Nu Spice in Aberdeenshire

Ordered two Special set meals and the food was amazing. Portions were very generous including rice, the onion bhajis and bombay tatties were very tasty. Main courses were excellent, faultless and plenty of meat. Fast and efficient delivery service. Will definetly return for a takeaway again soon.

As soon as you walk in the door you know you are it's right place. Welcoming staff, great menu and sealant value for money. Then when you get home,the anticipation while serving it up before getting to eat it.

I have ordered a takeaway from here on a couple of occasions now and the same issue both times. Whilst the food is very good and certainly have no complaints there, the waiting time has put me off ordering from here again. The first occasion was 1hr 30 mins despite being told it would be an hour and the 2nd time was just over 2 hours despite being told 75mins! I for one won't be ordering from here again based purely on the waiting time which is a shame as the food is very good. Perhaps a newer, bigger premises with more staff would be helpful.

Having phoned in an order and agreeing a time to collect it, we arrived to find the food hadn't yet been cooked and had to wait nearly half an hour for it. This isn't the first time this has happened. That said, the food was very tasty when we did eat it.

Staying at the local queen Elizabeth caravan club site in Stonehaven tried to get a delivery and was told they don’t deliver to caravan sites made me feel inadequate. Was not very pleasant on the phone. First time ever putting poor review on here

We have been eating from here for years and it is by far the best Indian food in Stonehaven. The curries and just fantastic and I’ve tried most of them 😂. Only downside is the wait, it can take over an hour at busy times but I guess that reflects how busy they are

Hopefully tonight's tasteless curry was just a one-off. It's normally amazing, but tonight was a disappointment. It was supposed to be a medium-heat curry, but I doubt it was even mild. It was completely tasteless. The other parts of the 5-course special were okay as usual. If it continues like this I'm sure they will lose a lot of their loyal customers.

Food is amazing , but let down by staff , person answer the phone was rude and English was awful . Yet again nearly gave up , And go to tandoori haven , , customer service is just has important has good food

The Wednesday and Thursday night £8.50 5 course special is as good as ever. It has introduced me to good curries and I now go to Nu Spice on other days throughout the week.

Authentic cuisine, always reliably very good. Never had a bad meal and have used frequently. Best take away in the area by a long way!

By far the best little take away around, I'm looking forward to the sit down restaurant opening and a few Cobras!

I enjoyed a take-away from here last night I chose a Lamb Rajshahi Amla first time I've had this and it was really good cooked with mango and the rice was lovely a very enjoyable meal

Collected a take away from this restaurant tonight which was totally uneatable. I made my choice known to the person taking my order who seemed to find this quite amusing with the chef in the background and they most certainly seemed to go out their way to produce the hotest curry ever. Would most certainly not go back, having been happy with their food in the past, don't think everyone is drunk at this time on a Saturday night Nu Spice and serve up what you want, was not the case for myself and your food and service was a huge disappointment which I confirmed to you by telephone tongiht.

This take away is really good, you can see the chefs cooking the food and everyone we have had food with frm here really loves it.

In my opinion this is the best Indian food around Aberdeenshire, it is top quality authentic Indian dishes. The North Indian Balti and the South Indian Garlic Chilli are both amazing. Never give enough spiced onions in my opinion but then again I probably eat...

Ordered the Executive set meal for 2 and at £24.95 it was great value with enough food for 3 very hungry people. Service was good, collected 30 minutes after ordering, everything we ordered was very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

Went to Stonehaven to visit friends. After arriving late decided to get a curry. The food from here was hot, fresh and extremely tasty. Quality Indian food...

Service is great and honest about timings. They are jusifiably very busy.I don't know how many meals I have bought from these guys, its a big number over a long period and they never ever disappoint.ThanksDave

We visited here for the first time on Saturday night. Food is excellent & our wait was 25 minutes as the curry was freshly made, you can also see the cooks in the kitchen. Price wise it is good, 2 meals, 1 starter & 1 nan bread was £25. You can get parked on the Main Street or in the square car park. Plenty of bars around if you like to go for a drink whilst they are cooking your meal. I would definitely recommend this place to eat, I like an authentic Indian curry and this is what you certainly get.

