Nick's Chippy Whiston in Knowsley

Still using now fazed out polystyrene food containers ( thought they were bad ?) Young staff don't seem to be concentrating on thier jobs - I ordered, paid in cash, waited, girl had to be prompted by the boss to get my fish dinner ready then I was asked to pay again ! the old saying ' too many cooks' springs to mind - not sure if I'll return..... 🤔

I would just like to say my last review of Nick's was completely wrong and on my latest visit my food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and polite and I'm looking forward to my next visit

Chinese meals are decent quality, especially the sauces. It baffles me how a normal portion of fish and chips and curry is almost £12 which is almost £5 more than a Chinese meal. There are photos on Google that show that in 2022 the prices were £6.50 for a large fish and chips with curry sauce. Accounting for inflation this would be circa £7.50 today.

1st time trying nicks after all the other local chippys have gone downhill. I was pleasantly surprised . The sweet n sour was great . Just the same as ho' s in prescot. The chicken Szechuan was spicy and tasty. The ribs lovely and tender meat. With just the right amount of salt and pepper on. Chips and rice decent . Will be back hot and sour soup is spicy and sweet loads meats inside. Edit: tried again 4 months later. Noodles were full of grease , I like mine sort of dry. But they were covered in oil. Very sloppy Ribs were tender but had a weird sweet taste ,not your normal salt and pepper flavour. And it's only a small portion. Fried rice lacked depth it was barely off colour from boiled rice. Chicken wings coating was very crispy /crunchy had to snap most of the coating off. Not Impressed Edit :next day can still feel the rib meat in my stomach sloshing round and I am burping sulphur , my guess is the ribs where off ugh Never again going this chippy. Anyone else had a bad experiance here? Is there a new chef? Just spewed and pebbledashed the toilet. Edit on Oct 24 :maybe you had a temporary chef the second time mate but it wasn't the same as the first time which was lovely. This was about a year ago.

Come to get some chips to have my lunch and door lock at 12:15 on a Saturday. I wouldn't Normally do this but this is the 3 time I've try to get some food from here and it looks open but really not. What a joke.

Had the best sausage dinner ever,with Irish curry,only chippy I know that does this curry.the shop is immaculate and the staff r really helpful and polite

Iv just moved to the area and was looking for a good chippy when i came across this one , i orded quite a few things and all the food was remarkable the place was spotless and all the staff was lovely and very helpful , i will definitely be coming back again.

Ordered a donner burger. Meat looked pale as an uncooked Richmond sausage so asked if he would put the meat on the grill for me.... he said "NO"! Said to leave it then but he made it anyway. So I took the pile of dog meat on a barm an tried to eat it. Let's just say I'm starving still. Tried to eat the salad but it was crap too. ( cucumber you could use as a ramp to get underneath your car to work on the axle( Chips were OK an cooked more than the meat. ( offered a chip to stray dog an it licked it's bum to get the taste out of its mouth). Then you try to pass my review off as misplaced because I said hot plate instead of grill. I am on about the correct chippy. A few doors up from the gold star an you do "Irish curry".

Food was lovely and amazing staff special the younger 1 with ginger hair, all so friendly

I must of had the worst battered sausage in my life from here. We've given this place a few chances but it's fair to say we won't be returning

1st time I've ever been to this chippy, had some banter with the staff and they were great, if you're not from the area and your looking for a chippy then look no further I would definitely recommend this place 👍🏻

Good food, good staff even the customers are friendly. My favourite is curried chicken or salt and pepper chicken

Just ordered beef blackpepper extra hot it was absolutely gorgeous this is going to be my goto meal first time I've had this meal,staff are very helpful and caring too xx

Ordered Fish and chips, Steak pudding chips peas and gravy and a Donna kebab 👌 Oh and cant forget a botle of old school green cream soda! 😝 Lovely food we all enjoyed very much ❤️ thankyou.

The beef black pepper is amazing!

Visited the other night for fish and chips, And was very happy proper cod was being sold , Ordered cod and chips twice , The food portions were very very good and cooked to perfection and delicious to eat. The young lady who served me was very welcoming courteous and a credit to the owners business. The place was absolutely spotless. The staff were constantly cleaning surfaces in between serving customers and preparing meals. Will be visiting again very soon Highly recommend

Hands down best chippy around. Loved the fish cake and the salt and pepper kebab. What’s better is they deliver so I can enjoy a beer whilst waiting. Cheers keep it up

Bit disappointed really. They have a sign saying they can't keep the menu prices up to date with inflation, but then when you try and order they don't even do any of the advertised meal deals or sell things listed on the menu. I get the difficult times, but I feel a fairly up to date menu on the wall isn't too much to ask - if you stop selling something, cross it out, other places seem to manage something resembling a menu. They might as well put up someone else's menu for the difference it would make. The chips were really nice, they didn't sell the steak pudding on the menu now so I had a chicken pie - it was so hard and unpleasant and dry inside, definitely reheated from a previous day or else sat for 24 hours on the heater to have gone so rock hard, I couldn't cut it. My friend ordered a burger and despite the girl asking him if he wanted salad and sauce and him saying yes, he found no salad on the burger when he ate it, which I believed I'd paid for. The battered produce looked really nice but I'd not be rushing back in truth.

We love this chippy the food is gorgeous the staff are lovely although I placed my order at 4pm I was told I was second in line and the driver starts at 5pm it’s now 6:16pm 5 hungry kids later and still no food.

Got a delivery tonight and it was gorgeous, best beef mushroom I've had in a while and the girl on the phone was lovely, think her name was nikki, i will definitely be ordering again

First time we have used this chippy and it won't be the last, my husband had a English meal "pie dinner" I had sweet and sour prawn the sauce came separate so batter was light and crispy prawns Hugh and white.We both agreed it was the best takeaway we have had in years. It was also delivered hot and prompt. Definitely deserve 5 stars

There are two almost adjacent shops in Whiston - I have loyalties to neither. Popped into 'Nicks' for a donner. Price charged was different to what was advertised. Presentation poor, salad on top with dressing then at the bottom was the meat, which inevitably was dry as there was no dressing! Salad was basic and to be truthful did not look fresh in the display cabinet. Hope that helps to improve things.
