Hard to choose which fush n chop stall to go to but this one had a small option for £8.50. Absolutely delicious. Really hot. Perfect chips.

Amazing fresh fish ans chips on a wet dismal day. Was pouring hard and decided on fish and chips. Saw the stall and ordered 2 portions at £9.80. Sauces 20p extra. Cooked fresh to order. Minimal wait. Drove to Hive beach and ate them watching the sea. Tasted even better as we had previously been left out of pocket and disappointed from the Hive who charged twice the amount for much less quality. The fish was beautifully battered and the chips crispy and plentiful. Amazing value, we will be back.

Food always cooked to order. Well worth the wait. Pleasant staff. Great cheeseburger and chips. Lots of places to sit near by and enjoy your food.

WE decided to have fish and chips in West Bay late afternoon. There are a number of outlets to choose from bit we used No 8 as we had used it many moons ago. Not disappointed. Best Fish and Chips we have had for a long time. Large portions, well cooked, light crispy batter. We ate outside on a bench, is there any other way, surrounded by visiting bikers. Definitely recommend.

We always go here for take away food. 30+ years now. The staff are always friendly. Yet again fantastic cheese burgers and chips.

2nd time getting chips in west bay both times disappointing do not recommend the chips were dry and cold and over priced

Stopped off for some chips in West Bay a few choices but think we picked the right one, good quality, good sized portions and great value.

Very good queuing and serving system in place for lockdown. The food was hot, fresh, and very tasty. Sitting on the harbourside, in the sun, eating chips – life doesn’t get much better than that.

Beautifully cooked fish, tasty batter and amazing chips with a little bit of bite rather than the slightly soggy ones you often get. The Panko prawns are well worth a go too!

Fantastic fish and chips, me and my family went on holiday to West Bay last week and we tried a other big named fish and chip shop and were very disappointed but we went to this fish and chips shop and they were the best fish and chips we have ever had. The fish was so fresh and the batter light and crispy and the chips were divine. If anyone is around this area I would definitely recommend that you visit here.

We ate at a different chippy right next to it, and they were both amazing for dog free rent reasons. This one is more traditional batter, the chips were nicely coloured and crispy. The curry resembled more of a British/Indian curry rather than the traditional curry sauce but it is strangely delicious!! We wouldn’t eat here regularly as it was £8 for standard fish and chips which was plenty food but adds up when buying for a family. Service was good they accepted Apple Pay and card, quick and delish so easy 5 stars!

We havn't been to west bay for a while and made the mistake of trying another fish and chip seller. When we went back to No 8 we realised how good they are and what good value for money they are. We had a large cod and chips and it certainly lived up to its name. We had a beautiful piece of cod in a lovely tasty crispy batter and loads of tasty chips. 10/10 DO NOT go anywhere else. No 8 is the best

BEST FISH & CHIPS in WestBay! We’ve tried and tested a few in WestBay and this is by far our favourite. The food is so fresh and such great quality. It’s my favourite place to go to get Cod! The customer service is amazing which makes the experience even more delightful - such friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Ordered large cod and chips for myself, standard cod and chips and scampi and chips for others. Portion size was more than adequate. Fish was cooked to perfection with crispy batter, and the chips were also very good. Whole meal wasn't greasy. Service was with humour which was nice, especially in these difficult times. Highly recommended.

Just had chips so can't comment on the other things on the menu. Nice normal standard what you would expect a good chip to be. Unfortunately the two ladies are miserable, not sure if they are like that all the time or just didn't like us!!

I was recommended to have a good fish and chips lunch here. Very busy and It was tasty and plentiful but I had to ask for extra vinegar which was in short supply. Busy outlet and they have a straight forward queuing system and they prepare the meal in from of you.I ate it on the harbour overlooking the boats. Good meal and good value.

We stood in a long and slow queue early evening for fish and chips, only to get to the front and be told that they didn't have any fish left, I'm sure a sign wouldn't have been too much trouble. I continued to order the chips and battered sausage which were both excellent. Probably some of the best chips in west bay.

Out of the numerous food cabins, myself and the better half have always chosen this one as the food is usually fantastic!The wait for what was just a couple of portions of chips was long and the taste of the chips (mine had cheese on top) was bland, almost tasteless.Looked like new people running the unit? Either way, unfortunately I didnt enjoy my chippies by the sea front on this occasion.

