We were a family of 8 celebrating a birthday meal and night out the food and service were first class the staff were friendly and looked after us

Good Food, first time visitor, I had the XL Mixed Grill and the Wife had the Chicken and Rib Combo.

food was stone cold and waited 1 hour for it

Never had bad food in here, me and my nana always come and the staff are always friendly

Never Again! Terrible place. I have been a regular here for over the past 30 years but unfortunately I won't be back in a hurry. The place is a shambles. All 4 tables in the upper seating area were filthy, not cleared or cleaned and just left for a long time. Carpet was full of food and absolutely filthy and the end of the bar was just full empty glasses. And that's before we talk about the food! The alleged sirloin steak was a disgrace, well overcooked and certainly not medium and inedable due to the amount of fat on it. Complimented by a few chips and possibly the worst Mac n cheese ever. I am confident that this was a cheap tin of macaroni cheese with a little bit of cheap cheese grated on the top. A nice mark up at £3.69. I have previously been a big fan of the Burgers here but not on this occasion. Dry as sticks with an end of onion and a tomato rind? Tasted distinctly of lighter fluid? Sorry but I will not be returning anytime soon.

Excellent friendly service lovely food

As you have seen I have rated my experience 1 star . When I came in my the 3 family members that came with me struggled to find a seat with accessible seating. A lot of the seats are very high and when we found a suitable table for my elderly family members the seats where very warm down and the back of my seat was on the brink of falling off; if I had put my back against the seat I would’ve fallen into the wall behind me. Nobody greeted us when we came in and it wasn’t often we could see a member of staff. When ordering our food we noticed many issues with the menu. For example there were minimal non-alcoholic drinks to choose from . Another issue was that there weren’t many options to choose from as there were only burgers and chicken to see when you opened the menu . After about 20 minutes we received our drinks, thank the lord we weren’t dying of thirst, when I took a sip from my Diet Coke my first thought were ‘this is not coke’ because there was no fizz at all . Our food did come soon after and when I saw my Sunday roast I was in a state of shock. On my average sized plate there was a large portion of broccoli, green beans, stuffing , mashed potatoes, a few roasties , a slice of chicken or turkey ( I wasn’t sure which one it was), carrots and a Yorkshire pudding. I was also given a small portion of gravy, it was such a small portion that the gravy inside would fill a third of a 330ml can of carbonated drink . This made my Sunday roast seem very dry. After asking for extra gravy we were given 1 of the same size portion we had before to share between the 3 of us that had Sunday roasts. Firstly I ate my green beans which just tasted like green beans but when I moved on to my broccoli everything seemed to go downhill . The broccoli was so hard some would say that it was still raw. After eating as much as I could before I knocked my teeth out I moved on to the carrots . They were half cooked . After that I ate my mashed potatoes which had a bit of a spicy aftertaste that I was rather confused about , then, I ate the stuffing . It was very gritty and I was unimpressed as I would say that stuffing is one of the best parts of a Sunday roast . Before moving on to the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding I ate my chicken . What a monstrosity ! It was thin like a slice of Bernard Matthew’s turkey ham but as dry as the Sahara desert. After drying out my salivary glands and drinking more of my flat coke , I ate my roast potatoes . They too were dry . Then I moved the Yorkshire pudding as I was about to eat it when my heart stopped. Another slice of chicken laid before my eyes . Is this where all the coffee tasting gravy had vanished to ? Startled after seeing this again , I miraculously ate it . I was shocked that I was able to eat it . Finally , my knife and fork were getting closer to the pride and joy of a Sunday roast, the Yorkshire pudding . I stabbed it with my fork and it flew across my plate . This Yorkshire pudding was rock solid . I had to fight to cut it . It was very hard to eat as I could’ve smashed a window with how hard it was . I was not the only one who thought this way about my Sunday roast as I saw somebody else receive one on the table in front of me and when one of the people that they went with asked them how it was the consumer simply said no . Leaving the subject of food, the staff did not seem happy to work there at all . This pub has a lot to work on and the food was awful

A nice family and pet friendly Greene King pub.

