Another fabulous evening at Novello. Definitely worth the drive over from Cheshire and the overnight stay in the Clifton. We came specifically to dine at Novello. Really great Valentines vibe; courtesy of Tony, and Vera. Music as always perfect; Motown genre, not over powering just playing gently in the background. Salvatori is an amazing chef and I can see why the restaurant is always busy. Thankyou to Tony for always making us feel so welcome and to Vera for looking after us so warmly during the evening. Great family restaurant. If you haven’t visited you need to go. Best restaurant for miles around.

Novello provides the best food on the Fylde Coast. We decided to try the set menu and it was absolutely delicious as always. The cured salmon and avocado starter and beef medallions were presented beautifully and the beef was cooked to perfection.

We are regulars here and Novello remains the best restaurant in Lytham. The food, created by Sal is tasty and gorgeous. A nice friendly family restaurant, if you want a great dining experience then give it a try, you’ll not regret it.

Another fabulous dining experience at Novello. We came over from Cheshire to celebrate my birthday and we were not disappointed. A very warm welcome as always from the charming and charismatic Tony who owns the restaurant. Tony’s wife Vera looked after us beautifully and the delicious food was created by their son Salvatore. I think Novello has everything, a very warm, buzzing atmosphere, great 70s music that is playing quietly in the background, outstanding food and Tony and the team catering for your every need. We are already planning our next visit.

Our favourite restaurant on the Fylde coast - great food and service as always. The menu is great (modern Italian) and i noticed a few new mains had been added. I can highly recommend the King Prawn and Sausage starter its fantastic - the chef here really knows what he's doing 10/10 :)

Outstanding modern Italian Cuisine Novello is the only restaurant to dine or lunch in Lytham. Immaculate decor, indoor or outdoor dining with a stunning menu it’s hard to choose Every little morcel is a taste sensation. I had the lamb ravioli as a starter which was divine. Our friends chose the scallops and beetroot cannelloni which were equally delicious too. Tony the owner is very knowledgeable about the wines and he recommended a great Italian Chardonnay which worked perfectly with the starters and fish courses. The Italian red wine was very good too and very reasonably priced. We would never choose anywhere else to dine in Lytham. Compliments to Salvatore the chef! Thank you

Met up with a old school friend who lives in Lytham. There is a great selection of restaurants in the town and Novello was no exception. We were able to eat alfresco which is a rare treat on the Fylde Coast. The service was first class even though the staff seemed very young. I had a starter of smoked duck and scallops whose combination worked perfectly. Main course was linguine with shell food selection. Beautifully cooked and just the right size. Absolutely spot on, just a pity I live 270 miles away. Hope to return.

This our sixth visit to Novellos. A very warm welcome from Tony; a real character who owns the restaurant but this is a real family affair. Yesterday it was a pleasure to meet Vera who is Tony’s wife. She was equally welcoming and looked after our table The cuisine is on another level courtesy of Salvatore who is Tony and Vera’s son. Seriously this food is amazing; we wouldn’t eat anywhere else when visiting Lytham and do try to come over for special occasions which is a 1.5hr drive from our home.

We came for drinks only on this occasion but actually liked the look of the menu and would have returned. We asked if would could come just for a drink - the man showed us to a table but we definitely did not feel welcome. I ordered draught ( clearly on the menu) but was told it was unavailable ( less profit) We ordered our drinks and then we were asked to pay in advance for them! I paid assuming that it was their policy. We paid for and received our drinks and then other people entered the restaurant and were served drinks and were not asked for money in advance. It basically made myself and my daughter feel like criminals! Not great service. Would NEVER recommend. And on a footnote - if you want to sell over priced food and drinks at least have the class to provide a toilet with bog roll - FFS - thankfully we always carry our own paper !!!!!!!

Went to Novello on a Saturday afternoon. Only customers inside dining. Lovely clean and modern and soul music for background noise which suited us. The food served was beautiful, so tasty and well presented. Different to all the other Italian restaurants in Lytham. For somewhere special, this is the place to go.

