Sadly gone downhill in the last 6 months or so. The chips used to taste really fresh and the staff were always friendly. But recently unless you go during busy periods, the chips aren’t fresh at all. Quite soggy in fact, cooked in what tastes like over used oil. At times the staff are wearing really dirty uniform. I went a couple of days ago and found a long blond hair on my chips. It doesn’t appear to be as busy as before, maybe others are getting put off too.

We've ordered from here many times, but not for a while. Unfortunately this time we had undercooked sausage, undercooked chips, and the portion of Cod was more like a portion of Minnow. Not impressed at all

Mike's provided us with 23 portions of fish and chips and delivered it to where we were meeting. The food was delicious and hot! Excellent customer service, highly recommend.

We have been using this chip shop for many years, all the way back to when it was Nicks. The quality of the food, the service and everything all is fab. I have to say being local I am very proud to support the business and proud of their achievements. All in all a top chippy !

Quality fish - cooked to order - lovely crisp batter - friendly staff - whats’s not to like ? We’ve used Mike’s since it opened changing our allegiance from another local fish and chip shop. Mike knows how to cook fish and doesn’t make the fatal mistake of some of over cooking it. Delicious.

This is our local chippy. We love it ! The service is excellent. You are greeted with a cheery welcome. The staff are efficient too. The food is fantastic. MSc sustainable fish expertly cooked with a light crispy batter and the chips are tasty without being greasy. What’s not to like?! Pea fritters, battered sausage and the pies are also excellent. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Can’t believe this company is up for an award for their offerings! We ordered a delivery based on reviews, must have been from friends and family unfortunately. The fish was meaty, but flavourless, tasted old, batter was soggy on the bottom, shattered on the top....

Ordered via Uber eatsOptions were Cod or large haddock. or kids Cod and chips Plumped for Cod, chips and a pea fritterIn total £13.When we opened the small box, inside was the equivalent to 11/2 jumbo fish fingesr. when I rang Mike's and spoke to a lady explaining my surprise iwas told to contact ubereats for a refund.I suggested it was their mistake but again advised if I wanted to buy another and then claim it back off Ubereats.After much discussion about customer service and a gesture of good will they decided to cook another.I took the small piece of fish back only to be told that is actually a normal standard size and not a child's portion which is a lot smaller.I would suggest that Mike looks at his competetors and understand good value for the price.Would I recommend buying from Mike's NO! Go to Vick's just up the road. Far superior and value for money.

I went to school with Mike and his wife so when I heard they had a store in Bishopstoke I had to try it to support. I was not dissapointed. Really really good value, excellent portions, the stuffing balls were out of this world. Effective communication whilst waiting and adhering to covid-19 restrictions. The lady who took our order was calm and collected at a very busy time for them in the midst of a pandemic. They apologised for the wait but considering how many were waiting and it was all cooked fresh it was no wait at all. 10/10 guys well done x

For many years we have enjoyed having a top quality fish & chip shop in Bishopstoke. But after Nick,s sad passing a few years ago. It gradually slipped into decline. But ever since Mike took over. We are delighted to once again, be able to enjoy a high standard of tasty good quality fish & chips once again. There can never be any ifs or maybe days with our National favorite meal. It has to be spot on every time. And Mikes have certainly achieved that high standard from the word go. He also runs a very worthwhile loyalty scheme.

Had this Chip Shop recommended by a friend, it exceeded our expectations. The food is cooked to order, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The fish was cooked to perfection with crispy batter, the chips also superb. Warning though, the small chips is an understatement, ample portions and all reasonably priced. Our 1st visit, but don’t think it will be our last.

Went to visit after hearing they had been voted one of the top fish and chips shops in the country and to be honest, we were disappointed. The food was fine, but it was certainly nothing special - fish was average and the chips were a bit undercooked and soggy. The portion sizes were very good though. We might visit again if we were desperate for a takeaway but I would consider the fish and chips shops in the nearby towns of North Baddesley and Romsey to be superior to this.

Recently taken over and is amazing. Best fish and chips in the south. Nick's fish bar is spotless, clean tidy and this is also reflected in the food and staff since the take over. Most friendly staff, perfect food amazing service. WARNING THOUGH....Please don't expect to walk it and expect fish and chips straight away, every order is cooked to order piping hot and fresh. Crispy batter succulent fish the chips are amazing. My daughter loves the chicken nuggets best ever McDonald's don't stand a chance. Sausages are gorgeous and go very well with the best curry sauce I've ever tasted and mushy peas.

