Went for Xmas meal with work. Unexpectedly good quality meal and prompt service.

A perfect Christmas eve treat ,food was amazing, lovely atmosphere, the service was excellent definitely worth a visit.

Came for our family Christmas meal. Starters were nice, but all of the children's starters never arrived just their mains. Main meals were quite cold and some of the vegetables still frozen. One of the puddings was also frozen in the middle. Shame as we like this place normally, and it wasn't busy! Christmas decorations were lovely though x

Cold is the best word to describe our visit. The food was cold, mentioned it to staff and they have the impression of not caring. Our table was in the middle right by the door, so we were eating with our coats on and one of our party had to leave early as they were so cold. We mentioned this to staff again not bothered.

Well this was the 2nd year we’ve come here for our Christmas celebrations and it will be our last!! Due to the numbers in our party we eventually managed to get two tables together, granted we were not having food food there was at least a minimum 8 of us ordering drinks from 2pm till 5.15pm. Then with 10 minutes we were presented with a card saying these tables were reserved from 5:15pm!! The member of staff was awful and lied when she said it had been on the table for 2 hours!! When it blatantly had not, but when we requested cctv they suddenly changed their mind and said they only need to give 10 minutes notice!! It was an awful experience and when you think about it least 8 people have been affected we will pass this onto at least 4 -5 people each so who will lose out!! Not us xx

Absolutely amazing experience, I was visiting family in the area and came in for a bite to eat with the family, we had a lovely time the atmosphere was great, food tasted amazing and the service was top tier, I asked the waitress for her name as I was genuinely impressed with her hospitality. I was down for work from Glasgow, I popped in for some food after a long day of work, I was tired and didn't want to interact much however my waitress ( Jeralyn ) was absolutely amazing, she made my experience much more enjoyable and kept a massive smile on her face the full time even with my hard to understand Glasweigan accent 🤣. I will be back and suggesting to coworkers working in the area 😀

Went for a bottomless brunch, very disappointed. Service very slow , and had to keep speaking to staff to remind them about orders only one drink within the first hour, not enough staff the support the amount of tables books, will not be going back

Visited here last week and the service by Gerlin was second to none, absolutely had us howling with laughter and couldn’t do enough for us. Salmon kebab was out of this world as was the brownie

Came to Chester only for two nights and ended up in North Light for dinner and drinks. Wonderful experience with tasty food and live music. Bar team was excellent at recommending cocktails to try. Gerlyn and the team were great, we will be back.

I came out this afternoon for our works Christmas do. A few of us arrived early so ordered some drinks at the bar. 2 of us asked for a J20 which we were told was not stocked. We then asked the bar man what other still soft drinks were available to which he sneered and looked at us like we had just stepped out off the moon. Clearly he is not used to people requesting such things. We were then shown to our table with the rest of the group. The booking was made for 2:30pm. Our starters didn’t arrive until 3:15pm - to which not enough was provided for everyone - 2 people went without due to no thought about where the people with allergies were sat. The pre ordered main courses finally came out just after 4:15pm, was handed out in a random order so people on the same table were waiting for food that was being given to other people on other tables rather than giving a whole table at a time. I personally had the turkey kebab - sadly the vegetables were cold and the meat was lukewarm. No one came to check if everything was ok or to ask if more drinks were required. The desserts were better. All in all for £35.95pp plus the automatically added 10% service charge for a group of about 26 of us I really would have expected a lot better all round!

Had an amazing coffee with friends here the other day, would absolutely recommend, I was served by this lovely young woman Joy.

We were here on Saturday and was very happy with the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant was absolutely lovely, and the food was well-priced for the amount you get. We were served by Joy who was incredibly friendly and helpful.

I came for food here recently I had a really good time, my server Ania was amazing and looked after us really well, making sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be coming back soon.

The atmosphere was cozy and elegant, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious—especially the perfectly cooked steak and decadent chocolate dessert. Came here for a works do and had to wait almost 2 hours for pre ordered food which came out cold. Our server was lovely and bar staff were very friendly

The food was amazing however the service does NOT match the price of the food. We were still eating our starters when our main food arrived and then took our plates away even though we told them we were still eating. Not one person asked us if our food was okay. Also had to eat steak with a butter knife. Service was shocking!

