Ok so the best thing about staying here was meeting Michael who made the breakfast. The accommodation is tiny and tired. We arrived and it was pouring with rain outside. The guest house was cold and there was no way of turning the heating on. The rooms are very tired. The furniture mismatched. The place was spotless also down to the work of Michael and the other cleaning staff. Breakfast which In other reviews was deemed good was ok. Well cooked but not screaming local produce. The continental breakfast was poor. Cereal, orange juice and toast does not a continental breakfast make. I regret the whole package is overpriced and we wish we had gone to a Travel Lodge. We opted for the cafe as the pictures suggested somewhere with character and good food. Disappointed.

On the positive side our host was very pleasant, the breakfast was first class, it was in a great location very close to pubs, shops, the beach front and the bed comfortable. On the negative side. On arrival there was nobody at the B&B so we had to ring them and get a key code to let ourselves in, you have to pay to park about 150 metres from the B&B, which cost us £9.00 to park overnight. The stairs are steep and narrow, we were lucky we only had backpacks. The bedroom was tiny, the bathroom although modern was even smaller, the window was kept open by a mini aluminium bathtub and it was noisy. Our stay was on a Saturday night, so we had loud drunks until the early hours of the morning then the street sweeper started from 6 am. Our cost was $250.00 (approx £125.00) which I believe is overpriced.

Stayed in this B&B for two nights. Wanted something central for a family event. For the price this was a great B&B. There were great things about this place, and a few cons. Pros: The location. Price compared to other hotels. The host (Michael). Breakfast. Comfy bed. Fairly quiet. Clean. Toiletries. Access after hours. Multi story parking nearby (cost us £18 from Friday night to Sunday lunch time). Cons: Our room was very small (I know there are larger rooms). Bathroom small. Shower lacked power. Tight stairs getting up to room. Overall it was a great little B&B. Not for you though if you have mobility issues or cannot navigate around very tight spaces.

We stayed here for one night whilst travelling around the South coast. We were given a very nice welcome from the lady when we booked in, which was no hassle. The cafe is very centrally located within easy reach of shops and restaurants. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a range of options, served by a very pleasant chap who was more than helpful with local information. On the whole good value for money. I would definitely return.

As many people have already said a very quirky cafe/hotel but the staff could not be more welcoming or trusting. We stayed in room number 2, great size, lovely breakfast and an absolute bargain at under £80 per night for 2 people. Parking is a doddle with car parks a few minutes walk.

Had a great 2 night stay here recently. Found the entrance through the cafe a funny and quirky way of getting to my accommodation, I liked it! Something a bit different. The room was a little small, probably better suited to just one person, with a compact bathroom, but it was perfectly adequate. Hopefully I'll get one of the bigger ones next time I visit! The best thing about the place was the lovely, friendly and welcoming staff, and a fresh cooked breakfast in the morning. Would really recommend a stay here.

I arrived at the front door (just after 5pm) to find it locked with no bell and no evident phone number. There had been no warning that, after 5pm, it was necessary to telephone to obtain access. Fortunately I had a smartphone with me so was able to search for a phone number and to get the code for the door lock. Without such a phone I would have had considerable difficulty. The room was small but adequate and seemed clean enough. The bathroom was clean but the shower was feeble and the door didn't close properly leaving a gap so care was needed to avoid a flood. I was leaving very early and had been told when I telephoned that there were breakfast products laid out for early starters. I thought this was a good idea - until I tried to help myself in the morning. There was a choice of three baked goods (brown bread, white bread and teacake). All of these were mouldy - each and every piece. I went to the cafe counter and found another small stack of teacakes. I took one of these and found that although it was free of mould it was old and stale. I took two pats of butter from the fridge. One of these was already on the turn and had a distinct rancid taste. The other was OK. Bearing in mind that this business is primarily a cafe - a food supply business - it is astonishing and appalling that they provide not one but several items of food not fit to eat. I emailed the management (via the booking agent) to express concern. One hour later I received an email from the booking company to say that the cafe had charged my credit card the full amount of my stay. I emailed the management direct and after four hours received an apology with an offer of a free breakfast on my next visit. This is an offer which I will find easy to refuse. Having informed the management of the mouldy bread, stale teacake and off tasting butter they ignored all but the mould. I suspect that this is simply because I photographed the breads and so had strong and undeniable evidence. The stale teacake and off butter could be dismissed as a picky customer - but the mould is visible as per photos.

