Beautiful quiet country inn, the food was brilliant, lovely and rich. The service was fabulous, we have a nervous rescue dog so they offered us the quiet snug where we could close the door, this allowed us to have a meal without worrying about anything else. Won't hesitate to return again when in the area.

Highly recommended. We stayed on a Friday night (many places in the area require 2 night minimum for the day/weekend we needed to stay) as a pit-stop from Warwickshire on our way to Porthmadog. We arrived late (nearly 9pm) but we rang ahead and the staff put our dinner order through to the kitchen so it was being made when we arrived. There's a free car park for guests and there's a petrol station next to the pub for mid-journey filling up (also handy for newspapers). We were impressed with the pub's friendly helpful staff - many places in the UK are struggling to find staff, and so we have no idea how this pub in a small village deep in the countryside finds so many smart and smiley young people to join their team. We enjoyed reading about the history of the place (the King Arthur stories seem rather fanciful!) and we especially enjoyed the 'award winning' Welsh breakfast. It's a lower-fat (ish) version of a full breakfast. If I'm remembering it correctly, the kitchen uses home-made chorizo and black pudding (wow!). Top marks all round ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just stopped here to get some food because we normally go to other pubs in the area but fancied a change. The place was empty. It was all a bit strange, none of the staff acknowledged us when walking in, and watched us find a table to sit at. When we approached the bar they told us they have the drink we wanted but there are no tables available. Very odd considering it’s a big place with lots of tables, non of which had a reserved sign or people sitting at them. 6.15pm on a Monday evening. Found the staff unhelpful and bordering on rude. We’re in the area often but certainly won’t bother with this place again.

Stayed the weekend, here first night we dined at the hotel the service was awful, the lamb was nice but nothing to write home about, piece of lamb dumped on the top of some mash potato with some apparently roasted vegetable's hidden underneath was not at all worth £24, and the staff spent more time chatting to friends by the bar than serving table, drinks ordered needed reminding as did pudding menu, twice before 20 minutes later arriving a lukewarm crumble and custard. Overall the hotel was clean apart from mould in bathroom and paint cracked away from walls in our room. Would i stay here again ? No, there are better hotels for £125 a night, it is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion they need to do better.

Stopped for dinner on way back from Bodnant Gardens. The staff were very accommodating and let us order food even though it was 15 minutes past 8pm (they serve food 2 - 8pm, according to the sign outside). It's a lovely old coaching Inn with lots of character. The menu is quite limited, special was finished (fair enough, given the time). Husband had lamb, I opted for curry, which was the only meat free dish on the menu. I am not vegan / vegetarian, I was just hoping for a flavourful dish - curry is almost the UK National dish after all !!. Neither of us could detect any curry flavours at all. It was just like chick pea stew. Shame because the lamb was delicious, according to my husband, and the puddings were great.

My family has been travelling to this area for over 70 years so stayed a long weekend with friends in Llanymawwdwy. We chose a weekend to include my Birthday and this was one of 2 restaurants recommended locally (other near Dolgellau) .Table booked and walked into bar area as nobody in reception, Shoed out after a couple of minutes waiting as we are not allowed to 'stand near the bar' OK so a hallway is better? Not a welcoming start. I understand we are in a Pandemic but there is a way of handling issues. We arrived promptly for our booking. Shown to table and chair way too low so manager brought me a cushion, Would have much preferred a window seat which the next couple in were shown to one in next room. A noisy family seated in same room as us with 2 dogs. One barked on a couple of occasions and they finally took it out. The other dog was seated at the table with them on a seat. Really on the seat - this was not a miniature breed? Not at all impressed in a restaurant - this was no service animal. The other table also had a dog that sat quietly. I am not anti dog but I do not expect them in the restaurant. One was allowed to wander over to us and was sniffing under the table. No apology from the owners. If you want to cater for dogs they should make other diners aware and a separate area provided. i prefer not to take my meals in the kennel - worse than putting up with my own animals at home! Food was OK but expensive - prices we pay in London/South East prices. We had 2 courses - Gammon, egg, chips, peas and pineapple X 2 and 2 puddings,.2 pints and a half of draft cola. Bill came to almost £55. My pudding was not very warm, my husbands was not sweet enough nice and his chips were end of bag - dregs. (Mine were fine). Nobody asked until after we were paying the bill which we had to chase at bar as waited ages after our pudding plates were cleared if all was OK with our meal.Overall sadly disappointing experience

Just been here for Sunday lunch and as we were a large group with children we were put into a lovely room on our own. Really thoughtful as the two children were able to move around which we would not have allowed if we had been near other diners. The food was delicious, definitely not cheap but really good quality, ( thanks chef) The service was also very good, the two young lads serving us were very friendly. It's a lot smarter inside now. It's a bitmore expensive too as it's rated AA 5* and a 2 course meal for 2 with soft drinks and coffee was about £55. They have some very good congacs for at least 8.50 for a single. However the food was excellent. The slow roasted belly pork was fantastic. Service was very good. We were driving back home and decided to stop off for Sunday Lunch and were not disappointed! This is a beautiful Inn with a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere from all the staff. Both bar and waiting staff were polite, attentive and friendly with the same welcoming touch. I would always recommend this wonderful Inn, and if we didn't live so far away would love it as my local for a tipple as well as a superb lunch, the Welsh lamb was simply divine, the puddings delightful. I have no complaints at all!

Excellent food and service, varied menu all freshly prepared upon ordering. We always use this Inn as our halfway stop whenever we visit Wales

Not staying there but at a cottage near by. Had breakfast one morning which was nice and just walked back from having our evening meal there. The food was delicious, really tasty beef bomb, excellent price for what we had, good portion size and friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Have driven past many times but never stopped. Driving back to Shropshire from North Wales four of us had a perfect light lunch. The staff were charming and efficient and all our 'light bites' were excellent. Liked it so much would like to go back for dinner and overnight. Emphasis on local and Welsh produce too.
