No 12 in Stockton-on-Tees

Let me first say that first impressions were good, very welcoming although a little chilly. This was our first visit to Meat at 12, a birthday celebration. As I say first impressions were good. Alas that’s about as good as it got. Before ordering we were told that there were no pork dishes, no lamb dishes and no Oysters. That regrettably left a very limited Bistro menu, nevertheless we chose to stay and order. That we did but only to be told that yet another item, Mussells, were also off the menu. So in effect the whole event left us somewhat disappointed. To be fair though the manager did give us free drinks and was apologetic for the state of affairs stating supplier problems on the day. The food we did get was beautifully cooked and prepared but alas could not overcome that initial disappointment. We went there on a recommendation. Would we go again? Sadly I have to say probably not Norton has a number of good quality eateries all competing for a limited customer base. I understand that in the current climate restaurants can ill afford to over stock their “larders” but they must make sure that they have some sort of back up plan for events of the nature we experienced today failing which the risk is that what customer base they do have will quickly erode.

My friend and I visited last night and had the Chateaubriand to share. It was so tasty and was served with a choice of two sauces, (we chose the red wine and Diane sauce, gorgeous) you also had a choice of two sides. We opted for the creamed leeks with pancetta and whole grain mustard with triple cooked chips. The staff were attentive and friendly and the owner was keen to hear our comments.

Went this evening to this restaurant. I’ve never felt so robbed. Steak was dry and fatty. Creamed leeks and panchetta was dried leeks and the triple cooked hips had to be washed down with fluids. The venue looks great but the food was absolutely awful.

Our meal & service was absolutely shocking this afternoon! I never write a bad review or complain but the burger was absolutely shocking & salad brown You forgot we were even at the restaurant so we waited 20 mins for a drink I said the food was awful but was never offered anything off the bill or an apology You’ll be closed my Christmas if you treat people like that Best steak house in north east is laughable

Booked for 6pm, got sat in a booth being blinded by a setting sun. Order not taken until 6.40by a waitress who just didnt care at all. Starters arrived very average indeed all cold crab toast was not toasted. There were a limited number of mains beef cheeks were off the lamb was off, so unless you wanted a burger chicken or steak you were struggling. We sat from 6.50 to 8pm waiting for two burgers and another dish, it was quite apparent something was up in the kitchen, the chef was cooking burgers in the oven I noticed as I went past and the burgers were supposed to be char grilled. At 8pm we were told the food would be a few minutes, no explanation given as to why, no food arrived and 20 mins later we paid for our drinks and left, with a bit of an apaology but no explanation. On our exit the lady who welcomed us said she hoped we had had a nice meal, obviously unaware that we had not had a meal at all. Never going back terrible place the owner seems to think if you put a facelift in and call it a resteraunt it will just all work out, avoid this place.

The best burger I have ever had. I don’t normally like blue cheese but this was something else! The staff where there to recommend everything and made sure we had the best time and the price was I beatable far better than tamohawk I would definitely come back!

Lovely food but if anything too much portion but still enjoyed. Staff very helpful and location good. Only problem was the parking.

Nice food, well presented and served. Good choice of menu at both lunchtimes and evenings, cooked from fresh, so a little wait, but worth it

We enjoy the varied life in Norton, however on recent visits have found Harland Place to have become complacent over the quality of food. The steak I had was well cooked, however the sea food my husband had was not very good. It was over cooked and minimal in quantity in the whole dish. We visited again with friends shortly after and the pizzas were poor.

Have been here before for afternoon tea and it was lovely, this was given to us as a gift.. Went with my husband for cup of tea/cup of coffee and decided to have a piece of cake each. Total was £16, my husband was horrified. I had the smallest cup of coffee ever, a chocolate brownie, my husband a breakfast tea and a slice of lime and coconut cake. The cakes were £5.95 each, way too expensive, they tasted alright but absolutely nothing special. Service was ok, not too hard to bring a tray of drinks and cake but there were no pleasantries. We were very disappointed and will not be back

I cannot praise this establishment enough, this evening we have had the most delicious meal prepared especially for me by the wonderful Chef Chris , who couldn't have been more helpful. He prepared my food from scratch after seeing the scant list of foods I can eat without causing my allergies to flare. Massive thank you to him and the lovely owner of no. 12, Kelly.

The best meal out I've had in a long time, great food, great service and a Chef that went out of his way to prepare a one-off meal for my Wife, who has numerous food allergies. A+++

Open all day, you can enjoy wonderful coffee and cakes, light lunch, or dinner hear. A quite versatile place catering for all needs with friendly staff and excellent food.

Always enjoy Harland place weather its ladys who lunch or dinner with the hubby or cocktails with the girls this place never dissapoints Matty and his team work exstreamly hard.

Having dined elsewhere in the village No 12 is the obvious destination for desert, the cakes never disappoint with an excellent choice and relaxed atmosphere.

Fuimos a no 12 para el café y la tarta, tienen un "menú de tarta"! Con algo para todos, incluyendo especialidades de temporada, como cheesecake de Navidad. Un ambiente muy relajado, estuvimos unas horas y no me sentí presionado a salir de ella, café muy bueno, aunque las tazas podría ser más grande, aunque. Tomamos té después de lavar la tarta y una gran olla fue traído con pequeñas tazas. La decoración de este lugar es increíble! Sin duda, volveremos!
