Noodle bar in Colchester

First time visit with friends to show us the ropes .. the food was great, the service was quick and friendly and the value was great.

Really good food particularly for the price. The staff were all very friendly and fast too.

Excellent food in a recently-expanded restaurant. It is always busy, which is obviously a good sign. They have managed to capture the right mixture of good meals at the right price, with efficient service. Great if you want a quick bite, especially if visiting the nearby theatre or cinema.

Never ever had a bad meal here. The food is delicious, fresh and out so fast. The staff are always polite too. What more could you ask for! Honestly couldn't recommend it enough 🙂

An amazing place, friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious food, I really can’t recommend it enough, but do book.

Lovely food and service, but the decor lacks in personality. The restaurant feels unwelcoming because of its decor.

I went here with my girlfriend and a friend and spent £70 between us. I had the beef pho which was absolutely incredible, it cost around £15 and I couldn't finish it at all, I was still left with half of my bowl and an incredibly full stomach as the only thing stopping me from eating any more (which I gladly would have done in a heartbeat). The satay skewers we had as a starter were also great and my girlfriend had the green curry which they rated a 9.6 exactly.

The food is good but is not marketed correctly. We had the pad thai and the pho, but the pho came out to be a Chinese noodle dish. It tasted good, but definitely not what it claims to be. Server and atmosphere were great. Good place to stop by for noodles

Absolutely fantastic first experience at North Hill Noodle Bar! The service was impeccable, and the food was beyond delicious. We started with the dumplings for an appetizer and then enjoyed two main dishes, both of which were superb. Highly recommend!

Have been told by many that this is the best place to eat in Colchester and they weren’t wrong. Food was delicious, really fresh and there was a huge range of choice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Restaurant and decor was modern and inviting. Food and drink were really reasonably priced, I can’t wait to return!

Haven’t been here since it’s been renovated. The food as always is fantastic and the service was brilliant. The decor was very modern and clean. We will definitely will be coming back.

First time back to Noodle Bar since it expanded and the food is consistently as good as ever, staff are lovely and work hard. I wonder though if the kitchen staff and wait staff are getting the support they need to deal with how popular it is getting, plus the deliveries. Still lovely though.

Walked passed this restaurant many times, so for once I booked a table. The service is exceptional, the staff are friendly, polite and professional. My wife and i tried the satay chicken noodles and pork steamed buns for our first visit 😋 it was exceptional, definatley recommend, we will certainly be go back.

We came to the restaurant without a booking early evening on Friday night, the man we spoke to was very friendly and said he would be able to accommodate us. Family of 4, one baby and one child, we all left the restaurant later, happy, full and agreeing that we will definitely return. I don’t usually leave reviews but thought these guys deserve the recognition.

I love the food here, been coming with family for years and really like the food. The staff and the owner are always friendly. Since the refurbishment the place is even better and more dishes have been added! 10/10 highly recommend

Visited the restaurant for the first time since the expansion and was really impressed with how lovely the restaurant looked. Super clean, fresh and stylish. Two of us were eating and had starters and mains. The food was excellent, all the dishes were flawless and excellent portion size. I had the new Siracha King Prawns which were so delicious. My only criticism of the whole evening is we felt very very rushed. It was a Monday evening and not a Saturday night. As soon as we finished the mains it was very clear they wanted us gone. As two Mums who don't get out much we ordered another drink to buy time but as soon as those were done and we said we didn't want anything else the waitress appeared with the bill and the card machine. We didn't even have time to check the bill before she was asking us how it was going to be split and paid. It just put a dampner on what was otherwise a lovely evening.

Been waiting to come here for a long time, finally managed it. Was a bit worried they didn't have a table for us despite booking online when it seemed like 3 people couldn't find my booking and was asked if I booked a later table when I was right on time. Ordered a bunch of sides and a main each. The squid was unfortunately the worst I've ever had, it was so chewy I spat out several pieces. But the rest of the food was really nice. Pork dumplings were amazing, my noodles tasted great and my partners main was really nice. The food came out literally about six minutes after ordering which tbh makes me a bit suspicious about how fresh it is? Maybe they just are on the ball with orders as it's so busy but it did make me question the quality of the food. Service through the meal was really good, a little slow but really friendly and keen to help. Would probably come again to see if the experience would be 100%.

After many years of promising ourselves we would visit we finally managed it. They have recently expanded the restaurant and they’ve done a lovely job. Such a nice environment. Since Covid, they have offered takeaways which are always delicious so the food didn’t disappoint. Big bold flavours all beautifully prepared. The service is friendly and informal and despite one of our party (me) being very late we never felt rushed. A lovely restaurant to have nearby.

