We booked here for lunch with our 3 year old son. I found the whole experience exemplary. The food was amazing, drinks were superb, but I would like to highlight the lady who served us. She was excellent with my son and very engaging. Whilst we dined she also had to deal with a stupidly petty complaint by a customer, which I would have got angry about, but she was calm and handled it superbly. This place is really worth a visit.

My favourite Thai café. I've reviewed it before but it continues to be excellent and is worth a repeated review. What is good about the café is - in no particular order - the staff, the price and the food. There's no dish that isn't worth recommending, but my favourite is pad kraprow. Try it with beef, and if you're brave, ask for it 'Thai hot'. It's not a restaurant where you can sit comfortably for hours, but it is a place where friendly staff will supply you with an excellent meal for under a tenner. There's no better recommendation than that.

Having travelled down from Derbyshire with just the cards on my phone wallet and looking forward to my occasional Thai treat, disappointed to find that this place now takes cash only. All very well pointing people to a cash machine, but if they don't have their bank cards with them, this is not of much use.

One Thai is my favourite cafe/restaurant in Ware. I have eaten here a hundred times or more, with friends, colleagues, and family. The place is quite small and it can get hot inside on a sunny day. When it's full up (usually in the evening), service can sometimes be a little slow. Most times, though, service is exemplary. These are tiny faults compared to the virtues of One Thai, which is the quality of the food, the helpfulness of the friendly staff, and the amazing price for such good food. The food is always of a high standard, with beautiful sauces and as much or as little spice as you like. Portions are generous. So far I've eaten every dish on the lunchtime menu, always with chicken or beef, and never had a bad meal. Before I had the Pad Thai, I was not a fan of noodles. Now I highly recommend the dish. The dinner menu is even more lavish and cannot be beaten on price.

We have always enjoyed eating at the restaurant as the food is usually excellent. As it was our wedding anniversary, we chose to go to One Thai to celebrate. The service was good, as it usually is, and, initially, the food was good. After our shared starter, I had Pad Thai and my wife had massaman curry with a shared dish of mixed Thai vegetables. Towards the end of the meal, my wife scooped up a spoonful of vegetables, and on top of the spoonful was a large fly that looked as if it had been cooked in the dish! The waitress took the cost of the vegetable dish off the bill, but the chef asked to see the fly, as if he didn’t believe us! Luckily I had almost finished my meal, because I didn’t feel like eating any more after that. We have been eating at the restaurant for years, but this experience has made us think again about going back.

Our visit to Thai Cafe was a culinary triumph. The Duck Ma Kam delighted our taste buds with its tender duck and sensational Ma Kam sauce. The Pad Thai impressed with its harmonious blend of noodles and sweet and tangy Tamarind sauce. The staff was very friendly and attentative. Overall outstanding!

This was my first time here and I would not go back. We could hear microwaves going off however this was clearly for heating up meals. food came out boiling in some places, cold to touch in others when we bit into the chicken. noodles were also cold. We sent it back, staff said they will cook it again. This came back out absolutely boiling, again on top, cold underneath! We didn't bother return again and instead found a hair in the sauce and understandably were put off. We went elsewhere for desserts. If you want freshly cooked food, avoid this place.

We have used No1 Thai since it has been in Ware, but not anymore. We ordered takeaway, shocked how much the price had increased from last order almost £15 , usually very high standard of food, but this time less meat and more vegetables in all dishes. Will not use again.

We went with the mixed starter which was really tasty and left me wanting more! Unfortunately the mains were less desirable. We both had massaman curry’s with rice. It tastes as if everything was cooked separate the thrown together right at the end lacking in fluent flavour. We could also here the microwave just behind our heads going right before our meal was served which may answer the flaws. I know microwaves are used in most kitchens but they are also normally out the back with the customer none the wiser. Sadly I shall not be returning.

