We had hoped that this would be the highlight of our visit to Liverpool. Sadly, it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, overall it was very good, but the food was ranging from inedible oversalted kale to outstanding. There have been too many mistakes for a five-star experience. Let's start with the kale. It came with the otherwise very good Turbot. We rarely complain, but it was too tough to chew and very much oversalted. We appreciated that the service apologised and offered us dessert wine on the house. That wasn't the only mistake, however. The chips were too floppy and the quail egg in the scotch egg was overpowered by the casing. The dish of the evening was clearly the smoked eel! An explosion of taste and a surprising combination of textures. The same goes for the Baked Alaska - what a delight! And the chicken comes through at third place. Would we return? Probably not until the quality becomes more consistent. Was it poor control at the passe or were the dishes supposed to be how they were? We don't know.

Nord has a really tasteful decor with attention to detail and a great atmosphere. The service was very good and we enjoyed the lunch. The menu was well thought through, with a variety of dishes and some of the ingredients sourced locally. The food was well presented at a reasonable price-point for 3 courses. I will certainly visit again, but would replace some of the dishes we ordered as there were a number that could have been improved or refined further.

We're both vegetarian and went for my partner's 40th. The chef put on a bespoke menu for us both on the night and each and every course was sensational. We also did the wine pairing and the sommelier was so informative and set us up with some fabulous wines. The atmosphere was gorgeous, the setting was lovely and the wait staff were phenomenal. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

I had booked this for a solo dinner date on a trip over from Manchester and I'm so glad I did. The staff are really lovely and welcoming, made great recommendations not just for the menu but also the local area. The host was excellent, as were all the service staff. Stunning decor and the food is unbelievable. I opted for a combination of starters, nibbles and sides to try a bit of everything so I couldn't manage a dessert much as I wanted to! But would definitely recommend the Bennys cocktail. I'll definitely be back when I'm next in the area.

Two hours after ordering I wouldn't think I could feel guilty about asking a waiter when we might be getting served our starters. However looking around our section of the restaurant to see about 25 other guests and only 2 or 3 with any food in front of them at any one time I wasn't sure if I was jumping the queue. In situations like this when there's clearly been some sort of calamity in the kitchen I'd say honesty is the best policy. But to then be told they would be out in 3 minutes, and then be left waiting another 30 is quite astonishing. So it was that we left Nord after 2½ hours on nothing but a few olives and quite a few bottles of wine, very unlikely to return.

I am writing to formally express my disappointment following a recent visit to your restaurant. Given your reputation and the price point, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience fell significantly short in multiple areas. When we were seated, it took so long to receive two simple glasses of prosecco that we had to ask if our drinks had been forgotten. We then waited over 45 minutes for our bread which was stale. When the appetisers finally arrived they were dissapointing—simply a sausage on a plate with no garnish was unimaginative, the scotch egg, which I was particularly excited for, tasted good but the egg was overcooked inside and the fig tarts were tasteless. For starters, the beef tartar was ok but the flavours were unbalanced. The hazelnut was overpowering and didnt fit and the pickled cucumber was too sharp. We then waited another hour or more for the main courses. We even asked if we could just get the bill as we were so hungry and just wanted to go elsewhere to eat. We had even forgotton what we had ordered. We were promised the food was 'just on the pass’, but it took another 15 minutes to arrive. My main course (fish) had to be sent back as it arrived still frozen inside. When it was returned, it was inedibly salty. The chips accompanying were undercooked and oily. The chicken dish lacked any flavour. A minute after the dish had been presented on the table, we were then presented with a plate of ungarnished fried chicken nuggets to inexplicably “finish off”. It was confusing and the lack of explanation felt like it was an after thought to make up for making us wait so long for our food. The sole was overcooked and was cut down the centre, removing the spine and making it difficult to separate the bones. The sauces across all dishes lacked flavour and were inconsistently seasoned, either overwhelmingly salty or entirely flat. For a table booking at 7 30, we didnt actually get any proper food until 9 30. The wait in between each course was simply inexcusable. Throughout the evening, no staff member acknowledged the excessive delays or issues with our meal. We asked to speak to the chef, and the maître d’ assured us they would come over, but they never did. The only redeeming gesture was the removal of the main courses from our bill when we requested it. The maître d’ also promised a follow-up, compensatory email to “make up” for the experience—however, no such correspondence has been received, further adding to the sense of neglect and disappointment. For a restaurant of this calibre and cost, there is no excuse for the lack of basic kitchen skill, poor service, and lack of accountability we experienced. It was a chaotic and deeply disappointing evening. I would strongly discourage others from dining here, and would instead recommend restaurants such as Belzan, where the food and service are consistently excellent. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address the issues raised, as what we experienced was simply unacceptable.

