Hub Box Dorchester in West Dorset

Waste ot money. When we arrived, nobody was greeting us, and non of the workers were in the restaurant area. After waiting 3-4 minutes, standing by the door, finally a bored face girl came and gave us a table. A sticky table with some breadceumbs on it, probably noone cleaned the tables previous day. We ordered drinks with no ice, after a good 10 minutes waiting it all came with ice. Restaurant was empty, we were the only customers. We ordered 3 burgers, chefs were chatting and laughing in the kitchen and non of them started a food until they have not finished ‘having fun’ in the kitchen. Food has finally arrived, half raw meat - not cooked properly-for my kids, burned burger buns and half cooked chips. Nobody came at all to ask ‘how is your food’ or asking is everythimg okay, some young girls were just chatting at the bar and looking their phone. Definitely this place gone downhill. We won’t return.

Food was cold when arrived, had cheesy chips but the cheese wasn't melted on top which made the chips colder. The actual beef burger was nice but had way too much sauce in the burger. Service was okay, except they didn't check to see if everything was alright. Quite a relaxed environment, wasn't busy at all, few other customers

Lovely venue, great food and hospitality.

Had a breakfast event for 50 lovely food and coffee was even offered extra from those who didn't turn up will be back to try the burgers as the they were recommended

We eat here regularly but the menu and quality has changed and prices have gone up. The chicken in the burger was significantly worse than it used to be, the rolls were dry and my burger was VERY rare and cold (almost inedible). Such a shame as the old menu was amazing. Also, food takes ages while they seem to prioritise delivery orders. Sadly we won't return. Fair play to the team who were very apologetic.

The food and staff are amazing but the quite large issue is how the tables are FILTHY, Blood stains in between the wood planks on the table and more.

Do you know what puts you off your food? Rude staff. After we had the displeasure of dealing with one female member of staff, we really didn't enjoy our food. We wont be back.

Most of the things we wanted were off the menu. Considering we ordered online at the table it probably could have been quite easy to mark it out of stock which was disappointing. It took a long time for our food to arrive (nearly 45 minutes, and the place was practically empty) and one of the burgers that we ordered without onions came with them on. The server said "we'll check to see if you ordered without onions, will you still want another one anyway". It then took another 25 minutes to get it done correctly and the chef clearly irritated at their own mistake both burned it and drenched it in mustard and ketchup to the point of it being absolutely vile. At this point we reason didn't see the point of bringing it up and just paid and left. Extremely disappointed.

Just got off the train (Dorchester South) found myself is this beautiful place, accompanied by great staff and some amazing food!

The burgers are small and very overpriced and the chips were old. Honestly no better than McDonald’s at more than twice the price. Vivo lounge around the corner has much better burgers.

The service and food were both terrible. It took about 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order and another 45 minutes to receive our food; the restaurant wasn’t even 1/4 full. The milkshakes were just lightly flavored milk and the burgers were burnt to a crisp and inedible. This was our only bad meal during our trip to the UK.

13 pounds for a tiny burger drowned in sauce, 3 pounds for sad cold shrivelled up fries. As takeaway, but they even did forget some people's orders. Just get Mc Donald's or something. I feel robbed.

Gone downhill hugely over the past few years. Have tried to stick with them, but tonight was the final straw. Missing item from a three item order. Spoke to two people. They said they’d packed the order themselves and it was in it. No sense of any culpability or risk they were wrong. The receipt items were not checked off on the bag when putting in the items as they clearly think they have this sussed. They have not. Avoid.

Got a xl Oreo milkshake, was very disappointed it was just pure milk the member of staff was very rude and unhelpful , 8.95 for an xl milkshake was very outrageous I think for what it was will not be coming back

First time eating here and the food was fantastic. The burgers were huge definitely worth the price you pay for will definitely recommend eating here. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was chill.

Not impressed at all. Had the Garlic/Parmesan Chicken Wings. So greasy so not enjoyable at all. Also had to try the garlic/parmesan fries. Also drowning in butter and far too greasy. Partner had a burger which cost £14.00. He wasnt impressed either. After seeing all the positive reviews we couldnt wait to try this place but sadly we wont be back. Overall experience very substandard.

