Best sushi I've had yet in Glasgow, and the chicken gyōza is amazing.

Came across this Japanese restaurant by chance on my visit to Glasgow. Had yakimono with tuna and spicy sauce. The tuna was fried just right. The food overall was absolutely delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Also great ambience. I would come back at any time.

45 minutes to receive our bill while other tables got served much faster!!!!!!!

Absolutely incredible food! Amazing service! You MUST book in advance, it's very popular (and for good reason!) We were seated within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday after the rugby Came back one year later with the same group of friends, and once again they did not disappoint! Ive been thinking about eating here ever since last year, and I can't wait to come back next year again!

We went last night and this place has went downhill. Waiting staff were not attentive (manager a little more so but still not good enough), with one waitress particularly looking like it was all a chore. Chilli squid started very good, but wish i sent back the tempura - it was not light and looked more like a battered sausage from the chippy - suspect it was twice cooked. DO NOT ORDER! Sashimi was very good; however the service lets this place down, and the lack of standards before releasing food (really annoyed I didn't send back that tempura). The service charge is pointed out, and I think the servers take this for granted and don't try very hard. Like previous reviews we asked for 2 mins to finalise our order and despite the place being a third of capacity, it took 20 mins for the waitress to come back. I won't be back, this place needs to change. Overall for the money, I would not recommend.

We went here for a team lunch today without a booking. There were nine of us and they accommodated us at the one table (until a tenth turned up and we had to split tables but we totally understood) which I thought was great at such short notice. They do a £15.95 lunch deal which many of us took up, 2 courses, and I chose starter and main. The food was lovely as always and the server was friendly and attentive. It's the second time I've been here and always enjoyed it.

Great location. Lovely high ceilings and columns. Think it’s a little cool because of the size but well worth a visit. The menu is extensive. We had the wok pan fried noodles and the temaki. Both were excellent. We then had mango mocci and green tea to finish.

absolutely stunning ramen with a rich and umami broth, just the right amount of spice, and a lovely bouncy noodle. the sushi was impeccable, flavourful, and fresh.

Collected after work to eat on the go on train. Was ideal. Collection really easy. And food still hot after waiting on train arriving. Would recommend!

First time going to Nippon Kitchen and will definitely be back! Food, Staff and Atmosphere were all phenomenal! The servers were very attentive and lovely while serving you, the food itself was amazing, although i have to say my favourite items we had were the Crab Karage and the Chicken Gyoza, but all items were great regardless. The restaurant itself was spotless and the decoration is very nice and relaxed yet still feels quality. All in all, would definitely recommend giving this place a shot :)

We had a lot of difficulty getting the dishes explained to us, not due to the language barrier but because the waitress didn't seem to know much about what she was offering. We asked which spaghetti was suitable for children and he suggested the curry noodles, despite my doubts he insisted that it was enough to ask to remove the chilli pepper, obviously they were very spicy. We had been offered a half portion for the child and instead we ended up paying for it in full, and to be honest the curry noodles were extremely overcooked that they broke when you pulled them up, immersed in a heavy curry sauce that doesn't even sound Japanese. semblance. A bit of fusion is fine, but this was in dubious taste. Even the sushi and sashimi had a bland taste, very unsatisfactory. You can see that the place was once beautiful, with high-quality stucco and wood paneling, but now it has lost its charm and is very dark and a little shabby. We felt like we were spending too much for the quality offered

Great experience, great food and the Sake’s House Flight is a must.

Really good selection of food. Everything we ordered was very tasty and portions were good. Service was fine but could have been more attentive. We spent quite a while waiting for anyone to take our order and saw people coming in and having to stand at the entrance while staff ignored them for several minutes. Not sure if we went on a bad day. Will definitely consider going again to sample more of the menu.

Service was not engaging and the servers whilst not unpleasant, seemed to lack any interest in their job and no interaction with customers. One exception was the server who greeted and sat us, he was engaging and helpful. To say service was poor is harsh they just were not happy. This would stop me coming again as this was a birthday treat, which was a flat experience.

As polite as friendly the servers were the service was abysmal!!!! It took forever for someone to take our order…even longer to bring one of our drinks…our starters did arrive 25 mins after our drinks….after an hour of waiting for our mains I managed to get hold of someone (who very politely told me a party of 17 had arrived) the mains arrived…I’d just managed to take a photo of the food when someone rushed over and apologised and explained that this food wasn’t ours 😳. When our food eventually arrived mine was cold…called someone over again said they’d get it sorted…apologised that I hadn’t had my soup or sushi ;or water that I’d asked for an hour ago)….had my soup and sushi….bento box arrived (really poor taste….yes I know it was probably the first one just heated up) 😓. Overall all…disappointed…won’t be rushing back (and they had the cheek to add on the service charge!!!!)

