We placed a very large order of 123 basket meals for a charity quiz night. The food was fantastic. It all went out hot and we heard so many lovely comments about the food and portion size. Thank you for your hard work and for being so accommodating. We really appreciated that you included delivery, cutlery, salt, vinegar and sauces.

I can eat for England but just had a large cod ,large being the right word it was delicious, well cooked to order, great polite staff, never had a bad meal from Sonny's but this was the best well done 👏

The food served here is lovely, however when I visited last the manager was ripping into staff in front if customers, delivery services seem to get priority leaving customers waiting for ages, atmosphere can be a little frosty

If you live locally you will know there are probably 3 good chip shops very close together. After visiting all 3 in the last couple of months. It is clear to see that Vic’s is head and shoulders above the rest. Outstanding quality., which does not drop even at the busiest of times, finally a large portion of chips that can feed a hungry family of 4, great service, fantastic value for money. Yes, I had to wait around 20 mins for my order, but I would wait that on every visit for the quality and service I have received. Excellent.

Have been using Sonnys for many years and have always been pleased with the service and the food. Whilst I understand that all costs have skyrocketed the chip portions have quite noticeably shrunk even more so since they are now served in a box. It's now even more noticeable now the cost of a large portion of chips has gone up to £5.30, not really enough for 2 people, and the latest serving was made up of many crispy bits and can only be described as warm. Disappointed hence the 3 stars.

Excellent cod, chips & pea fritter all cooked fresh with lovely batter. Warm & friendly staff provided excellent service.

We don't normally go to Sonny's but our usual fish and chip shop was shut, the staff here are absolutely lovely and so were our fish and chips. My son and I had cod and my husband had scampi, my mum had haddock - all delicious, freshly cook and tasty. We will be back.

Open Christmas Eve which was handy as most closed near me, quality food and service with a smile as always polite friendly girls serving and the cook was efficient would 100% recommend

The shop always looks very clean and well presented, the staff are always very polite and quick to take your order, The young girl that works a Thursday evening always greets us with a smile and a welcoming hello.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chip shop. We had our family takeaway meal this month and we choose sonny's fish and chips, this was by far the best shout. The curry sauce is to die for, chips are definitely the best around by far! And the fish was cooked to perfection! Very happy customers we will be returning SOON!

We don't often eat fish & chips because we like to be healthy but I was really looking forward to a treat. We had large chips with a battered sausage for myself and a piece of fish for my husband. I dont like reheated potatoes because they taste different but straight away we could tell this large portion had been reheated and were so dry that most went in the bin. I hate wasting food but they were inedible and cost £5.00 We know things are tough for businesses but also tough for your customers. This was a treat that went straight in the bin. Will never return as I can't afford to waste my money. Keep trading crap food and you won't have a business soon as customers are more critical now times are hard.

Used to love going to Sonny's for fish and chips but it has really declined recently. Rang to place order and the person answering the phone was very unhelpful. Picked up order. When got home one of the main items was missing. Rang to complain...

Food took 1.5hrs to be delivered...was soggy and cold!

Lovely cod and tasty chips, the pea fritter was a little bland but had a good texture. Pretty good value for money.

Always look forward to some fish and chips from Vic's Fish Bar. Just had some and I can say I am disappointed because the chips were dry not fresh not many, I and my wife couldn't eat all of them because of the dryness and not sure when the fish was cooked because that was tasteless.

Went here as a last minute dash as got in just before they were closing. Staff were a bit short and abrupt but the food was amazing, and they chucked in an extra sausage though as there were some left over so swings and roundabouts I suppose! Will be coming back!

Not my closest fish bar but well worth the few extra minutes great food, great service, a little pricy but everywhere seems to be at the moment

Great food, as always from this chip shop. This chip shop consistently provides food at high standards and at reasonable prices, it is our local chip shop of choice and would highly recommend.

Used to be really nice however, has gone downhill in the last 12 months. Unnecessarily long waiting times, even if only wanting chips and nothing else. Chips are now greasy whereas previously they were lovely. Gave them one more try tonight and regretted it. Chips have gone in the bin.

From arriving at the shop and the air tainted with poor cheap smelling oil, to staff dressed in dirty tops and not very professional, to uncooked chips that were gritty where they’d not been washed properly. Being local I’ve been coming here for years but...

Really nice food, but when it's busy they only do one order at a time, instead of getting rid of some of the small orders. A portion of chips can take 15 minutes.... so slow.

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. I threw most of the chips away, as they were mostly black. The fish was overcooked very greasy.

How this place won an award for best regional chip shop I'll never know. Went in for just a bag of chips, got the smallest 'large' bag of sub standard chips I've ever seen and it cost me a fiver! It would probably have fed...

This place has gone downhill recently. Prices have gone up and the excellent family deal (£16) is no more - that’s ok. That’s Inflation. But the problem is the quality has declined at the same time. The cod now has a skin and the fillets...

Friendly service and tasty lunchtime special

Sonny’s is the best chippy in the area! We had a fab evening tonight with our cubs on what we call a “chip hike” and we plan a walk to a local chippy and get some chips, eat and walk back again. Sonny’s were amazing...

Excellent food! We visit every Saturday lunchtime and the food is always great and staff happy and cheerful good size portions and the best curry sauce!

We've been coming here now for a few weeks in the week because they have senior fish and chips for £5.50, this is the cheapest anywhere. All freshly cooked while you wait. Absolutely lovely fish and a good portion of chips. Would highly recommend this place. The only thing, wished they opened at 11.30 am. The senior meal is enough for us two. Definitely going back

The fish and chips were absolutely awful, the fish was dry and over cooked and the chips were just a shrivelled cooked twice mess.I have pictures and videos of this mess unfortunately I can't add it to this review. Maybe it's not a good time to go in there after 8pm

Absolutely amazing Cod. The chips are not the greatest. I didn't really enjoy the hake. My daughter loves the chicken nuggets.

Ordered large cod and small chips £10.20 tasted like hake and chips at half price .won't go back ..the fish was small in size and tasted not good .

I purchased a magic bag from here, it was absolutely gorgeous .the fish was yummy and the curry sauce was to die for. Also lovely chips, sausage and pies, staff lovley and friendly ,great service and a cute fryer...what's not to love

Best battered sausage in the area - batter is lovely and crispy, recommend 1 1/2 per person. Great chips too. Small chips is plenty for 2 people. Shop is very clean and modern. Friendly staff and always popular, especially on Fridays.

Whell, this fish a chip shop has to be the best in the South, locally sourced fish and really good quality food, the chips aren't bad either, just to say I was speaking to another customer when I was there, she told me that she comes from wheymouth, there are loads of fish and chip shops there but on here commute to and from work, she always goes to vics chip bar she said it's much better then all those local to her. We’ve been using Sonny’s for years and it is quite simply the best Fish and Chip shop in the area. Everything is very well cooked, the portions are a good size and the staff are always very friendly and knowledgeable. There really is no reason to try anywhere else.

Wow! Change of ownership and what a difference. Have ordered twice recently and both times have eaten the lot......which we never do when ordering/eating fish and chips. Order was for some cod, chips, battered sausage, onion rings and mozzarella sticks to share between 3. Cod was lightly battered and had no grease in sight, sausage was similar, the chips were superb and the two sides an enjoyable accompaniment. Loved it!