Outstanding food, really friendly staff, appropriate pricing and great atmosphere and relaxed decor. 100% recommend

a little expensive, the change for a hamburger is about 20 pounds

My favourite burger place and the dirty fries are unreal. The milkshakes are amazing, it’s definitely on the pricey side, was £75 for 2 of us but worth it in my opinion

We (a groups of 7) arrived at 6:30, ordered our food at 6:45 and didn’t receive the food until 8:30. The restaurant was only half full. 6 of the group got their food at 8:30, already very late, then after asking twice, mine arrived at 8:45, by which time everyone else had finished and I had to ask for a takeaway box because I had no time to actually eat it. The staff did not apologise for the wait. I don’t normally write complaints but an apology would have helped. it felt like the staff saw nothing wrong with this… The food was good, but be prepared for a very long wait

My family and I had a table booked for 6 people for a birthday celebration. It took 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken after being seated which actually never turned up at our table even after having been there for 35 minutes! No food order had been taken either, if it was actually busy in there we would have been more understanding but as they were barely even half full it’s simply unacceptable. They were clearly understaffed and too busy with take out orders to focus on the customers actually in the restaurant which unfortunately left just one person trying to serve everyone else. My family and I have been coming here since it first opened and unfortunately the service along with the food selection has gone down each time. The lovely lady trying to serve everyone was certainly not to blame but there’s only so much one person can do with little to no help at all! Unfortunately this will be our last visit to this restaurant.

We all enjoyed our burgers. Good portions and nice flavours. They weren't busy.....perhaps 8 tables. It did take quite a while to recieve our drinks and food order considering they weren't full but the food made up for it. It's not a cosy place and when it's half empty I found it quite chilly but overall its a great place for a bite to eat before cinema. I can recommend the chicken and brie burger and caesar salad!!!

The burgers taste nice but are waaaay overpriced for what you get! A Mc Donald’s cheeseburger is around the same size for quarter the price. Also the chips/fries do not come with the burgers. £4.25 for a small portion of fries and £6.50 is the beginning prices of their dirty fries that come in a small bowl. The overall experience was disappointing but not awful. Just a chain restaurant trying to capitalise on small portions.

We called into The Hub Box on 02.11.2024 whilst staying at the adjacent Premier Inn and thoroughly enjoyed a superb burger, fries and onion rings. The burger was full of flavour with a great mix of beef, cheese fillings and sauces and really hit the spot. Plus it was all served by very charming and courteous staff who made us feel very welcome Definitely happy to recommend

Fantastic! I think the double bacon cheese burger I've just had may be the best burger I've ever had....at least top 3 (and I've eaten way too many burgers...). Excellent, friendly service. A real gem of a place. Go!

Went tonight, been before and have been disappointed in the past but hoped things may have improved - I was wrong (and my Mrs was right) - Order comprised of: 2 x burgers, 1 mac & cheese, 3 x fries, 2 x coca cola. Fries tasted like they were packet ones, cooked in oil that clearly tasted like it needed changing. Mac & Cheese tasted like it was cheap packet type stuff, (over) cooked in a microwave. Burgers were 'ok'. Atmosphere was dreadful, staff were pleasant enough but didn't acknowledge that the Mac & Cheese was barely touched as it was inedible, and my 7 y/o daughter left her fries as she hated the 'funny taste'. They use Philip Warren meat which is good but everything else was just dreadful. I have eaten burgers everywhere, London (Bleecker/ Patty n Bun etc.), the USA etc. and whilst Hub Box have the potential to offer good food, they just don't. They are down the road from me and, despite this, remain on the 'give it a miss' list.

Pre booked table for family of 8 we asked to be moved from the table as it was by the door and cold. Although only 25% full we were told the other tables were for walk ins. Which didn’t materialise! Have been on more than one occasion over last couple of years, we all agreed the patties and portions are far smaller than previous. My son questioned the size of his portion of fries and was told if he required more to order another portion. Sorry to say from our families point of view their race is run and we will not return.

We pre booked a table for 8 it was by the door and cold. We asked if we could move, but advised the other tables were for walk ins, it was only 25% full and got quieter from then on?? We have been on several occasions in last couple of years. We all agreed the patties are now far smaller, my son questioned the portion of fries (it did look small) but they suggested he buy an additional portion! Food was excellent! Staff were friendly and we were a party of 20 people. I was surprised how well they managed. Food came out on time and orders were all correct. A fantastic evening! Thank you Hubbox.

Excellent for a large group. • Staff were engaging relaxed and profesional. •Venue is clean and well presented. • food was excellent, tasty and hot • pre ordering for a large group is clearly an excellent idea, it allowed the group to be fed in good time. • the staff dealt with extra orders outside of pre order, nothing was a problem for the staff. Drinks were well priced and cocktails were excellent A thoroughly enjoyable evening, would highly recommend.