Had to cut down because every Friday night having a curry was putting on the weight. Once a month treat and is excellent every time

Nu Sp[ice is an absolute joy to collect food from and when you get your food home an absolute joy to eat. From the minute you start ordering and the owner it battering 7 bells out of his calculator (nothing as fancy as a till) its a sensory delight. Beautiful aromas come from the open kitchen where the Chefs work like Trojans with a smile and the odd wave. The main man just makes you laugh.Food is nothing short of brilliant. I strongly recommend a Chasni or a Bangalore

The Nu Spice is a fantastic little take away. The staff are always so friendly and happy to recommend various curries to suit your taste, always smiling. The portions are very generous and always full of flavour. The chicken is the best take away chicken I have tasted. They also have lots of great set meal offers on throughout the week. You can also watch them cook your meal as you wait.

Great tasting food, promptly ready and all dishes are individually cooked. Home delivery is available, but I always collect. Staff friendly and always great returning customers in a friendly manner. Usually includes pompodams foc, which is a nice touch.

This is a brilliant Indian takeaway in Stonehaven. We've had several takeaways from here and all been excellent. Normally we go mid-week where the meal for 2 for £19 is our choice from the menu. Poppadams, dips, 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 rice, Bombay potatoes and a nan bread. Such fantastic value you might think that the quality might be lacking but it definitely is not. Normally I have a chicken main course whilst hubby has a lamb and the meats are always lean and well cooked and there is plenty of meat and sauce to go with all the accompaniments. Staff are always really friendly too. We normally make an hour round trip for this place.

This take-away is well worth a visit, very good food and many special dishes that are tasty, Very friendly staff and value for money, the Executive set meal is a good option.

After our usual favourite Indian was closed we decided to try here and we're so glad we did. Great selection of dishes which you can watch being prepared as the have a window into the kitchen. Great taste and ranging from mild to very hot.

This is purely a takeaway, The meals that I have had have always been very tasty and freshly prepared. Very good value for money.

Reading the other reviews, I am a bit baffled as I think the complete opposite of most of them! We went there on a Sunday, both myself and my mum had maybe 3 bites of the curry, then binned it! It was awful, so tasteless and the meat was very poor. I don't expect to eat bland or tasteless food at an Indian as it is normally my favourite type of food :( maybe it was just having a bad day, but We certainly won't be back

Have walked past this place on many occasions and after being disappointed by the other Indian Restaurants in Stonehaven decided to give this place a chance.Delivered food quickly and our curies were spot on, with good quantities of nice chicken and a good mixture of spice.I would have give a higher mark but the one thing that annoyed me was that they said on a Saturday night they would only deliver the most expensive set meal, and neither of the other two. What ?... We therefore opted for the most expensive one. I would not have expected this from an award winning Indian.

The taste and quality of the food from here is unbeatable. The portion sizes are generous which is always a good thing! For a family of three we normally get the set meal for two which includes poppadoms, 2 starters, 2 curries, 2 rice, Bombay potatoes and naan bread for £20 during the week and £25 at the weekend and due to the sizes of the portions we are all left stuffed afterwards, often with food left over so it is great value for money for exceptional food!

Had 8 round on Sunday night and I suggested we have a meal from Nu Spice, very bad move, we were told on the phone 30 minutes but when we arrived we were told we are busy tonight, after waiting 50 minutes we got our meal, arrived home only to finde one of the nans was missing this is after watching the chap count the item before he placed them in the bag, each person of our group said the meal was terrible with no taste and very bland, sorry but I will not be back. I would rather pay a few pounds more for a takeaway from the restaurants where you know the food will tast better.

We ordered 2 meals but could easily have shared 1 as the portions are very generous. Food takes a little time but each and every curry is fresh, made up to order (visible through a window into kitchen). Our meals were delicious and the lamb was so tender. Well done guys!

Went here for a takeaway Saturday 6th June and was very disappointed, called it in over the phone and told it would be 40 minutes not a problem at all went to collect and it was still not ready eventually it was ready then we paitently waitied as the guy took a long time counting all the items twice staff member seemed very nervous, went home with takeaway not even 4 minutes down the road to find it was stone cold, had to heat it up in the microwave not impressed I have had takeaways before from other places that were not this cold when i got home and had to travel further. I has been recomended this place by my Auntie as she goes almost every weekend but It was not to that standard for me. I will not be back which is a shame as I was so excited to eat here when I read the reviews and saw all the awards that you had. Disappointed first time customer :(

I visited here in February for the first time and have since been back with other friends. The food is great - not the best Indian I have had but very enjoyable. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff were lovely - those things when coupled with friends and wine made for 2 excellent evenings.

