We used this place as a pit stop on a road trip from Harlech to Cardiff and the warm welcome and delicious food were just what we needed to power through the rest of our journey. I had the beef brisket and it was like a high quality home cooked meal. Nothing fancy, just the essentials done well, with a perfectly poured pint to wash it down.

Absolutely amazing place! Gorgeous interior, good was stunning! We had Sunday lunch and staff really lovely! So glad we found it and will definitely be back

Interesting old building. Impressive menu BUT very standard food. Not freshly made and expensive. Fires weren't lit, and we all sat with coats on. Minimum vegetables served, had to ask for more.

Stopped off here for a Saturday evening meal after being in the area from an afternoon walk. Food was excellent, and good service, reasonable prices. Well located, and easy to access. Good menu choices, of starters, mains and puddings. Will definitely stop again if in the area.

Crackling disappointment! Friendly service, and the roast was cooked beautifully. However, I was very disappointed that the crackling which was supposed to be part of the dinner was shockingly small. And I mean shockingly small, so much so that I thought it was a single carrot stick disguised as crackling! No, but seriously, one- only one- thin, very short piece of crackling. I thought that this was just mine but then I saw my husband’s disappointed face and realised he was experiencing the same fate! When I praised the food but was honest about the crackling; they did apologise to be fair and I was told that they served it like ‘breadsticks’. My reply that it was thinner than my little finger . And to be honest , if it had been the size of even half a breadstick, I’d have been overjoyed. Customers are not fools. Please don’t advertise a meal in one way and then fail to deliver- it undermines all the other good things about the meal !

We visited twice whilst on holiday in the area, first time not brilliant, they had run out of everything we wanted, so ended up with salmon in a soya and walnut dressing, watery sauce with loads of whole walnuts thrown on top, very disappointing. Our grandson had fish and chips and he said they were fine. We went back another night but only because there wasn’t anywhere else to go, grandson had fish and chips again which were fine wish we’d followed his lead, we ordered chicken in breadcrumbs with spaghetti and rustic tomato sauce which was tinned tomatoes with a few carrots and celery thrown in, no herbs species etc, just tasted of tinned tomatoes, very disappointing. Can’t believe we paid £18.50 for a bit of chicken and tinned tomatoes. Our tip stick to the fish and chips if you have to go.

Booked a table for food. The lady that served us was lovely, very helpful and attentive, she even fetched a cushion for one of our party who found the chair a bit low. Food was very good and well priced. Surroundings were clean and in good order. I would go back if i was in the area.

Came highly recomwnded, but ended up being really disappointed. We were sat outside the kitchen, Adele played on full volume. The scallop starter was okay, bit too much balsamic glaze. Had the Lamb, the most expensive dish on the menu, it was dry, the vegetables were soft and also dry Asked my dinning partner what she thought. Her reply "it was okay".

Very disappointed. Atmosphere was terrible, music blaring out of the kitchen on full volume. Felt like the staff were having a party in the kitchen and we were ignored. Left alone at the table for ages with no way to pay and leave.

The food was good the staff good be more polite a please and thank you goes a long way

A great place to stop for a pint of IPA

We stopped for lunch as convenient on the way to Barmouth and also because it was a place that Charles Darwin stayed at when collecting beetles in Wales in 1831. It is a lovely old building, beautifully maintained. The menu looks great; we had burgers which were outstandingly good.

A regular lunch stop for us when in the area. Thoroughly recommend the beef brisket roasty on a Sunday, or beef and gravy sandwich or pork and stuffing sandwich for a lighter bite as we had today. Special mention and thanks to chef today from Hope and Belle. 3rd Aug ‘24

Stopped in on route to another destination, passed it but roundabout near by took us back. Excellent food and good value for money.

Sunday lunch. Staff etc was lovely whilst it was busy you was still served drinks whilst they looked for available menus. Food came, Sunday lunch which was very well presented. The waitress asked if everything was OK at this point i about say yes until I was pulling a piece of string out of my mouth from the pork I was eating. All I got was sorry about that as the waitress actually took the string I'd pulled from from my mouth away. I never ate no more pork, this completely put me off my dinner. Although we did pay the full bill it has put me off coming back again.

Sunday roast was excellent, service was amazing. Great range of drinks. Spent a weekend in the area and kept finding our way back to here as it was definitely the best in the area.

Happened upon Brigands Inn as we were driving through Wales. The Sunday Roast was very well done and very filling. Service was friendly and prompt even without reservations. A pleasant surprise.

Beautiful quiet country inn, the food was brilliant, lovely and rich. The service was fabulous, we have a nervous rescue dog so they offered us the quiet snug where we could close the door, this allowed us to have a meal without worrying about anything else. Won't hesitate to return again when in the area.

I had a wonderful stay at the Brigands Inn. Dani, Kevin, and, Stefan were most professional in their Craft, knowledge of the Building, which is nestled in the seasonal nature of this wonderful place. The evening meal, breakfast were very tasty. I would have no hesitation In recommending this country Jewel as a calm Breakaway. Slán go Fóill. Seán.