A fabulous evening with Jim my hubby, Sam my daughter and granddaughter Mia. The service from the staff was excellent! So attentive and respectful. Thank you Dan and Beth for looking after us so well! The food was definitely the best we have ever had!! One of my favourites was the squid - wow so exquisite! The chef and his crew go out of their way to make the experience unforgettable. The venue and atmosphere is so chilled! I would 100% recommend this restaurant to everyone. We visited Nord for dinner while in Liverpool, having booked in advance and looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, the evening turned out to be a major disappointment. We specifically chose the À la Carte menu because I wanted to try the scallops, and my partner was keen on the king crab. However, when our server brought the menu, we were told that neither dish was available. This was frustrating, as those were the main reasons we selected this menu. We had to change our choices and went with the Quail Scotch Egg and Duck Leg Croquettes for starters, followed by the Market Fish of the Day (Sole) and Gnocchi for mains. We also ordered Rye Bread, Crushed Potatoes with Garlic and Chive Butter, Hand-Cut Chips, and Buttered Seasonal Vegetables as sides. The starters arrived along with the rye bread. Mine was just okay, while my partner’s was enjoyable until she almost bit into a bone in the croquette—not what you’d expect. When the mains arrived, things didn’t improve. My fish was cooked well but completely over-salted, and the accompanying fennel sauce was bland and tasteless. My partner’s gnocchi was fine but nothing special. The sides were equally disappointing—the crushed potatoes lacked any garlic flavour, and the chips had no seasoning at all. What made matters worse was that, after being told king crab wasn’t available, we overheard the server offering it to the table next to us. This felt like a slap in the face, adding to an already poor experience. We left most of the food unfinished and honestly couldn’t wait to pay the bill and leave. This was meant to be one of the highlights of our trip, but instead, it was a letdown from start to finish. This is an honest review, written simply because we expected so much more. Would we return? Absolutely not.

4 of us ate here last night for the first time, we often eat out trying new venues, there are many to choose from in Liverpool and this is up there with some of the best. As a new restaurant it has made a great impression and I would recommenda visit here, the staff are very efficient and pleasant. Great lighting and comfortable temperature with overal nice atmosphere. We had the Chefs tasting menu paired with the wine flight and additional cheese course. Personally enjoyed the meat dish in particular was delicious, but all of the dishes were excellent, rich with flavours and the presentation was excuted to a high standard. We arrived around 7:45pm up until 10:30pm. The decor of the restaurant is unique and adds something different to the experience which stands out from other venues. Very attentive service and great quality of food, I would return again to try the other menus as they have a large variety of food choice available and I would go back in future. The price for the tasting menu is as expected to similar venues so expect to spend more than average but it is nice for a special occasion