Honestly can't fault the food - we had the bog standard cod and chips and it was leagues better then anything we had before. The portion sizes are not overly generous so you won't go away feeling extremely stuffed, but it's more then enough to satisfy your hunger. My only complaint would be the service is a little chaotic since they operate a system whereby they take your order and you pay and then you get a number. You stand to the side and then wait. Unfortunately when I ordered there was already a cluster of people waiting, and the group kept growing so before you know it no one knows where the line is. There's confusion about who's ordering and how long the wait is, people are constantly asking whether you're in the queue and when mistakes creep in its hard for them to correct it since there's a backlog of orders already. In reality they just needed to slow things down a little and get orders out before a crowd forms.

We visited here this week after studying the reviews of various eateries on Trip Advisor and observing the length of the lunchtimes queues!We had cod and chips for 3, and while the young lady behind the counter wasn’t that animated, nor swift she was however attentive in detail. Asking us just how we would like things, whether we wanted vinegar on our chips and a little extra on the fish. She kept us updated on our order as it was cooked fresh as you waited. There was no charge for ketchup and she put plenty on saving any squabbles between my daughter and husband about who had eaten all the ketchup! The fish and chips were lovely, with big chunks of fish. For me personally, the fish was a bit too greasy, requiring napkins to catch the drips, and we got a lot of scrappy chips in our service too. My husband however thought the food was perfect, and there were no complaints from our daughter!Having only tried the one place in West Bay I cannot day whether it’s the best fish and chips in the area, however the food is fresh and tasty. It’s reasonably priced and appears on par with its neighbouring fish and chip outlets, with a standard Fish and small chips being £7, while a large fish and small chips is £8.50. A lot cheaper than the outlets round where we live where the fish isn’t as fresh!!

We have been to West Bay several times and always buy lunch from number 8 . They are by far the nicest we’ve had . Crispy batter over generous portions of cod . Chips just right . We will definitely be back soon 😊

You can't beat freshly cooked Fish and Chips by the sea. Great quality, loved it, travelled back twice during our holiday in Bridport.

We buy from here every time we come to West Bay, now well over 10 years. I always choose large cod with small chips. It really is the very very best. Cod is always large and very succulent and the batter light. Altogether the VERY BEST of British,

This is our family’s favourite fish and chip shop! The food is always freshly cooked and tastes amazing, never greasy. The haddock is skinless and boneless and the batter is crunchy (the scraps are our eldest daughter’s favourite!) Don’t leave it too late in the evening as once they sell out it closes and they’re always popular.

Midweek evening in the summer holidays and it’s busy. Short wait and food is fresh, hot and very tasty. Two young staff working very hard to keep everyone happy and succeeding. Highly recommend

No 8 has the best fish, large portions and crispy batter with great chips. This is the best value in West Bay and the best fish and chips I have had for years.I now always use No 8 as it is consistently fine and served by nice people.

Tried the fish and chips after being out for the day, and can honestly say that these were the best I have ever had. Normally I have to take a lot of the batter off the fish because its to thick and greasy but these were so lightly battered and not greasy, chips were amazing and fresh not frozen and for the first time ever I have eaten everything would definitely recommend this place and staff were so friendly and helpful

Turned up today and thought we'd try a different food stall than from our previous holiday earlier this year.

Great food and no polystyrene so better for the planet than many other stalls nearby, but the same price.

Brilliant fish n chips the food is always good. Having tried the other kiosks in west bay this was by far the best. Although the queue was going across the road we got served in good time. Lovely staff (very friendly)always working there . My sister is a vegetarian and got a lovely veggie burger so it is inclusive for the whole family. The food is fresh not greasy at all.Overall a brilliant place that I would certainly suggest.

I have family near West Bay so go a lot. I have tried the fish and chips from nearly every place in the town and Traditional No. 8 is by far the best.

Visiting West Bay, we discovered this little gem of a fish and chip shop. We ordered large cod and chips, it’s was cooked to order and the cod was massive. Lovely friendly staff too.