Excellent restaurant (Italian) Ate here as a four on the evening of Thurdsay 16th March for a celebratory meal,and the food and service was outstanding. Tony chatted after the meal asking us where we were from. In fact it was the best evening meal we have eaten recently. Classic, with a laid back feel. Who knew that spaghetti could be so good and the lemon dessert was to die for. A lovely family meal just before Mothers Day. Enough not to feel stuffed. Stunning presentation. Thoroughly recommended. In fact it was recommended by a local business, thank you. The only thing that could improve it was to be able to thank the chef in person. What a talent! We will be back.

You will not be disappointed by the quality of the food. Do not expect a huge plateful but you get enough and the flavours and quality is just fabulous. Likewise the choice of wines. Well done, Tony we were very impressed, despite it being three years since we last visited - mainly due to Covid. I do not get to dine on the West Coast as often as I might and am never disappointed by this gem in Lytham.

arriving at our prebooked time we were told to wait in the minuscule bar area whilst our table was prepared.one hour and ten minutes later we were invited to our table. very small and cramped!some items of both food and wine we ordered from the menu were not available.service was polite and efficient and our food was good but certainly not exceptional.if this represents the best in Lytham -(as so many attest)- other establishments must be very poor! -or the reviewers very ill experienced in quality dining experiences.worth the wait? I have visited this fantastic restaurant a few times recently with my family , this is by far the best restaurant in this area , Tony the owner is a fantastic host , the staff are so helpful , they do everything they can to make sure you have a great meal, the food is first class , Faultless, thank you so much

My wife and I happened on here when looking for somewhere for lunch and we were lucky we did. Both had a seafood pasta which was perfect size for a lunchtime bite. A good beer and wine list complimented the great tasting food with both the scallops and prawn with chilli and garlic on point. A real great find and definitely on the list for a return visit

I wouldnt recommend as i have been there for a meal today and I asked for a steak medium rare to rare and it came out blue i told them about it and all i got was its still okay to eat! There is no social distancing what so ever we're in a pandemic arnt we? As I asked for my bill the owner got in my face to give me my bill considering he didn't have a mask on! Also I had to tell him to leave a ramp down as there is a disabled person who need a wheelchair who lives in the flat at side of novello and he takes the ramp up and moves it so when she's home she canr get in her own home! They have no respect at all

Got told to come here by one of our customers and wow. Instantly greeted and seated by such polite staff. The food was absolutely insane, it’s another level on anything else in the area. Can’t wait to re visit already and try other things on the menu! Well done Novello!

Lovely food, very well presented, it really should have a Michelin Star, I had fish and my husband had the beef, also tasty scallops, cooked to pefection, the chef should be proud at what he produces , great quality food made with care and attention well done, I hope one day he will get a Michelin Star he deserves one

We were very impressed upon picking up our box - clear instructions & labelled plastic containers for each course. It was actually good fun & very easy putting the dishes together & we felt a real sense of achievement at the end although our presentation did not quite match up to Sals we were proud of our efforts!! (Maybe include a photo of how each dish should look).Each course turned out brilliantly & made us realise how lovely it was to eat Novello’s food again. Just had the Novello at home experience for the first time. Was a bit unsure what it would be like, particularly with having to add the final touches at home. We should never have worried, this was superbly brought together with very clear instructions resulting in a fantastic 3 course meal. This reminded us of what we’ve been missing during lockdown and can’t wait to go back when the restaurant is back open but will definitely use the at home service again in the meantime.

Booked a table for three, they called us back to confirm we were from the same "Bubble" explained to them that we were two staff supporting a service user, when we arrived we entered and waited to be seated, there were two vacant tables right next to us. Waitress came to take our name and then went back to staff at the back of restaurant to speak to them ?!?!? When she returned she informed us that our table was downstairs. We were supporting someone who was using a walking frame and who clearly could not descend a spiral staircase, waitress/staff made no attempt to seat us on either of the two vacant tables, and did not say these tables were reserved (they were not set/laid ) when I said service user could not get down the stairs all she could say was sorry. Obviously we did not fit their criteria of acceptability and were shockingly discriminated against because disability and appearance. The lady we were supporting also has some learning disabilities and was very upset that we were not able to dine there.

