Hands down the best Japanese food in Glasgow. Never fails to impress.

Everything was delicious. Miso soup to warm up, pumpkin Katsu and vegetable Teriyaki are delicious! Large portions, very good price!

Lovely place that was an impulse to pop into. So glad we did as the food and staff were excellent. Will definitely be back.

I have been going to ichiban for a long time. It is pretty good for the price. The beef/chicken udon noodles are worth getting.

We wanted a late lunch and found ichiban based on reviews. The restaurant was fitted out really nicely, well thought out and lovely decorations. Staff were friendly ,and efficient. The lunch menu was priced okay but dinner would have been quite pricey for what it is. Ordered the chilli chicken ramen and it was unfortunately quite disappointing. The broth tasted really bland like a basic chicken powder stock. The agedashi tofu was okay but was also a bit bland

I came here as a last-minute choice as a place i once loved when I worked in the city centre. I chose the lunch menu for a quick bite to eat while out of Christmas. Chicken Yakisoba main was edible, but it was really lacking in flavour, just noodles and a few bits of chicken with noodles that tasted like they had pulled out chicken broth and covered in oil. My dining partner had katsu chicken, and yes, I know it's a mild curry, but again, it was lacking in any kid of flavour like garlic or ginger. Could have had better from popular chain in St Enoch. I will say one thing that has never changed the staff are still really welcoming and friendly. Maybe it was just a bad day food wise, or they need to charge a little more and add a little more flavour to the dishes. As it stands, there are much better alternative independent eateries to choose locally.

A lovely little Japanese restaurant. Took some colleagues here when visiting Glasgow this week. We ordered a lot! Half the team are vegetarian/vegan and they were spoilt for choice. All food was hot and fresh. The donburi was good as was the sushi. Think the donburi could’ve done with some vegetables, but still tasted delicious. Portions are large and good value. Will be coming here again!

Nice Japanese restaurant with friendly staff and decent food. The prices are a little bit pricey but okay; the food wasn’t all that bad too. The rice was slightly under average but could be better. The sushi was pretty nice though and for £4 plus, is a decent deal.

Ramen was tasteless, some of veg in it still frozen. Dip with tempura was like discoloured water.

The reviews looked good so we decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, the food was really below standard. We ordered three portions of ramen, all of which were extremely bland and flavorless (practically warm water) and the chicken was very dry. Also ordered a curry which was better, but nothing special. The lunch deal is at a great price point, but sadly we were not too impressed with the food, so it wasn’t really worth it. Perhaps the sushi is better. Service was really great though, and restaurant space is nice.

Well travelled in Asia, spent time in Japan, eat a lot of Asian food here (my wife is Asian) so might be spoiled. However no excuse to serve food with no flavour what so ever. This is a nice simple layout, bench tables, seats, perfect for food type. Staff friendly, welcoming and service efficient. Always the chance we picked the 4 tasteless things on menu but unlikely. Really no more to say, avoid, lots of other choices of venue in Glasgow. Temaki at Central station if you're happy to squeeze in.

The food here was very well priced considering the portions are large. I got the pork and prawn chahan and several sides, although it was tasty it lacked a bit of seasoning which they don't provide on the tables. Service left a bit to be desired too.

Food was incredible. Had the salmon udon soup. Service was quick. And staff was knowledgeable about nearby places to recommend for drinks. Will absolutely come back.

Staff were friendly and accommodating to my kids. The food came out fast and tasted fresh. The lunch deal is great value too! I’ve been here a few times and it is usually a first choice when we visit Glasgow, I’m glad it has been around for a long time now.

We ordered food thru Uber eats. Never received it. A picture was sent. It was left outside. No where near our hotel. We called, but they refused to resend our order, refund or anything. They expected us to go hunting for out food. What kind of service is this. We do not recommend this place.

Really good Japanese place for vegetarians or otherwise. Ordered the veggie bento box and Japanese curry rice and loved both items. Enjoyed it and staff was nice and polite.

High quality food, good atmosphere

Been there 2 times for dinner during my stay in Glasgow, first time without reservation and the second with on. Very clean space, with a nice staff and, of course, the food was delicious (tried the chicken yakisoba and the chicken udon). Don't hesitate if you're solo, even if the tables are share, it still fell intimate and nice.

The food is terrible, we ordered the ichiban udon, a beef maki bento and a vegetable tempura, the udon is the worse, the soup is lack of flavour, the texture of the udon is bad, the chicken is burnt. For the beef bento, the beef is overcooked

Been my favourite and go to Japanese place in Glasgow, however it has fell off a wee bit since 2022. Can’t get enough of the oyakodon tho!

