Excellent food, good price but if you order the prawn cocktail ask for it to be put in a separate cold bag because it came a bit warm but absolutely gorgeous meal.

Love love love this place! It is going to be our next curry house. We used to order from Standard Tandoori on Holloway Road but the restaurant is now closed after the pandemic (it’s still there on the google map but when you phone them you’ll be connected to a different restaurant which claims to be their ‘sister’ restaurant but for some reason not as tasty) and we were looking for our new go to Indian. I’m so happy to have tried this place! We normally order Lamb Rogan, Lamb Jarfrazi and tandoori chicken. Jarfrazi is for my husband so I cannot comment but Rogan was amazingly creamy with good flavour, and a little bit of spicy after taste - the lamb was soft and juicy. The tandoori chicken was lovely and juicy with its marinade well penetrating through the meat. (I hate tandoori chicken with colours only on outside)

I got an excellent takeaway for me and my 3 friends from here. Good, fast service - they even phoned me about an allergy request. The food was delicious, and portion sizes were good. They also threw in a free bhaji and poppadoms. We had more than we could eat, for £14 a head. It will be my default Indian takeaway restaurant from now on.

Rice and extras were not bad but the chicken madras was very bland and watery,texture was more like soup than curry.

Just got my food after an hour and 20 mins which is fine understand it’s busy but all my food was cold

The best curry house ever, especially if you are vegan. The website is great as it lists if any of the dishes include dairy or allergens. The delivery is super-speedy and the customer service is great. I would highly recommend the food - great quality and absolutely mouth watering.

I shamefully don’t leave reviews as often as I should but this take out is nectar from the gods. It’s everything you hope your Indian food will be. It’s so good I’d order it if I was having someone for dinner in my tiny apartment and they’d be happy. Nothing over cooked. Perfectly spice. Carefully packaged for delivery. And simply delicious. What a treat and I’m from Glasgow. We do good Indian in Glasgow. Thank you.

We always use this Indian takeaway haven't had a problem with it ever, always polite on the phone and we are regular customers. Foods always tastey and hot. Big portions and we now get a side or bottle on the house.. which is nice of them. I would recommend these guys to anyone who wants just a decent curry the way you want it, nothing fancy just good homemade nosh!!

Good quality food, quick service & they really look after regulars

Had a meal in this restaurant, which is probably better known as a take-away. The dining room is more of a shop front for the take-away but it is fresh and clean, and nicely finished if a little cool. The staff are really nice and accomodating. While we waited for our meal to be served we heard the staff patiently taking a telephone order from someone who was clearly rude and demanding, they were offered (and seemingly refused) a cheaper way of ordering their menu choices. We ordered a set veggie meal for two, it was plentiful and great value, well cooked and tasty. Wouldn't go here for a romantic meal for two but if it's good honest quality food you're after then I couldn't rate it highly enough. Definitely on our hit list now.

Staying with my daughter, she mentioned that she hadn’t found a really good Indian restaurant near Haggerston. The New Surma changes this completely. Great food, incredible value whether eating in or taking out, this place is wonderful. The staff are really polite and friendly, I cannot rate the experience highly enough!

very reasonably priced food. pretty good if you want a quick indian fix; not michelin star quality but definitely much better than a typically bad indian restaurant in london.

We have building work going on in our house so we decided to just pop out and eat in. It’s more of a takeaway but actually £20 each for starters curry rice naan and BYOB. Pleasantly surprised.

Very glad I found this curry house, everything ordered was stunning. New favourite. I would recommend the Badasaba, simplistic to a masala but not sweet and has a kick.

I regularly order take away food from the New Surma Tandoori although it is possible to eat in - This review relates only to takeaway food. The food is always promptly made, and it is consistently good and tastes fresh. I have been ordering food from this take out for over 7 years and the food / service has always been excellent! The staff are always charming too. I think the food represents really good value for money.

the young guy, who hate's eating curries. i think his name is (sunu), very attentive to our dinning experiance and was very polite and humble. first time i came across a very fine gentlemen, he even ordered us a cab, and assisted us in our tourist attractions

After our "regular takeaway", one that we have been using for years closed down, we were desperate to find a replacement, we tried a few in the area but all were a disappointment. We then tried The New Surma and havn't looked back. Among our favourite dishes are their chicken tikka byriani, lamb chilli masala and chicken pasands, the flavours are spot on and unlike a lot of curries they are light and not swimming in oil, the meat is always lovely and tender. In fact the various gravies remind me of curries that I first ate in the 70's. The staff are always warm, friendly and helpful. So well done guys, you're doing a great job

The curries here are really tasty. I love the paneer tikka starter. I wish they would make a main curry with that! The staff are welcoming too.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY from this place. Ordered a delivery from them yesterday and one of the things I requested was balti lamb. Guess what I received... Bloody balti beef! Seriously? Do you people think it's impossible to differentiate between beef and lamb?? Secondly, I could understand if that was a confusion or something, but there isn't even any beef on your menu anywhere. And I would be highly surprised if I saw any beef in an Indian restaurant, which you claim to be, it's supposed to be your bloody sacred animal after all!

Tasteless and 45 mins late for delivery!

I went her yesterday it's close to me and I was coming back from a day out. On the menu it states 15% off if collected over £15, my meal came to just over £15 but the man would not give me a discount because as part of my order I ordered a kids meal, there were no restrictions on the menu, and surely regardless of what I order if my meal comes to over £15 then I shoukd receive my discount. He knew he was wrong because he was stuttering slightly while saying it. Don't advertise something you are not willing to stick to.

I love this place - my go to take-away. Don't go past the chicken Pakora with mango/yoghurt dip and chicken tikka rogan josh. Eating in is a good option too. Check it out. You won't regret it!

He probado unos cuantos sitios indios en la zona, pero éste es en mi opinión el mejor! Las salsas son consistentemente delicioso con niveles perfectos de especias, y la calidad de la carne es buena (no 'bombeada' con agua, como algunas otras comida para llevar). He utilizado repetidamente este mismo innumerables veces comida para llevar y no una vez me han decepcionado. También ofrecen 10% de descuento en recogida de alimentos. Muy recomendable.
