Where to begin? We ordered food from Nipa Hut Filipino and Chinese Restaurant online, after delivery time being changed twice, we waited an hour and 20 minutes for food to arrive. We ordered an Egg Fried Rice, Large Chips, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Chow Mein, 2 pieces of Fried Chicken, Prawn Crackers and a can of Coke. Straight away we could see that a pot of curry sauce had leaked, the lid had come off and covered everything else that was in the bag. (Photo is after we had cleaned up). The Egg Fried Rice was the only thing we could eat. The Chips (can't really call them that) were cold hard burnt bits absolutely swimming in grease, we could not eat them. The Pork dishes, which were bland, contained literally just fat and skin with pig hairs still attached! (See photos) There were 2 hard bits which were rock solid, once piece was unrecognisable and looked old, upon closer inspection one was actually a lump of gristle and/or possibly bone? Totally off putting. The Fried Chicken had possibly be refried several times as very hard, and hardly any meat on them. We really couldn't believe that a restaurant had actually sent this out for delivery. I called to advise that the food was inedible and we were told to just get a refund via Just Eat. We took a few photos to show the Just Eat customer service advisor but I wish I had taken more, as just viewing these photos cannot comprehend how awful this food really was. Haven't eaten here previously and will never order from here again.

We were so impressed with our lunch here! We had some advice on what we’d enjoy as we had never had Filipino food before, but we were so glad we did! It’s just a shame we were too full for dessert. But then again that means we should go again!

Visited Nipa hut with a group of friends. Staff were excellent, friendly and very accomodating. Food was fantastic, we had the buffet and several dishes from the menu which came in large portions cooked fresh to order. Highly recommended

The food are all nice. They offer the best crispy pata! We also tried their beef cardereta, lomi and the famous Filipino cold dessert which is halo halo. However, we’ve been disappointed twice by this place as they close even during normal time and day without updating their facebook and google site so I suggest for those interested to call first and check if they’re open. The place can be a bit busy and when it is, prepare to wait a bit to be served as it is a family run restaurant and they do not have enough staff. Overall: I recommend their food.

We would normally have walked by this place as from outside it is nothing. But we were desperate for something to eat apart from the junk food places that the centre of Newport only seems to offer So we went in, to a lovely welcome from Gerry who explained the small buffet that was on for Sunday Lunch My husband ask if there were any vegetables as there seemed to be none, but while we were filling our plates a bowlful appeared from the kitchen. the soup was to die for , the chicken and pork was well cooked, (didn't like the beef) Afterwards Gerry and his wife came an spoke with us about how they had come to be here. It was the first time we had tried Filipino food and we are both in our 70,s it was a lovely surprise. If we lived there we would make it a regular haunt. It was value for money

My first time visiting a Filipino restaurant and the waitress helpfully explained the dishes on offer. We ordered some Filipino dishes as we wanted to try something new. Our food was freshly cooked to order and tasty. Quite different from the Chinese food you typically get in UK restaurants. The restaurant was pleasantly air-conditioned...always nice on a hot day. I would definitely eat here again if I am in Newport...great to see this independent restaurant serving unique food among so many chain restaurants in this city.

My wife and I visited Nipa Hut in Newport for an evening meal with our friends. We were treated to a great welcome by the staff and chef who is the owner. The food is superb quality, a real taste of the phillipines at a really affordable price. It was great to try so many different types of phillipino food and I have to say that everything we tried was excellent. We will definitely return to try the rest of the menu !! Definitely worth a visit.

Oh wow just stopped for a coffee, such good service with a smile and great conversation too, thanks for the guidance, we are on our way to Cardiff. Lovely coffee and wishing you well in your business. Continue doing what you are doing as you certainly made our day for our first stop in Wales. X