Came in Friday 29th outrageous..charged over £7.50 each for a pint of morreti and it was absolutely dead as a do do don't I will be returning here

Unfortunately didn’t end up dining here. Waited a while for someone to appear to greet me. Lovely girl on first impression, gave me a menu and said I can sit anywhere. Chose a cosy table near Christmas decorations. Menu looked great and was excited but it seemed that unfortunately there was only one member of staff on and I didn’t have a lot of time so after 15 minutes of not being served I had to leave. Nothing bad to say about the girl but obviously understaffed so maybe needs looking at by management. A quiet monday night with a few tables however poor girl must have been busy. really disappointed

It was a quick decision to go in as we were passing. First impressions too noisy, very loud music. Thought of leaving as soon as we sat down but unfortunately we didn’t. The waitress was very pleasant. Starters to share - greasy Main course took a long time to arrive. We both had Vegan burgers, I complained mine was cold (husbands was ok) thinking it had been sat waiting to be brought to us… BIG mistake I did say it was cold and the waitress took it off the bill. Three hours later I started to feel unwell. Awake most of the night with D&V. On reading the reviews lots of people have had issues with cold food… would I go again ABSOLUTELY NOT… Chester has many very good restaurants, this is definitely not one of them.

Went to have lunch with friends, we had bunch of small plates one being Korean fried chicken which was a bit spicy but other than that portions were good. Although, the music was a bit loud would’ve preferred to have been seated somewhere quieter but the service made up for it our little black haired server was really excellent.

We came across North light bar on the search for a coffee break. This place has a lovely atmosphere. Had we not eaten already we would have most definitely given their menu a try. Coffee was lovely and we had a quiet spot tucked into a corner to relax. Next visit we will come back and eat.

Dog friendly, excellent food and good service

Went with elderly parents as birthday treat on a saturday afternoon, nice welcome from manager/owner but there was a singer/guitarist performing which we sat away from, only to discover his performance was being played thru the PA system. He was too loud and not that good to be honest. Good atmosphere in eating area from customers though not full. Menu looks good but a lot of it arrived either cold ( Harissa Cauliflower) or barely luke warm (vegan burger/chips) also chips with lamb were cold. A little more attention to food temp i would recommend but when your meal arrives cold you're never going to be happy. Served by three staff two just above average one (blonde) excellent. Would i revisit, probably not.

Drinks were nice. Not all drinks are available on the app, so had to go to bar to order them.

Went in to share a bottle of Prosecco to find it had increased in price from £15 to £33. Needless to say we went elsewhere which is a shame as decor & service is good with food quite good. See the previous review about lack of clients/atmosphere on a Friday to see where this venue is going wrong

Went to North Light for the first time on Friday night to catch up with a friend . We had small plates from the menu and they were really very good - shame they all came together as some of them went cold quickly . Drinks were really lovely - we had delicious cocktails and wine . Couldn’t fault the staff - extremely friendly and attentive service My only slight negative is the place didn’t have much atmosphere for a Friday night mainly because it was pretty quiet which was a shame. I’m sure it would feel different on a busier night . I would definitely recommend people to give it a try and I would certainly return for the food, drinks and warm welcome .

Two of us had dinner here last night and we were there in time for a drinks deal, so a bottle of Prosecco at £15.00 and a few small plates were chosen, half an aromatic crispy duck, noodle salad and calamari, all absolutely delicious. Great service, reasonably priced, would be more than happy to return and would recommend

Cancelling happy hour after a couple of weeks has raised the prices to ludicrous. Prosecco was £15 is now £33 a bottle. Who’s going to pay that apart from for a serious celebration? Not most Cestrians, we have more sense

Really good. I was very surprised with the quality of food as it looked more of a drinking than an eating place. However, quite authentic Korean fried chicken and other reasonably priced dishes means it’s worth a visit!

Went here for lunch with the gals and had a Houmous board and some patatas bravas. Food was really tasty although a tad expensive for what you get. The seating area is pretty and it was really quiet when we were there so it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Gorgeous light early evening meal of chicken Caesar salad, deliciously fresh and tasty. Sat outside which was really quite quiet given location, suspect it gets a lot more lively certain days if the week. Cheerful staff who do not push the alcoholic drinks, we stuck to water which we were offered on arrival but did contemplate the happy hour prices which seemed reasonable. My only tiny criticism was the sour dough bread side (which was amazing and huge) was a bit too covered in salt on the outside, didn’t really affect our enjoyment at all but found it a slightly too harsh too tasting crust.

Not the right place for a sit down evening meal unless you want something quick and are mainly there for the bar. Skewers were average and overpriced and came on a prison tray. Nice space, small plates and sharers are good but again probably best for a lunch vibe or evening drinks. Service was a little all over the place, had 4 different waiters over the course of 2 hours.

