not be ordering from here again.

Me and my fiancé, friends and family have ordered Chinese from here over the years and sometimes it's been pretty rubbish but we ordered from here a few months back and I can honestly say it's the best Chinese I've ever had....please don't ever change. Can't comment on delivery as I always pick it up as it's a lot quicker.

Love this little chinese take away with a big menu. Authentic chinese. Always collection as delivery takes too long. Only downside is £1 charge to pay by card. I dont know any other place who charge nowadays. X

OK... so some of the reviews seem to indicate that this place is really hit and miss, but having been coming here for near on 3 yrs at random intervals - its always been fantastic!

Last night their delivery driver backed into my car after delivering food to my neighbour and then sped off. I heard the crash, ran to the window but didn't have time to get his reg number. My neighbour was in his garden and heard him tell his passenger friend to turn the car around while he got out and delivers the food... and this guy backed into my car, got out as the original driver ran back, looked at the damage and yelled to get back in the car.... then they sped off. We called the restaurant immediately, even spoke to the driver who said "there wasn't much damage" and agreed to come back. When he never showed up, I went to restaurant to try to get details for insurance but the staff was purposefully unhelpful. They said he wasn't a normal driver, only filling in, they didn't have his details, etc. I guess they've never heard of employer vicarious liability. DODGY BUSINESS, AVOID!

Después de pedir mi comida a las 7:30 y no llego hasta las 9:35 no se disculparon no dar nada gratis o disculparse. Ni siquiera una disculpa del gerente "FU" y cuando la comida llegó claramente fue apresurada, ya que aparecimos en mi casa en poco más de cinco minutos de mí quejándose. Ha estado claramente climatizada como fue hirviendo en la cima y medio a frío en el medio. Estaba cubierto en salsa aguada y sin sabor. No me será de nuevo aquí como pedir que he vivido en el lugar por 30 años y la calidad ha empeorado gravemente. Pésimo servicio y la mala calidad de la comida.

Una cosa esperando 2 horas para comida caliente luke recalentados pero es otra cosa para ninguna disculpa y un gerente desagradables en el teléfono. El hecho de que sólo podían ofrecer una porción de pan de gambas como su manera de disculparse cuando luego vienen gratis con la comida es una vergüenza. . Que te mantengas lejos de este lugar a menos que quieras pasada comida caliente y no hay servicio al cliente

Bought Chinese from here and chicken balls was burnt rock solid nearly chipped a tooth 1 hour after eating this I had a upset stomach 👎🏻👎🏻😡

Nos encanta esta tienda de comida es abundante y todas formas caliente, el personal son acertadas. Recomendaría este llevar incluso entregar y muy rápido.

Este chinise siempre está fresca, no grasa o cargas de aceite. También no crazy con harina de maíz. La mayoría de los otros chino tome siempre he tenido no he encontrado cerca de sabor y calidad.

Definitely best in the area. good size portions, food is delivered hot, friendly staff on delivery.One thing that I'm disappointed with on my first order was that they don't include any prawn crackers or bottles of soft drink on orders on above a certain amount, which I have found with a lot of other Chinese establishments over the years. But other than that, I cant complain.

Been using number 1 for years and food was always good... However lately they have been making mistakes with most of our orders... We are waiting 40 minutes + for our food only for something to always be missing or delivered cold... When we call to discuss they are rude even saying "We are not a restraunt, so it not always hot on delivery " on another occasion being very sarcastically told "the customer is always right" when we queried an order with missing items.... Food may be good, but with orders being wrong, delivery taking a long time and then sheer rudeness when you ring we have decided it's not worth the hassle.

Stopped by here randomly spent £24 to get home and find 1 of the main dishes not there.rang and they refused to deliver what they had forgot and was told if i wanted my food or refund to come and get it.for a bank holiday i found this very selfish attitude,and what food we did have was like a load of pulp.personally i would avoid like a plague

Have been using Number 1 for many years now and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and hot. We have fed both small and large groups and always good. We normally order by phone and collect to save waiting as this t/a gets very busy. They do offer a home delivery service. Well worth a try.

Having tried several other local chinese takeaways this is one of the better ones. Food is very reasonably priced & always looks fresh & very hot. Some people travel a fair distance just because this takeaway is good

Always get my chinese here, on a far too regular basis! They have always delivered within 30 mins of ordering, or if I pick up its ready to go.

With prices going up and badly cooked food (bit of moderation with the MSG guys pleeeeease) I question whether I will ever use them again. Seeing as there are other Asian Takeaways...

Have got takeaways often from here but the prices were increased recently so we do not use it that often, also they don't offer any free things like others do, i.e. free prawn crackers, bottle of drink etc, which would help for example, 1 prawn crackers, 2 spring rolls, 2 curries, 1 rice and 1 plain chow mien is over £20.

We went to this chinese on boxing day after needing a break from all the turkey and was very impressed with the food!From calling up and getting confidence that the people on the other end of the line knew what they were doing (not always the case elsewhere!) to eating the food - it was all impeccable.The food itself was plentiful (is it possible the portions were even too big???) and extremely good quality.This was the first time we had ordered from these guys so rather apprehensive - but our faith in them was repaid several times over.Sweet and Sour prawns hong kong style was out of this world!!

Have recently changed from another Chinese that I was very loyal to until it changed hands and the food went downhill, we thought we would give number one a go and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place. Large portions well cooked, tasty and not highly expensive

I'm spoiled as a previously dated a Chinese girl whose father was an exceptional Chef. When he made special fried rice you could taste the individual flavours and so it was with all the food he cooked. It was an experience I enjoyed only twice before he passed. Which leads me to this establishment. The food prices are average and what you'd expect to pay and the items on the menu are what you'd find on any Chinese menu. My problem is the food tastes bland and a little samey. As for the chip, more often than not they're over cooked, I did mention this to the young lady on the phone (who miraculously choose not to speak English to well at that point,) apparently the chips were cooked fine when they left the restaurant. They self cooked during delivery in other words defying the law of physics. I always make sure I order a little past 5pm though sometimes it takes the. 45 mins to travel a couple of miles. I order from Wa Yang Yang in selsdon now who are not only friendly good cooks.
