Nonna Lia by Il Bacio in Epping Forest

My husband and I and our 2 daughters are only in the area for a night so were looking for somewhere nearby to eat. Absolutely love this restaurant! The staff were lovely and welcomed us in even though we didn't have a booking. The atmosphere was relaxed and family friendly. The food was delicious! I can't think of anything bad to say! Would definitely come back just to eat there again.

Nice lunch of pizza and pasta with a bottle of frascati, friendly waiter. Nice atmosphere.

Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and good food. The star is clearly "Luigi"? I'd definitely recommend this place.

Properly Italian.....I felt like I was in their country....lots of Italian chat and warm friendlyness. Pizza was lovely...I asked for something to be tweaked...no olives....and they did that for me. Large generous portions and quick to serve drinks. I'll be a regular

Disappointed to say the least. Came for a birthday celebration and servers were terribly rude. We asked questions about menu and the waiter was quick to laugh at us and be sarcastic. Waitress was also rude. No manners. Food was nice but really upset with service. Seems that this restaurant is only nice to regulars…

Had an amazing meal in there last night - great atmosphere. Food was amazing and it was reasonably priced for the area. we were lucky to get a table on a Tuesday as it was busy.

Nonna Lia by Il Bacio was recommended to us a few days ago and as it was our Anniversary on July 15th we decided to check it out and what a great decision it was. Firstly we were an hour early for our table so we were seated in a cosy space with a few sofas and comfy chairs and started warming up with some red wine and got chatting to others waiting. The atmosphere was fantastic we were even chatting to the customers on the surrounding tables. Every member of staff was happy and helpful, Chef Luigi is Amazing and very funny too, you can watch your meal being prepared just behind the counter. This little cosy restaurant made me feel like I was in a beautiful town in Italy. How did I not find this place sooner. Thank you Nona Lia by Il Bacio for an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely be back and will also go to the other restaurant in Theydon Bois

This review was for the previous owners : I've been here many times as it very close to my house. The food is always good and well presented. As for the service, the staff are great and attentive. I will update this review once I have had a chance to try the food and the service that the new owner has to offer.

We have lived close by for almost 2 years but never had a chance to visit because of covid. We decided on the day that we both wanted to go out and were lucky to get a table booked that afternoon. We choose to go with the tapas menu rather than the main as we wanted to try several dishes. Chicken wings, chorizo, meatballs, prawns & bruschetta burata. Each dish was delicious. Accompanied with jug of sangria, it was a perfect combination. My partner had profiteroles for dessert which she is still raving about now. All in all a great experience and we will be back soon.

Great evening, fantastic food and sangria. We had 5 of the tapas dishes and they were all so tasty and then finished with the profiteroles which were literally the best thing ever. Can’t believe it’s taken us so long to visit, will be back again soon.

Food and service were average, to say it's overpriced would be an understatement. £30.00 for 2 small starters. No drinks menu, the whole experience was very poor.

The food was OK but I pointed out to the server that my cheap Whites lemonade wasn't a San Pellgrino as stated on the bill at a charge of £3.25. He went and checked and returned with a reduced bill of 25p. Shocked! We left, never to return.

Friendly staff and they'd put a lot of effort into making their outside dining area covid compliant

Had to wait inside for ages, for our outside table that we had booked. Therefore not COVID friendly. Then waited over an hour for our starter without any apology. Unfortunately my lasagne was not that great either but was so hungry by this time I ate it anyway! Wouldn't have minded if there was some sort of apology.

Came here about 2 years ago and wasn't that impressed, myself and partner came here 3 nights ago and food was lovely, nice atmosphere and friendly staff, from now on its a toss up between here and rosso also excellent

Went here last night for the first time (now called Barber Cafe) and the food, service and decor is amazing! The lobster linguini on specials was outstanding, hope they keep it on the menu as I will now be a regular customer and want that everytime! Portions are a very good size, they don't rush you out the door and they were more than happy to make something for one of us who wanted something not on the menu.

Great food big portions all freshly cooked service very friendly & attentive we go regularly nice outdoor area to eat ir just for drinks we highly recommend Il Bacio

Just had a really lovely family get together .The food was superb and large portions .Great service and reasonably priced. Small but large enough for a party of 12(or more).

Really tasty food. Best if you like fish. Very loud music, made it difficult to have a conversation, especially for my dad who wears a hearing aid

The meal was ok we asked for garlic bread to start with then they brought buscetta and try to tell us that that was there garlic bread no very pleased with it no apologies or taking off the bill won't be visiting any time soon

I have been to this restaurant before for the Christmas party and it was so much better than when visiting with my partner a week ago. The food was mediocre and very overpriced. I wouldn’t come again. The roof of the conservatory was leaking and the water was dropping right next to us. We ordered a calamari as a started. If you pay £13 for a tiny starter you expect it to be fresh and not chewy..

The type of Italian food you can probably make at home. I miss travelling to Italy I do.

Me and my boyfriend have been in this restaurant for 3 times now, staff is five stars, food is amazing, they accommodate to you, make you feel welcome and the atmosphere is so warm that you feel at home even when its a busy night! If I honestly could give more stars to this restaurant I would.

We were a table of 6..celebrating a birthday...very friendly and warm atmosphere..food was very good from lamb cutlets to fish stew ..all very tasty dishes. Service excellent .cant wait to go back..

Just had a meal with friends here but sadly won't be returning. They had avocado with salmon or prawns on the menu but I asked for vinegarette dressing instead, they were unable to do this complex dish. They served me oven chips not fresh ones . I thought for a restaurant of this standard, they could at least make proper chips. We weren't even asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, they just gave us the bill and didn't even bother to collect the money from the table when we left. There was no goodbye from the staff either . Our waiter was very unfriendly and unhelpful. The ladies toilet was littered with toilet paper and not very clean, overall, we had a bad experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all.

Love it here. Especially now Luigi is back but even when he is not about, the guys maintain fantastic standard of welcome and service 😊

Tables are a bit close together, apart from that, it's fine.

Love it here... excellent authentic Italian food

Was a over all good food apart from when I ordered the prawn pasta dish I was flabbergasted to find out there was only 1 king prawn in my dinner. I don't know if the chef was just hungry on Friday night or weather there was a shortage in the Indian Ocean but for a main dish you would expect more than one poxy prawn. 3 stars

Discrete and very comfortable restaurant, good food and relaxed service.

We had calamari for starters , they were fried which was lovely. My main was a special of the day, a ragu with lamb. It wasn't​ that great the lamb was other cooked, the tomato sauce didn't taste right was a bit blend. Would come back as the wife had seabream and she liked it.

Terrible service, sleazy waiters leering at my partner, and quite possibly the worst fillet steak ever eaten, we will not be returning here thats for certain, they seem to have lost interest in the restaurant! Very disappointed.
