Good service, very friendly staff, really nice food, good portions, keep it up.

We've called in twice in the last week. Can see that it's had a makeover, as the place looks great. Food is fantastic, a lot of home cooked favourites, and the service is very good too. We will be back very soon.

Visited today for a quick lunch. Attentive waitress very pleasant and the bar staff were friendly. We decided today we would try the dirty chips 2 meals for £12 bargain!! We had the Mexican shredded beef peppers, and cheese and lovely fresh homemade chips!! Really enjoyed it and the portion was great. Definitely would have again or another filling, highly recommend. Da iawn. 👍

We called for a meal after a long walk. Food was lovely. Family of 5. Staff very welcoming and allowed our dog in the none carpeted areas. My son played pool whilst waiting for our meal, he enjoyed this. Toilets immaculate. Would definitely recommend. Thank you 😊

Went to The Newborough Arms and being it was lunch time I had the meal deal for 2 for £12. I had the All day breakfast and the Hot beef and onion bap, both with home made chips which were spot on. Can't fault the service, very friendly indeed, Prices were reasonable and nice to see a proper pub with a Pool Table & Dart board. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, thanks and will be visiting again.

Had an amazing lamb dinner for our St David’s day meal. Wow this was a beautiful, well cooked dinner, fit for a Saint. Starters and dessert were off the same standard. Service was excellent and fast. Drinks were perfect and excellent price. Will visit here again. Very happy customer.

We have never been made to feel so unwelcome in a pub. We went for dinner as we were staying in a local hotel. The food was okay and reasonably priced but the cold atmosphere has tarnished our experience. The staff weren't welcoming and nor were any of the locals within the establishment. Food was just plonked on the table and no words were exchanged. The table next to us were spoken to and checked on but it felt as though because we were not Welsh-speaking we were not wanted. If you're from over the border and holidaying in North Wales, we suggest to avoid and look elsewhere for a bite to eat.

Lovely little local, very decent food, good portions for the price.

It's alright. Certainly good value for money and tasty food, but if you're going for a carvery the queue system is a bit odd. There is a corner bit where you queue up to start - get your plate and meat / Yorkshire there. Then to the left is some more food like roasties, but you then have to loop back round the meat queue to the right, where you get veg and gravy. I think it's just how they're having to use the limited space, but I don't get why they can't have one line that you just follow all the way through... Besides that it's very nice, good value and very good portion sizes. Maybe if they do a refurb they'll change things to make it flow more logically.

Slow service when not many people in.

This pub has been brought back to life. Food was delicious. Definitely recommend 👌

Very poor selection of beers. Access to the car park is a nightmare for bigger cars.

We booked a table for our tea and the family bingo night. Ended up eating tea in the bar because it is dog friendly in that part of the pub. The food was really lovely and a great price. The staff were kind and attentive. We will deffo be returning to this lovely traditional pub.

Stop of on the way to Wales, party of 9 we walked in and they catered for us all. Club sandwiches are beautiful & everyone else cleared there plates.

Thats all good but its not local anymore! Its terrible that people choose make chili con carne and curry in such amazing place! Nice vibe and background for really local stuff! Bad for Wales:(

Oedd y cwstard fatha chwd oer wsnos oed. Nath even y waitress druan gagio yn sbïo arna fo. Mynd i dalu wedyn, a oedd na pryd o fwyd extra ar y bill natho ni ddim even ordro. Fedrai mond meddwl bod pawb di lysho neithiwr ag oedda nhw gyd yn ffwcd efo hangover heddiw ma. On the plus side oedd y waitress yn mega helpful, a oedd y waffle a cacan chocled yn lyfli. So not all bad ond dwi'm yn meddwl fydda ni'n ôl.

I came here for food with 3 others and while waiting at the bar patiently to be served my friend ordered her food then went to sit down while waiting me and my sister was at the bar and she served another person who just arrived at the bar after us. She then finally got to my sister to take her order my sister went to sit down. Thinking I was next she ignored me and served another man who just arrived at the bar after me, ignoring me again. Then did it again with another man that just arrived at the bar again totally ignoring me. She was fully aware we were all together and still chose to serve others between and before me. I don’t know if it was because we weren’t speaking Welsh at the bar but two of us are bilingual and other first language Welsh. She seemed to not want to serve us and only regulars first who weren’t even waiting as long. Really disappointed and never coming here again. I ended up not ordering my food as she clearly didn’t want to serve me. It wasn’t even busy. Shocking. Don’t bother if you want bad service from a red head woman.

We chanced upon this very friendly pub while camping in the area. The mobile signal in the village is terrible but the pub has free wifi, and a cheap and cheerful menu that pleased the kids. We were well looked after, and would recommend, but watch out for the tight car park entrance!

Went for Sunday carvery, food was great, although my Yorkshire was a tad overdone. For the price though great value. Not sure if it was a mistake but only paid £5 for a small plate and a large plate was just over £10. Will definitely go again.