We have been here multiple times and it is always perfect; great service, great food, impeccable cocktails. We even had a surprise birthday celebration for 50 people here last September which went smoothly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Called in for a drink. Ordered tea for two. Served with the tiniest teapot that would normally be served for one person. Checked the pot to find only one teabag in it! Asked for another teabag to be told they normally put another one on the side?? Weird response. How is that tea for two people?? Sorry, but that's the last time we visit.

We booked for 49 guests after our wedding. Bethany was fantastic helping us both plan everything and making sure everything went smoothly on the day. The atmosphere and food were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and all our guests told us they’d had a great time. I would definitely recommend North Light for this kind of event. They really made our day. The staff were outstanding

Had a lovely meal with friends while on a day out in Chester, had chicken ceaser salad, it was plentiful & tasty, followed by raspberry cheesecake which was delicious, the service was excellent, the waitress was accommodating & knowledgeable on whatever we asked her, would definitely visit again if I was in Chester

Initially some lovely friendly service. On the other hand... DISGUSTING Hygiene practice's While using the toilets, a member of Kitchen Staff also used the toilet cubicle. He then left.. Without Washing his Hands. As I said DISGUSTING . Then he made his way back to the kitchen area, pushing and touching doors and then entered the Kitchen area. I brought this Fact to the attention of the Duty Manager who made lots of poor excuses, but said she would investigate and report back... needless to say I received no update, although I did wait around. I shall not be eating here.. ever. And further suggest you don't either... You don't know what bacteria may be lurking in your food, what was transferred to the door push and then onto every one else's hands preparing or carrying food to tables. This is possibly the worst I have ever encountered. Hopefully someone will take notice and rectify this behaviour... I doubt it was the first time 😱😱😱😱😱😱 UPDATE. Food hygiene standards check handling of food how food is stored how food is prepared cleanliness of facilities how food safety is managed Not whether staff wash their hands after using the toilet and re-enter the kitchen or food preparation areas... #justsaying

Had the most amazing time with my partner last Sunday. Saw the outside area when walking past and took a seat. Super comfy, amazing music and fantastic vibes. We were greeted by Ania, who took our food order with amazing recommendations on the small plates (gambas pil pil, garlic fougasse, arancini). Everything tasted so fresh and was super fast service to the table. We ventured up to the bar as we couldn’t decide what cocktail I would enjoy or what beer my partner would like. Jacob and Ben were amazing at this point, making myself a custom cocktail and talking my partner through all the bottles and draught beers. The Inception beer was fantastic. The friendliest, most attentive service I have ever received in Chester and the most incredible knowledge on all of the products.

Went to North Light for some lunch after shopping in Chester. I’ve been before for a pre-theatre evening meal and the lunch menu was just as good. Great atmosphere, food, and the service from Bethany was amazing. They had lots of vegan options which was great to see and the vegan Buddha bowl was so tasty. I’ll be back again soon! 🌱

Had another great meal at North Light this time six of us celebrating a birthday. The Gambas Pil Pi was amazing as always. Staff can’t do enough for you! Nothing is too much trouble. Definitely recommended!

First time visit on Tuesday to this lovely little venue... Atmosphere was great as was the food, I had a goats cheese salad, and the service, a charming young lady called Hayley, was very pleasant and attentive... Will definitely return.

Another place with lazy/careless bartenders. Asked for a Pepsi and the bartender gave me a diet coke without having informed me. I tasted it and instantly knew it wasn’t right so when I took it back to the bar, rather than being apologetic or saying it was a mistake, he said ‘well you didn’t specify full fat’ so he clearly did it on purpose. Two of our party are diabetic and if he had switched their drinks between full and no sugar without telling them it could be life threatening. I bet he wouldn’t substitute a normal beer with a 0% one - so why do it with soft drinks? Lovely to have the live music playing and inside is decorated nicely though.

Absolutely love this place, so beautiful, so cosy, great for meeting girlfriends or going on a date… I also go from time to time on the Tuesday evenings for Latin dance classes. Highly recommended! ❤️

We visited for the first time today and had a club sandwich and fries. Everything was beautifully presented and was tasty. Every one of the young staff members were really friendly,, polite and had a lovely sense of humour. The atmosphere was great and there was a couple of musicians singing and playing guitar. Ordered the North Light Club Sandwich which when came presented lovely tasted ok & ate all but something wasn’t right ? It was only when we got home chatting I said to my wife I’d never had a Club Sandwich with Tuna Mayo on before & checked the menu to see if it stated Tuna on & it didn’t but definitely had Tuna Mayo on & checked my photo I had taken to confirm this Strange. The Service & Atmosphere was excellent it must of been a mix up in the kitchen.