We were absolutely spoilt by Nord where we celebrated our engagement at the weekend. The moment we stepped inside (beaming, obvs) we were offered a glass of fizz and even given a congratulations card 🤭 The service was 10/10, we loved chatting to the staff about our incredible morning before they talked us through the menu. First up, the oozing black pudding Scotch egg and the best damn cheese on toast I’ve ever had. It was rich, the bread was thick, and it was messy. Delightful stuff. For the roast I didn’t imagine we would get THIS MUCH food. The crunch on those roasties was heavenly and the veg was done perfectly - shoutout to the sauce that our cabbage was sat on because I lapped that up. I’m a sucker for cauliflower cheese and this did not disappoint, it felt fancy but still hit the comforting spot? As you can tell, the pork belly was also served with a dreamy level of crackling. I didn’t want this meal to end. For dessert I do love something classic so I picked the steamed syrup sponge straight away - this was as sickly as you’d expect because it was absolutely doused in syrup but that’s what I wanted. They obviously didn’t take a bite of this before it was served, I literally just couldn’t resist digging in 😀 We were also so excited to see a Semla on the menu as my engagement ring was purchased in Stockholm, the home of the Semla bun. The almond and cardamom flavours shone through as we were transported back to our trip! Overall this meal ticked every single box and I’m so so glad we picked such a special occasion for it. Saying that, I’d run right back whenever I next get a craving for a good roast 🤩

Have visited Nord 5 times now, first being April 2023 and most recently January this year...each visit just gets better! The food, atmosphere and service have been excellent each visit. I love that they source their ingredients locally and really feel it adds to the quality of the food that is served. The menu is changed regularly with new dishes being added, and some staples remaining. Each visit we have opted for sharing style, but you could go for traditional starts, mains and sides if you wanted to. I recommend Nord to everyone who will listen to me natter on about food, and it has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants! Pictures from visits in April 2024, November 2024 and January 2025.

Exceptional! We came here for a celebratory meal on the day we got engaged, and the team were so attentive. I am very grateful for the touches they added to make the day extra special. We had the three-course roast menu, and it was so good. Usually, you expect small portions from a roast out, but this was not the case here. I particularly loved the stuffing. It was extra special for us as Daniel Heffy (Executive Chef) trained in Scandinavia, and I found my fiancé's engagement ring in Stockholm. So, we ordered the Semla for dessert—a traditional Swedish delicacy. The food was exceptional, and I would like to thank all the staff for their warm welcome and attentiveness throughout. It really added to our day. We will be back!

We went for Sunday roast on 16 March and it was great. The warm homemade bread with salted butter is a winner, it was lovely. We enjoyed black pudding Scotch egg and beetroot with green curry sauce for starters. We had monkfish with peppercorn sauce, for mains which was great. Really generous portions of roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables were provided, all of which were really tasty. For dessert we had the warm syrup pudding with vanilla custard which was extremely filling and really tasty. We had enjoyable mocktails and Hungarian white wine to drink. Beth looked after us and she was great, she's an asset to the restaurant and all the other staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely lunch at Nord and will definitely be coming back and we highly recommend.

Came here for a Sunday Roast with a few mates, and my gosh, one of the best Sunday Roasts I've ever had (and I've had a few). Parsnips to die for, and nice to taste all the meat they had to offer too (all exceptional). Richie and Molly went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after. Being in hospitality it was interesting to notice their eye for fine detail, and always being on hand and paying attention to the small things without any need for asking. Would highly recommend, and a lovely find in Liverpool on the way back up to the Lake District!

Delicious food, every element on the plate is done to perfection without overcomplicating what is part of the dish. Everything works together beautifully. The cod kiev is a signature dish, quite rightly. I tried the earl grey mousse with rhubarb sorbet and I could have had so many bowls of this! The atmosphere was really warm and welcoming by the staff from the first moment and the aesthetic is really different and makes for such a special dining experience. Service was absolutely faultless, really attentive and knowledgeable about everything on the menu and on the plate. A really exciting place to try - I can’t wait to come back and try again.