Me and my partner love to experience Michelin Star restaurants and i can happily say Novello is up there with the best. What a phenomenal experience. The food was exceptional.

First time visitors after meaning to go for a while, did not disappoint. The food was delicious, my partner had the lobster Thermidor and lamb, I had the goats cheese and beetroot ravioli and beef, the beef was amazing. We finished off with creme brûlée and cheese. The staff were very attentive in these difficult times. Lovely evening will be back.

I never write reviews but feel I had to on this occasion. This place is awful. We got bombarded with phone calls the night before our booking to get us to pay £25 deposit, we gave all our card details for them to tell us actually their card machine wasn’t working and could we ring back tomorrow. My husband rang back after work to be told actually we don’t need to pay a deposit but our table had been moved to a later slot because he didn’t answer his phone whilst he was at work, we said that was fine though as we were flexible. We arrived, stood in the entrance waiting to be seated without so much as an acknowledgement for 10 minutes. We then got seated and sat there for 20 minutes with no drinks or food order being taken or even a friendly hello. After 20 minutes we decided enough was enough and left and went to the Italian down the road (farina & co) - much better atmosphere, service and friendly staff. The atmosphere at novello was awful and the staff were so unfriendly - nobody even smiled or welcomed you. Would not recommend to anyone!

My favourite restaurant for special occasions. As always the food was amazing, delicious and well presented. The restaurant had hand sanitiser but no obvious signs of social distancing. The small restaurant was full and busy. One of our main meals did not arrive until the other meals were almost finished. When we mentioned this at the end of the meal when asked how everything was, we were told 'yes, my fault'. The make of wine ordered was not the make of wine that was served, although the wine was lovely. When I mentioned this at the end of the meal there was a comment but no apology. I love eating at Novello and would highly recommend the food but it sometimes feels as though as a customer you are there to be tolerated. This is not always the case. I will return to Novello and keep my fingers crossed the mood is a good one.

I would highly recommend Novello. The food, wine, service and overall atmosphere oozes fine dining. The chef is extremely talented and the waiting staff make sure that you are taken care of from the moment you enter. I will most definitely be visiting again in the near future. Novello has to be one of the best restaurants in the North West.

Good food but small portions & insufficient menu training for waiting staff. Not a deal-breaker, however, told to go upstairs from basement dining area to pay bill in contradiction of COVID rules & forced to wait in close contact with other diners as well as kitchen pass to pay bill.

All I want to say is if you have any special dietary requirements don’t go here! I simply can’t abide pretentious owners who feel Gluten Free/ Vegan requirements are a nuisance! It is a fact that for some people they are a complete necessity for health reasons!!!!

There are just some times when you feel the need to write a review... this is one of them. It's a while since we've been to Novello as the result of lockdown, but our return was simply fabulous. The quality and presentation of the food (and the taste) were excellent. The welcome and the service provided by Toni and his team were first class. This is probably the best food in Lytham. It's a little bit different, a little bit niche...Starters of Beetroot cannelloni, and King prawn and spicy sausage, followed by Rose Veal and Tagiatelli Pepati were each wonderful, as was the sticky toffee pudding.We will be back(... Soon).

And it didn’t disappoint at all. Due to the three month enforced shut down we wanted to go on the night he reopened. In these uncharted and uncertain times it is difficult to know what to expect. Tony has laid the restaurant out with less tables to observe the 1 metre social distancing and has stickers on the floor to remind you. All the staff wear face masks and he had disposable menus as well. We felt completely comfortable and at ease so we could enjoy the evening. The menu is slightly shorter than before but still with plenty of choice. The food as always was sublime as was the service and always with a smile! I really missed that Turbot over the last 3 months. Well done Tony and Novello that’s how to make people feel at ease and ensure your customers have an enjoyable evening.

Family celebration meal which was beautiful. The food and presentation was excellent. All staff attentive and friendly. The restaurant let us bring in a birthday cake and helped us in the serving of it. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back.

