Mamasan in Glasgow City

We came for a quick lunch last Saturday and the food and service was exceptional. All the food came in good time and the bartender was happy to create a great special cocktail for us. Our server luke was exceptional and made us feel like we were dining at a friends house!

Incredible food and amazing service too! The food was really spectacular and they went all out for my partners birthday too. Oscar our server was absolutely brilliant! Would recommend to anyone and we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend the drunken noodles!

Having been here before and had an absolutely fabulous meal, we were keen to return. The new menu concept I was unsure of, however Connor explained everything, made some recommendations which were absolutely wonderful. We loved chatting away and dishes arriving when they were ready. My husband loved both beef dishes, I loved the prawns and the chicken dish. Drinks were great, one non alcoholic drink which was really refreshing. Connor was so friendly and we remembered him from our previous visit, he is such an asset to the place. Warm, friendly and great recommendations.

Bit of a mixed bag tbh. Got there, ordered drinks and food then promptly got evacuated as the fire alarm went off. Bitter cold outside but only had to wait 10/15 mins so back to it. We were cold though and & have to say any booth alongside the facing window on Ingram St got an icy blast every time the door opened. There was a curtain protecting those to the right as you walk in but those on the left had to grin and bear it. It's a nice place although they lit a large incense stick thing at the bar - no idea why? - but we had to ask them twice to move it as it was wafting all over us as our booth was at the bar. The food itself was very good. I initially thought the small plates were really small but the richness of the food made it for it and we were quite full. The Service was initially good but after our mains we had to eventually ask for a menu for desserts at the bar then further had to ask where the dessert was some 30 mins later after ordering. They did waive the charge for the dessert as a result but at £130 for 2 of us I would expect better table service tbh as we felt somewhat abandoned despite several waiting staff continually mullig about the bar. Could do better...

Absolutely fabulous experience . The food and cocktails were superb and tasted amazing . The service was superb and the staff all went above and beyond . Thank you to the chefs , bar staff and front of house for making this a truly lovely afternoon .

Visited with wife and daughter. Right away I knew it was going to be a good experience when we were greeted. The staff was great and really started the experience off right. Food was awesome and drinks were super interesting. Wanted to go back but ran out of time on vacation.

Food was brilliant however service charge added without even asking how much we would want to tip or if we were willing to tip Food was really high standard and worth the price portions were quite large overall dining experience was good bit slow however and the cocktails were just a bit too over powering. I don’t mind tipping at food places however to automatically add 12.5% without asking is a bit rude usually in most restaurants they ask if you want to tip when you pay with card but in this place they seem to add it on without asking which can put people in a awkward situation if they don’t want to say they don’t want to pay the charge. But would go again for the food that was the reason for 4 starts the automatic service charge amount.

The service and food was second to none! The quality of the food, customer service and overall ambience of the restaurant totally made the price worth it! An absolutely great experience, amazing food and choice, and service tailored to every and any need! Absolutely recommended to everyone and anyone! Thanks to the mamasan team.

Mamasan is a big favourite of mine and my family. My partner and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at mamasan and we couldn’t ask for better. Service and food were phenomenal. Connor and Luke were both so friendly and welcoming and we were both gifted a glass of fizz to celebrate. Thank guys!

My family visited this restaurant for the first time in late February, on arrival we were greeted with a lovely friendly waiter who was more than helpful. After telling him we had never been before and had no idea what to order he went through the menu and recommended some food he thought would be good for us. He got it spot on the food was amazing and the staff were excellent especially Connor the Irish man, I would definitely go back for more and would also recommend you give the place a try

Unfortunately, while the beef short-rib dish was good, the broccoli one my wife chose was very disappointing. Comically so. 1/2 a head if broccoli for £17. Topped off by the waitress advising it was quite saucy/soupy and jasmine rice with it would be advised (it’s not). She claimed confusion on which dish she was asked about, but the beef curry isn’t soupy either and we’d already ordered a rice with that dish. The music was oppressive, service disappointing, limited and a strict menu (my wife originally asked for the Pad Kra Pao with rice, but was refused). And the adding of a 12.5% service charge automatically for 2 people dining is an abomination. Whether optional or not. Such a shame as the venue looks great, the chicken satay was tasty (but over priced for one skewer of chicken) and the beef short rib was a nice dish.

The food and service were fantastic. Unfortunately they add a discretionary 12% service charge. The lovely serving staff insisted this was optional but it’s still an imposition. We would’ve tipped anyway but this new tendency to include a tip on the bill will not go down well with diners in the U.K. It’s such a shame because we had a lovely experience and all really enjoyed our food.