Brilliant food, attentive service.

Haven't stayed so I can't comment on the rooms but had another lovely lunch meal here. Staff are really friendly and so accommodating for our dogs.

Right on the southern edge of Snowdonia, but thankfully local for us. Very warm and welcoming, staff and patrons alike - and particularly Ruby. Great, food, atmosphere and beer - what more could you want?

Popped in here for a bite to eat, with my infirm, 85 year old mum. It was a cold, wet miserable day and we were starving. We were "greeted" by a young woman at the bar by, yes you can order lunch "as long as it's in the next five minutes". Miserable woman, no smile, no welcome. This appeared to be the "theme" as the lady who brought the food, was just as unfriendly and miserable too. To be fair the food was lovely. Would I go again. Not a chance. Would I recommend it. Not a chance. We'll go somewhere else in future when visiting my family.

Have been here many times over the years. Interested to see how it was after a few negative reviews. Good news is it’s still the same informal, friendly, efficient place it ever was. Food still great quality my mate rated the burger “the best he’d ever had”. Enjoyed chilling in the residents’ lounge after dinner. This place is legendary.

Have driven by many times but never stopped in until yesterday. Quickly learned that I have been missing out on visiting a fantastic restaurant. Popped in for linch with my wife and son and each of us ordered a different sandwich. We all left the restaurant believing we had just ate the best sandwich we have ever had. Service was excellent, bar staff super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Outstanding restaurant that we will be visiting often and have already made reservations for an upcoming Sunday roast.

We visited The Brigands with friends and family. There was 9 in our party and 2 dogs and we were seated in a private dining area in the Residents Lounge. We all had starters, main courses and deserts. The food was excellent from start to finish with the service being just at the right pace. What made our visit extra special was the service that we received from Gwynfor who was an absolute legend. He was very welcoming, great fun and a consummate professional. Would recommend the The Brigands if you are in the area.

Arrived at The Brigands for a meal at 6:00 pm Sunday evening. There were a handful of tables occupied with people eating. We waited twenty minutes while the girl behind the bar served everyone else and were then told that if we hadn’t booked we wouldn’t be served, very unapologetic and very abrupt. It doesn’t say that on the website and the older lady who was delivering meals from the kitchen walked past me standing by the ‘wait here for a table sign’ at least four times in the twenty minutes and never said ‘Have you booked?’ Very poor service so unless you are desperate don’t bother. Go to the Cross Foxes instead!

Not a very warm welcome called in on Monday Aug 14th and asked for two breakfasts, and were refused it just seemed to~much trouble for the receptionist her face said it all. Needless to say we wont be calling in again she will be glad to know.

Superb food and well cooked. We loved this place. Set in the hills with a great view. Recommended eating even if it is £££. Well worth it!!!!

An excellent Sunday lunch - great service and great food. Have passed this place weekly while travelling north to south and decided to pop in with friends for Sunday lunch. We had the lamb and the pork. Both meals were large portions with a lot of meat and vegetables - both the veg cooked as part of the slow cooking of the meat as well as extra fresh vegetables. We were all very full after just having a main course. The meat was first rate - very tasty. Service was spot on - with only a short time between ordering and food arriving. Everything was nice a hot. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly intrusive. Would highly recommend

A not so regular journey too and from the coast always takes us past the Brigand Inn. We've stopped for lunch and on this occasion just for coffee on the way home. Friendly staff, and a great place to sit. The inside is a bit like a tardis with so many quaint rooms. One day we will stop overnight, it's so inviting.

Highly recommended. We stayed on a Friday night (many places in the area require 2 night minimum for the day/weekend we needed to stay) as a pit-stop from Warwickshire on our way to Porthmadog. We arrived late (nearly 9pm) but we rang ahead and the staff put our dinner order through to the kitchen so it was being made when we arrived. There's a free car park for guests and there's a petrol station next to the pub for mid-journey filling up (also handy for newspapers). We were impressed with the pub's friendly helpful staff - many places in the UK are struggling to find staff, and so we have no idea how this pub in a small village deep in the countryside finds so many smart and smiley young people to join their team. We enjoyed reading about the history of the place (the King Arthur stories seem rather fanciful!) and we especially enjoyed the 'award winning' Welsh breakfast. It's a lower-fat (ish) version of a full breakfast. If I'm remembering it correctly, the kitchen uses home-made chorizo and black pudding (wow!). Top marks all round ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This restaurant is in need of firm management and a qualified chef.Service is slow, some of the staff contradicted each other, but most importantly, the menu is decidedly basic. By lunchtime, they had run out to lager, there were signs of poor hygiene ( foot and handmarks where the staff boot or push the kitchen door open). Some staff appeared resentful when politely requested to provide condiments, sauces or a small glass. It probably suffers from a captive clientele ( the nearby caravan park ) and a lack of local competition, resulting in complacency. All in all, we felt as if we were imposing on the staff who had something better to do.