Would 100% recommend this place but DO BOOK IN ADVANCE!!! We had Thai Green Curry noodles and Chill King Prawn Noodles, both dishes were absolutely amazing!!!!

Amazing place to eat. A fair selection of GF rice dishes (3-4 main dishes) but I wish they would do a noodle option as there are a lot of gf/rice noodles out there.

Don’t bother with this overpriced so called Chinese takeaway. Worst £60 I have ever spent. The dullest most bland food I have had in sometime. No taste or spice to Singapore noodles at all. Spring rolls had no filling. Egg fries rice was boiled rice with burnt egg bits thrown in.

Please go to fais Chinese these is more reasonable prices and better quality food I’ve tried both shops and fais is the best in Colchester all other Chinese shops in Colchester tried not as good as fais. And bad Terrible communication skills one of the staff there and the other Chinese lady at the door is very rude. When trying to seat a customer ordered food come out the complete wrong order beef in black been sauce put it on my rice was dry it’s horrible never again

So much more space now it's been extended. Beautiful decor and excellent service. Not a single thing to complain about.

13/1/24-last night I attended a party at Noodle Bar and was very impressed with both food and service. I have mobility issues and use crutches and I was very impressed and grateful for the help I received from our waiter when going upstairs to our table. He stayed with me ( in front of me) all the way up the stairs supporting me physically all the way. Thank you so much to this lovely caring young man, your help was greatly appreciated & you made me feel safe while getting up the stairs. Thank you.xx

It’s been a few years since I went to the North Hill Noodle Bar but if anything it has got better and better. The team are wonderful and that first class customer service comes straight from the top. Congratulations on being one of Colchester’s great institutions, you’re faultless 🙌🎾🔥💪🤩

Amazing. I don’t really like spicy food, but I wanted the spicy chicken clear noodle soup, as I like clear noodle soups. We asked if we could have it without the spice, and they were very polite and did it for us. Lovely people working there. My favourite Chinese Restaurant. Love it. Around my area. Next to shops. Went here for my mum's birthday meal. Food was great and I especially loved the tofu, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Dip it in the sweet chilli sauce... Yum!

The beef pho was not great. They used the wrong type of noodle (used vermicelli instead), and the soup base contains pickled vegetable which makes it sour, and the beef pieces have been grilled as well. So the dish is nothing like a traditional Vietnamese beef pho. The service however is excellent. Staff is really friendly and helpful, and all my other friends loved their food.

3 visits in a month, 3 different meals off the extensive menu. There must be a secret addictive ingredient in every dish… or is it the amazing service & food. Highly recommend.

So we used to get noodle bar all the time. Always loved it. It was a proper treat. I’ve eaten in and had takeaway many times. Haven’t had it in over a year so tonight thought I’d go grab some. Lady on the phone was very helpful, food was ready earlier than stated which is awesome. But when we tried the food - less than 5 mins after collecting, we were quite disappointed. We had the king prawn pad Thai and the chicken rengdang. The food was nice and fresh, but just lacking in so much flavour unfortunately. I love Thai/asian food and it was just no where near in terms of flavour. Such a shame and It’s definitely not how it used to be. I get the impression it’s more now about churning out ‘European-Thai fusion’ food fast. Rather than keeping it authentic and focusing on flavour. I didn’t eat in this time but the last time we loved the experience so obviously I can’t comment on this and again I must stress this was a takeaway but still. It’s not cheap food so we were left disappointed. Shame but off to Thailand on Friday so time for some proper pad Thai 🇹🇭

Been going for twenty years Went last night to celebrate the in-laws anniversary. They were married in the registrars office that is now the new part of the Noodle bar The service was amazing. Couldn’t be better and the food, as always, was spectacular Thai green curry and north hill noddles are a favourite. Simply a wonderful place Thank you Peter and Louise

Haven’t been here since the refurb and wanted to see what they’d done. Very nice airy new area to sit. Food quality amazing as usual. I had the beef pho soup which was delicious and my partner had the char kwey Tao. We will be returning again! Quality is always amazing and full of flavour.

First visit for a while and it was even better than we remembered. The refurbishment has been really tastefully done and we felt very comfortable with the surroundings on the first floor with good lighting and exposed brick work. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The prawn toast was so plump and juicy! We enjoyed all our starters and also our mains - we chose the North Hill Noodles... full of flavour and a very good size portion. Lovely staff.