What a fabulous dining experience. This was absolutely flawless from beginning to end. We dined NYE and could have eaten everything twice, but Richard, our lovely server, wouldn't let me 😏. Flavour combinations were staggeringly good, and Richard was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. He made the evening. What a perfect team member he is, and we feel lucky to have had him. All the staff were lovely and not intrusive and to all the kitchen staff, you are absolute legends. Only a finally attuned team can produce such incredible dishes. Great evening yesterday celebrating wife's birthday. Complimentary bubbly was very appreciated and the staff were friendly and approachable throughout the evening, ensuring we were very we cared for. Jackets, umbrellas etc were kindly taken to a cloakroom. We had the tasting menu and each bite was perfection. Some dishes did take have a long gap between (up to 20mins) but it was obviously a full house and the kitchen was busy. Awesome service, top class food and better value for money than other tasting menus. Would definitely recommend

The restaurant is pretty and the service is excellent, but unfortunately the food is terrible. The oyster mushrooms pate served on top of a brioche is a mess of a dish, the sweet sauce on top of is overpowering and the flavors don’t work together. The gnocchi is pure flour, salt and burned butter (when the butter pass the stage of being nutty and only tastes rancid). The Cod on top of a pea cake is passable, also has no other taste but that of a fried fish. You can get better fish and chips anywhere else in town.

The peppercorn sauce was disgusting. The Yorkshire pudding was nice, the roast potatoes were ok but not good enough for the price. The vegetables were nice too. Overall it was such a disappointing experience, especially for the price. The staff are all really nice though and maybe the other food that isn’t a roast is better?

We had the most incredible meal at Nord last night. We were there almost 3 hours, starting with an apperitivo at the bar before our meal, and from start to finish the whole experience was glorious. Everything we ate was beautiful, the monkfish in truffle butter in particular blew us away, and the atmosphere is sophisticated and stylish but friendly and welcoming. What really sets this place apart though is the service. Unfortunately we didn't get the names of either of our servers but we both agreed it was the best we'd ever been looked after at a restaurant. Both servers were so friendly, extremely efficient, and couldn't do enough for us. One of them even wrote us a list of her favourite bars that she'd recommend after we said we were visiting for the night. This restaurant is reason enough for us to come back to Liverpool - our new favoured special occasion restaurant.

We went there for lunch as it wasn’t busy at all, the girl who showed us to a table had an attitude problem and the service was soooooooo sloooooooow, it took an hour and half for the mains to come and they were nothing special and cold, the cheeky thing at the end was charging us service charge but we didn’t want to make a scene, but for sure we will never go back again, there are much better places in Liverpool

Few places are amazing from stepping in to departure, this is one of them. The interior exudes a chic, almost classic 1960s vibe, with two-tone green bench seating, pink and light pink tiles, and a striking orange bar counter. The lighting is creative and intriguing, complemented by a ceiling design that adds character, all anchored by iconic terrazzo flooring. The Mersey Beet cocktail was a standout—both visually and in taste. A gin-based beet sour, it delivered a delightful balance of earthy beetroot flavors and the crispness of gin. Equally impressive was the TNT cocktail, a tequila-based creation featuring grapefruit, citrus, and a touch of sweetness, reminiscent of a refined margarita. The mushroom parfait was rich and indulgent, almost reminiscent of foie gras, though it could have benefited from a touch more seasoning to elevate the flavor. The beef tartare was exceptional, presented in three distinct layers: a base of tender beef, topped with a rich blend of beef fat, pickled onions, and pickled cucumber, offering a perfect harmony of textures and flavors. For the mains, the steamed cod was beautifully cooked, served atop a bed of fennel mash with a buttery sauce and surrounded by a medley of flavors. While the fennel mash was slightly over-salted, the overall dish struck a fine balance as the other components were subtly seasoned. Dessert was a delightful conclusion: an Earl Grey parfait paired with honey ice cream. Light and refined, it delivered a harmonious blend of subtle, nuanced flavors. Service was friendly,accommodating and interactive.