This was the best chip shop for miles around.It was taken over by new owners a few weeks ago and sadly the food is nowhere near as good as it was.I’ve tried it a couple of times since it changed hands and the fish and chips aren’t very good.The staff are friendly but on both visits the guy who appears to be in charge is wearing filthy overalls.I don’t mean a little bit of mess from that shift they looked disgusting like they hadn’t been washed in weeks.Not very impressive when you Are prepping and serving food.Sorry Guys,you’ve lost a customer who has used this chippy for decades.

My sister & me was looking at a house near by & found this little gem . The lad was so friendly who was cooking . Very polite & welcoming . Hard to find a decent chippy as we live in Eastleigh but we now have a new favourite. My sister had a steak pie that had just come out of oven & my fish was cooked to order . We sat in car & enjoyed every bit .

So after hearing the chip shop has changed hands We decided to try last night . We were so pleased , fish was fresh & chips were perfect non greasy. Large portion fed 5 of us .i had haddock my husband had cod was really good . Fish & chips is our favourite & were look forward to trying again soon .

Came in yesterday evening, on my way home from work and thought I’d try it out as had seen its recently changed hands. It was absolutely lovely. The staff were so welcoming, helpful & friendly. And the fish & chips we had were delicious! Will definitely be coming back again.

I used to visit Sonny at Fair Oak at least once a week and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I was diagnosed with coeliac disease & therefore no longer able to enjoy fish & chips for 3 years. Unfortunately the chips that I received yesterday were sub standard to the ones I received under the previous management. Unfortunately I know that this company has let sub standard chips be served in other stores within the company, as I have served them to customers served. I can only hope they improve. On a positive note the fish is as good as ever and remains the best in the area.

Usually visit nicks for a kebab however went in yesterday on my lunch break and was told they had changed their menu. Staff were very friendly and helped me to decide on cod, chips and mushy peas. Portion size for the chips was massive and crispy batter on the fish. Will definitely be returning. Massive thumbs up!

This used to be the most delicious fish and chip shop around. Originally under the first “Nick” and his family the food was amazeballs....it dipped under the second owner but excelled under the third owner. The new (fourth) owners staff are horrid and a bit racist - I asked if the sauces were the same as before (a fair question) and they said “no it was all way too Chineseey” and “now we’re doing proper chip shop sauces. I’m sorry by racist much!? I reserve judgement on the food, but the attitude stinks!!

I don't normally have chips but after moving my daughter into her new house stopped on our way home to chandlers Ford and the chips were amazing and plenty of them. They were cooked to perfection for me - light golden and soft. My battered sausage was good and my husbands fish looked amazing. Will definitely go again - beats any chip shop we have locally

Yo no he comido pescado y patatas fritas en un largo tiempo, pero decidimos caminar y recoger algo de comida en el camino a casa desde el trabajo. Realmente hizo mi día. El bateador pescado estaba fresco y con sabor. Las patatas fritas eran, por mucho, mi favorito - recién cortadas y solo fue una reminiscencia de mi infancia. Yo trato de no hacer un hábito de comer demasiado a menudo pero felizmente tienen Nicks semanal para mi cheat día.

Had family down for the weekend and decided to go to get fish and chips, still the best chippy in Eastleigh had gone down hill but new owners have done well to restore the quality, in fact the sausages and much better now, the staff are all lovely to deal with wouldn't go anywhere else.

This used to be a fabulous local chippy but since new ownership has really declined. Smaller portions of greasier fish and chips which are just not as enjoyable. Other chip shop in walking distance so use that one now.

We have been using Nicks for 30 years. Potions are always a good size and we have never had any complaints about the quality of the food. Service is always friendly.

This used to be one of the best fish & chips shops around the area,it was always packed,n used to serve brilliant fish n chips,it's been taking over by new people.its not as good don't know if they have changed the oil,in the fryers as there's a lot of grease,on the fish& chips ,I know from other people who have said the same,n have changed to another fish n chip shop.so I wouldn't recommend nicks,not anymore........