We were staying in a caravan site local to this place and having googled roast dinners we found this place, The lady’s serving on the door to seat you and the pub are lovely, but as soon as you get to the carvery it’s downhill the “chef/server” was quite abrupt and rude made us all feel rather uncomfortable, I feel like if your not a local your treated differently. Food wise it wasn’t all that.

Came for supper on Thursday evening...sat opposite the bar for a meal I had the curry it was beautiful and my husband had the chicken burger he said it was lovely...nice homemade chips.. cant go wrong 2 meals and drinks £25 ... lovely waitress..bar area was busy as the football was on and pool room was full of people playing pool...lovely staff will be returning again soon.

This looks a little rough around the edges from the outside, but a lovely pub. We had a dog with us so had to eat in the bar. The food was lovely and great prices, and the staff were lovely too. Would definitely recommend this place!

Took son,daughter in law and grandkids out for mother's day meal on Sunday and as always Bryn Rachel and staff excelled themselves fantastic food and the service from such a young staff is wonderful. Steve you should be very proud of them Will be calling again them.

We found this pub whilst staying in a cottage in the local area. The barman and the locals are really friendly. Made us feel so welcome and great to hear them speaking Welsh. We had food here too and that was really decent pub grub. Lovely open fire too. We all agreed that if we lived here this would be our local.

Food very nice good customer service recommended by the family

Arrived on time and acknowledged quickly. Shown to table and a drinks order taken without any fuss. Four carverys taken. Good sized portions of meat and a good selection of vegetables. One thing the party noticed was the chap who who dispensed the meat and Yorkshire puddings and stuffing used his hands to plate it up. The food itself was nice. There weren't any real complaints from the party. The gravy was really complimented. No puddings were taken by the party. The service was okay, adequate really. There was no WiFi in the backroom where the tables were. The bar bit didn't look very inviting either. Would go again though.

Dined as a party of 12 to celebrate a birthday. Lovely food with great service. Very welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and there was even entertainment!! Had a really enjoyable evening.

Had a fantastic night at the Newborough Arms Bontnewydd for our Christmas Party night in the restaurant. All 13 of us enjoyed the food and the service was second to none. All the staff were brilliant and courteous. We moved to the main bar afterwards and it was lovely to sit in front of a real fire – very Christmassy. Diolch yn fawr iawn am y croeso.

Excellent Sunday carvery, need to return to try the main menu

Went with friends to have food & drinks as we were staying in the area and this was the closest pub/restaurant to us. We were met by friendly staff. We all ordered different items off the menu and we were all satisfied with what we ordered. Reasonably priced food as well so we went back several times.

Large glass of wine costs £7!!!! Appalling!!!

Just had a fantastic carvery here, can't fault the food at all. However, when we got the bill at the end, we found out they charge £7 for a large glass of white wine!!!!. I don't understand why on earth that would be. Definitely won't be returning. Such a shame as the food was great.

Had an evening meal last night. We had two dogs and sat with them in the bar with some of the locals and there was a lovely atmosphere. We had Hunters Chicken and Fish and Chips. Both meals were really tasty and filling. Prices were really good value. Staff were friendly and attentive. Big car park at the rear. Thank yoi to staff for a very pleasant evening.

It's nice to see Newborough Arms open again. It was quite busy in the bars area, restaurant are not open at lunch time. Good hearty homemade food 2 meals for £10, bargain!! I had the chilli con carne, rice, homemade chips, salad and garlic, it was tasty but more chillies and spices please!😃 Also we had the chicken curry, same rice, chips and salad with naan bread, pity the naan was a bit hard. Pleasant attentive staff, looked after us well. Quick service and worth the visit. Will definitely visit again

We came across The Newborough Arms on A Tuesday night. We were made to feel very welcome by Rachel and her staff. We managed to pick up some new words of Welsh, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the locals. We went back 2 more times for our evening meals and the food was excellent. I would happily recommend this establishment to everybody. A very good Local Inn, We look forward to visiting again soon. Thanks for feeding us Chris and Joan

Spent 7 nights in Bontnewydd visiting many of the local attractions throughout North Wales and Anglesey. Visited this pub on several evenings we had great food very reasonably priced and good quality. Loved the crack with the locals in the bar. Especially one evening when...

I live in Bontnewydd and took my friends who are visiting we decided to go for lunch it was excellent and friendly smiling faces as always. Since the new management took over the pub has improved 100% I would sincerely recommend you visit for good...

Best for Lasagna & fish and chips

We didn't actually stay - the information says there is a play area - this is NOT TRUE. There is nothing for children here and there were people smoking in the "non- smoking" pub garden.

We visited the Newborough Arms with our children for some food and a drink. Currently, food is only served Thurs-Sun (carvery Sunday) after 5PM. Outside there is a lovely garden with picnic benches and there was a bouncy castle which the boys loved. Inside was nice and spacious, the staff were lovely and very accommodating for our needs. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, we ate in the pubs restaurant area. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the area