Novello. Where to start? Hands down the best food in Lytham. We had an excellent meal last night, marred only be me repeatedly punching myself in the face because I was annoyed with myself for not coming every week. The food is outstanding. The signature starter of Tuna Tartar was nothing short of sublime, flavoured beautifully with tiny onions and other pockets of umami bombs. Lovingly presented, I couldn’t wait to scoff the lot. The prawn and spicy sausage was simply delicious and I could have eaten that sauce all day long. Squid ink tuile (I think it was squid ink) was a lovely touch. Mains were blinking brilliant - the halibut utterly beguiling with its citrusy foam and the spicy prawn spaghetti cooked to pasta perfection. All of this amazingness was washed down with a face slapping bottle of something beautiful from Puglia, at the owners recommendation and, my oh my, did it do the job. Service was attentive, but not too much. The chef had finished by the time we were done with our meal, which is a shame as I would have stuffed him in the boot of the cab and whisked him away to cook for my girlfriend and I for the remainder of our lives. Thank you Novello, I promise to come see you more often and will never leave you. Go, just go!!!!

What a wonderful evening we had... absolutely spoilt with the gorgeous food and the impeccable service. The most delicious homemade pasta, perfectly cooked fresh seafood, served beautifully with love and passion by the very talented chef Salvatore... thank you so much, yoi spoilt us. We just love this restaurant, the food and staff make it very special and is our firm favourite. We are lucky enough to be able to go a few times a month and hate missing our visits. Some complain that the portions are on the small side but we always leave with a full belly. If you love good food then give it a try, you will not regret it.

This is local for us and is a lovely little restaurant. Pleasant staff and speedy but not rushed service . It’s clean and fresh inside but a little lacking in atmosphere. I really don’t know how this could be improved by the owner though and maybe this was just on the night we visited. The food was well presented and tasted amazing. I had the crab starter and the Seabass main . It was let down by the extremely small portions meaning we were still hungry after the two courses even with bread and sadly every dish was served with mash potato in a separate pot and the seabass also sat in a bed of mash. It seemed this was used as a cheap filler. If you are satisfied by small portions then you would be ok. The flavours were very good and the dishes showed skilled techniques. It was in the higher price bracket but there were some pasta and risotto dishes that were more reasonable. I would like to return and try the taster menu .

This gem of a restaurant tucked away from the main shops in Lytham is a star act. Beautifully presented food , fresh ingredients and an interesting selection of wines. Mr.Lioveri controls front of house, discreetly omnipresent moving amongst regulars and guests with ease. Some carefully chosen, and I would guess personally imported Italian wines by him, just add that extra dimension of care and love of good food. His son, Salvatore, runs the kitchen and produces the type of modern Italian cuisine that leaves you with deep admiration. Likely a smartly dressed Italian, it all looks beautiful and so simple but you know he has thought about the balance of flavours, the presentation and the effect is an edible delight.Please take my recommendation that it was well worth driving an hour from the Lakes to enjoy the wonderful food . But don't tell too many, as this is best kept away from the Michelin inspectors who might just give it a star and then who knows........

Novello’s continue to create the best food in the area. It’s consistently superb in all areas. It’s around 6-7 months since we came but we left with the same feelings of WOW what an amazing evening. Great food, great service, great wine and a full restaurant with atmosphere which sometimes in the past did not exist. 4 of us came out and agreed the food was spectacular. We are all foodies and love fine dining, we are not really huge eaters so Novello’s suits us all. We would all rather have 3 courses and thoroughly enjoy them all and have the best flavours and pretty to look at when presented. This is what you get here at Novello’s.My crab starter looked beautiful, small but the tastes were delicious, my wife also had the crab, one of our guests had the pasta with lobster which looked amazing and he confirmed. The aromas were fantastic. Everyone’s plates were completely cleared and everyone was very happy. Puddings were also amazing and my Sticky Toffee was divine. No excuses if you have not eaten here, you must. It’s the best restaurant in the area by a long way.

Fantastically cooked food and served with flair but small portions don't necessarily equate with a good experience. If you are hungry either go for the pasta dish (Mrs Lyon adored hers) or go elsewhere. Why chefs (and management) think if you serve minsicule amounts it means class is beyond me. Lytham is in Lancashire the home of hot pot and black pudding -we like food and lots of it. Some of the touches - skilled as they might be - are straight out of bygone masterchef and don't necessarily blend together. I cant see us going back but would encourage others to make their own mind up. Ps: Mrs Lyon says it deserves 4 stars but hey Im writing the review.

