Superb fish and chip shop. Really appreciated the variety on offer; we had calamari and scampi. The chips were the nicest we’ve had in Suffolk. Excellent service too. Highly recommended.

Portion sizes are a joke. Large is medium and medium is a small/kiddies Portion. Fish the size of my hand and about 20 chips total. Go back to the original owners

Had a sit down dinner this evening. The lady who attended to us was lovely and so friendly to both us adults and the children especially. The food was SO good, lovely light crispy batter on the fish and the chips were awesome 🤩

Fish was really fresh but chips were like cardboard would have brought them back but lived in grundisburgh just was recommended

We visited to No.1 fish bar in Kesgrave on Thursday night. There was plenty of parking available in the Tesco car park. This was our first time trying this sit in fish and chips. The fish bar has takeaway and the restaurant is beautiful decorated and very clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. There was plenty of seating available. They have a good selection of food that is reasonable priced. We was served at our table and the food arrived shortly after, all cooked fresh. A lovely piece of cod and the chips were crisp and not oil or limp. My fish and chips came with a lovely little side salad that broke up the chips and battered fish. I really liked the added extra at no additional cost. The drinks were good and reasonably priced. The customer toilet was clean and well looked after. I will definitely visit again and I highly recommend. Lovely meal out, it was much better fish and chips than I would receive at a pub. Thank you to all the staff that made us feel so welcome.

Popped in for coffee midweek around 10am. Clean & well presented. Staff were polite & attentive. Coffee was good but seeing as that is all I had I can't comment on the food. I was also the only customer so the atmosphere is again something I will need to return during busier times to experience/comment on.

Just had haddock and chips first time we have used this fish bar. It was amazing highly recommend them.

So Me & my wife have tried the no.1 fish bar as it’s local to our home.( Fox Lea) Portion sizes are a joke, very expensive for what you pay, plus the biggest & most shocking issue we have- is that no one from the shop staff has told us that they FRY in Animal blood Fat oil…….!! My wife can only have chips because she is allergic to meat… My wife felt sick after eating the Chips & not to mention the Chicken burger I had- smelt of Fish!!!! Don’t appreciate the misguided service & bad experience.

Just had a battered sausage, chicken nuggets and chips with some mushy peas. Everything was absolutely perfect!

What you expect of a small cafe/fish bar-but more. Staff are amazing nothing is too much trouble. Very clean. Excellent cafe food, and wonderful fish and chips the drinks are great too. Wonderful lunch venue or takeaway.

Went there today, very disappointed with the sudden price rise on all items, suddenly at cheap lunchtime treat becomes a expensive option that people will have to think wisely about paying that much. And personally the price of the "homemade" pies, was horrendous from under 3 pounds to £5.90 and to be honest not as nice as pukka pies... too much pastry. Gonna look for other options now. Sorry Fish bar but you're no longer number 1.

We tried No.1 Fish Bar for the first time yesterday, after it being recommended to us. We absolutely loved it, beautiful food, the plaice we ordered was so big it filled the plate, lovely staff working very speedily to get peoples orders out quickly and a real buzz about the place, we would definitely recommend

Fantastic! Every time we have them, we eat the first chip and say “how are they SO good!?”. Every single time. Such friendly service too. A great addition to Kesgrave!

Take away plaice and chips. Good prices, great service, friendly people and nice atmosphere, with decent chip size and generous Plaice. no complaints. Keep up the good service 👍

Cooked to order great taste, good value for money

Food is great but disappointing service. Twice have been in and waited whilst customers who arrived, ordered and paid after me were served before me. After 25 minutes, when querying the delay I was snapped at and told that “telephone orders come first”, but the people being served ahead of me came in and ordered? I was then told that my order 110 was next. My order was 107….and had not been put through. No apology. Would rather drive to Martlesham and be served in a timely manner by polite staff.

Great food and plenty on the plate

I read about someone getting soggy fish but I must say what I had last week was excellent. Keep up the good work. This is added part my order was short and when I went back a bit later the management were brilliant. No problem in fact doubled what I was missing. Would recommend any time fish once again excellent. Keep it up

Expected more from the other reviews but honestly it was pretty bland. Cooked in beef dripping i suspect as it was pretty greasy and the fish was nothing special. Not the cheapest either.

I’ve had fish and chips and sausage and chips so far both were very good, the sausage was excellent, the chips were definitely not soggy, best put the salt and vinegar on when you get home.

Best chips ever Excellent portions lovely staff Jumbo sausage n chips £4 huge portion Breakfast was good but not enough being charged to swop some item was a bit lame tbh but lovely otherwise

Phoned my order through with no issues at all and picked up 15min later ,service was great and food was fantastic probably the best fish and chips I've had in a long time I highly recommend No.1 fish bar .

Excellent food & service, I would suggest the other chippies need to up their game to meet these standards, well done keep it up.

Ordered medium cod and chips with salt and vinegar to takeaway. Very quick service. Once home, which is a 3 minute walk. Everything was super soggy and greasy, and no salt and vinegar. Very disappointed. Very poor showing for a place which has only just opened.

Excellent fish and chips. Friendly and helpful staff. Today first visit and will be back.