Used to be alright food there. Recently had some donburi bowls. Was pretty bad. Bulked up with onions. Got my partner's order wrong twice :/

Katsu chicken was very dry and rice was also dry. Service wasn't great either

Trying a Japanese restaurant heavily influenced by British culture was definitely an interesting experience, curry was in a lot of dishes! The chicken was perfectly cooked with a nice smoky flavor, but I was a bit surprised to see it in my "ramen" 😅. Unfortunately, the ramen was missing some classic elements like Narutomaki, egg, and pork, so it felt more like a soup than real ramen (take a look at the photo). The chicken was still great, but overall, I think I’ll stick with more traditional Japanese restaurants.

What a find, Son found it tbf. Amazing dining experience, great, great food, and plenty of it. If you're in Glasgow, make sure you check this place out. Lady even tried to show me how to use chopsticks. Had king prawn Chilli Noodles that were to die for. I will be going back when I return.

You eat at long tables, the service is fast and the food is good, the only thing is that it closes very early, I think at 9 or 10 p.m.

My absolute favourite place! The best noodle bar I have been to, with a lovely team of people. I’ve tried most of the menu & can honestly say I have loved everything.

Just do yourselves a favour and just go. You will not be disappointed.

Great spot. Stopped in based on a quick search near my hotel in Glasgow. Food was so good. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was super clean. Got the Kaisen Bento Box and some sushi. Price was decent too.

Honestly, this is not an eclipse. It's close to Chinese food by a Chinese chef. The atmosphere is clean and the service is good. However, the food is Chinese food with a lot of oil. If you are expecting plain Japanese food, you will be disappointed. Half of the curry is oil.

Had food here last night with my husband. The server went above and beyond to accommodate my very specific requests, even making additional suggestions and swapping out things for me when i ordered a bento box. My husband had the donburi and everything was delicious!

We dropped in to the street level cafe here for lunch. Binged a bit on 2 mixed boards of sushi. It was lovely. Nice food, friendly helpful service. Nice surroundings.

Cozy ambiance for solo diners. The staff is friendly to customise as per dietary needs. The indoor is very welcoming and warm. However, the portion size can be fixed to meet the price.

Ordered ichiban udon soup, which is tasteless. The noodles are overcooked with no texture to comment on. The chicken steak is almost burnt and therefore too bitter to eat. The broth is extremely flavourless and watery.

interior quite pretty and staff nice but generally the food is average if not sub-par. I had a small plate of inari sushi (sushi rice wrapped in a thin layer of seasoned tofu) which was pretty good. I also had a pork katsu curry which was sub-par as the sauce was quite bland and did not contain any pieces of potato, onions or carrots (typical of a Japanese curry) so it's just pork, bland sauce and rice. as these are the only items I had I can't comment on the rest of the menu which may be amazing but from my experience ichiban isn't グラスゴーで 一番美味しいレストランです. so maybe pick someone else for a lunch or dinner.

This is a gem of a place. The food is fresh and tasty and the staff are really friendly and welcoming. Portion sizes are great if you're really hungry - I took some home to enjoy later as I couldn't finish it all first time round. We'll certainly be back.

I live in Australia but have to visit anytime I'm back in Scotland, it the best Ramen i have ever tasted...chilli chicken ramen and gyuniku maki is out of this world. the atmosphere has never disappointed any any of their locations and staff are always helpfull. Ichiban i miss you...!!!

This is, quite simply, my favourite food place in the world. Across all categories. The food is....wow. I am yet to try something I don't adore. The service is also brilliant. Friendly, attentive, fast as well. I'm yet to wait more than 10 minutes before our food is out. The atmosphere of Ichiban is lovely; warm, inviting, simple, classy really. If you like Japanese food at all, you NEED to be here. Oh yeah did I mention the food? ITS UNBELIEVABLE

The noodles tasted okay, the vegetable rich dish not so much. Unfortunately overall we didn't enjoy our meal. The prices are reasonable though and the location is central which is great.

