Very authentic and delicious handmade noodles! The soup is freshly brewed👍!

Great spot for lunch a short walk from the Uni and Royal mile. The hand cut noodles were delicious. The green beans with mince pork had a great balance of spice and Sichuan peppercorns. Come hungry the portions are substantial!

Really really enjoyed our ramen here, best I've personally ever had. Only slight downside is that we were forgotten for a while upon sitting down so there was a large gap between arriving to, being given a menu, to ordering & I was very specific about the noodles I wanted, but ended up receiving my friends noodles and my friend got my noodles. I didn't flag it as it'd be a touch fussy and I would hate to see the food wasted. Very reasonably priced and I really enjoyed my meal regardless of a less preferred noodle shape. Would definitely return!

My partner and I visited this cozy little restaurant yesterday, and from the moment we walked in, the warm service made me feel just like the name suggests—right at home. Each table has a QR code for ordering, which is perfect for someone like me—-minimal social interaction.🥲🤣 I highly recommend the thick beef hand pull noodles and spicy fried chili pepper chicken—the fresh noodles have a great chew, and the chicken is crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of spicy. They also have BBQ on the menu, so maybe we’ll give that a try next time! 😋

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When we walked in, a young Chinese waiter was extremely rude to us. We tried to place an order, but he completely ignored us and refused to take our order at the table. It felt like he was intentionally dismissing us. After waiting for a while, we decided to leave. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming service!

We went to eat noodles but the employee treated us very badly. When we entered the place, he greeted us very harshly. We answered our questions very harshly. When we told him our order rates, he looked at us and continued his transactions without taking our order. We left the place without eating anything because we did not want to eat at a place that works in the service sector and is uncomfortable serving people.

Wow, amazing. We were the only non Chinese. The speciality fish with pickled veg and very spicy was aaamazing. Wow. Must go back tomorrow. What a change . When we were students in early 1960s there was only one Chinese in Edinburgh. How exotic, fried rice with a fried egg on top. Changed days, for the better.

There is a restaurant on the 2nd floor, and there was a wait after 1 o'clock. Most of the customers were Chinese. I didn't know how to order, so I was wandering around and managed to order with the QR code attached, but I even made one mistake ^^; Still, it was delicious. The portions were really large, so it's okay to order one per person. I didn't know, so I ordered three and ended up packing it. I think it would be enough for two people by Korean standards. It came out like a mountain of egg fried rice....

Been coming here for a while, and the food never disappoints - highly recommend the spicy-only noodles downstairs, but everything else I’ve had on their expanded non-spicy menu is excellent as well. Good portions for a good price, you can pick your noodle type for certain dishes, and you can add on lots of additions to your noodles as well.

The noodle here is perfect and the service here is good and fast and if people pay with cash can get an extra egg!

I'm solid regular now, must have eaten there 30+ times. It's comforting consistent and reasonably priced food. The folk working there are hard working, honest and cheerful. Long may the place stay as it is!

I rarely leave reviews, but this place was too good not to! The vibe was great, the service was wonderful, and most importantly, the food was 10/10. I had the pork wonton soup, and my friend tried the hand-pulled beef soup—both were amazing. Highly recommend!

The noodle soup is very good and the price is affordable. I have eaten here several times. It’s hard to say anything else, because I stepped on mine twice. Last time I ordered a pig's trotter rice, the gravy was too thick and it was all mushy in my mouth. This time I ordered a fried noodles, but it turned out to be cold. The clerk said, "Our fried noodles have to be washed with cold water." After the waiter said this, I actually doubted my knowledge of fried noodles. mistake. I thought that the cold water makes it non-stick, not for you to make it as cold noodles. Moreover, even if the noodles are iced, the sauce is also iced. Normal fried sauce has a lot of oil, so how can you eat it cold? . Later, I asked him to heat it up, but it only went from ice to room temperature. I didn't bother to ask because it was busy during the peak period. Even if you treat Jajangmyeon as cold noodles, you still have to mark it on the menu. Of course, there may be something wrong with just this bowl of noodles.

Because the person at the cash register spoke Chinese, I assumed you were Chinese. I liked the waiter who took my order, the one who served the dishes, and even the one who came to the table for payment. But I just didn’t like the person standing at the cash register. I don’t know what I did to make your attitude so unpleasant that even my Vietnamese friend, who doesn’t understand Chinese, could sense the difference in how you treated us compared to how you treated white people. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and all the other staff were very friendly. If you were just tired or exhausted during the less than 20 minutes between the time that table of white people left and we left, I can understand that too.

