The Cafe food was a big disappointment. Admittedly, we only wanted a sandwich and I asked for Gluten free bread. What arrived were 2 slices of white rubbery squared sliced bread, a thin scraping of tuna and mayo ( no butter) the smallest amount of salad on the side. Honestly it was pathetic and unappetising. something that could maybe cost at best £2 to make was £8.00. The coffee was lukewarm but more generous. We had to walk out of the main cafe entrance and around the front of the building carrying our drinks, to get to the outside seating area. Not much cop all in all.

My wife and I called in to have morning coffee and to buy an afternoon tea gift for two friends and were horrified to find that the prices had effectively doubled to £19.95 per person, to cap it all they then charged us £40 because their gift card vouchers only come in £s not pence. When we complained they gave us 10p cash back. I would love to see a breakdown of their pricing for the afternoon teas as their website shows two course lunches for £12.95, where's the comparison!!!! I just hope it proves to be worth the £19.95 per person that we paid. MOST DISAPPOINTED.

Two extremely tiny slices of pork, roast potatoes over cooked, Yorkshire pudding hard as pullets and veg was just green beans and peas . Totally gross . Only one dessert , jam roly poly. Declined that . Cheap food aimed at pensioners I think who possibly eat small portions. Disappointing

The reopening of the refurbished restaurant was a long time coming, and it was just as well that I – as the Privilege card holder – had ascertained beforehand that under the ‘new’ rules, the 2 for 1 meals are no longer allowed at weekends (so no more Sunday roasts, part of the – albeit modest – ‘clawback’ of the Privilege bonuses); this should really be more clearly included in the advertising, rather than in the link “ * Full terms and conditions” to the website… so we visited on Friday 6th March, a week after the restaurant opened and when we were no longer limited to the draughty marquee with hot main meals being essentially jacket potatoes, served in cardboard ‘plates’. We arrived at about 12:30, when it was starting to fill up.In spite of the Special: Dingley Dell Sausage & Mash for £7.95 still looming large on the website promotional page, we saw no sign of it being available on site, either on the sandwich board by the entrance or on the menu boards inside. With the completely new layout of the restaurant, I presume the three spread-out counters/order & pay points are meant to make the process of ordering faster/more efficient. It didn’t help that one of the three was closed, and there was considerable confusion about where to queue for what. The computer system serving the till points turned out to be new as well so the ladies behind the counters were still coming to terms with how to work it. In the absence of a roast or sausage & mash, we both ordered fish & chips (now priced at £10.95), and since I will only consume mushy peas in pea soup, I asked for a substitution; it would have been nice to have been offered a free choice of vegetable, but I could only have garden peas instead. We chose to have our free cuppas after the meal, so they would be hot when we got to them. Just as well, because we had a fair wait before we got served – by then it was quite busy, and we got the impression that the kitchen could not keep up with the speed orders were coming in; also the more sprawling nature of the layout meant it was more difficult for the servers to find the right tables, there was quite a lot of milling about holding plates, and in spite of the baffle around the serving hatch, at four tables distant I could clearly hear what the chef was saying from behind the hatch. The condiments table was neatly arranged, with squeezy bottles of ketchup (full) and mayonnaise (close to empty), separate tubs for individual items of cutlery, inexplicably tiny, single layer napkins only large enough to cover one knee and a water dispenser next to the trays of glasses – all very efficient and hygienic. When we got our meal, we noticed immediately that the peas resp. mushy peas portions were modest to say the least, served in the same size tub as the tartare sauce, the portion of chunky chips (underneath the fish instead of previously served in a separate container) was positively miserly, and the rectangular plate had a covering of greaseproof paper with the Notcutts logo printed all over it underneath the meal, its point totally eluding us: superfluous since plates are already greaseproof, annoying because by the time we’d cut through the fish we’d be cutting through the paper, by then soggy and rumpling, as well as an unnecessary waste of paper. We mentioned this to one of the managers (we assume), who assured us he would feed that particular detail back. The meal itself was a bit of a mixed bag: the homemade tartare sauce was indeed delectable, the chunky chips were perfectly cooked, the batter was so thin and crisp that I had to break off the tail bit and dip it in the sauce to eat with my fingers since it shattered under knife and fork (I normally don’t eat all the batter but on this occasion I did, it was so yummy)… On the other hand, the garden peas were dry in spite of sitting in a little puddle of water at the bottom of their very small tub and the fish was overcooked – the object of battering is that it cooks the fish inside just right, when it should be perfectly flaking and moist; but by the time we had chewed each mouthful a few times, the texture of the fish was akin to chewing on cloth; I had to refill my glass of water to counteract the dryness. Disappointing, because we both love fish.We decided to indulge in an ice cream afterwards.Having read on the Jude’s Ice Cream advertising board that beside the standard flavours on offer, a line underneath advised “Ask about our guest flavours”, I chose the counter where there was no queue, the one nearest the entrance, where I had a longer wait than anticipated because of the newness of the till points computer system. As it turned out, there was no freezer with ice creams behind this counter, the lady working the till point had to make her way across to the far end to enquire what the guest flavour was; unfortunately, there were none available that day, and she had to order the ice creams from the kitchen since the dedicated ice cream freezer behind the order point was playing up. When the tubs arrived, the ice cream inside was rock hard and my ice cream had a line of ice crystals round one side. On my way past I heard the manager discreetly tell the lady behind the till point that waiting time was an hour – further proof that the kitchen was not keeping up with the faster process of ordering. For our free cuppas we had an Americano (which is still available but not mentioned on the menu boards, and which appears to be different from the advertised ‘filter coffee’) and a hot chocolate. Since the drinks are now served in proper cups, they both stayed hot until we finished them. When I visited the Ladies I noticed there are now three spanking new, spacious, clean cubicles but unfortunately in the middle one (which I chose first) the dispenser was completely devoid of paper, with no spare roll in evidence; a bit of luck I checked before it was ‘too late’! No complaints about the friendliness of the staff, but there are clearly some teething problems which we hope will be resolved soon.