Food overall was nice, however, we were all served food at different times, to the extent we had to ask for my sons partners dish on multiple occasions and they were still served when most of us where finished, my dish wasn't supposed to have beansprouts and when the dish was changed over I had 4 small pieces of steak, so a 1/3 of what was in the bowl originally and what had been returned to the kitchen! Not up to its usual standard according to my sons, this was my first visit, I was a quite disappointed 😔

Glasgow is the second to the last stop on our 21 day grand tour of Scotland. After lots of various kinds of food, we were itching for some Japanese fare. Ichiban was exactly the right ticket! It was an easy half mile walk from where we are staying and even though it was nearly 9, when we walked home, we never felt unsafe. That said, there are some homeless folks in the area, but it was not a big deal to us. The restaurant is upstairs and is set out with long communal tables, but with separated benches for each group. There weren’t a lot of people when we arrived on a Monday night so seating was no issue. The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. Everything in the restaurant was squeaky, clean and beautiful. The menu has quite a few choices as you will see in the pictures posted. Prices were very reasonable. We started with the vegetable tempura, which was cooked to perfection and served within just a few minutes. We followed up with two bowls of soup. My wife chose the Ichiban with Ramen noodles and broth. I selected the seafood with soba noodles and the kimchi broth. Both were excellent super flavorful and had an abundant amount of ingredients. Neither of us could finish our bowl. If you’re looking for outstanding Japanese food, this is a solid choice!

I’ve visited here so many times and always made to feel welcome. The food is excellent - fresh, tasty and always good. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. Can’t recommend highly enough.

This place is GREAT. Me and my friend went for lunch at the ground floor take away area and my first impression was that this place was clean. Once we were seated we ordered 2 twelve peice sushi platters, 1 six peice fried prawn sushi, 4 pieces of prawn tempura and 2 bottles of mogu mogu. For only £39.00. The staff are great and they brought me and my friends food in 10 minutes. Personally I think this place is great and would definitely come again and suggest to friends.

Not happy, took 1 hr 15 for the food to arrive, it was freezing I had to reheat it, poor value for money I got a katsu but there was only 4 tiny cuts of chicken, less than half of the amount compared to when I order katsu elsewhere. No veg included as advertised. I will not be ordering from here again.

I've been an ichiban customer for years but my last experience was less than good. The restaurant messed up our orders twice, forgot one of the meals that came delayed and demanded that we pay the "optional" service charge that had automatically been added to our bill despite the bad service. Disappointed, and would not recommend anymore.

The worst sushi restaurant I have been to. The rice in the sushi wasn't tasty at all. It was like eating plain rice. You cannot combine the sushi, you can only order like 6 pieces of maki cucumber, and so on. Not very big choice of sushi either. It was very cold in the restaurant even they had the big heating behind us but never turned it on. The sushi in Lidl is more delicious than in this restaurant.

This is a great spot for a traditional Japanese meal! The sushi and Ramen is of the finest quality and are the perfect duo for a long day. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. One thing that stuck out to me, was that the tables and seats were so close together. This gives less privacy and space between others eating at the restaurant. The waiters/waitresses were extremely patient and kind and offered top notch service for the business. Would recommend if willing to pay the price.

Good spot for luch or dinner. Nice service and tasty food. Place is clean and very comfortable to it in. Place offers dine-in, as well as take out. I'd call this place a 'quick lunch spot' or a japanese cuisine 'fast food'. The time between placing an order to recieving our dish was quite impressive (around 7minutes for 3 dishes, coming blazing hot). I had to notice that even tho it was tasty and portions were big, it lacked high quality ingredients. It was just a good quality products well balanced with each other. I was bit sad that place didn't offer any japanese sodas, but that doesn't matter that much. I liked Sapporo bear a lot - 600ml of cool beer is awsome. I reccomend booking a spot, since the place gets quite busy in a lunch / dinner hours. In general - tasty food, nice service and cool interior. Prices relevant to both portions and quality My choices were: Sliced Beef Udon, Ichiban Yakisoba, Sake Maki, as well as Sapporo and Lemonade to drink. Paid around 40£

Arrived on a very busy lunchtime but managed to get a seat. They have a great lunch set menu with good options. Food was quick to be served and very tasty. Staff helpful and friendly. I would recommend to book in advance.

Great food at a very reasonable price, all served in a stylish and modern building by lovely staff. I've had a few items off their menu, but my recommendation has to go to the gyūdon (it is to die for). Don't sleep on their ice cream, either (yuzu is my favourite, but they're all good). Service is fast, to boot. Highly recommend to anyone looking for good Japanese food in Glasgow.

I came as a solo traveller and absolutely loved all about this restaurant! They were very accomodating for a single person like me and i got an awsome seat at the window fro. Where I was able to observe the buzzing live on the street. I am no expert in Japanese food but the ichiban-Ramen I ordered was delicious! Service was flawless and it is obvious that this is a well loved place judging from the constant stream of new customers that turned up! (If you don't want to wait it might be smart to book a table in advance)

First time at Ichiban, and definitely not the last. Had a lovely time, in a great atmosphere with really friendly and fast service. Highly recommend the bento boxes 🍱 i think i have discovered a new favourite place!