Food was great as always, but the menu, or the range of ingredients, appears to have been narrowed. Vegetable spring rolls are no longer vegan. There are fewer vegan mains, and no vegan noodle soup. And there is not a single vegan-friendly dessert.

these guys are always wonderful. only been here twice but it's always been fully booked when we've tried to go (even after their huge extension! which is always a good sign). the customer service is always wonderful, the atmosphere is amazing and the food is always delicious. i hope these guys expand and are able to build branches in more places because everyone needs to try their food :) this is a serious hidden gem that everyone should try. also important to note that if you ask for any alterations with your food they are more than happy to do it

Best food I've had in Colchester! Loved the atmosphere. The Saki was delivered warm 👌 The beef Pho was on a whole new level. The staff were very welcoming as we were a walk-in on a busy night. Will definitely be back!

Went in for a Team lunch from work and had an amazing time. Being a vegetarian there are enough options to choose from and easily customizable for your dietary needs. The quality and quantity of food is beyond a 5 star rating. The ambience is beautiful. Would definitely go back whenever I am craving Asian food.

I had a great experience at North Hill Noodle Bar. Their service was perfect and it was clear which items in the menu were vegetarian or vegan. I ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious. In particular, I recommend the vegetable noodles and Singapore noodles - they were especially good. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.

North Hil Noodle Bar is truly one of the best restaurants in Colchester. The food is great and I really like the upgraded interior. The food is fresh and the servers are lovely.

Had a reservation with friends and sat down in a nice space. The place is minimally decorated but has a very chic feel. Ordered relatively quickly, and our shared starters came even faster! Pork dumplings - dumplings nice and crisp but the vinaigrette lacking. Satay chicken skewers - very nice, moist chicken, peanutty sauce, yum! Squid - nicely fried and a classic sweet chilli sauce. Our main dinners were relatively slow to come out and we sat with empty glasses for quite some time before being seen to. I ordered the North Hill noodles for the main dish which sounded nice (pork, prawns, veggies) but was disappointed as it wasn't anything particularly mind blowing and the spicy chilli oil I had requested lacked any flavour or punch! Overall, a bit more flavour and attentive service required!

Fantastic Find! North Hill Noodle Bar wows with its fast service, friendly staff, and delicious Asian fusion dishes. The chicken skewers and pork ribs are a hit, and the pho soup is a must-have. Highly recommended!

First time at North hill noodle bar and oh my why have we waited . They managed to squeeze us in on a late saturday afternoon as we hadnt booked, but the food was really delicious... might be a bit pricey but it was well worth it... all staff welcoming friendly and service was fast ..

Visiting Colchester from London today, and I have to say that this beats any food I have had in London. Excellent service from the wait staff, extremely friendly and attentive. Food was brilliant, amazing flavours and superb presentation. You absolutely must visit this restaurant when in Colchester!

We have been going to the noodle bar for several years, and we were worried the recent 'upgrade' meant it might lose it cosy feel and service. Guys, you've smashed it. The new room is beautifully done, tasteful, yet contemporary, and the make-over of the original space is super. Your staff are consistently friendly and oh so efficient. And lastly of course, the food is, frankly, some of the best I have ever tasted. Always piping hot, fresh and delivered in minutes. Thank you, and well done. My wife and I will continue to hold this special place to our hearts.

Definitely the best restaurant in Colchester, had a superb meal there last night. First time we have been back post the refurbishment, had a great meal and some lovely new dishes on the menu!! Well worth a visit, staff and atmosphere brilliant.

Came here with family to celebrate a milestone birthday. I hadn't been before so didn't quite know what to expect. The service was swift and the food arrived really quickly. We had a couple of small plates to start followed by our main course. Everything was piping hot and beautifully cooked. Very generous portions and reasonably priced too. I really enjoyed my food (vegetable spring rolls and chicken satay with noodles) my family all said that their food was delicious too. My niece cannot eat shellfish her meal was made without prawns especially for her, no problem. This could be the new family favourite. I would highly reccomend a visit.

Visited on a Sunday at lunchtime. Love the renovations which give the restaurant a more modern feel. Food, as always, is great value and the portions are generous. A restaurant worth going back to time and again.

We visited North Hill Noodle Bar recently for a weekday lunch and sat in the new extended area which was very nice. The service was excellent and the food was amazing (The best meal I have had at a restaurant in a long time.) We will be returning again very soon.

Loved this place back in the day and good to see its still great. The food is delish and really good portions 😊 highly recommend the Beef Bulgogi and steamed pork buns. Price as to be be expected at a decent place like this. Only gripe would be that one of us waited a little while longer for their food - it was busy. Good atmosphere, staff friendly and attentive.