Food is really disapointed. Meat are too dry. Raman is not even raman and taste like instant noodles. Tuna is bitter. Chicken karaga is the driest chicken I ever had. Surely there are better japanense food just next door. Probably best part is the Asahi beer I had becasue it does not require them to cook!

This place was lovely. They accepted us for lunch without a reservation. The food was delicious and I loved the chopsticks. My son was happy that there was an option to use a fork. We will definitely be back.

Sushi had fallen apart all over the box with the sauce smeared everywhere and two rolls didn’t even have the fish inside. Received no response or refund after flagging this up

For the little gastronomic variety that you will find in Scotland, it is one more alternative. Personally "neither fu nor fa" the food. Calling him Japanese is audacious. The place, yes, very cool and the person with just the right kindness. Without further ado. They know that they still have it full. In Scotland, any cuisine other than hamburgers, nachos, pasta, pizza and fish and chips is considered a delicatessen.

We found this Japanese restaurant through Google and visited it. We were warmly welcomed and seated. The service in general is super friendly and we laughed a lot. The food was hot, not of course super tasty for Scotland, and the drinks were also good. So we decided to eat here again today and were not disappointed again. If you want to eat delicious Asian food, you're in great hands here.

Good quality, decent value for money, some things better than others Went here with a group of friends and had a jolly good time. Food was all prepared well, nothing exceptionally good, but all very decent. I had the miso soup to start, standard issue miso soup, what else can you say, 7/10 I shared the prawn tempura with two others. They were pretty good, but not terribly fresh. The sauce was nice though 6/10 For main course I had ramen with spicy soup and duck. It was very tasty, and the portion really filled me up. Didn't each much for the rest of the day, in fact! The soup was tasty, but didn't have the creamy bone broth quality to it that could have kicked it up a notch. 7/10 Variously, the rest of the table ordered, soft shell crab sushi, pretty good, but the crab had gone a bit soggy in the rice, flavour was so-so, 7/10 takoyaki, a little greasy, too much dough and not enough actual. octopus, 6/10 bento box, good vairety of flavours 8/10 chicken karage, 8.5/10 veg tempura, 5/10 Overall, food was good, but there's certainly better japanese food to be had. Service was OK, but a little slow. Also didn't appreciate the mandatory-but-not-mandatory service charge they snuck straight on to the bill.

Decent food but better in the restaurant. I order through deliveroo quite often. The packing needs to improve, every single time I order something that has a broth, at least 30% spills out. Usually the cups of broth are wrapped in cling film, but today I ordered and the cup wasn’t wrapped so everything spilled out… really disappointing after waiting for the food for almost 1h. The quality of the food I think also dropped a bit in the last couple of years..

We got a takeaway and although the quality of the sushi was good, the portion size was beyond laughable. For the price it was ridiculous. And worst of it was they didn’t supply any soy sauce, ginger etc and no chop sticks so sushi was dry. For two people it was almost £60 and we were still hungry.

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. The food was excellent. It exudes a very Japanese vibe, even with little touches like the classic sliding doors upstairs near the toilets. All in all, a very pleasant visit to the restaurant. We'd love to come back for the next international match!! PS: Scottish football fans are by far the best

It was nice inside, if a tiny bit dimly lit. Food was amazing, great options to choose from all made deliciously. Unfortunately our server was not the best we have ever had but they didn't do anything awful and rectified any mistakes immediately for us which was great. Only complaint I had was that there was a 10% gratuity added to our bill without anyone asking our permission. We were a party of 2, not a large group so it was unexpected. We would have tipped the 10% anyway but the fact we weren't asked or warned first made me uncomfortable. I'm sure I could have asked to remove it if I really wanted to but not everyone has the balls to say "take this off my bill". Feels a bit too pushy of the ownership of the place to be honest.

Such a lovely place to eat. Stephanie our server was extremely attentive. We wanted something different tonight. We never eaten eel, which was suggested and WOW, what a treat.

Very good curry. I really enjoyed the dish. They also have some Japanese drinks like melon soda which I personally love. The garnish vegetables are also delicious.

An interesting Japanese restaurant which is really popular and could always find people waiting for tables. Food was great, and surprisingly they put duck into Japanese Ramen. Really tasty and duck was so well cooked, just a great experience in trying Duck Ramen. Also we found the spicy Ramen tastes like south east Asian style rather than Japanese style, sour and spicy? Hmmm, still a great experience in trying that. A nice restaurant that is highly recommended if you fancy noodles in hot soup. One thing I didn't really get it that staff was pushing starter and drink so seriously and urgently. It's not that often we are having that much when only want to enjoy a bowl of Ramen.