This is a small Thai restaurant next door to Tesco. Unless you look for it, you can just walk straight past. We visited Saturday lunch time. Maybe because it was lunch time, there was only 1 girl serving. She was young, a bit inexperienced, rushed off her feet as it was quite busy but she managed well and was friendly. I visited the No.1 Thai Cafe with three others on the recommendation of my daughter who really knows Asian food, as indeed do I and my wife. We were not disappointed. The food was of very good quality, and excellently prepared. It was delicious, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Many Asian restaurants give too much food, and as you can’t eat it, it goes to waste. The No.1 Thai is different, and it was refreshing to have reasonably sized portions at a very reasonable price – less than one might expect to pay. The service was quite quick, despite the cafe being busy.

This is a lovely cosy restaurant, more of a cafe really in the heart of Ware. It is small and obviously well liked so always seems busy. The waitress is lovely, friendly, helpful, efficient. The food is excellent value. Good portions, freshly cooked, piping hot, arrived in time. There were some vegetarian options, and I had a vegetarian green curry. There was no tofu, so the protein was missing for me. It lacked flavour, which meant the meal was okay, but not more than that.I heard people on other tables raving about their (meat and fish) dishes and asking for the recipe, so I suspect that it was just the vegetarian food that was bland. Otherwise I would have given this an extra star.

We visited yesterday evening in spite of reading some very negative reviews. I was encouraged by the fact that my daughter really rates this restaurant and eats here regularly. She couldn't believe some of the things I had read… For what it's worth, we were shown to a table immediately, admittedly Monday evening not likely to be busy so the two sittings didn't seem to apply. The waitress was clearly Thai, clean in appearance and very welcoming. Admittedly the starter could have been bought in but that isn't unusual in many places, it was certainly hot and arrived quickly. Our mains were delicious and an adequate size and served on perfectly acceptable matching white crockery clean with no chips or damage. It was no trouble to pop next door to Tesco for a bottle of wine and I requested a bottle of still water which was promptly served. We had coffee afterwards which was very good and the entire experience was very pleasant. Agreed the ambiance is very cafe-like but that is what it is. Altogether an enjoyable no-frills experience with a small bill at the end. We were happy and would recommend to our friends. Not perhaps a special occasion establishment but great for an impulse meal out or a friendly get-together.

It's a while since we went to the no.1 Thai and whilst the style of the food has changed a little it is as good as ever.we went with friends and the Penang and massaman were really good and everything was nice.Remember this is 'bring your own' booze and that results in a modest bill, in our case £66 for two courses for six of us.Thus this is not only good food but outstanding value. It's just worth noting that the kitchen is very small and if there are a number in the party not everybody might get served at exactly the same time but that's a minor point.

Have eaten here so many times in past 10 years and it was great. First time back for a year with group of friends and the service was awful. One friend was given wrong meal - it took 15 minutes to change it. This time they bought the wrong meal again. They noticed they had given her meal to one of the other members of our group - who had started to eat it. Instead of cooking another meal - They just took the plate off her, fork and all and gave it to my friend! Unbelievable. It took ages for food, and we had all finished eating whilst one member of the group was still waiting for their meal. It eventually arrived at 8.15pm an hour after we finished starters. At 8.25pm, the waitress just picked the plate up whilst my friend was taking a fork full and said we had to go - our time was finished. They proceeded to put the meal in a take away container and told her she had to take it and finish outside or at home! They then gave us a bill which included this meal and the one that had been started by someone else. There is two sittings at this place - the second being at 8.30pm, but if they cannot get the food to you in time to earth by then, they cannot just remove your food, give you a take away bag and tell you to leave. Absolutely disgusted by this service and sadly won't go back - will go to the Sala Thai down the road instead.

My wife had the red curry, I had the green curry and we shared a chicken pad Thai together with rice. The green curry was full of flavour and hot, my wife said her red curry was excellent, so good I did not get a taster. The pad Thai was a good typical pad Thai nearly as good as in Thailand. My friend had raved about his place for ages, and the fact that you take your own booze ! So we went with her one night and well, I really don't see what all the fuss was about ! All cramped in on uncomfortable seating and Small portions of food which wasn't anything special - can honestly say it was like being in someone's front room ! Won't be going avaon

I eat here with a friend every couple of months or so and the food is tasty and served quickly which is excellent for a lunchtime meal. The last few times the service has not been so good. The waitresses more interested in talking to their colleagues than serving their customers. It is slightly inconvenience not having a drinks licence but they are good enough to provide glasses if we bring in our own drinks. I did however think the lunch - prawn noodles, was a little stingy - just 3 prawns even though he prawn dishes are charged at a higher price than the other meat and vegetable dishes.

