Clio Lounge in Gwynedd

We visited for Dinner on a Saturday plus breakfast on the Sunday and Monday, I think that speaks volumes! The atmosphere is excellent, a really nicely presented place with easy access from the local car park. Absolutely excellent for Gluten Free options, the menu is just as large as the standard menu and our coeliac friend really enjoyed the food. We'll be back when we're in the area!

Wonderful for gluten-free - it's the first time I've had an all-day breakfast for years!

Cant tell who the staff are, I ordered a breakfast muffin which was alright my gf ordered a halloumi burger with everything removed, yet when we received it it still had everything on. We let them know and they proceeded to scrape it off and bring it back cold, covered in the extras still. The next few days we were both violently ill and this was the only place we’d been all weekend.

First time eating here, and it won't be the last. The food was lovely and the wait wasn't long. You order via an app at your table, which, was novel. Definitely worth a visit.

We have never had a bad meal at Clio Lounge, but it has been a while since we last dined here. There was an atmosphere of brisk and efficient service akin to that on the better cruise liners. We both had the Lounge Burger, mine having to be gluten-free and dairy-free. The food arrived within 14 minutes of ordering and from our vantage point, we observed that the moment it was ready and the bell was rung, it was immediately collected and delivered to our table. The burgers were some of the best we have ever had, tasty and cooked to perfection. Normally I would shun the bun and just devour the fries but this time, I found the bun so nice that it also got demolished. My wife also found her regular bun to be better than many, and although she might normally only eat half a bun, she ate it all. She commented that the house slaw was excellent. From our background in the restaurant business, we pick up easily on what we observe as good or less satisfactory staff attitudes and can report that everyone seemed to be working hard and diligently, as well as there being a good level of team cooperation. Vicki deserves a special mention for being constantly on the move, never wasting a moment when not delivering food to tables. Our overall experience gives the impression of a high level of staff training. I am glad that my request to check that the wine was dairy-free was taken seriously, meaning that I had to avoid the Shiraz, as the label identified it as containing milk. Not everybody is aware that dairy products are sometimes used as fining agents. I had the Merlot instead, which was very good.

Really love going to Clio Lounge, the atmosphere is so nice. I have been there multiple times already so thought it’s a good time to write a review. UNLIKE, other Cafés, upon finishing your food/drink and you feel you have to leave - The CLIO LOUNGE does NOT give you that impression, so it's quite easy to get involved in reading; be doing something on your lap-top/tablet/phone; chatting with company; have a SNOOZE, etc... I know, I hate leaving, the CLIO LOUNGE... So, when I go to Bangor Town Centre, I go around and do my Shopping first, then head over to the CLIO LOUNGE, for a few hours, until I have to (regrettably) leave to catch my bus Home... *There are PHONE SOCKETS scattered around this establishment, so it's easy to CHARGE your DEVICES, while stopping here... **I am a BLIND CUSTOMER and ALWAYS come to this place, when in BANGOR, Gwynedd... and... As I am ALWAYS HIGH-LY SATISFIED with EVERYTHING at the CLIO - I am ALWAYS more than happy to recommend this EATERIE... to ANY-ONE...!! xxx

amazing gluten free and vegan options

Women that was handing us our food didn’t seem very happy and was careless given the cutlery, didn’t speak to us at all and just seemed very rude. My food was lovely but my brother’s food was very greasy and off putting. I come to clio a few times and my mam loves it there was just disappointed by this visit.

Really refreshing to be able to eat in a nut free restaurant and not have to worry about allergies. The menu was vast, maybe too big. But the food was tasty and something different for a change. Service was a little slow, the restaurant was full but customers were left waiting to be sat or told there was no tables available.

Visited with friends and our children, really great to have somewhere to go that is truly child friendly and also serves great food. We’ll all be back again soon!

I had the macaroni and cheese, as well as the mozzarella arancini, with a cloudy apple juice. Staff were nice, food was good, service was quick.

They have a very full vegan menu, we were almost overwhelmed by the choice! We had a vegan bacon butty and a vegan smashed avocado brunch, both very nice indeed. They also have a full range of vegetable based milks, soya, oats and coconut. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The surroundings are comfortable, in the usual, classy Lounge style. Access at the main entrance is flat, all over level internally. There is a well-equipped disabled toilet, doubling as a baby changer, accessed on the flat. The WiFi is not bad. Highly recommended, we will continue to visit.

Had such a fantastic night at The Clio Lounge. We were celebrating my daughters Birthday. The atmosphere was amazing. Loved the quirky decor. The food and cocktails were delicious. Would definitely go back again.