Take out restaurant - some of the best food we've had has come from here. Have been using on and off for around 10 years. The flavours of every dish are always individual and quality and portions of every meal are consistently excellent! Only just realised I've never reviewed it before! I would not hesitate to recommend this take out to anyone looking for good food in the area.

A brilliant wee take away restaurant. Simply one of the best curries I've ever had... I had a Hinduqushi achar ... delicious lamb and well balanced spices ...The guys in the restaurant are really cheery and helpful.I highly recommend the Nu Spice.

Most of Stonehaven Closed - day after a Great Fireballs and Firework display ! Carry -out very busy - but speedy and efficient service and usuall super Tasty Curries- Recommend Chicken Tikka and Madras- Great use of spices.

The best Indian in Stonehaven by far, amazing food (especially the Bhuna), very varied menu, fresh tasting food and great service. The fact you can see the chefs cooking as you come in is a positive, only downside is there is no restaurant!

I got a few meals here during my stay- take away only and it was great to get back to my accommodation on a cold night and have a nice curry with a glass of red after a day at work.One night i made my order, he said ready in 20 min so I went next door and had a pint whilst waiting, come back and ready to go. Spot on.Good curry!

We have been going to Nu Spice for a long time and always enjoy our take away. The menu choice is excellent and after trying different dishes I have never had a bad one. The chicken is always nicely cooked and very tasty.I like being able to watch the chefs cooking through the window and all the staff are so friendly every time I go in.Keep up the good work :-)

Always had a carry out and never a sit in meal, I love the food here. You wait a while however the food is fresh and worth waiting for.

Ordered a prawn madras and paid for a chicken tikka jalfrezi but when we got home both were madras! Not good ........Prawn on purée good but don't think they are consistent!

Had quite a few takeaways from nu spice and have never been disappointed. Always great food at a reasonable price.

Visited here several times in the last year - never had a bad meal yet. Food is always very good, the inion bhaji's and vegetable pakora is the best I have eaten in any Indian. The place is tiny and it is always mobbed at the weekend. As a result if you phone an order in it takes approximately an hour for the food to be ready! I have had a few nightmares when ordering food - with nu spice giving my food to the wrong customer - they struggle to maintain control of orders when it is very busy. I will always go back however as the food is as good as I have eaten in any Indian restaurant or takeaway. Great food - service could be better.

Recently had a take away and was not impressed by the taste or the quality. I have eaten here on many occasions and have always been more than happy with the food on offer. The dishes were very bland in comparison to previous visits.I can only hope that this is a one off and the next time I return I hope for tastier offerings!!

Just arrived home with my take away (north indian balti, lamb) to discover that the meat was not lamb at all....Tasted to me like beef. Beef is not an option on the menu, so don't believe this to be a simple error - i can only assume they are substituting cheap cuts of beef for lamb.Still, the sauce and remainder of the meal was decent, but definitely won't be going back. Totally unacceptable.

If you want excellent Indian food in Stonehaven this is the place to go. I have been using this takeaway for a number of years now and the quality just gets better.

Food here is excellent. All really tasty dishes with loads of subtle spices, freshly made in front of your eyes & very reasonably priced. The afghani chana bhuna is my favourite. yummy.

Superb Indian take away where you can watch your food being cooked as you wait. Most of the staff do not speak English particularly well, but they are always cheerful & friendly. Food is always very good & regulars can make use of a discount card. Set meals are superb value for money & offer a reasonable choice from a well varied menu.

Ordered a couple of mains and sides, which took 10mins or so longer than they suggested. So we were given some extras without charge. Got the stuff home and it was ecellent-I can see why the place has a recent award for best takeaway in Aberdeenshire!

As a family of Indian food lovers this takeaway is one of the best. All main meals where perfectly cooked. Service is quick, polite and food well packed. They are happy to alter dishes to suit taste. Over all fantastic.

If you want authentic, varied and excellently cooked traditional Indian food to take home I think this is the best in the North EastHighly reccommend the specialities ...any of them!!

Me and my girlfriend ordered a takeaway from here last night and we were both bitterly disappointed , we ordered and then told to come back in an hour , which wasn't the best start , once we finally got our food home the real disappointment set in both of our curries were bland and tasteless the chicken was dry. We won't be returning here ever again