We visited lunchtime today (Saturday), our first visit. Sat down immediately, no waiting around. Food was very nice, service was great and I thought tour meals were good portion sizes, and well priced. We will definitely visit again

Booked a table for Saturday, Was given a table at the side behind frosted glass and then totally forgotten about. After waiting a good 15/20 minutes with no one coming to us to even take a drink order, we left. Probably forgotten about, as there was about 4 ladies at the front desk just chatting away looking like they were waiting for a baby shower party. The bar area looked lovely though.

Very disappointed, on entering this looks like a nice venue and a varied menu, so all bodes well. Sadly that was it. Service was extremely slow, 20 minutes to get drinks after ordering then another 20 minutes for the food. 4 of us and no one enjoyed the food. My chicken curry tasted like fish and chip shop curry sauce. Ordered a cup of tea that never arrived. Place had about 10 customers including ourselves when we left so can’t understand why service was so slow. No chance we will ever go back. There are so many better places to eat and get drinks in Chester.

Comfy sofas, good live music in afternoon

Our first visit to North Light and we will be back. It looks a bit pretentious from the outside, but it's not like other bars like that in Chester. A warm and friendly welcome. Efficient staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this place, Found it via Tik Tok and set out to dine here while visiting Chester, we were not disappointed, we went for a few sharing plates and halloumi fries, Everything was so tasty and we left feeling full! The sauce with the halloumi fries was amazeballs. 💯% recommended if you are visiting Chester get in there! Service was amazing too, thank you to the lovely young lady who served us tonight.

Had 2 sandwiches with fries and a latte. £31.40. Can the latte really be £7.40. Extortionate if so.

Food was great and the cocktails. The burger was fabulous. However service was a tad slow especially considering there must have been 5 tables in the building max. We had to get up and get our own bill due too lack of attention from staff, also a 10% service on the bill which had to be removed my a manager.

Venue location perfect. Staff, particularly Ania perfect, food excellent. If I had to fault anything it would purely be the room temperature a little cool for us but probably down to the fact the building is warehouse style full of floor to ceiling windows must be difficult to heat.

Came for brunch and while the food was pretty good, the restaurant was on the cold side and there was a lingering smell of rubbish in the air. On a warmer day, without the bin smell, I’m sure it’s fine but if you’re hoping to have a cosy brunch on a cold morning it might not be the place. They also added a service fee which is something I’m not a fan of. I prefer to choose how much and when to tip.

Booked a 6pm table here for New Years Eve. We were looking forward to the bottomless drinks package, as advertised throughout the restaurant on posters that read 'Celebrate all day. Enjoy Bottomless Drinks'. However once we sat down we were told the bottomless drinks ended at 5.30pm (on New Years Eve?!). I spoke to the manager, a man named Joshua, to feedback that their posters, stating 'Celebrate all day' were quite misleading. Joshua quickly became argumentative, defiant and at times very patronising (perhaps I wasn't the first to complain). He arrogantly boasted that they "can put whatever they want on the posters" as long as the terms and conditions are stated small somewhere else, he also insinuated at one point that perhaps I couldn’t read. He seemed to miss the point entirely that luring customers in with misleading messages perhaps isn't the best sales tatic! We enjoyed our meal as best we could (the food was lovely and the waitress was lovely too) and then we left to celebrate NYE at home. Needless to say we won't be back.

Such sweet staff. A staff member with middle lenght dark hair, bangs, piercings and tatto's - she was/is so sweet. We have worked and studied from the cafe 3 days in a row now.

Very nice atmosphere and food was good. We had fish and chips with my mom. Only thing there was a very limited choice on the menu to choose from. I would expect a bit more choice for a restaurant.

We were a large group and I had spoken with North Light on a number of occasions including on the day about 1 specific meal as one of the group were vegetarian, and again spoke with them when we arrived to remind them. We were told that they were aware of the amendment and it was on the pre order. The meals started to arrive and the vegetarian meal was STILL wrong and even when I raised it with the waitress I was looked at as if I had 12 heads. We were then over charged by over £40 which was addressed by the manager and refunded after we raised it. If you’re a large group doing a pre order… avoid.

The staff were really accommodating and very professional. Bethany has been a superb help in organising our Christmas party for 40 people. I would also like to give a shout out to the barman who unfortunately I can't remember his name. He was very friendly and made the most amazing cocktails.