This is a great place for drinks or a meal or both. It's a very large room with plenty of tables and lots of space. There's a choice of regular tables for a meal or sofas for relaxing with a drink. The design and decorating choices give a comfortable and reasonably smart atmosphere without being too formal. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We arrived here on our Taxi driver's recommendation and were very happy with the way that turned out. Would have been five stars but for the dog policy (dogs apparently welcome). In future I will be making choices for eating based on dog policy.

Quiz night was good fun, definitely recommend, great fun for a Sunday night. Great atmosphere, great music and great food.

I ordered the Philly steak ciabatta which was really tasty and the ingredients were fresh. The steak just melted in the mouth. My wife was overjoyed to be able gluten free items and had the butter chicken which she enjoyed. It was a great spot for a bite to eat and had a great atmosphere.

Decent all day breakfast, the staff are very friendly, clean environment. Normally very busy but somehow just about manage to get a table without booking.

Disappointed wanted a breakfast muffin with no meat - asked for hash brown which is available on the menu in other breakfasts but they couldn’t or wouldn’t do it. So just a coffee for me.

I had food here on New Years Eve with my partner and my great friends and it was honestly amazing. The atmosphere was really nice and quite comforting. The staff were also very polite and the food above all else was a party for my tastebuds. First time coming, will definitely be back and would 100% recommend to any newcomers...

Nice place and tasty food. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of different kinds of seating, from chairs for people eating to comfy couches for people to lounge on with a drink. The only fault I'd find was that ordering through the app took a long time, better to just go to the bar and put your order in there.

Given the great reviews, we decided to cancel our booking elsewhere and book a table at Clio Lounge. When we called, we were advised that a booking wasn't necessary. Upon arrival, the restaurant was completely empty, so what could go wrong? The positives first.. The decor was fabulous and the staff were OK. When we started our order via the QR code, everything that we wanted for starters was unavailable. The reason given was that, 'they have been really busy'. We then proceeded to order the main courses and luckily, they were able to fulfill our choices. Nasi Goreng was lovely and the burger and wings were OK too. The buttermilk chicken was so tough and I wouldn't have noticed the difference if they have put a brick on my plate instead. Along with the main courses on a Monday, we were allowed a free dessert each so we ordered them and at the end of our main course, we were told that due to an emergency in the kitchen, we wouldn't be able to have our desserts! We were then offered a piece of cake each instead or a round of drinks so we chose 3 chocolate fudge cakes and a carrot cake to be packed away so we could have them at home. 3 raspberry/chocolate tarts and a piece of carrot cake came out to eat at the table. Not only were they not packed away, they were incorrect. We sent them back and asked for the correct ones to be packed away so we could take them back to our hotel and enjoy with a cup of tea. I'm not a fan of frozen cake so they even managed to spoil that! My husband and I work in hospitality and to be told of an 'emergency in the kitchen' is absolute rubbish. Basically, they were really quiet and couldn't be bothered waiting for us to finish. Pathetic excuse. The next time we visit North Wales, we'll give this restaurant a very wide berth and do not recommend it at all.

Went for some lunch and drinks with friends some have never been and they had a fantastic experience their it's a cute cosy place to relax and then have some great food staff where great with us fantastic food loads of options for all ranges service was fantastic too definitely be going again highly recommended for families and groups you won't be disappointed their. thank you for having us

Accommodating a table of 10 on a Friday night, great tasting food and finally some decent music as well!

Lovely good as always. Our toddler loved his Mac and cheese! The place was packed but the service was very good and we got our food quickly. We often come here and we never had any issues. Also many new items added to the menu, which is great as it keeps things fresh and exciting.

We had our works Christmas party here on Saturday night, a large table of 17 people. A clean and spacious setting with tasty and reasonably priced food. Nothing was too much for the staff, very organised and friendly. For a large party like ours to have NO problems with the orders and for everything to come out on time together was amazing and very professional. I honestly can't praise this place and the staff enough. Keep up the great work and see you again soon.

This is the third time coming here for food when visiting our son at uni. Everytime excellent food, excellent staff and excellent quick service. Decor is fab, so eclectic! Always made to feel so welcome and never feel rushed! This will be our go to...

The food was truly brilliant (GF Lounge burger with sweet potato fries and house slaw). It was a true shame that there wasn't more fries and coleslaw - I could have eaten mountains of those! The GF sundae was divine, truly lovely.

Waited far too long to be seated. Waited 25 mins for our drinks. Food warm, not hot. Had a reserve sign plonked on our table before we'd even got food or drinks and was told that as soon as we had finished they need the table. Appalling customer service, if the chef spent less time at the bar and more time in the kitchen perhaps.the food would come out faster...but she had a thing going on with a bloke at the bar so....priorities 🤣. Nothing like a place called Portello Lounge in West Bridgford that I visit regularly at all...an absolute shambles is the only thing I can say about Clio Lounge....worlds apart .... disappointed is an understatement

The atmosphere was brilliant, it is spacious and had plenty of room, and the burger was rich and had great flavour, the portion sizes are generous and filling.