Families! A must eat in Edinburgh! ! Definitely one of the best restaurants of its type in the city. The price is not high, it is delicious, and the portions are large. If you pay cash, you can exchange it for a canned drink for free, and some people say you can also exchange it for braised eggs. The disadvantage is that you have to climb stairs and often have to wait in line.

Excellent cut noodles in broth - my favorite in Edinburgh. The selection of condiments to season the food with was nice, too, if you enjoy your food spicier than it comes.

Delicious food! The chow mein with hand ripped noodles is always a winner for us - often crave it so have sat in and ordered to take it away. Great location in central Edinburgh!

noodle texture is not ideal, intestines don't have any weird smell. Spices were present, as far as Chinese food in Edinburgh goes, it's pretty authentic

The lamb chop noodles are very fresh and delicious. The beef slices are not as fresh as the lamb chops. The poached eggs are average, not too burnt or runny. The portion is so big that after finishing one portion of noodles, I can’t eat any other dishes. The Guobao Pork is very delicious and the shell is very crispy. It is the best Guobao Pork I have ever eaten in the UK. The dry pot sausage is very clean and the portion is very large.

Absolutely delicious food, the best noodles I've had so far. The dishes are large and abundant, and the price is right. You can see the menu and order the dishes through an app, which makes everything much faster. There is too much variety of dishes, I recommend going directly to the noodles.

Superb authentic taste! The wok hei smell was on point for the 牛肉干炒刀削面. Nailed it woth the flavour and was quite impressed. Chili has a strong kick. Maby the only fault I can find is the noodles not being of the same width XD

Given the popularity of the place, and table sizes, some areas of the restaurant can feel a bit cramped but I would not say it negatively affects the experience. If you’re looking for hearty, flavorful noodles that capture the essence of Chinese cuisine, this place is recommended. Just be prepared for a bustling atmosphere during peak hours. Whenever I go, I always order Lanzhou Beef Noodles, never gone wrong.

Amazing Chongqing noodles. The broth was so flavourful and the meat was tender. Noodles were very well cooked and the toppings were fresh and nicely mixed in. Portion is great, and service was fast and friendly!

If the shopkeeper sees me, I strongly recommend adding oil-splashed noodles, since you all already have noodles. One of the best and the most professional noodle place. You can choose the fineness of the ramen noodles, and the thickness of the shaved noodles is also suitable, eh.

Fab place, chosen on the fly, but way better than expected. The broths were flavoursome, and the spicy pork rib griddle was one of the most flavour packed dishes I've ever eaten. Succulent meat, amazing smoky chilli flavours. Friendly, ordering system fairly stress-free.

Everything is very well prepared and very good food, the good thing is that after eating you leave light.

Incredible. My new number 1. *update*. Visited recently and the service has really gone down hill. There are quite a lot of staff that don't actually do anything. They all seem to have one job and can't deviate from that. They are quite rude and basically lazy, particularly the larger lady. I love the food but wouldn't rush back.

The beef slices were stale and tasted like they had been in the refrigerator for four or five days.

This is the first time I take the initiative to write a review, it tastes really good! There is a lot of meat in the noodles, the white radish is very soft and tasty, the braised eggs are also delicious, and the soup base is particularly good! Chili oil is also very fragrant! It’s almost the best Lanzhou ramen in the UK!

Highly recommended this restaurant! The male waiter and the waitress with red hair introduced the menu in a very helpful and welcoming way. Everything tastes authentic as well.

Great place to get noodles and other specialty foods! The noodles came out within five minutes, super quick! And the specialty order took some time to arrive Food was very delicious and they have soup spoons which is good. We were also able to pay as soon as we ordered so that’s also a plus! Beware if you have to go number “2” in the bathroom, you aren’t allowed to put the TP in the toilet! Instead you have to put TP in the waste bin.

Why would you tell me it's open upstairs when I can only order at 12 which is the same downstairs? That literally doesn't make sense. And I speak chinese so there can't be a miscommunication.......

Wide variety of tasty noodle dishes and options with quick service. Customers are almost always Chinese so you know it's legitimate. Free softdrink or boiled egg if you pay by cash. English menu available. Can get a bit crowded and noisy at times but otherwise a great place.