The restaurant has now been refurbished and extended. Bright welcoming interior. We had ordered granaryOur main meal was completely wrong, not as ordered. After pointing this out to staff, we reluctantly ate the changed meal as we didn’t wish to delay the meal any longer, because of the grandchild .Our main complaint was that the restaurant advertises a 2 for 1 lunch meal, with notcutts privilege card. On paying we were advised that this offer was not available at weekends. There was no notification of this change, in fact each table was advertising the offer as well as the free monthly drinks. After discussions with senior staff, All we received back was they would discuss it with their marketing department. We also overheard other customers, complaining. Rather concerned though that I could easily of cracked a tooth & will another time just stick to a cuppa coffee.

I have been going to Notcutts for some time to buy our spring plants and also Christmas decorations. But during last week we went to the café for the first time ... and it was great. We sat on the veranda in the sunshine looking at the plants eating a cream tea. Pure bliss, and I'm looking forward to going again. Good value too.

Nipped in here for lunch. Coffee was nice. Although price for a club ciabatta was ridiculous for the tiny portion size Shame it's not home cooked food as this would make a lovely place to go.

Notcutts seems to have been here as long as I can remember and we always call in when in the town. Added bonus is the café where you can get breakfast dinner etc in a log cabin style building.

The coffee was of a good quality and would recommend but having had that with a £2.50 blueberry muffin - all I can say is I’m glad the coffee was good and the cafe is a comfy place to meet. The cake was not worth the money and would not recommend. Coffee only next time.

We thought we would go for lunch we were a bit early so we decided that we would have a pot of tea first, when we got the tea and cups they were filthy dirty with dirt and dust we had to wipe the cups before we used them. So we never bothered with lunch which is understandable, the staff were not very polite either.

I occasionally drop in to this restaurant whilst browsing the planteria in the hope that it will be better than the last visit. I am yet to be pleasantly surprised.I have no problem with the attitude of the staff, they do seem to be diligent and hard-working and the general layout and ambience of the place is fine.I do however find the food rather average, and not always served as I hot as I would like, particularly the cappuccinos which are almost always lukewarm. I also find the quality and range of the cakes and pastries rather poor value for money. It's a pity, as I would love to be able to recommend a visit to this cafe, but there are many superior venues in and around this delightful town

Notcutts Restaurant is an excellent green Mecca for a vegetarian or reliable Best English Breakfast-all at reasonable prices- for the discerning visitor and local clientele in Woodbridge.I visited twice after recent rapid motorway drives early am to Woodbridge to visit family in Town and Ipswich Hospital and was really looking forward to the Notcutts filling breakfast at 9 a.m..I can recommended this venue as being outstanding in customer service and punctuality to the hungry hunter for a decent breakfast.

Visited the restuarant/garden centre for the first time in many years. Was not impressed with the unhelpful check out girl who was more interested in chatting with her collegue than serving customers and when I asked for a bag for my goods, said "you would have got one anyway" and "I'll let you pack the goods away yourself" in a "can't be bothered to help" attitude before turning her back on me to talk to her friend. Shameful customer service for a long established company such as this. Notcutts you're a fine restuarant/garden centre but your staff let you down on this occasion.

I was immediately struck by the ambience of the Notcutts café. As my fiancée and I began to survey the wide choice of beverages and the delectable selection of edibles, it became clear to us that we were indeed in a fine establishment. The astonishing array was daunting at first, but our caution soon turned to utter delight, quicker than I later consumed triple chocolate muffin. Although some see the muffin as an item of mundane stature, the fine chefs at Notcutts put an interesting twist on the classic dish - supplying a creamy, rich but yet engagingly refreshing consistency and flavour. To anyone wishing to visit this establishment, I (and my fiancée), certainly recommend it. A memorable visit.

Visited Notcutts with my partner, Mum and little dog and decided to have some lunch from the restaurant. We sat out on the verandah, which would have been nice had the weather been better. We opted for the 'special' roast pork with all the trimmings, which to be honest was a bit of a disappointment - especially having to pay £9.95 each for just that one course. The meat was okay but the vegetables were quite hard and tasteless. The service was fine however. The ladies were friendly and our meals were brought out to us fairly quickly.

Having enjoyed a walk around Woodbridge and the River area we called into Notcutts for a walk around the plants but also decided to stop and have a coffee and snack. As it was mid afternoon there wasn't a huge choice of cakes left and no scones, but we both selected our choice and ordered coffees. Cheerful friendly service but a bit slow as staff seemed to wander from one task to another without seemingly have any plan. Usually have to wait for drink to cool as I drink black coffee but not in this case, it was luke warm after only a few mins. Food OK but no better than other similar outlets. Nice building and facility but better options in town.

I sat for quite a while observing the staff here one Sunday afternoon whilst waiting for food. The hygiene of the chefs and serving staff leaves a lot to be desired. For a start none of chefs cooking the food have any kind of hat or hair net on. Food was being moved about on the plates, whilst on the serving hatch, by the chefs hands. Surely tongs or gloves would be better? Then I saw a server behind the counter was busy wiping her nose with her fingers then picked cups up by placing finger tips inside of them rather than using the handles.
