If you’ve had authentic Chinese food before, this is not authentic Chinese food. It was very europeanised. I ordered the combination noodles which had the slow cooked pork (very nice), half an egg (liked it), some sort of chicken in sweet and sour (very pleasant - reminded me of some good school dinners I had way back in the day), two chicken nuggets (eh they were okay), udon noodles and a sauce. The sauce was very tasty but I think that came from the pork. I had a Diet Coke which was priced at £3.60… audacious if you ask me. But we had a long day and I wanted a cold drink. This place is very small so I understand the price point but the label of Chinese food doesn’t really warrant it. It was hot food that was filling but this is a European-Asian fusion restaurant. The staff were pleasant though little room to make changes to the portion sizes which I didn’t get. I don’t know if it was a language/communication barrier. It cost just over £20 each (expensive in my eyes for what we got. £15 a head would’ve been more appropriate but I understand they’re a small business in a small town). It’s what we needed but I wouldn’t go back.

Horrible food, HIGH PRICES. Only place with availability and they know it and they profit off of it. Complete rip-off. Better to go to the Co-Op grocery store close by for a premade sandwich if you can't find a restaurant.

With out a doubt the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten and I’ve had some dodgy Chinese food in China town in my time. Our combination rice dish consisted of 2 chicken nuggets which were probably frozen and from Asda, some scrambled egg in tinned tomatoes which I thought was a sweet and sour sauce, under cooked broccoli, half a brown hard boiled egg and some meat and potato’s in a dodgy sauce. How they have the front to put that in front of people and expect to get away with is disgusting. Please, please stay away, all I can say is it’s coustomers don’t read trip advisor reviews, god only knows I’ve learned my lesson. Lastly at £18 for a bowl of what I can only describe as garbage is disgraceful. Please see attached phot and it’s a good job Tripadvisor hasn’t got scratch & sniff.

Cuisine simple mais satisfaisante en choisissant dans les recommandations du chef. Nous n’avons pas testé les plats européens.

Low-key good food and friendly staff. I don’t know what others are talking g about but it definitely didn’t happen to me and my parents! The food was really tasty though I’d love to have a bit more detailed explanation of the dishes. They were still really good!!!

I should have read the Trip Advisor reviews before stopping here for lunch. The overall quality of the food was poor. My wife’s chicken came in a sauce that was inedible although the chicken was good. My cod was not fresh and the fried rice was basically just white rice with egg. We also tried the cucumber salad. It was fine but was basically cucumber and soy sauce for 6 pounds - no herbs, no spice. Given that the food was expensive, I expected a much better lunch.

This restaurant is quite pricey. 20 pounds for one noodle and coke. I ordered a beef noodle. The beef is testless and look like a frozen meat. But the soup is really great. The staff is very friendly. He advised me which seat get better views of Portree.

If I could give it 0, I would do it. Rude, arrogant and very unprofessional staff/owners. Poor ambience. Exorbitant prices for the quality and quantity of food. Raw vegetables served with white rice. Charges £0.50 for a glass of tap water. A complete rip-off.

On a Monday everything in Portree is shut so this was one of very few options. If I was in Portree again on a Monday, I would accept being hungry. Tried to charge £82.50 because this scam artists massively hikes the bill (£14.80 is listed for broccoli and garlic stir fry, which when he produces the bill has miraculously inflated to £22). He claimed he had done us a favour by letting us bring in a dog and a baby, but couldn't indicate where on the bill or on the menu a dog and baby charge is shown. He eventually agreed to reduce the bill to £60 and my wife did a bit of calm(er) mediation and after I offered to wait for the police (who I have no doubt have been there before for similar issues). No doubt he will respond to this and call me a very rude man or racist against Chinese nationals. But he and I (and everyone else who has been scammed by this bloke) know what he is up to.

Our first night in Portree and we hadn't booked a restaurant. The only place available was No. 1 Noodles and Chinese and we thought we'd take a punt. Was suspicious when we were led upstairs to an empty restaurant. Were given the menu's and we could not make sense of it - definitely not Chinese with chicken nuggets and hamburgers on the menu. When I queried what was in the egg rice I was told just egg and rice no vegetables. The rest of my party were also uneasy and we made the call to leave the restaurant. Thank goodness we did after reading the reviews. If you find yourself unable to dine in a restaurant while in Portree, I suggest going to the supermarket and picking up something there. That's what we did and given we rented a home we had a very pleasant meal of soup and pasta. No.1 Noodles and Rice is not a Chinese restaurant and as some reviews suggest it looks like a front for some money laundering venture.

