Didn't eat this time, but as a first visit, I was very impressed

Not worth the prices Bar Staff Not professional. Had to keep going asking for the basic stuff like a folk & sauce napkin

Great place to meet up with friends to catch up.

Took my daughter for birthday lunch. My first option of food was not available so felt a bit pressured to choose another. To be fair I didn’t read the menu fully and I would not have chosen the potatoes that came with the meal. Chose chicken au poivre and the chicken was overcooked and chewy and the sauce was lacking in pepper. We sat outside to have our meal and the staff cleared everybody’s table however we sat for the full duration and our table was not cleared of plates or glasses in spite of it not being busy.

Nicely set out pub, good range of drinks and food options. Plenty of seating inside and out

Come here quite a lot, steak pie is my favourite, but have tried most of the menu and not been disappointed, my wife loves the salmon supreme and the strawberry cheese cake cocktail, the staff are very polite and friendly

Fish & chips 4/5; nice fillet of fish in golden crispy batter, chips really good, served with tartare sauce & mushy peas; Grilled Chicken in pepper sauce on boulanger potatoes & side of vegetables 2/5; I love pepper sauce however this just tasted of raw peppercorns, very unpleasant, the grilled chicken was tough , the boulanger potatoes didn't look appetising and didn't taste good, there was what appeared to be some sort of lumpy mashed potato alongside the other potato dish; both looked like leftovers as did the vegetables... I was so looking forward to trying Nu Bar's food as it's a while since we've been and it always used to be flavoursome and value for money.... sadly we won't be rushing back....

Great food. Staff very friendly and attentive can get very busy and bit loud evenings. But great to meet up for catch-up lunches. Not had a bad meal and good range of drinks. Toilets not the best but everything else spot on 👍

Everything was tasty and we weren't kept waiting despite it being quite busy. There was a lovely warm atmosphere and all the staff especially Will were super friendly and helpful. Will helped pick our food and drinks (including the penis colada I miss pronounced). Will was totally knowledgeable about both and even helped bring them across to the table and checked on us later on.

Myself and my partner had a Trio of fish. Absolutely gorgeous and highly recommended. Fantastic service by our server. Smiling, polite.

Great place and great food with decent portions. Staff were warm and friendly. Only reason it's not 5 star is the prices are a little steep but suppose you get what you pay for. Definitely go again!

This was the first time we have tried here. The food was amazing, a lot of homemade items l, i had the house burger which was lovely, some places they are greasy but not here it was perfect! My husband had the haddock and chips and he said the fish was thick and lovely and the batter wasn't soggy or greasy. Hannah was the lady who served me and my husband, she was really polite and well mannered. We sent compliments to the chefs also because the food was amazing. Will deffinatly return

Tried the recommended chicken penne if you like mushrooms this is the dish for you

I checked on the Nu Bar website to see if Wi-Fi was available. It was and their closing time was shown as 11pm. England were playing Serbia in the first round of the Euros. There were 7 of us average age 72 we arrived before 8pm and set up an iPad with the volume turned down so we could keep an eye on the game. At 8.45pm we were informed by Ross a supervisor that due to the bar being quiet he was calling last orders at 9pm and we had to be out by 9.30. Five similar aged customers sat close by were given the same instructions. I don’t know whether the other customers had dined but beware if are wanting to celebrate a special occasion and it turns out to be a quiet night your celebration may be cut short and you could be turfed out before you are ready. Our night was completely spoiled all Ross could offer was sorry after sorry after sorry. He wasn’t sorry it was his decision he chose to do it, the closing time listed on the website was 11pm and we had been in on previous Sunday nights when we had not been ejected early.

Opted for the halloumi salad. Looked like the chef had opened a bag of salad and threw it on the plate with 8 chopped halloumi (tasted like rubber).

We booked here for Saturday night birthday meal, the food here is usually very good. I selected the Pollo Ala Creme at £14.95. Although the food was edible it was very watery, not creamy at all, I did mention this to the bar staff but nothing, no response from the kitchen or the bar staff. Our total spend was £142.00 with drinks, at tease prices we wont be going back again.

Went with friends mid week afternoon and pre booked. Nice table in the window, and the bar has a good feel to it, few other diners scattered around so a relaxed atmosphere. Decent choice of ales, the Brewdog in particular although top dollar but good friendly service at the bar. I ordered pollo alla creme which came with rice, not cheap at the £15/16 price range. Cannot comment on my fellow diners choice but all cleared their plates and all enjoyed the food but commented on the small portions. I felt the same about mine, which came in a small dish, a few chicken strips and maybe a mushroom, all very tasy but for the price I expected a chicken fillet and prehaps saute potatoes, not rice. I've had bigger starters then this elsewhere. Must say the portions of fish and chips, pizzas and pies leaving the kitchen all looked better value then my dish, which I will remember the next time I visit, because we will. Good choice for an afternoon brunch, but in my opinion a tad expensive. To be fair, this is a good establishment and perhaps I made the wrong choice, once bitten and all that.