Unfortunately, I've had 2 bad meals in a row and won't be returning. 1st meal, my chicken burger was burnt on one side, which I noticed after a couple of bites and it tasting bitter. I opened up the burger, and the underside was black. I'm perplexed as to why they thought a customer wouldn't notice? 2nd meal, the chicken burger was so overcooked and hard, it was unedible, and definitely refried, not fresh. The service has always been great though.

Ordered a couple of times to takeaway however thought we would stop in this time. So much better. Special NYC deli burger was amazing. Team really good. Definitely be back

Overall a great experience my wife in particular loves it here as there are so many gluten free options available and I like it they as they have a great selection of beers on tap.

The All Star Burger, added bacon and added candied jalapenos was top notch! The Garlic and Parmasan tenders quite literally had the flavour of a really good Chicken Kiev.

i came here tonight with my boyfriend, although we where 5 minutes late to our booking we were welcomed with open arms! staff are incredibly kind. I then found myself needing the toilet😳, i walked down a dark spooky corridor (rather ominous) and the toilets were so fancy and so clean. Top notch if you ask me. The food was super good loved it and the overall vibe was very demure, very mindful. 10/10 will be coming back

What a find Great staff, amazing flavours and swift yet relaxed service

Fell into this restaurant as the establishment next door was closed and didn’t inform individuals who had booked. We were welcomed by the team and explained the situation. They got us seated and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. We shared some waffle fries and had a burger each. It was reasonably priced and very tasty. Good veggie options also. Would recommend the halloumi burger for veggies and the Honey C chicken burger. Big thanks to the staff for keeping our anniversary evening on track due to the Asian restaurant next door being shut.

We’ve been quite a few times now & on our visit last night we were both saying how the service & food is amazing each time! It’s not often you can say that about many places these days either. We’ve tried many combinations of the menu along with some amazing specials and they have all be outstanding. The staff are always super friendly, quick service and a welcoming atmosphere. Solo dining on a Monday evening, travelling for work. Service was spot on, staff couldn’t have been better. Had the buffalo buttermilk chicken burger, which whilst delicious, lacked heat… as others have said. Wouldn’t stop me ordering it again, but HB management, if you’re reading this, get some heat in your buffalo sauce! Had the garlic and parm dirty fries which were great too. Recommend.

Visited this restaurant last night. Restaurant was obviously busy, but we were still waiting for starters an hour and half after sitting down. Would advise your staff to tell customers of potential long waits and be honest as to why. Lovely building totally spoilt by terrible service. We did notice deliveroo orders were being served very promptly though!!! Suffice to say we upped and left and went somewhere else. We won’t be going back.

The girls waiting tables were lovely. Food wise: Garlic Parmesan fries, strawberry cooler and elderflower coolers were nice, but that’s about it. The Chilli burger was average and the onion rings were raw and doughy, not the crispy light batter you would expect from giant onion rings, couldn’t eat them. Chicken wings were greasy and the sauce was a poor excuse for buffalo hot sauce, zero heat, zero tang and zero flavour. Disappointed that we wasted £50 for a stomach ache.

Sitting outside in the sun having one of the best burgers (the All Star) I have ever eaten and the pint of Verdant Lightbulb is going down a treat too (recommended - much better than the name suggests!). Staff very welcoming and friendly - a great find overlooking the square and fountains.

Been meaning to try here for awhile, glad i did. DELICIOUS burgers.. the oklahoma one in particular was good. Hotdogs went down well with the teenagers. Not the cheapest of places but a nice treat. Only thing i'd say is please smash the smash burgers a ickle harder but that's just a personal preference.

We went for the locals night which was £15 per person for a drink, burger & side. We were pleasantly surprised to hear cocktails were included in this offer as well as the dirty fries as your “side”. The burgers were tasty, messy (which is great) and a good size. The dirty fries had a great amount of toppings and sauce and the cocktails were delicious (be it slightly small) As a vegetarian there were 2 options. A battered halloumi burger or a vegetable burger with Mexican sauces/jalapenoes. I got the Mexican veg burger which wa packed full of flavour. However a plant base meat alternative would be a great addition to the menu. Oversell, even if it wasn’t an offer night we would return but maybe pick the draught beers over cocktails and share a portion of dirty fries + one other side.

Finally found time to visit again and it's 'Locals Night'. The food and service was absolutely amazing 👏 I love that the service hasn't gone downhill since they opened and the inside still looks as good as new. Highly recommend if you're in Dorch and in need of some burger goodness!

Fantastic juicy burger and fries cooked just how they should be.