People on here need to manage their expectations a bit. No its not China town and yes it is a cash only Chinese crammed into the upstairs of a takeaway but hey you know that when you go in? The fact that most of the other people there at the time were actual Chinese was a good enough endorsement for us. We stubbled into here on a wet day in Portree. Portree and Skye are over run with tourist's at the best of times so trying to find a table for 6 on a lunch time on a wet day in July was never going to be easy. The staff here though were having none of it and re-shuffled the restaurant to accommodate us. We had a mixture of Chinese, Euro-Chinese and British food. All was ok. It was rather pricey but as above its the middle of the busiest tourist spot in Scotland so kind of expected it.

Would not recommend eating in this establishment. Visited with my family and me and my daughter had chicken nuggets with rice and a sweet chilli sauce. The nuggets clearly came from a frozen packet. Rice was bland with no vegetables through it. My son had King prawns priced at £17. The small amount of prawns came on a lettuce leaf and nothing else. Our overall bill was £82 for a family of 4. Absolutely diabolical. Worst place I have ever been.

Under no circumstances visit this place. Truly awfull and expensive food. By the looks of it, feels like a front for some money laundering operation- while other restaurants were fully booked, we were the only ones stupid enough to actually try having dinner there.

Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Instead of chinese food, we were given chicken nuggets with sauces on the side & spring rolls that clearly came from frozen packets. We could have cooked this at home for less than £10 instead it cost us £23 per head for five of us. Feeling that we have been conned.

Couldn’t get food anywhere as Portree is so busy. Recommend you book anywhere . We were very hungry so took a punt. Paid 30 quid and then when we opened up our food found some rice and cucumber in one and the other was like a pot noodle that had a chicken nugget In it. Clearly profiteering from tourism this place is should be avoided at all cost. The coop down the street sells pot noodles for a pound or so . That’s the better option .

A place to avoid at all costs!! We are a couple with a little 8 year old girl. We wanted to have a saturday diner in Portree. Our daughter wanted to eat noodles, we were delighted to find this restaurant surprisingly empty while all the others were full. Our second surprise was the « cash only ». We ordered a chicken burger, pork with rice and pork with noodles. When everything arrived, it looked like microwaved. Not tasty at all. Really dry and tasteless pork, plain rice and noodles microwaved without even salt. When it comes to the bill, it was 65 pounds. This place is a shame. Even if all the others restaurants in Portree are full, I would really recommend to buy a sandwich at the coop instead of eating there. A place to absolutely avoid! When whyle paying we signaled our disapointement, the « Waiter/Boss » was absolutely reactionless, perfectly knowing what was going on. A kind of « scam » , « rip off »…. Just to avoid!

We've visited the island a few times as we're moving here in a few weeks. We've tried lots of places to eat on Skye but No1 was always closed but last night it wasn't so Chinese it was. That was the worst decision I've ever made. It was awful to say the least. We had 2 main courses with egg fried rice at a cost of £33.60!!!!!! My partners description was 'a box of overpriced sh*t' I should've just walked out when I was waiting for my order. No food smells were coming out of the kitchen. The only conclusion was that it was microwaved. If you fancy a Chinese whilst on the island, think again. There's a co-op down the road, grab a sandwich. I'm just disappointed there's no lower option but 1 star

Placed my order at 19.22 it’s now 20.38 and the food hasn’t even left the restaurant. I’ve spent £25 of my hard earned cash and nobody has contacted me with an explanation or apology. I’m still waiting as I’ve had a long hard day and am hungry.

Probably one of the worst take outs I’ve had. Honey chilli chicken was unlike anything I’ve had before and inedible. Beef curry was poor and binned half of it. Not cheap. Save your money and get a micro meal.

Take away. Either they know we are tourist and didn't care about what they gave it to us, or the chef has no idea about what he is doing. Egg fried rice didn't taste of anything, no seasoning, no flavors, nothing. Fried Beef strips was eating a cardboard in a soggy sauce, which was gelatinous and tasted horrible. They just throwed big chunks of raw carrots into it, which added to the horrible sauce. Had to throw away,as I was not sure about the side effects it might cause the next day.