These fish and chips are cooked to order, served straight from the fryer and are completely delicious. A rare treat for us to sit on a bench watching the nearby boats and enjoy a very generous portion of perfectly cooked fish and chips. Just needed a snack at 5pm on a Sunday so asked for portion of chips. The ones they gave me should have been discarded a while ago. Cold and soggy. Very disappointed. Most of the shacks in West Bay are loads worse than their reviews. Avoid.

Lovely piece of cod and deliciously crispy batter. Fab food from a little harbour side take away. Partner had burger which was great too. Highly recommended.

Daughter had Chicken Nuggets and Chips and I had a bag of chips. All went down very well. Excellent chips as far as I was concerned and my daughter, who is known to be fussy, eat all hers and loved them. So nice place to pick up chips etc. on a beach front.

Stopped on a Saturday evening for burger and chips plus drinks just great all freshly cooked so took a few minutes to arrive but otherwise very good.

We were on our way from Hampshire to Charmouth and decided to stop of at West Bay for fish & chips on the harbour. We were spoilt for choice, after long deliberations we chose No.8. We don't know how good the others were but we didn't regret our choice, the fish & chips were superb and made even more enjoyable by sitting on a bench on a lovely day with a fabulouse view of the harbour. I don't know if it was expensive or not, but that was furthermost thought in our minds. We will be back.

Fab chippy, fish is incredible, well worth the wait - we waited 40 minutes but it was worth it. Staff were great, I had the scampi kids and wife had the fish, which was beautiful. Loads of places locally to eat the chips on benches etc and tables to the side overlooking the harbour. Great place.

Usually a wait after ordering, due to the queue and everything being cooked to order. You are given a number which is called when its ready. Well worth the wait. Our fish was enormous, meaty with delicious crispy batter. We wouldn't go anywhere but No. 8 in West Bay if we want fish.

At this time of year this coast line is FULL of visitors.... despite this this little kiosk kept a stream of visitors very happy with excellent fast service and a realy good value meal. Either side of this kiosk are similar fast food outlets... all competitively priced and are equally to be recommended.

The family and I took a break in Dorset and visited the lovely town of West Bay near Bridport. We wanted to get some fish and chips for dinner but we were disappointed at how expensive the fish and chips were. The food wasn't bad but the price for the portion size was disappointing.

Stopped off here on a visit to West Bay, coming from Sussex the price was such a pleasant surprise, £13 for 4 people to eat F&C;, including a HUGE haddock, 3 sausages, kids meals - the lot! The food was delicious, perfect for a trip to the seaside. Will be coming back on our next holiday!

we live just north of West Bay, so we can visit out of season.we went down Saturday (Bank Holiday is over so a bit quieter, apart from Locals and those who think Television dramas by the sea are real !).as you can see I have reviewed No 8 before.it is still as good, still family run and still has queues when the others have not.as it was a blustery day we sat in the bus shelter along with one seagull (who we did not feed, before anybody says something ).don't get me wrong we do need visitors and I do appreciate the fact that we have these fine places all year long so please read the reports and come back to our nice chippy by the sea.

We got fish and chips here for 9 of us 4 of them children 3 under 3 years old. We ate opposite on the concrete plinth and it was like having a picnic. The kids loved it. What's surprising is that no 8 has got their fish and chips to perfection it's the best I've had since we have been here. The fact the kids meals for a small fish and chips was only £2 cheaper and far better than McDonald's. this place is a wonder. Perfect food best curry sauce I have ever tasted. Polite staff. Excellent. Wished they would come to Kent it's just what is needed. Someone who cooks good food and doesn't rip off a family. Hats off to you guys I am so impressed. Guys if you love fish and chips don't miss no 8. You will cheat yourself if you do.

"No 8" is currently our favourite fish and chip kiosk.They serve good size portions at reasonable prices. West Bay is a well worth a visit.

We came across the shacks along the harbour looking for dinner. Nice burgers and chips were taken back to the caravan worth a stop off or a quick eat

After our bad experience at the Riverside, we did wonder if West Bay was just out to fleece people but No 8 restored my faith. Although not a sit down eatery, the food was far superior to its neighbour. Sadly it now seems to have closed for Sept.

With lots of choice in this area, it was telling that this place had the longest queue. Worth the wait for yummy seaside treat.

its not just fish and chips.wide variety of sea food and different meats.small, medium, large portions to suit all sizes.they even have filleted whitebait ! (true and we have tried it).it is a family concern (management tells me that her hubby does the filleting at home).

