With glowing reviews a friend dropped off a takeaway beef curry; garlic naans, rotisserie chicken, rice and salad from NHS. The beef curry was well-spiced with a well-rounded depth and breadth of flavour. The garlic naans delighted me. Not had the chicken or rice yet but looked and smelled great.

Being a Type 2, I often have to go to the Ageing (!) Clinic on the old General Hospital site. Just up the road the whole Newcastle ambience changes to a little Casablanca; everywhere you look are strange signs, exotic cafes, men in long skirts and beards, beards, beards. In amongst this is The Newcastle Halal Superstore, which whilst being one of the best stocked purveyors of pulses, spices, rice, noodles, whole fish and everything eastern. It also boasts a monster butchery shop with things that look as tho' they come from prehistoric beasts. Well worth a perusal of different lifestyles to make one appreciate good old England.. However, on the left hand side is a small 2 booth café served over the counter by my new bestie. He doles out fantastic bread wrapped lamb and chicken kebabs from a vertical rotary grill. He also has a live BBQ for monster kebabs on a skewer. With a rotary chicken at £3.99, sharia rice, salads, hummus and all sorts of spicy wonders as sides. All served in takeaway containers but worthwhile nevertheless. The flat breads are baked in front of you and I can only describe the Garlic Bread as ( Americans and Radio 2 DJs say) AWESOME. Incorrect use if the word I know, but it is becoming bastardised. Not the most sophisticated of venues but much, much better than a Greggs sarnie. Since I found it late last month I have been 4 or 5 times!!!

The William IV on High street is a local pub in Gateshead that offer a decent range of beers and was one of several pubs that we visited on a day out around Gateshead. A solid old style boozer that is housed in a traditional pub style building'the interior is again a traditional pub interior with lots of good seating options and an outside area at the back with extra seating options. I don't know why but I adore going to pubs like this as it brings me back to when I first started drinking many years ago and most of the pubs I visited where like this. This pub was very busy when we visited as where most pubs we went to in Gateshead and when here we had a couple of bitters from the John Smith's brewery which were well served and priced. This is another superb local boozer and is well worth visiting as the staff were friendly and they offer a well priced range of beers and is very easy to locate from High Street bus stop it's a minute's walk.(This is my first review of the William IV). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.30. Friday-Saturday-10.00-00.30. Sunday-10.00-23.30. Nearest Bus Stop. High Street bus stop.

I recently visited Côte and had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious English breakfast. The food was perfectly prepared, with each element cooked to perfection, from the crispy bacon to the creamy scrambled eggs. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet vibrant ambiance that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall charm of the place. Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or a spot to relax and soak in a great vibe, Côte is an excellent choice. Highly recommend!