I was dining for one, and going to take some gluten free takeaway for my son. Service was friendly and fast, prices are really good. Food was.. Not disappointing. It's a chain place, but honestly I loved it. Oh and free WiFi, and a great two cocktail deal 👍

Visited while visiting our son, a student at Bangor University. We were quite early so the restaurant was quiet but we were met immediately and allowed to choose our own table. After drinks, we tried to order via the QR code but it failed. Luckily,...

No service now, order at the couner or use a QR code (don't know how to) food was disappointing today, not hot and the tenderstem broccoli not at all tender.

It is not our first time in Clio, we alwas loved the food and atmosphere here. But this time it was too disapppinting in terms of both food and service. Food was cold and it took like good half an hour to clear our table. We hope they will keep up with their stndards. We would defenitely visit again.

Really lovely staff, lovely food. Took celiac very seriously and there was plenty of options or vegan and celiacs. Very cosy atmosphere will definitely return. Good prices overall 10/10 no faults.

We really like Clio Lounge as a rule and that is why we keep going back. The staff are usually super nice and friendly, but we just wish the food was hotter. On numerous occasions we have had to send dishes back as they were luke warm at best. Ok, the staff apologised, but it shouldn't have to be so often. Also, and this is very noticeable, the portion sizes have become smaller. We will return, although perhaps not so regularly.

We are in Anglesey for a four day vacation and needed a place to eat we happened upon this gem the staff were run off their feet but bent over backwards to accommodate your request I could not fault anything ten out of ten for me highly recommend you try it for yourselves especially to boost a dying high street

Went there yesterday 2 adults 1 child, arrived at 12.45, rushed instructions on arrival, very loud woth background music difficult to hear. Found a table ordered at 12.58, chicken flatbread, longue burger, and kids blueberry and banana pancakes. 3 drinks, 1 apple juice, 1 milkshake and a coke,, the drinks took 20 mins to arrive and after 35 mins I enquired about the food, after another 10 mins it arrived, The kids meal was supposed to come with breadsticks and hummus (nowhere to be seen, I enquired and it was still forgotten), the pancakes arrived with no banana (they didn't have any), the chicken flatbread arrived stoned cold, sent that back (it was obvious by the hot salad that they had thrown it in the microwave), the burger was also cold (didn't get chance to say anything as the man didn't stay long enough the second time around to say). Overall a terrible experience, definitely will not be returning. (Moving forward maybe the staff should tell you if there is a wait for food).. We would've gone somewhere else.

What a great venue , good atmosphere, good food and fair prices . Thoroughly enjoyable lunch with family. Staff friendly and accommodating. Attentive without being *in your face *. Will definitely return on my next trip to bangor.

Lamb shawarma flat bread - everything completely cold . After bringing to the attention of the staff the lamb was returned warm, bread etc cold. Cheap ingredients - was it sugar chilli sauce? Best bit was the onion and pickle. Falafel flatbread better but disappointingly...

Fantastic experience. Came over for zip world and looked for a nice cafe for lunch and what a surprise! This place has a gorgeous venue, vibe, menu. The menu was so extensive and caters for absolutely everything. I can't believe how reasonable the prices are for the quality of food. Devastated that I live so far away, otherwise id be a regular. So so impressed, a must try.

Miami brunch = DELICIOUS. I love the Clio menu, it's so diverse and different to any other high street restaurants. We're lucky to have this little gem in Bangor!

I organised a large group meal (30 ppl!) at Clio Lounge on Saturday and the service was very slick given how busy the restaurant was before we even arrived. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and the staff worked very hard to ensure everyone's food arrived at roughly the same time so DIOLCH O GALON. Thank you!

Really expansive menus catering to all. Reasonable price & good portions. Full bar and good atmosphere, most of the locals seem to go here. Staff also very friendly.

We regularly use the Vintro Lounge close to The Tower in Blackpool. This one is just as good. Nice staff who are always on the ball.

We went for an early dinner around 5 when the restaurant was quiet. One of our party is gluten free which wasn’t a problem - they have a full gluten free menu and ask you to order at the bar so they can be sure to get the details right. There was a slight mistake in one of the items we ordered but they were happy to correct it quickly. The food was tasty and reasonably priced and they have some nice original drinks.

First class food and service in a comfortable environment. The biggest negative is dogs - two dogs barking at each other and straining at the leash when I believe there should be no dogs in restaurants for health reasons.

Spacious but cosy restaurant in Bangor. Very diverse and interesting menu, it was difficult to pick one meal... we stopped by around midday and tried a bit of everything from the brunch/breakfast menu. Every dish was delicious and fulfilling, good combination of tastes and lovely presentation.