Incredible! The staff were fabulous and the food was to die for.

Very expensive burgers that were so sloppy and greasy they were nearly inedible. As soon as server put the plate down the burger started to fall apart due to the high level of grease, sauce, melted cheese and the fact it was in a brioche bun (always a bad idea for a burger). Every time I tried to take a bite I had to reassemble it to the point I just gave up and left over half of it. The tables so were so close to each other we were practically knee to knee with the people next to us and the whole restaurant was so loud that we could barely hear each other from across the table. If you are considering going here I would urge you to go to the Wetherspoons or McDonald’s instead, the burgers are much better, it’s a better atmosphere and it will cost you £16 instead of £60. And that’s another thing… £60 for two burgers, chips and drinks! Absolutely extortionate!

OMG....ive travelled the planet and this was one of the tastiest burgers I have ever had......highly recommended 5 Star service.

Had a great meal this evening with my girlfriend and were served by a lad who we later realised was on his first shift. He was very attentive to the table, polite and all round excellent. Hope he gets this feedback as it made for a great evening.

Saturday evening visit, table for 7, couldn’t fault anything! Empty plates all round, vegan option was also really good!

Review by 9 yr old daughter: It’s a nice place and the wait time was about 20 minutes as it was very busy. Bathrooms were clean but the toilet wouldn’t flush. What I ordered: 2 chicken tenders and cheesy chips, the chips were nice but the cheese on it tasted mild and I could tell it was American cheese and some Mac and cheese sauce. The chicken tenders were amazing! Better than many places I’ve been too.

Food is nice but my god how portion sizes have changed. As per usual with this type of restaurant, when they first open they get you in with huge portions but then, when their reputation is peaking, they reduce the portions and put the prices up. Their chili cheese fries are nice but the portion sizes have halved. There used to be loads of chilli and loads of melted cheese but now there is a ladle size amount of chili and some cheese grated on top. 3 chicken tenders for £8 and they were mostly batter. 5 piece chicken select in McDonald’s is massively better and a lot cheaper. I won’t be going back.

Vegetarian food was good but not a huge variety. It was ok but not up to the standard of other burgers.

Came here for boozy brunch with a party of 4, had been served as soon as we sat down. The food was great and the atmosphere was inviting. Vegetarian options were excellent. Would recommend for any occasion.

First time. Ordered mother clucker loaded fries. The chicken was okay, the fries were stale, and so bad at least 2-3 days old and not even refried, just cold soggy, and disgusting. Worst chips I've ever had. On our way out, saw multiple diners with left over fries. The chef on Saturday clearly had no idea how to cook..won't be back again.. or recommend the place #disgusting

Fantastic food, really friendly and helpful staff. This is the first time we’ve visited and would definitely go again. My daughter is Celiac and the GF options were pretty much the whole menu which is outstanding! It was so nice for her to be able to have what she wanted without the usual worries. I think we’ve found our new favourite place!

Food wasn't great. Burgers tasted nice but slipping out the bun, chios were nice but soggy with oils they out on to flavour. They Forgot my chips so burgers came out and my partners chips come out but then I had to wait for mine to be cooked. Onion rings tasteless and chrispy disappointed . £52 light for two people. Two chips, two burgers and onion rings.

After seeing all these five star reviews I am wondering if I am eating at the same place. Since the new menu was introduced and lots of old favourites taken off the menu I am wondering if it is under new management. I have never had any problems before but the last time I dined there I'm afraid it will be my last. I had to send my burger back because it was burnt and the replacement was just as bad and greasy likewise the fries. My favourite drink cream soda has also been discontinued. I am so disappointed but I can no longer give Hub Box my patronage.

Fabulous friendly staff, efficient too! The food is great! Burgers, dogs, chicken etc. Good cocktail deal as well. Falafel burger and classic dog was great, so were the onion rings, the slaw and the parmesan fries! Nice vibe, buzzy atmosphere and very popular on a Saturday night! Live band playing too, not sure if they were appreciated though! ?

Please bring back the old menu.

great place to get a burger - and boy are they good

Food was very good however everything is priced seperately, burgers etc do not come with anything else. Service was very polite. Very pricy for burger and chips and not happy that dogs are allowed in especially when one began barking at me as I emerged from the underground loos. Beware 10% service charge added automatically although I was told about in by the waiter at point of payment, and you can ask for it to be removed. Bill for three burger and chips, chilli dog and chips three lager four coctails one soft drink just shy of £130.

A good place to go for a burger and dinner.
