Nortons Digbeth in Birmingham

Followed the signs for 'creamy pints', what we got was clueless, lazy staff. Stood awaiting service for 10 mins, barman served a couple that walked in after us, whilst we stood beside a group of others who'd also been ignored. They left, as did we. 2 female staff looked at us, walked away, avoiding work. We all took our custom elsewhere, where it was appreciated.

Came for the selection of beers and the craic. Left with fond memories and a bag of Taytos. What more can you ask?!

Service has gone massively downhill. Paying premium prices. Inattentive bar staff to the point of frustration.

Barman served our drinks in plastic cups and when we asked for glasses he said they're busy. They weren't busy

Great place for if you are just passing and having a friendly night out live music on Saturday's worth a visit security tight but polite.

Really below par tonight from the bar staff. Got served twice in the same spot, then waited 10 mins while others got served pretty much immediately. When I challenged one of the staff, he said you have to go to the other bar to get served. Rather than repair the damage, he got really defensive. It seems you have to be a mind reader in this place to suit the staff. Love this bar but will leave it a while until I go back and give the new staff time to bed in as they are generally new faces and not appreciative of their clientele l.

Gave this venue several attempts with no avail. Called and spoke via web in regards to watching certain sports, yes definitely have the game on please come down. Turned up, oh no we don’t have that game on! This happened twice. Then tried another game, yes they had it on but no volume, again twice ! Guinness was so so Staff were so so. Breakfast wasn’t the best. Toilets were rank. Won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend

Great place to watch a match. The Irish breakfast looks stunning. Shall try next time perhaps.

So me and my partner traveled to Birmingham from London to spend the day with family watching the Celtic game,arrived at 12 to find doors shut, at 12:28 still not open. So off we went to Hennessy bar round the corner having booked an outside table at nortons what a waste of time won’t be bothering again

Great food, great Guinness, staff and atmosphere outstanding.

Service is a bit inattentive but the vibe is great.

Went to Nortons for the first time yesterday morning. The Guinness was very good and the full Irish Breakfast was outstanding - one of the very best cooked breakfasts I’ve ever had.

It's got a good security check-in. I give it to the security guys bcos they're doing a great job. Surely a place to have fun with nice music band and stage. They've got a variety of drinks with a long stretched bar with nice poters. Although the outer part seems a small space, I didn't get into the upper level or inner bar. I recommend a night hang out with friends for sure🍻💖👍

Visited midweek for a quick drink before a gig at the o2 institute. Some pints weren't on but got served quickly and plenty of seating in or outdoors.

Good atmosphere, great food, a decent selection of drinks and brilliant staff.

We had a great night last night (euros semi final). One of our group needed a bit of help from the staff and everyone of them was great and sorted the issue. We all really enjoyed it.

Went to watch the All Ireland hurling semi final yesterday but it wasn't on, evidently due to Nortons full focus on the England game. Very disappointing and it was obviously a case of is cuma faoi na hEireannaigh nuair a bhìonn airgead i gceist.

Love this place, great vibe and a beautiful pint of Guinness. Not had food yet but will definitely try soon. Always our first stop on a Digbeth Guinness day drinking sesh. 100% recommended 👌🏽

The Guinness lives up to the hype, great selection of ales too, the Whiskey list is incredible & the spice bag the perfect thing to keep you going. Lovely staff & a friendly crowd in there. The Rose of Digbeth if ever there was one!

Popped in there today at 10.15am. What a lovely welcome from the Manager & staff. We had a sausage, bacon & cheese muffin with a hash brown on the side with tea & coffee. It was an absolute bargain at £14.90 for the two. Compliments to the chef 👏🥇 i have to say ‘It was better than sex ‘😋. Well done all of you for providing a great breakfast. 🥇💯

Nothing irish about this place other then the serving of guiness and a sign or two. Pizza was nice. Tables were reserved when we got in. Totally understanding as the rugby was on. We sat at a table that didn't have a reserve tile on it, told to move, this happened twice. Table infront of us which were there long before us where told 15 minutes before the time, while eating their food that the table was now reserved and they had to move. Left after that.

Full Irish actually. Great staff, really friendly. Fantastic service. Tried to split a few too many G's on the day!!! Note the ghostly winner. All in good fun. Shall be going back for sure.

Atmosphere great, music great, service good, prices ridiculous!! Over £6 for a bog standard bitter but worse than that, £3 for a pint of tap water with about 10p worth of blackcurrant cordial in it!! That's just daylight robbery.

Fantastic pub and the best Guinness I've had in ages.

Travelled from Plymouth to meet up with friends for another friend's 50th birthday party. It was absolutely fantastic meet people who I've not spoken to or seen in over 35 years.