First time at Mamasan with a friend for our 40th’s. Very warm, professional and friendly welcome from Connor who made it the nicest dining experience. The service from all the staff was amazing. Restaurant is just beautiful. The food was five star and presented so well. Excellent menu. Absolutely delicious and one of the nicest cocktails I’ve had. Highly recommend.

We were looking forward to trying out Mamasan, however overall felt disappointed by the experience. It may have been an off night, however service was slow (staff were great but it felt understaffed as the restaurant was not particularly busy and far from full but service was patchy/slow). The overall service from the kitchen was far too slow, we were 1.5 hours in and still awaited our mains. We really wanted to enjoy the experience but left feeling underwhelmed and wouldn’t return or recommend on basis of our experience. There are far better options in Glasgow and in a competitive environment the management need to buck up their ideas or this venue will struggle in our opinion.

This is a really cool bar brasserie. I was there at lunchtime recently which is why it got on 3 stars for atmosphere...I was the only guest for most of the service. I'm sure it gets really busy at night and would recommend booking in advance. Overall it was a great lunch with attentive staff and excellent food & drinks. It's Asia meets Scotland ..who'd have said that 20 years ago 🤔 but it works. The vibe is cool and I noticed a DJ booth high above the entrance so would expect cool vinyl vibes on a weekend. I enjoyed a pork belly dish with rice. It was a huge portion which I couldn't eat but I managed a space for a cocktail 🍹. Definitely plan to return next time I'm looking for a dinner reservation.

Popped in for a cocktail. Cocktail prices approx £12 each. Surprised that a service charge was added to the bill for one round of drinks. We would have left a tip but surely that’s our choice. Pushes the price per cocktail up. And cocktails were ok, not amazing.

Inarguably the best Thai food spot in Glasgow. Stunning interiors. Extremely friendly staff. Connor was an absolute delight. I'll definitely be back here again. Customer for life.

If you're in Glasgow and want good Asian fusion, try bar soba. The food is better quality than here and MUCH cheaper. Service took a VERY long time. Waiters were very nice but when you're waiting 20-30 minutes for your drinks and even longer for your crackers it's not good. The place seemed understaffed. Our initial table placement was admittedly rather strange too - we were placed claustrophobically between two tables when there were plenty of other better options. Thankfully the waiter allowed us to move to an empty booth. The music was too loud and it did not match the upper-end restaurant feel of the furniture etc. If the food had not been on offer we would have been vastly overpaying. Meals that have a lot of details, like 'hay-smoked chicken' do indeed sound nuanced and fancy, but the actual taste was sub-par. We were left unimpressed.

A lovely place overall with beautiful interior. My friends and I had a wonderful time. I didn’t like the chicken satay sauce which was my main as it had a strong peanut flavour and the waiter brought me extra rice to eat. Eveything was good except my main but it was an overall enjoyable experience.

The interior was gorgeous. The service was exceptional and I cannot fault it. Although the food needed an acquired taste at times, the chicken and sea bass were very tasty.

Very poor - average food and overpriced for what it was. There was a stag do in the restaurant who were very noisy and at points they were chanting like football fans. Not what you expect Saturday night. There are so many better places nearby

The whole experience was excellent, from the waiting staff [Connor?, who was amazing!] to the food, to the ambiance of the restaurant. Absolutely superb, and we can’t wait to return!!!!

Oysters gave me the worst food poisoning I have experienced. Do not eat the oysters. Portion sizes are very small for the price. Monkfish curry was extremely salty and had to be replaced

I was visiting with my friends for a birthday party. Being a foodie myself I don't get a lot of fine dining experiences so I was putting high hopes into this one. I'd say food was definitely great, but there was something missing, some oomph that would make any of the dishes I tried stand out. Now I wish I went for the more asian based ones instead as I heard people really enjoyed their Thai inspired dishes. Trout starter was a slight let down. There just want anything that special about it. Roasted duck was superb, I enjoyed the confit layered parsnip. I also wished for a more exciting deserts menu. I think this place is great for cocktail lovers thought as all cocktails our table had were superb (yet very very pricey)

Was here Saturday the 23rd of December after reading a few reviews I was a bit concerned as I'd booked for a group of 8 .It was amazing the food and service was first class ,always polite incredibly efficient and tasty food.

Cocktails were top notch as was the food. First time dining in Mamasan but it certainly won't be the last. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to elevate their night out.

Fairly dreadful food and tiny portions . Just had a pre Xmas lunch here . A complete waste of time ! At least they had beer.

I had booked to take my daughter for lunch, when we arrived we were told the menu I had booked for was unavailable and we were offered 2 choices of main course, neither was suitable, we then left, I then discovered they had taken £40 from my bank classing me as a no show!!! Dreadful experience which ruined a nice pre Christmas Day out!