I ordered spicy noodles that tasted a bit like Lanzhou Ramen. I had a stomachache at night after eating them. The attitude of the two waiters was very bad...especially the Chinese girl with black hair. She was obviously a waiter, but she made me feel like she was bullying me.

I can't evaluate it based on domestic standards. I can only say that the price and taste are very "foreign"😩The noodles are a bit overcooked and the taste is not completely authentic. Occasionally, if you are greedy, it is okay to just eat a meal.

This bustling Chinese noodle joint is just full of authenticity. Everything we tried was amazing. They specialise in noodles and they are serious about it. The noodles come in several different widths and weights different kinds of handmade noodles, all the ones we tried were just outstanding. I liked the rustic "hand-cut" noodles. I would recommend the stir fried noodles, the ramen (definitely not a Japanese style ramen) and what they're calling "griddle pot." Everything was very flavorful and on point.

It's really, really, really delicious. All I can say is that it's really delicious. Make sure to go there when you come to Edinburgh. My friend had the beef slices without the cilantro, and I had the beef flank with cilantro, but the beef slice broth was a little saltier. The flank meat is more delicious, so eat that. Be sure to add the cilantro. Enjoy… My friend said it was just so-so, but I almost cried because it was so delicious. It's perfect if you eat this and then have gelato at the gelato shop next door.

The perfect bowl soul during Fringe

There are an overwhelming number of Asians and all the servers are Chinese, which increases trust. I tried to eat mapo tofu, but as a Korean, I can't afford 2.8 pounds for a bowl of rice (haha), so I ate spicy beef flank noodle. It's a good beef noodle dish with a proper Malahan flavor, and because it's from the ribs, it's a bit greasy. If you want lightness, it would be better to change the meat to a different part.

THE MOST DELICIOUS hand-pulled, flavorful, best-est noodles I have ever had in my life! Though the "spicy" food was not as spicy as I wanted it to be, it still was pretty savory and pretty good. I would go here again (if I lived in Scotland, which I don't lol). Still whole-heartedly recommend!

The fresh knife cut noodles are very well done. The location has a small downstairs and then an addition with several rooms upstairs giving the restaurant space but not much air so the back rooms are quite warm. This is a very popular spot so be prepared to wait.

It's super delicious. People from Chongqing who are traveling here find delicious food, especially Lanzhou Ramen... I'm so touched and delicious. But it is indeed quite expensive, which is understandable, since we are in the UK.

The noodles are lovely. We had the pig intestines ones and they were gorgeous (who’d have thunk it). We also had braised pig trotters with rice, the sauce was lovely and loved the fungus. The salt and chilli prawns weren’t great, they had way too much flour in the coating so we’re pretty bland on the inside

Lanzhou people have certified that the beef noodles and mutton skewers are very authentic, except for garlic sprouts, which are really not available. Chongqing noodles also have the same flavor as Sichuan.

Noodles Home is a go to for me whenever I’m in Edinburgh. The food is so good, I typically get either the dumpling or wanton noodles. The noodles are so fresh and chewy and delicious and the broth is wonderful and warming. Staff is also friendly. I’ve recommended to loads of people :)

lanzhou ramen was very good and the portion size was hefty, perfect if you’re cold and starving! however, i would not recommend this restaurant, as the service is absolutely terrible. from the moment we entered, we were treated like unwelcome guests. the lady in glasses seated us reluctantly, and proceeded to ignore us for another 15 minutes, while everyone else has already placed their orders (some already starting to eat!). it wasn’t even particularly busy. my first thought was to give her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she was having a bad day? but then she started chatting and laughing with a group of american tourists behind, still avoiding our table deliberately. we had to ask a couple of times before she finally came to take our order, during which she did not speak a word. we were very uncomfortable and frankly speaking, i couldn’t fully enjoy the food as i felt awkward, like i did something wrong. i wasn’t expecting much, just some politeness and efficiency. i’ve honestly never had such a bizarre experience before.

It’s actually really authentic Chinese noodles flavor, but not sure if I got the noodles from accidentally which was very very salty or it’s the normal salt level they usually put it either in the noodles or in the beef starter. Anyway, I would recommend soup noodles more for people who are not from China to give it a try. One more thing which is good is that they don’t charge service fee, but usually busy

Great service and generous portions, the noodles were a good texture too, I got the vegetable noodle soup - was a bit bland in my opinion. Maybe the meat based options tasted more umami but I have definitely had better vegetarian noodles