We did have to wait quite a while for our order, nothing fancy just cod and chips and a kids sausage and chips. The fish was nicely cooked the batter tasty but I felt the chips let it down a bit burg were OK. Just a shame about the seagulls.

Bit of pot luck really as there are various kiosks like this to choose from in the Harbour area. Excellent food, don't be put off by the queue, the service is very efficient and you don't have to wait too long for some very tasty take away food.

We took the in - laws and our daughter to west bay, even though there are loads of fish and chips shops in Weymouth where we were staying. We weren't disappointed. ..The freshly cooked fish (haddock and rock) were superb. It's always fresh as they don't have space to store stuff.. The tea and coffee are so reasonable that they are the icing on the cake. The staff are friendly and efficient and I saw them being really helpful to some foreign tourists so top marks all round.

Visited West Bay on our annual family holiday to Dorset. Having read the reviews on Trip Advisor and as we were after a decent chippy, this seemed like a good punt. Cod and chips twice, children's meals of chips and fish cake, sausage and chips. All cooked to order. There wasn't anything wrong with the food, little greasy maybe, chips okay, fish okay, sausage came unbattered, fish cake was a fish cake. All okay, just a little underwhelming. I've had tastier chips & fresher fish with more flavour. Service was quick, the person who took our order was cheerful, the young lady who wrapped our food was slightly less so. Pricing was competitive. All in all okay, would I go back, probably not. It is personal opinion but I just found the food a little uneventful. It served it's purpose but I didn't really enjoy it, but I also didn't dislike it.

Hats off to the girls behind the counter here, one was taking the orders the other preparing them with some cooking in the back. Really nice fish some of the best I've ever had. Would happily go again. Would give them 5 stars but had to wait but was worth it.

Every time we visit Dorset and Dorchester we always make a night for proper fish and chips and no8 is the one service is quick and the food well try it and you won't be disappointed

Tried this because the two places we've eaten before weren't open. Fish was Ok but batter not great and the chip were overcoooked and hard. Would not try this again and feel the reviews are misleading. Assistant had a very heavy hand with the salt pot, fortunately we noticed that as we had to queue.

One of 5 similar, adjacent operators, we called at this one because it was the only one with a queue at the time of our visit. The fish & chips were excellent & good size portion. No hesitation recommending.

All the staff are well cool, and the food is wicked aswell. I would highly recommend the prawns and the squid. Really hits the spot.

Great traditional fish and chips. Been coming here for more than 10 years. Never disappoints, fabulous quality, wonderful service. Wished we lived closer than East Lambrook. The previous reviewer obviously got his huts mixed up and was talking about some where else. As has been mentioned always big queues which must say alaot.

Being a Yorkshire man and spoiled by Fish and chips in the North, we queued, queued queued then sat and ate fish and chips from this delightful place. Cooked to order (hence the queuing) we were not disappointed as we consumed our fish and chips on a nearby bench. The whole experience added to by the serenading of the watchful seagull! Will go back and do recommend.

This little unit set on the port where many people congregate and biker have meetings etc and the locally caught fish and chips were lovely

As regular visitors to West Bay over several years I can say with all honesty that this is by far the best fish and chip shop around. We just don't buy chips from anywhere else in West bay, the food is just outstanding and completely consistent. Just compare the queue to the ones for the other huts.

Used No.8 Traditional fish and chips through out the year always have beautifully fresh fish cooked to order. The batter is always crisp as are the chips. Have recommended to friends who have also been impressed.

Not somewhere I would recommend. Chips tasted old. Special prawns were frozen. Service was not with a smile.

Our cod & chips were cooked to order which meant that they were extremely hot. The chips were crisp and cooked to perfection. The cod tasty with a crisp batter.If only other fish & chip shops would cook to order. There is nothing worse than lukewarm chips from many of the British fish & chip shops. I would always be happy to wait for my order to have really hot food.The staff at No 8 were lovely, extremely polite and excellent customer service. Twice this holiday we stood in a queue whilst either side nobody at either "hut"; Queues and popularity tend to say everything!Fantastic food, clean, crisp, fresh and cooked to order, helps when the sun is out and you can enjoy straight away. Well done you guys, keep it up.