Monday lunchtime so not easy to create atmosphere but that was made up for by the extremely pleasant and attentive staff. Very clean and attractive atmosphere. A really good choice of hot and cold snacks, light bites and full meals. We were spoilt for choice and will visit again to try other items on the menu. We felt it was competitively priced, there are so many eating places in Willerby, Anlaby and Kirkella but this held its own! We felt it would be good fun to visit in the hot weather and sit outside too.

Was in nu bar tonight. Always loved there food. But tonight I ordered the chicken in brandy sauce, miles to much sauce it spoilt the meal. I would of preferred half the sauce and more vegetables.

Been here a few times for food and on an evening for cocktails. Food is always so tastey and service is good. Great vibes.

Visited again (March 2024) very disappointing food, all very flavourless, very expensive for small amounts. Enjoyed my visit, as I was catching up with friends, maybe would give the food a miss next time.

Visited with friends. Friendly staff. Food OK, but the portion was too small for me, and I'm not a big eater.

Here, the menu, food quality, pricing & ambience are, as always, excellent. In addition, I must single out Ross, who attended to my friend`s special needs extremely well, and with the nicest smile. The latter had come out of an extended hospital stay with a poor appetite, so Ross without hesitation re-packed his uneaten lunch in a box + carrier to take home & enjoy at his leisure. It is much to the management`s credit given the excellent and attentive staff that they have employed.

Not a great experience. 3 of us went. One of us had a nice meal, one of us got a meal complete with hair in it( this was replaced) and I ate very little of my meal- literally a couple of mouthfuls. It did not taste good and to add insult to injury despite virtually a full plate of food being taken from the table no one asked if food was okay. My opinion if you can't do good fish and chips something is badly wrong and food should not have hair in it!!!! Waiting staff should be asking if food Is okay especially when a plate has loads of food on it when it is taken away. Verdict - disappointing and a waste of money. Terrible customer service, poor food and totally spoiled a reunion with friends. Leaving the restaurant hungry and quite angry. A waste of money 2 customers not satisfied out of 3 not a success.

Food was delicious, absolutely loved the Chicken Kiev. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and atmosphere. Also had the Salted Caramel Brownie for pudding which was very nice.

Menu didn't excite and quality wasn't great but otherwise pretty nice.

Food is good service is good. The place hasn't changed since it opened could do with a revamp but all In all it's a nice place to be.

It’s been open for over ten years but this place is still really popular. I went for the burger which was good and Mrs Bell enjoyed the salmon. Plenty of choice of drinks.

Lovely venue. The staff were brilliant quick service and very friendly. Menu choices are great loads to choose from. Bit Expensive for what you got same with the drinks.

Great local for food. Service is always excellent. Decor a bit tired.

Always a fab atmosphere, great food and cocktails.

Popped in for a mid dog walk coffee. We sat outside; the heating was put on especially for us and water brought for the doggo. A lovely friendly young man - would definitely visit again. Oh, and the coffee was great!

Very nice place, not too busy when I was there good choice of seating. Food was delicious, varied menu, I had fish and chips which was delicious, the fish was enormous. It does get busy after 5.00 and worth booking a table.

Professional Review Attended this restaurant today for lunch and the staff were very friendly! The atmosphere is great but the parking is the limited.the menu is a little to pricey for the standard of food. For starters I had the halloumi. It was nice but the sauce was over bearing and to tangy and the halloumi could have been cooked longer for a nicer texture, it was however enjoyable. For the mains I kept it simple with the cheese burger and fries. The burger was okay.The bun was toasted well but the Pattie was tasteless and over cooked. 4.5/10 the fries were cooked to a poor standard very,very,oily and over cooked. 3 stars on this occasion unfortunately Signing off (Plus one side reviews)

Nice food but expensive for what you get, got a southern fried chicken wrap with chips was one small wrap cut in half with a little pot of chips £7.95 the stroganoff portion also stingey considering it’s £14 I wouldn’t go out of my way to return

Excellent food, we’ve never had anything less in here. The service can be slow when it’s busy, and it’s difficult to get up the bar for drinkers stood around it. With table service, NuBar would be perfect. Oh, and the music is too quiet - a pity that they no longer have Kenny Bridges; he is One of the areas best DJs who always lifts the atmosphere.