We used our gift card from Christmas as a date nigh the other week, as we love the food it is always tasty and take into to account my partner’s intolerance. I had the buyers chicken which is one of my faves and tried the Mac and cheese as a side, was the most cheesest and best I’ve had ever! The saff are always welcoming and friendly even when we sat in a reserved spot as we underestimated the time, they were lovely polite and helped us move tables.

Average pub meals ,great service from all staff lovely pleasant atmosphere.

The food here is really tasty, easy to get service at the bar and can order from the table using a QR code.

Go nearly every Friday after a long week at work the staff are lovely and friendly. Jake on the bar is lovely. Food is great value and the waitress Vicki is always cheerful, Well done Conquest 🍺

A Flaming Grill pub I always visit when in the area. Our three meals of Steak and Ale pie and two variations of their Chick and Mix were all delicious, served piping hot and incredible value at just over £37 including three soft drinks

Just been here with my family. They served 4 of us our meals and left the other 5 for about 45 minutes with nothing. Brought out 3 other tables food the sent 2 more of ours out. Then left it another 10 minutes for the rest. Absolute joke

First time diner. My granddaughter wanted to try it. At the bar we were told about the special offers, I'm not sure if our meals were one of those. But the cost was surprisingly low. I ordered gammon skillet with egg and pineapple and my granddaughter ordered hunters chicken skillet. The meals arrived really hot and well presented. The staff were always available but not overbearing. The atmosphere was nice and friendly and not uncomfortable. The food was really nice and I would recommend it to anyone. Definitely a family pub. We both came away very impressed. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Thank you. I'll definitely be back.

This day was incredible, I love good customer service and they really know how to do it. Without a doubt we will return many more times to Norman Conquest.

The last three times I've been the food wait has been quoted as over an hour so we've left without ordering..... We won't be bothering again, it wasn't even busy, yet glasses and plates all over and sticky tables.

Good food, good service, slightly rowdy on first entering with a birthday party going on and kids everywhere, but it soon bacame quite👍

Try to get here most Thursdays great food and service recommend the gammon and egg or pineapple staff are very obligeing

Ordered 2meals one was an English breakfast the other a mushroom dish which my daughter ate ,my breakfast was tasteless dry and tasted nasty ,I remembered why I don't eat there ,processed rubbish on a plate avoid the menu ,drinks are fine

Visiting family from Canada and visited on a Friday. The service from Vicky and crew was exceptional. It made us come back several times before we left back home and will ensure we return again on our next visit. Vicky was warm, welcoming and made us and our family feel comfortable.

1 hand-pulled beer (Green King IPA) which was a good pint. Food offer good (2 mains for £12.50) and the food was good. Just a short wait to be served.

Come here after a horrible experience at The Sandstone Nab and Norman Conquest was fantastic. Friendly staff and lovely food. Will certainly be returning.

Norman conquest was a really nice public house service was good what I had to eat was mediocre but the pub was packed so maybe that was the problem staff was very good.considering

It would have been very pleasant, if a table didn't let a baby scream the entire time. Staff did nothing about it. No one comes to the pub and pays to hear someone else's kid scream.

Should be renamed conquer, as they've honestly conquered what a great meal is. However their conquest to hire the greatest staff around was an absolute success, great establishment it's a must see and must eat!!!

Cheap quality food frozen chips I paid for pepper sauce it came in the tiniest jug and wasn't even half full. My partner got fish and chips and it was just enough for a child not a man he was still starving. The food is cheap and so is the quality ok if that's what you want I won't be returning I would rather pay a bit more for better quality. If a chef cooks frozen chios they not a chef

A really nice atmosphere with helpful staff and very good service.

I come her regularly with family and friends, we usually come here to spend birthdays and celebrations aswell. The staff are always happy to help and I especially like the chicken platter as it has plenty of options to make it your own. Would absolutely recommend coming here, especially on a sunny day as there are plenty of outside tables.