Three courses, salt and chilli chicken, green Thai curry and poached pear. 🍐 services was excellent. The decor is fresh and modern and the food was aromatic and delish. Portions small size but great for a lunch. Will defo be back

Lovely atmosphere and drinks were so good. It’s one of those places you walk by and it’s sucks you in because it’s that beautiful.

Really not worth the cost. Food was ok but nothing spectacular. Also had the smallest oysters I've ever seen and when pointing this out to the waiter he said "must be the season". Feels like style over substance, there's much better Asian food in other places in Glasgow.

Had a lovely meal at Mamasan. We were running a bit late for our booking and the staff were very helpful. The atmosphere was great and the kitchen was very accommodating when I asked if the food could be made vegan. I had the Thai Green Curry and I would thoroughly recommend. Danny - our waiter - was great, super friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely go back.

Express review: I was recommended this place by a friend, so I thought I would try the brunch menu offer. We were immediately welcomed by a server who offered us a number of seating options. He explained their main menu as well as the brunch menu. We ordered two sets from the brunch menu, accompanied by some drinks. The service was impeccable, and the server was very attentive to our needs. This place is all about quality, and when it comes to quality, it's on point. The food is perfectly cooked and balanced, and it's presented in a modern fusion style. The only downside is that you're left wanting more. If this menu is a reflection of the food in this place, then I'm eager to explore more options on my next visit to the city.

Went for my anniversary with my girlfriend. Food was incredible and service was even better! Danny and Connor were fantastic, very welcoming.

Another great night in Mamasan. Food, service, atmosphere were all excellent. The only thing stopping this from being a five star review is that our waiter tempted us to try an additional starter for free, but it ended up on the bill. I'm sure this was unintentional. We were in a hurry to catch a train and didn't check the bill until later.

We came here for dinner based on some recommendations and couldn’t have been happier! Delicious food with a great range, beautiful atmosphere and the customer service was top. Danny and Conor were so welcoming and made the experience so wonderful. Will definitely be returning!

I have decided to treat my mum to a luxury dining experience so I took her here as I was fascinated by the large bar. The service was fantastic! Nikoleta showed us to our table via the lift that was available for my mum who struggles to walk upstairs, extremely handy and inclusive for disabilities and wheelchair users. Oscar was an amazing server and the service provided by this man is beyond incredible. Attentive, caring, friendly and willing to help at any time!! We had scallops and salt and chilli squid for starters, luxury pad thai and surf&turf Singaporean noodles for mains and the chocolate & coconut cremeux for desserts. The starters and desserts were small but the mains were large enough to fill you up to explode! We also had the spicy thai nuts which were a really nice snack to munch on while you're socialising. I must say, I did pay £44 for a bottle of wine and the music was loud but everything was absolutely worth it! I would like to thank Nikoleta, Oscar and Harry for the wonderful service we have received and how incredibly helpful and friendly everybody was :)) Will definitely be back!

This place is great! The food is delicious with a range of prices but probably best for an occasion. Staff were very friendly and provided great service. The venue is lovely with an impressive bar. The one minor thing would be I wish they had wider dessert options but I would definitely come back!

We stumble on Mamasan in Glasgow while mooching about, the staff were very attentive and on the ball! We had Whiskey and gingers and they were delightful. The decor is so good and the only thing that takes away from the experience is the scaffolding outside the front, which takes away from the street in general. But would recommend Mamasan for a few pre night out drinks!

Really nice environment, great helpful staff. The bar menu is big, with some really nice sounding cocktails- but I was driving. Food, interesting Asian fusion menus usually fail (when you’ve eaten in Asia you know the difference). But, the food here was very good. The Thai fried chicken as a starter needs to be an option as a main - it’s probably the best I’ve had in Scotland. The squid was prepared properly (rarely happens in UK) and was perfectly cooked and tender. The main course pork belly was good, and adding in the veg and the pineapple worked really well. In summary, the dishes are well thought and well prepared. It’s a little in the pricey side, but that’s life and a lot better value than nearby premium restaurants.

We had dinner here last night, Saturday 02 Sept. Greeted at the front door by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our table. We were served by Oscar who was very attentive and had good knowledge of the menu, he also saved the day as I was stuck with 3 options for my man and he pointed me in the direction of the beef curry .... which was fantastic. Overall the food was amazing and very tasty, great spot for a dinner before heading out, staff were friendly and our server Oscar was very good Would recommend to others and also go back 👌

On first impressions this place looks beautiful and on a Saturday night, very busy! Despite this the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were seated upstairs which had a lovely view of the ceiling decorations. Only drawback was being right beside the restrooms and staff waiting area. Atmosphere is quite loud with music so if you're hard of hearing it's not the best. The food was fantastic! Full of flavour and good portion sizes. Our server Oscar was top class. He helped us with dish recommendations, as this was our first time visiting, and was very attentive throughout the night, despite being busy! We ordered a glass of red wine, and rather than Oscar just coming back to the table, with the disappointing news, he went out his way to ask the bar staff for an alternative recommendation first. Great service!