My friends and I decided to have lunch here (Weds 11th) and they did enjoy theirs but I can not say I enjoyed mine that is why I gave 3 stars. I opted for a main meal as there was not a great deal to choose from on the sandwich/wrap menu that I could eat? I ordered the Steak and Ale pie with chips and peas, The pie crust was quite thick and hard to cut into and at first the meat was very dry on my first mouthful it was a little better on the inside but I could tell this piece of pie was not freshly made as stated in the menu as the sides of the pie were dry and the meat was like concrete and so I couldn't finish my meal. I did complain to the young man who served our table, he said he was sorry I did not enjoy my food and he would pass on my comments to the chef. I didn't receive no apology from the manager or offer of refund so I left disappointed and it was certainly not worth the £14.95 I paid for it even my friends agreed and if I do pay that price for a meal I expect it to be something I enjoyed and would want to have again? But on this occasion I really was not happy. I will say though that we thought the young male bar staff were very polite and friendly and we left them a tip. As for the Chef? The only tip I have for him/her is don't serve customers food that is not fresh and inedible.

I’m giving this place 5 stars simply for the quality of the vegan Chilli I had recently. I couldn’t fault it, as a vegetarian cook with 35 years experience, I get so sick of eating lack lustre food made with no love. I’m loath to say but I couldn’t make this dish any better. Put together with deep delicate flavors, home made tortilla chips, this dish was light and tasty and a rare treat for restaurant vegan food. I’ve lived in London for 20 years, I’m an avid foodie, we eat out several times a week, I’ve never tasted a better vege Chilli. 5 well deserved stars! We’ll be back.

Website says open at 10 am. Went to meet a friend and the guy inside said they don't open till 10.30 we've alway been at 10 previously and got served so I think you need to change the website.

Was very cold but maybe because it was only 12pm but had to keep coat on to eat it Was that cold. Lovely food

Despite living nearby this was our first visit and certainly won't be our last. Every mouthful of my Sea Bass was delicious and friend thoroughly enjoyed the meat pie which was served with plenty of gravy pronounced superb. Staff very pleasant and great service.

Had their Fish, Peas & Chips yesterday and must say that it was excellent. The tender batter on the succulent fish, combined with really tasty & flavourful chips must be a first class testament to their chef, as the latter can often be found to be just bland accompaniments.

OK. Firstly I hate marking out of 5. It probably deserves a bit more than 4 but wasn't a 5. Service was good, friendly and efficient. There wasn't any long wait between courses. We were fortunate that the weather was good enough to eat outside and despite being close to a bust road wasn't unpleasant. The food was good. However I'm a bit fussy so here goes. I had the lamb kofta starter which was fine but would have liked a bit more oomph. Couldn't taste the chilli. For main course I had the chicken au poivre. OK the veg had been microwaved. Nothing wrong with that but please drain it as I had a puddle of water on my plate which I mopped up with a napkin. The chicken was a little overcooked and a bit dry. Having said that I would go back and happy to recommend.

First time we have been, My son has the steak and Stilton burger and I had the Lamb Kofta salad, food was well presented and delicious! Very tasty 😋 and friendly staff. Will be back!!

Booked here for a birthday meal for my mum after hearing good things about it & driving past & always seeing it busy. The menu is extensive & lots of different types of food to choose from. It was quite warm inside & once we'd eaten we went & sat outside in the fresh air with our drinks which was lovely. We all chose something different from the menu & each enjoyed what we'd chosen. I also had a couple of nice cocktails. The staff were all really friendly & we said we'd definitely go back again & try something else sometime.

Not a place I would normally visit, sat on the side of a main road watching people going in and out of the takeaway nearby but joining friends for a meal I was surprised at the quality (had the sea bass risotto and my partner had a pizza with fries) the service was good and prices although on the highs side matched the quality of food. Will definitely be back to sample more of the menu

We had pre-ordered but were still kept waiting a long time for our meals. There were mistakes in the food that was brought to the table and my meal was luke warm at best.

Had lunch for the first time here. Waitress was very friendly and chatty. Bar staff were very good too with, no problem too much attitude.👍

Great food not so great service.

Had lunch today with a friend whose lasagne was dry stodgy and obviously reheated, the chicken in my "Caesar salad" was generous but tough and inedible, maybe had freezer burn. Coffees were good. No Manager available.

Had the vegan chillie and it was amazing. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely be back