Excellence the Norm at Nord Another fabulous visit, this time for the Sunday Roast which exceeded expectations. Daniel delivered the best Roast complete with the crispiest Roast potatoes & Yorkshire Puddings. The four of shared a Rack of Lamb along with our Pork & chicken selections and with the gravy,sauces , Roasted carrots & greens we all enjoyed a sumptuous feast which tasted as special as your Christmas Dinner. The starters were typically tremendous with scallops, black pudding scotch egg & the signature beetroot dish simply divine. Cocktails were served with glacial size ice cubes, the wines were tasted & carefully paired and we finished with a range of delicious desserts & coffees. Charlotte & colleagues gave us the usual attentive friendly & professional service. Daniel Executive Chef chatted to us at the Pass and at our booth completing a most enjoyable Sunday Roast experience, it’s no wonder they’re in the Michelin Guide as Excellence is the Norm at Nord John Leonard

I went for a Sunday roast with my grandma and my sister. My grandma is allergic to dairy and sometimes struggles with this but Sarah, our waitress, was so thoughtful and immediately helped her identify what she could eat (which was actually most things). We each had a different roast - chicken, monkfish and pork - and we were all very happy with our meals. My gran also loved the sweet nuts to nibble on at the start. I think she could have happily eaten those all night! Everyone was incredibly lovely - including the Bartender, Brannon - who chatted with me about music and let me taste some orange wines while my sister looked for my gran, who had gotten lost in the car park!

I feel im going to mirror a lot of people. Vibe, decor and feel is out of this world. Service was very good and we didn't wait as long as other people have sadly had to. The food however is miles off. For the price and the prestige we were very disappointed. Portion sizes are miniscule and you will be getting something on the way home. The lamb main is around 30 quid and it comes with two tiny pieces of lamb. There are other high end places in the city where you will get better value for your money, albeit in somewhere that doesn't look as nice.

We celebrated our anniversary at Nord last Friday and we had the best experience! The food was amazing, we had the chef's menu and everything tasted so fresh and delicious. All of the staff were so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They really ensured that you were not left wanting for anything. Sara was particularly wonderful, and made our experience so enjoyable. Went for our 30th wedding anniversary. Exceptionally good experience and a great way to celebrate. Had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Very good food, well cooked and presented and well balanced courses, with an excellent wine pairing for each course. Very helpful and friendly ( but not overbearing) staff. Good atmosphere and well laid out. Not cheap but very good value for money. Thoroughly recommended.

We were absolutely blown away by Nord, what a hidden gem, in the most unexpected of places (feels very corporate walking into the business district and what a surprise to find Nord tucked away!). The service was exceptional, great advice on wine, we stuck to all vegetarian a la carte and were so well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious, I will be thinking about that 24hr beetroot for years. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, a must visit when you're in Liverpool!

We had an incredible dining experience at Nord! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel warmly welcomed and attended to every detail, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Was treated to a lovely birthday meal here at the weekend and we couldn't have asked for better! Right from the get go the service and staff were amazing, we were greeted by Richie who could not have been more attentive the entire evening. The food is obviously incredible, a great mixture throughout the courses and we loved that it was never what you would expect. With that in mind, Richie made sure it suited our preferences and that the chefs menu was altered slightly to accomodate for likes and dislikes, without making us feel like a pain. Charlotte the Somellier was also brilliant, helping us choose the wines based on our preferences whilst sharing her expert knowledge. My partner ask that they make it a special evening and they really did, small things like the notes left for us wishing us a happy birthday on our table ready when we got there made us feel like we were the only ones they were serving, I however have no doubt everyone got the same treatment and all felt as special. All of the staff were amazing from start to end, a truly unforgettable birthday, meal and service! the staff are truly the best of the best, the food is incredible and Richie embodies what great service should be about!

We ordered the signature fish and chicken dish for one . The dish is huge but the chicken dish has a lot of chicken leg end bones no meat. It’s like eating bones. The star fish dish white cucumber has lots of cucumber and middles no star fish Sour fish dish is good with plentiful of fish and sour pickles. The other pork leg dish is so so. The deco is very basic and they try to keep it clean .

This is a real gem in the centre of Liverpool. It's a traditional cafe, no thrills, no fancy coffees, no pretence, and no ridiculous prices. Understandably they're a small business so can't afford to take card payments for under £5, which is fair.