We had a lovely overnight stay in the charming bed & breakfast. It was great having no keys to worry about just codes to remember. The bed was comfortable and like another reviewer said, could do with extra pillows. It's central to everything we needed. We were lucky & didn't have any outside noise. The breakfast is freshly cooked & tasty. We did expect substitutions for not having part of the full English but it wasn't offered. My friend is gluten free & was well catered for. All in all we would all definitely recommend this establishment & will definitely book it again in the future.

If you like sleeping on a bed which slopes right to left, in a room which overlooks the high street with early morning bin collections and street cleaning, then this is the place for you to stay. The TV doesn't switch on, the bath towels are slightly oversized hand towels and the shower room is large cupboard. The breakfast is ok but the cook can't cook scrambled egg properly and serves 'chopped up' omelette instead. If you have heavy luggage, the very steep stairs present a serious risk. Oh yes and it's not cheap!!

Let me say right away that, despite the fact I was half frozen in this place - because the heating did not work in my room on a particularly cold Monday night - I liked it. The Cafe Guest House is exactly that. A Cafe - funky and vibrant - with a few rooms above. It is run (I think) by an artistic couple, and the decor and ambience is in welcome contrast to most hotel type joints. Comfortable bed (could do with additional pillows though) and nicely decorated, the breakfast is also good and included in the £65 a night room rate. This is more than half the price of a night in the nearby Hotel du Vin, where you can spend £150 on a room and then be asked for a further £17 for breakfast. Which is having a complete laugh in my view. So, assuming the Cafe Guest House sorts out its faulty radiator, then I recommend it. The only other downside is that some rooms overlook the High Street. There was a loud fight outside my window at 1.30am, followed by bin men coming along at 5am. Lively, then, despite the fact that Poole itself is dead as a dodo after 7pm on winter week nights.

I had to stay in Poole overnight for work and this café guest house was exactly what I needed!Because I was checking in after 17:00 when the café is closed I got a text from a lady called Fiona telling me exactly what to do to get to my room.To get to the rooms you have to enter a code on the main door and walk through the closed café and upstairs, the main door code is also the code for your room lock. When I arrived there was an envelope on a table by the door telling me where my room was etc, they even said if you are hungry you can take food from the chiller in the café but to make sure it's paid for, they also reminded you that the café is covered by CCTV in case anybody tried to get a freebie!I was in room 4 which is right at the top of the building overlooking the shopping street below. The room was bigger than I expected and was very clean and decorated to a high standard. The room had a small wardrobe with hangers, a small chair and table and a dresser with a kettle tea, coffee and biscuits .The bed was a double and was incredibly comfortable, there were 2 bedside tables and a wall mounted TV.The only thing (in my opinion) that let the room down was the blinds looked as if they had seen better days, they also let in a lot of light in the morning. The bathroom was clean and bright and there were complimentary toiletries, the shower was huge and very nice! All in all for a café with rooms above it is more luxurious than I expected for the price, and is conveniently located right in the middle of the town centre.Unfortunately I had to check out before they started serving breakfast so didn't get to try that bit, maybe next time!

We had lunch here yesterday after a quick spot of school uniform shopping and had an almost mirror image experience to the previous reviewer. My wife enjoyed the homemade carrot soup and I thought that the tomato, pesto and mozzarella panini made a welcome change the usual commercialised fayre which constitutes most chain food offerings typically found on the high street. Staff were attentive and we were left unharrassed to enjoy the view from our upstairs table onto the comings and goings on the high street below. The food may not set the world on fire but is a great way to refuel after traipsing around those shops!

We had for sometime been going to a large chain cafe in Poole and thought it would be nice to try somewhere new. We went into the cafe nearby and no room, so we plumped for No 34. It was too cold to sit outside so made our way inside. It too looked busy but we were told there was seating upstairs. We were the only ones up there. It was nice having the room to ourselves and watching the world go by outside by the window. A nice suntrap.I had a bowl of homemade carrot and coriander soup and roll. It was piping hot. My husband had a baguette with side salad and we had a Cappuccino and a pot of tea ( with it's own hand knitted cosy). It worked out cheaper than our usual venue and better food and service. We listened to music in the background, while looking at the arts and crafts they had on display and for sale. I will definately return. I also want to attend one of their craft sessions to learn how to crochet too. They also do other craft sessions. I will also return for another choice of lunch one Saturday too. Highly recommend.

As it was a hot day they were also serving cordials and freshly squeezed orange juice. There is indoor and outside seating on the precinct so no traffic going by which is nice.