Don't come here if you expect authentic Japanese food! Ordered teriyaki chicken and sushi platter as main dishes, both were awful. We waited more than 30 mins, rice was half cold and the chicken was like oven food. I suggest the chef to check teriyaki chicken on YouTube because pouring teriyaki sauce on cold battered chicken chunks doesn't make it teriyaki chicken. It's ok if you want to be creative, but the problem is the taste. Some of the sushi looked like vomit, they seriously need to improve food presentation. Only vegetable tempura and chicken dumplings were up to standard. At the end of the meal, waitress asked us how was everything, told her it was average then she just walked away. Why bother to ask if you don't want honest feedback?

Food is great but the delivery bag used is absolutely terrible and has ripped and spilt food every time we have ordered delivery.

I've been here a number of times now, over 8 years or so, I usually get the same thing being Chicken gyoza and the Chicken curry udon. I've always had great food here and have taken my family and friends here too who also enjoy it. I really enjoy the atmosphere and setting inside, it feels a little classier than other Japanese/noodle bars where you have to share a bench because here you will get your own table. Staff are really friendly and attentive. I would say absolutely book ahead in advance for a table, even on a random weekday evening always book to avoid disappointment (this is from experience)

Unfortunately it wasn't good. Prawn tempura was rather battered prawns, sushi rice was overcooked. Far from authentic Japanese.Very expensive for what is it.

This place is very fast and efficient with great food, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry, it was great and my wife ordered the chilli chicken noodles stir fry. Although it can be quite expensive and i do recommend booking in advance

Used to come here a lot years ago, recently returned to the country and it's a complete mess. The food was dry and flavourless. Despite being so empty, the servers weren't present at all. We had to get up and go to fetch someone twice. Then, would you believe it, they had the cheek to charge £4 as a service charge! They labeled it as 'gratitude charge' which I imagine is an ironic joke they came up with. Nippon Kitchen? Nippy Kitchen more like. Get a grip lads

My husband and I had lunch here today and the food is fantastic as usual. I think they have the best shar han fried rice ever. I always have it.

Nice food and big portion. Tried curry chicken katsu and chicken cha han it tastes great. Just that the green tea is watered down.

Was very displeased as I was told it would be here by 6:10 and it did not arrive until 7:40. The soup was cold by the time I got it and half of the prawns were off and did not taste right.

I had the chicken donburi and it was absolutely delicious. Very generous portion and I was given loads of pickled ginger too. Will absolutely be ordering again!

My dreams were broken, as soon I came back to recover my food. The girl said the manager had thrown it away because he thought we weren't coming back... I left out thinking on the flavour of that delicious rice and the tempura vegetables which I left on purpose to finished it at home. I came back home with my heart broken. Anyway, the food and the service was really good. I d come back.

Just had birthday meal here food was amazing, sushi was lovely tasted fresh and salmon-y. I had the katsu as a main and sauce was perfectly balanced crispy katsu chicken and perfect sticky rice Service was excellent just the right amount of attention but not too much cannot falter Would recommend this place

Consistently superb. Chicken cha han or ha chan (cant remember) is awesome. Wife loves the sweet chilli chicken noodles as well. A pure staple of Glasgow at this point.

My friends and I waited a long time for our dishes. The sushi was falling apart and tasted bad. I don't recommend eating sushi here.

I’m very disappointed. This is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Glasgow but I don’t think I’ll come back. The rice was very cold (it should be room temp for sushi) and had a ton of tough grains, so it wasn’t cooked properly. It felt like they took the rice out of the cooker too soon and stuck it in the fridge to cool. It was super chewy and tough and their nigiri had too much rice for the thin amount of fish on top. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat half my plate. I tried because I thought it was maybe just the pieces I ate. It wasn’t. I felt bad as this place usually has great food. I have anxiety and I was trying to find a way to mention it so I told the waiter it at the end but I guess I shouldn’t have worked up the courage and troubled myself since it felt like it didn’t matter as the waiter just looked at me and said “ok”, nodded and told me to tap my card at the top of the machine to pay. No care given at all and the restaurant had 3 tables. I would understand if the place was mobbed and she had no time. I thought that maybe she would at least try to speak to me about my concerns. And on top of this, a gratuity that’s automatically added to the bill that the waiter didn’t even bother to offer to take off. By this point, I was too anxious and a bit annoyed to ask for it to be removed, I just wanted to leave. Terrible experience.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant given the popularity and amount of good reviews it had. Unfortunately, I can’t say my experience is the same. They put way too much sauce in their noodles which made it tastes really disgusting.

Food was very good, really interesting, authentic oriental cuisine. Service was really slow though they weren't busy and they started clearing the dishes before we had even finished.

