Newton Green Golf Club in Babergh

Our village over 60's society regularly eats out as a group, and its always difficult to find a place that can properly cope with 24 plus people, even with a limited choice pre-booked menu, where the food, service and atmosphere are all good. The golf course at Newton Green definitely hits the spot as the food is really really good and the atmosphere in the restaurant remarkably good; there are also lovely views over the greens. As a group we love it so much that this was our second visit in less than three months, and the venue is sure to be a fixture on our calendar. The venue would also be a great place for couples or small groups as well.

As a group of around 30 people, we often have difficulty finding appropriate venues for our large lunches;l pubs are often really cramped and the quality of the food can suffer with so many being served at one time, No such issues for our Christmas lunch at the club house though - there was plenty of room, the service was good and the food was the best we have yet experienced as a group - highly recommended.

I don't normally review places but I feel I must show my gratuity. Having never been to the club myself along with our heads of company, we had a excellent 18 holes, a lovely little course. Having played all over the country I was particularly appreciative of the welcome and knowledge the golf shop provided. I had an almost tailor made service when it came to purchasing several items of golfing gear. Out of many shops I've been in, despite a small club, this was certainly one of the best. Id like to thank the young man (Ed/Jed?) for his help. The rest of the club was well kept and generally a nice place to be. I feel the club house itself could do with updating to attract the next generation of players as the colour scheme isn't exactly gentle on the eye. All in all I recommend the course and once again thank the shop for my new set up!

Thank you to Ben and team who hosted us for a charity golf event - fantastic bacon rolls and coffee to start, and afterwards the traditional ham, egg & chips of a golfers meal. Portions could have been a little large for hungry golfers, but the quality was very good. On the golfing front, this course is a little gem and I would definitely recommend as a visitor or society - Ben and team hosted us really well, the course was in great nick and I would love to come back and play in the summer when it would really show its teeth

Brilliant 3 course dinner, good value wine and excellent service.J W Catering have recently taken over the catering services at Newton Green Golf Club. The quality and variety of the menus provided has improved significantly. The staff complete the overall dining experience. Your group will need to book in advance for dinner but lunches and breakfasts are generally available throughout the week.