This is the second visit to No 1 and just as good as last time. First rate food and great service. Together with byo drinks makes for a great night out. Good atmosphere on a Friday night. We'll be back.

In fairness it is under new ownership during the past week or so. The food was very good although I noticed that the prices were much higher then I remember. What disappointed me was firstly the place was very cold and my husband actually lost the blood to his fingers. The plates were not commercial and many of them were chipped. I asked for my plate to be replaced as it isn't hygienic as it can harbour germs and is actually illegal so I hope they replace them before health and safety pay them the inevitable visit. The serving dishes were also badly chipped. Although we realise they don't serve alcohol it would have been nice if we had been offered a soft drink. Fortunately my friend had a bottle of tonic water so I drank that.

I regularly eat at No.1 and am yet to be disappointed with the food. They have recently raised the price of one of my favorite dishes; the taramind duck but at £8.50 it's still cheaper than you will get any where else. In a group of 4 we usually share several starters, a few mains and a phad thai and rice, the bill is always between £12-£20 a person depending how glutenous we feel that day. If you can't finish it they are happy to wrap it up for you. You can take your own drink in there (they do have soft drinks) keeping the bill down as well. It is a very small restaurant so booking in advance is advisable (I sometimes can't get book a table a week in advance for a weekday). The food is always brought out fast and if you decide you want to order more halfway through your meal it's not a problem. If you sit at the back of the restaurant you can even see the staff fervently working away in the kitchen. It can sometimes get a little cramped at their busiest times, meaning you need to shuffle your table a bit. The overall ambiance, freshness and quality of the food more than make up for that. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion (accept for larger groups as you will have trouble fitting everyone in): weekday catch ups, intimate dinners, Birthday celebrations or a cheeky spontaneous treat.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly and attentive staff. Food was absolutely outstanding. Strongly recommend booking a table, as it can be crowded at some times. Take your own wine or beer. You can buy this at Tesco's next door!

For authentic and delicious Thai don't go here. Visit Old Siam in Hertford or Khunnai Thai. You will spend 1/2 quid more per course but it will be worth it!

This place is really special in many ways. The food is really cheap but such high quality which is not something we're used to in England!I regularly visit with friends or just my partner and I and the food is just delicious. I love the eagle wings and the pad Thai dishes, the ambience is nice too. The selection is limited but I like that because you know they are experts at what they do cook. No thrills just honest good food in a nice setting.

We popped in here for lunch last week and were underwhelmed by the food sadly. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but I don't know why places don't up their offerings slightly, more authenticity really makes all the difference. My panang was very creamy but somewhat tasteless and my wife's pork with basil leaves and chilli tasted much fresher and more authentic but was slightly let down by the quality of the meat.We will try it again one evening, the phone rang for reservations a few times in the short time we were there so it must be popular. I just think that these days with travel we know how dishes should really taste and expect more.

Being vegetarian I was pleased to see that they had veggie options on the menu. The starter was deep fried bean curd (Tofu). As soon as I bit into it the oil came pouring out, it was awful. The chili sauce seemed like it was just out of a regular bottle, nothing special. Then it was green curry, average. The sticky rice was served in a plastic bag and in a basket, its all too messy. The beer I ordered was warm. The restaurant did not have my reservation although I had called through 3 days earlier and the service was OK but food and drinks served so fast you felt like you were being rushed out the door. The whole place is a bit dated for me and could do with a face lift. On the plus side, my friend loved her sliced duck and said it was to die for. I guess that's why we were in there.

Very disappointed portions were very small for the price paid. Would not order from here again as very expensive.