If you are ever in Digbeth and you need a little pick me up, don't bother calling your coke dealer, just head to Norton's, prop up the bar and with a smile and knowing wink, ask for a portion of Chips with Irish Curry Sauce. Life will never be the same, you'll forever feel a gnawing feeling in your heart, other chip purveyors will fade away from your memory, your mouth will water at the mere mention of Norton's, your friends and family will ask why there's a tear in your eye as you hear the theme music to Father Ted and you will reply, "Norton's Chips with Irish Curry Sauce. Get there immediately 😉

Here today watching the 6 Nations the food was extremely good the meat pizza and the spicy chips unusual but amazingly good

I went here a few weeks ago. Friendly staff and a good choice of drinks. Lovely outdoor seating area with heaters (I think). Great DJ on the night. However I will say I saw quite a few 18/19 year old girls that looked more than a bit drunk which is slightly concerning.

Best Irish breakfast in Brum, Guinness is spot on and all the staff are sound. Was my haunt for a long time before I moved home. Love the place 🇮🇪

Mens toilets were out of use. The times that I've been in winter the venue is freezing cold. Staff are generally friendly, but service can be slow. IMO not a great place, far better in Birmingham.

Top notch venue and bar. Very supportive to trad musicians.

Great place staff very welcoming would highly recommend especially if like Irish music as well. Came here to watch the Celtic game. They struggled to get it on which was sorted eventually. Gave us a free drink to apologise. We will definitely be back.

Not enough staff on the bar, so you may wait a while. Doesn't seem fair for the staff to have to rush around like that.

Good atmosphere,we were there to see music. Food was good. Good venue for live music . Unpleasant smell from the male toilets permeated into the corridor. Female toilets were nice and clean .

Great pub, quick service, great staff too. The outdoor area is lovely when it isn't throwing it down. The prices are decent in addition.

Popped in for a breakfast was first class decent price and barman friendly and helpful if I lived here I’d be there every week.

Door staff walking around the venue with hoods up , trying to force any issues to enable them to get physical and eject customers. Slammed to the ground outside the venue when walking out unaided to leave the venue. Shocking door team !!

Pint is £5.50, half a pint is £3.50 - work that one out!

I've not been inside Nortons. Just to see the Forward in Unity mural around July 2020 and it's replacement street art of King Kong in August 2023. Both pieces by Gent 48. The Jameson street art is still visible on the side of the Victorian building.

Wherever you go, Guinness is always chilled to the point it goes flat. Norton's, a true Irish heritage bar, bucks the trend to give you a proper, creamy Irish Guinness. Out of all the bars, pubs and places I've been to in Birmingham, Norton's is at the top of my list of favourite places in the world ❤️

A great place day or night for the craic and creamy pints! Only a few mins walk from New Street Station and the Bullring. Plenty of live music all year round. Home from home!

Stopped here after the all Ireland final to see the hurling boys play. Good crowd, good pint and excellent music. Definitely be back

Great place live music venue .Great for drinks .Went during pride 2023 so was busy .Staff are great .Not always able to do food but excellent when it's on .Struggling for staff as hospitality can be . Costs for staff ,beer and food during cost of living crisis keeps going up .This is a reasonable venue and the bands and wide range of music make it somewhere more unique for an experience. I personally want to support buisness like this to keep going as its a hidden gem 💎 it supports up and coming and known local acts and we need these places to still exist. Thanks Sarah Smith 😊

Absolute disgrace, been many times for Celtic games and great atmosphere, for Scottish cup final today the manager decided with a full beer garden decided to put music on instead. Pathetic excuse about timers despite having perfectly good sound for English cup final. A pretend Irish pub. Celtic fans avoid at all Costa

Fantastic pub - been here many times and always have a good time. Whether its a few pints on the way to the blues, going to a gig or just a random night always is a good atmosphere. Lots of screens for sports and a cracking pint of Guinness! Keep it up Nortons!

Went to this Irish pub to watch Leinster v La Rochelle, only being shown on outside big screen! At half-time switched to Arsenal match! Had to join a couple of strangers in a booth to watch the second half. Thought that this was pretty poor for arguably the biggest club match involving an Irish team this year. Guinness has gone up 50p since my last visit (only a couple of months).

The whistling donkeys were brilliant but the room was too crowded and it felt unsafe if we had to evacuate quickly.also it was dangerous having barrels all over the dance floor

Came here for st Patrick's Day. The bands were awesome and as a quarter Irish person with little actual knowledge of Irish music I felt obliged. Turns out i love it. It was packed and took ages to get drinks but to be expected on Paddy's day. Surprisingly no fights or arguments at all and everyone was lovely. Will go back.

An incredible amount of predatory men leering and approaching potentially vulnerable young women with the security staff showing a reluctancy to do anything. The state of the place was pretty dire. Filthy and it stank. Good luck to the women who try to get away, they won't be able to run as the floor is so sticky.