Waited over an hour for food. Awful service and the first waitress would not give a timescale to how long the food would take. We only ordered mains no starter or pudding. The second waitress tried her best to help. We had to pay for the food before eating. Would not recommend if you’re passing on your way home! 3 other tables walked out before us. Very poor service in such a great location.

We stayed here overnight in our motorhome (Britstops) and enjoyed a wonderful meal in the restaurant with our Border Collie. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was superb. It made a lovely end to our holiday and we look forward to a return visit.

Had dinner at The Brigands Inn. The staff were absolutely lovely and the food was first class! We had the Lamb and the Steak and ale pie. It was absolutely gorgeous.. the lamb was spot on too with a lovely bottle of red wine followed by a beautiful sticky toffee. Well priced as well. Food lovely and hot and beautifully prepared and served. Can’t wait to go back all the staff are a credit to the place. Thankyou so much

The food was delicious, the service impeccable. The restaurant is comfortable, the menu full of local produce + being good for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs. The steak pie was extremely good, as was the seared chicken breast with roasted vegetables. And, it's dog friendly. High recommend.

Stayed here as a group of 17 with our classic cars. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was amazing. Staff exceptional.

Delicious beef brisket roast dinner… I went for the smaller portion thinking it could be a risk, but there was still plenty of food! I’d say a normal size roast dinner. It was very tasty, quick and friendly service, I recommend!

We had worked hard fitting the new lighting to light up the outside. Went back a few days later in the evening to check them out, so we booked a table. Very pleased with how the lights turned out. The food was stunning, best steak I've ever had. The cheese board was very nice. Felt looked after by the staff and the general atmosphere was lovely. These guys are great customers of ours and we will become regulars. If your under the impression my review is bias just go and try the food, you'll see I'm just being honest.

Had lunch here ordered the Scallops for starter which was very expensive for what we received and had the steak for main again too expensive, there was a lot of fat on it and the quality just wasn’t there. Staff were good and friendly though.

We booked for an afternoon tea . when we arrived we were bluntly shown where to sit . a blonde lady cleared the other tables completely ignored us as she walked in and out . my husband just asked if it was waiter service or...

Just stopped here to get some food because we normally go to other pubs in the area but fancied a change. The place was empty. It was all a bit strange, none of the staff acknowledged us when walking in, and watched us find a table to sit at. When we approached the bar they told us they have the drink we wanted but there are no tables available. Very odd considering it’s a big place with lots of tables, non of which had a reserved sign or people sitting at them. 6.15pm on a Monday evening. Found the staff unhelpful and bordering on rude. We’re in the area often but certainly won’t bother with this place again.

Rude staff and zero level of service after waiting nearly 15 minutes to place an order in a queue to be told we would have to wait as they wanted to serve people behind us in the queue . Ignorant staff . Found a great place up the road to give our business to . I’d advise anyone to give it a miss unless they want real faulty towers service levels .

Stopped for a coffee lovely place

Stayed the weekend, here first night we dined at the hotel the service was awful, the lamb was nice but nothing to write home about, piece of lamb dumped on the top of some mash potato with some apparently roasted vegetable's hidden underneath was not at all worth £24, and the staff spent more time chatting to friends by the bar than serving table, drinks ordered needed reminding as did pudding menu, twice before 20 minutes later arriving a lukewarm crumble and custard. Overall the hotel was clean apart from mould in bathroom and paint cracked away from walls in our room. Would i stay here again ? No, there are better hotels for £125 a night, it is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion they need to do better.

Pulled in here for refreshments on our way back from Barmouth. Quite empty tbh & not many staff (off with covid) very nice big spacious pub. Plenty of choices. Friendly staff served to our table.

Booked a table for myself and my wife for a pub lunch, decided to go for the fish and chips only to be told that the mushy peas and tartare sauce were extras and didn’t come with the meal as the menu stated. Greasy, bland...

Stopped for Sunday lunch when travelling back from the Rhondda to Anglesey. This is the third time we’ve eaten here but I’m only just getting around to telling everyone how good it is! My husband had the roast beef and apple, raspberry and almond crumble....

Our 2nd stay here We stayed for 2 nights with our 2 dogs, ate at their restaurant both nights staff are really friendly, food was lovely and well priced. Overall great place to stay can’t wait to come back next year

This is still one of my favourite places to be but things have slipped a bit recently. Staff are welcoming and helpful, the building and location are beautiful. However, food is expensive for what it is and not quite as good as in the past....

I even out my trust in the barmaid to mix me a gin and tonic which was also very nice. Will most definately be returning oh and the roast potatoes are fresh potatoes which are roasted....also very nice

Staff are friendly, owner is very friendly. Food is top notch. With the lamb and the haddock being what we had. Prices not too bad for portion size. Well worth a visit

We ate a great meal in the Brigands. The staff were friendly and even though we were a bit later than planned they didn't object. There were seven people in our group and we were all enjoyed the food that we ate. The Inn gave us a separate room, which was good. I recommend it.

Lamb Henry was amazing. Great beer, great service with a homely atmosphere. Just what I needed after a days hiking in the Welsh mountains