The ginger prawn noodles were really good, but the dinning experience was not great for the prices. We got brought the wrong dishes twice, the price mark-up on the gyozas was excessive, and it just felt like we were forgotten at our table several times. It's cool that they removed the automatic service charge on the bill when we asked, but it should not be there in the first place.

Been to Nippon kitchen for lunch today food was lovely Asked for the bill and on the bill stated almost £10 gratuity which is a tip for all the staff. when I asked the member of staff she said to me it was a service charge then it should state service charge on the receipt not gratuity. The member of staff stated the tip goes to all the staff. I am always very generous with leaving a tip where ever I go. For Nippon Kitchen to charge me and other customers for a certain amount of tip is a cheek without the customer even knowing or agreeing to it am sure a lot of people don’t check the receipt as I don’t always check mine just look at the total and pay for it. This should always been up to the customer to decide what they want to leave as a tip. Just to add it to the bill is out of order. What if I didn’t have the extra money to pay for the gratuity. And. Just had enough for. The meal I did decide not to pay for it and the member of staff removed it from my bill not happy about this at all

Food delicious staff friendly and great service cant fault it

The tables are too close to the wall it's uncomfortable. Also too close to each other, makes it difficult to have a private conversation with friends or family as it's too loud. The service took forever. Very slow service. The sushi was of low grade and did not seem fresh. Charged a pound for a bit of mayo on the side. Won't be back.

Worst sushi ever. Dirty place at a table with a view into the filthy work area for food prep. Watched staff catch something crawling on floor. Server didn't know what they were serving us. Owners response was what I expected. Ask you staff what they captured of the floor in the handicapped toilet on the main floor and took away in a cup. We were seated at a table with a great view. Check your footage again

We had an early evening dinner here and were quite disappointed. Initially the staff were very prompt and helpful and out starters of sushi arrived very fresh and very quickly. The mains arrived promptly too but were not really that nice. The Salmon in the Donburi was overcooked and dry and the Duck in the Cha Han was mostly poorly cooked fat. Neither was particularly enjoyable sadly. As we finished our mains, the restaurant busied up and staff were much less attentive due to pressure of service. We had to wait nearly an hour for coffee and the bill, which was disappointing. We'll not rush back here

So bad, I recommend you don't go here as had a terrible experience. I think this place will close because the service I got was so terrible its undescribable.

I can't understand the high star ratings. We had chicken ramen. The broth was the best part. The chicken was dry and tough, there were no vegetables with it, the egg was absolutely unappetizing. Definitely the worst ramen I've eaten on many trips so far. But the service was good. The atmosphere could be made a little nicer.

Found this place off a quick google search Was perfect for what we were looking for, quiet ambience with plentiful space and seating. Most importantly amazing sushi and reasonably priced Definitely recommend!!

Incredible hospitality for a large group. 8 of us were promptly seated and the menu explained. Staff talked through their recommendations and answered any questions. Food was excellent I ordered the bento box.

A very warm welcome the moment we walked in, very nice server. He was very attentive and refilled our tea when he noticed it was low without waving him down. We both ordered the duck ramen, one spicy. On the menu it lets you know that the duck is battered, which is fine. However, I think I'd prefer it not to be battered as it's in a soup and it gets soggy. The bottom of the duck had a gooey/jelly texture (4th pic). Nevertheless the flavour was great and the portion was big (a lot of meat). The spicy soup kind of reminded me of tom yum soup. Nice bowl of hearty warm soup noodle, perfect for a rainy cold day.

Excellent food and service... I arrived late in service on a mid-week evening, so it was quiet, but very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Outstanding place, food was insane, staff were absolutely fabulous. Party of 6 with an autistic/adhd 7 year old and they couldn't have catered to our needs anymore if they tried! My daughters birthday lunch was just bloody great! So much so we're planning a trip back so others who weren't there can experience the brilliance :D

Great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. I started with salmon sushi set and was very impressed. Fresh and delicious. Salmon nigiri stood out for me. My main was a chicken bento,The portions are generous and was not expecting so much. Every aspect of the meal was great. Finished with banana tempura which was phenomenal. Service was very fast. All dishes came out quickly and at the same time considering I was with a large group.

First time visiting and first time eating Japanese, and I loved it. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was outstanding, particularly in love with the King Prawn Tempura 🍤 Can't wait to come back for another visit to try more dishes, thank you!

To be fair it was a Monday night however, as always, the food was superb. A brilliant waitress (sorry didn't catch her name) was a perfect delight, attentive and helpful around my guests allergies. Nippon is a must do treat every time I visit Glasgow and never disappoints. If you like Saki and a taste of Japan, can not recommend a better place to be