Real cosy place to have dinner. The service by Oscar and Luke was wonderfull. Good cocktails, very good food. We had the menu with trout, Thai chicken, chicken satay and pad Thai and it was all delicious!

noodles with the shrimps were sweet; maybe the chef has exchanged sugar for salt. music terrible and much too noisy! Asked 3 times to lower the volume; answer: it's saturday night. Who's the paying client in this restaurant? Would have taken a sweet, digestive and coffee, but we decided to leave.

It was a nice place but toilets are upstairs and you have to fight to get by the tables which are in your way and people talking at top of the stairs. Also didnt like the fact a service charge was added on even though we were only in for drinks and sat right in front of the bar.

Lovely lunchtime menu, food was lovely, could have been a wee bit more hotter in heat, but all in all very good food.

We were very disappointed with Mamasan. Food was fine but there were several problems and at the end felt forced to pay more than 10% service charge with no option not to. We were seated at a small table against the kitchen wall, which was noisy, far too cramped and in sight of a bin. There should not have been a table there and the restaurant was not even completely full. We did ask to move but this request was forgotten about. We were also not given a drinks menu until our order was taken and items not available on the menu (such as lobster). Staff were nice but not worth the price given these issues and wouldn't recommend.

Food was generally very good only down side was the chicken in the satay dish was a disappointing thighs. Expected breast would be used.

2023/06 Nice food with good service.

Oscar and Skye were so lovely and sweet. Food was nice, portions were on the smaller side but lovely. Food did take a bit to come once ordered but service was 10/10!

My partner and I have dined here multiple times over the last 3 years. We continue to come back due to the amazing quality of food and drinks served. Tonight was our 3 year anniversary and the floor manager Connor could not have made this evening more special for us. Extremely knowledgeable of the menus, excellent attention to detail with our requests and an attitude towards his work that made us so comfortable - an absolute credit to the restaurant. Thanks so much to the rest of the team too for making our night so special. We shall of course be back soon. Matt & Fi x

Silver fox manager is an absolute ride

I went here for my birthday dinner and the ambience was so cool. I loved the food but I must say its a bit pricey. However its very good for the money

I went here with a friend for her birthday dinner and we absolutely enjoyed ourselves. Firstly we were not able to make reservations cos it requires putting your card and i didn’t want to do that😒 On getting there, we were sat by the door which wasn’t bad cos we didn’t reserve and upstairs was full- it was a Friday night. Ambience was cool and the staff was really pleasant especially Connor. I wouldn’t recommend going here for a romantic date as it’s pretty noisy but it makes do for a girls night out or hangout.

The food served to us by the excellent Luke and Conner was as beautiful tasting as it was in appearance. Special thanks go to the wonderful Finlay who mixed the juciest and most incredible looking cocktails we have ever had. All of that for a very fair price.

Very disapointed , would not recommend, over priced and extremely small portions the food was OK, nothing special , the staff lacked manners and service, the floor had obviously been washed with a dirty mop and it was not looking at its best stood for 5 mins waiting to be seated ,even though they weren't busy ,if I hadn't pre purchased a voucher I would of walked out ,and staff were not attentive at all all with glum faces and no work enthusiasm at all ,would not return and they had a cheek to add service charge , I ordered steak was not asked how I would like it cooked and never had such a boring overpriced cocktail in my life , much nicer restaurants nearby ,I'd give this a miss

I had a fantastic experience at Mamasan Bar in Glasgow, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the energetic atmosphere and stunning decor. But what really made my experience at Mamasan Bar stand out was the incredible service provided by the staff. In particular, I had the pleasure of interacting with the manager, Connor, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. He went out of his way to make sure that I had a great time, and his enthusiasm and passion for the bar were infectious. One of the highlights of my night at Mamasan Bar was trying the Old Fashioned cocktail. I had heard that it was one of their specialties, and it did not disappoint. The drink was expertly crafted and bursting with flavour, and it quickly became one of my favourites. But the Old Fashioned was just the beginning of the fantastic drinks on offer at Mamasan Bar. The cocktail menu was extensive, with a wide variety of options to suit any taste. The bartender was skilled and knowledgeable, and he was were more than happy to make recommendations based on my preferences. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Mamasan Bar, and I would definitely go back again. The atmosphere was vibrant, the drinks were delicious, and the service was outstanding. And if you're looking for a recommendation, I would definitely suggest trying the Old Fashioned – it's not to be missed!