We were staying in Blackpool and needed something more upmarket and found his wonderful Italian restaurant just 15 mins drive away! We were fortunate that they could accommodate a table for 2 early on a Saturday night for us to enjoy an epic meal!!!

Found the restaurant by chance, warmly welcomed without a booking, The food was excellent, freshly prepared, the staff were very efficient and friendly without being fussy. Good wines, interesting menu. Portions are fine for sensible eaters! Nice ambience, spotlessly clean

Via a distant relative I was invited for dinner here. Lovely decor and ambience but kept waiting for our table for over an hour without apology. Not impressed. When the food came I actually almost laughed at the tiny crab starter. It looked like a tiny appetiser or sample of a dish. The ‘main course’ was like a free sample tapas, so tiny and anti climactic after all the drama of waiting for the actual meal. I left feeling ripped off and very disappointed. I have eaten in man European countries, especially in Italy but I have never had such a disappointing experience as this. Give this place a miss to avoid disappointment.

This place is a sociological experiment asking the question ‘at what point will the customers rebel?’. The food is pretentious tapas at outrageous prices.

Loved Novello! Delicious bites. I had the beetroot ravioli appetizer and the cod with beef chef ravioli. My husband had the crab salad and the veal with raisin jam. Everything was so good and so beautifully presented! My husband thought the veal was the best he had ever had. The service was also very good.

We ordered our food-after the waiter had checked with the kitchen thst we could?? After an hour we asked where it was. The waiter said she had been reminding the kitchen and checked again. She can back and apologised and said they were going to cook it now??? The owner came down and I said it wasn't really acceptable and he said it's only been 45 minutes. So apparently 45 mins is ok. And it had actually been 1.10. He said well you didn't have starters and we did those first. What a stupid excuse. Didn't even apologise. And they weren't that busy. We were the first to order downstairs and upstairs there were only 6 people. Won't be returning. No matter how good the food is it's not worth the wait and the attitude. The waiter was lovely

Enjoyed a fantastic meal at Novello taking their 6 course tasting menu (Passion). It was difficult to decide which was the best dish because all were excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to any lovers of Italian food but also those who enjoy fine dining. The price is very reasonable when compared to your typical high end restaurants.

Had a superb meal at Novello , excellent service from our waitress who couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was very special, each course was stunning, we finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Baileys Ice Cream! Wow! Just try it! The owner was very attentive. John Ardern

Excellent helpful service, good beer, imaginative menu and quality ingredients presented with flair. Both the crab and the prawn spaghetti dishes were outstanding, and the sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Only slight criticism was that Italian Sauvignon Blanc doesn’t compare to their New Zealand cousins. Top quality dining, we will definitely return.

This restaurant is slightly away from the main restaurant area of Lytham but worth the 5 minute walk. It is more expensive than the run of the mill restaurants but the food is exquisite. Service excellent and no rush. For a special occasion this is the restaurant to go to in Lytham

The food when it arrived was good, we waited an hour for our starter and got no apology

Very inflated prices for very little food. The food was good quality but for the prices charged I would have expected more in the way of quantity. The grilled cauliflower referred to as part of a main dish turned out to be a slither of one small floret, and £4.50 for the smallest extra portion of spinach was bordering on insulting. And pretentious? Beetroot cannelloni served on the very edge of an oversized empty plate was just silly. Service was also indifferent. Dining out in a place like this is supposed to be a pleasant and complete experience - I left just feeling unhappy and cheated.

Just a pretentious restaurant. The food itself was good but while the restaurant is trying to be “fine dining” it just doesn’t measure up in the service department.

This restaurant is up there with the best. Yes it's expensive but you pay for quality and you get it on a plate. Just try for any food lover

We came here on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the owner very welcoming, and the food... Was fabulous! I wish we lived near here to be able to come back regularly, what a treat. Modern Italian cuisine presented artistically and tasting fabulous. Thank you.
