We’ve been using this takeaway for probably 6/7 years now and can honestly say they are the best on the coast. We occasionally try Chinese food from monkseaton Whitley Bay and shiremoor because they are a bit closer to us in monkseaton but we just have to stick with Spence. Well done Spence Chinese takeaway!!

Always get our Chinese from here. The staff are friendly, place always spotless and the food is great. Always flavoursome, fresh and good size portions. Salt and chilli ribs nice and spicy, loads of meat in the house specials. There are loads of other Chinese takeaway in the area which I’ve tried when these are shut and not a patch on this place. They don’t deliver so you will have to collect but it’s worth the trip as we have never had a bad meal from here. Prices have stayed reasonable as well.

Chow main was OK but chicken and gravy is on the bone! They should say this when you order not the best and no good for kids

Yep it's definitely one of the better Chinese takeaways in North Shields still room for improvement though. Prawn crackers often very oily and never warm. Sometimes the food tastes too much of oil. Less oil or try a better oil for my palette. Thanks

Probably the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had. The food was so fresh and colourful it just looked really appetising. The meat was tender, the prawns were cooked perfectly as were the vegetables. The portion sizes were generous and there was no hesitation in changing the orders to meet our preferences for sauces and sides - excellent service. Can't wait to go again.

Me and my bro had a takeaway last night after a few pints at the Spring Gardens both places was jumping and both had a fantastic atmosphere. I had House Special Curry with Fried Rice and Chips, bro had House Special Egg Foo Yung with Fried Rice and Chips, both meals had reached our greatest expectations and the lady who was serving was very pleasant and friendly. Ordered chicken curry chips and rice… only got chips rice and curry no chicken it was absolutely covered in hairs absolutely wrotton!

We’ve gone to this Chinese for years, but lately the quality of the food has gone down hill. Prawn crackers are hard, food greasy & rice clumpy. It’s a shame as it used to be lovely

Well known, good quality chinese food. Sells seaweed which can be hard to find. Food is of a high quality but only sells quarter duck so if you fancy a half you don't get that better price. Collection only, parking near.

What has happened!?. Singapore noodles made with egg noodles(not vermacelli)and what appeared to be a spam ( or maybe a low grade gelatinous out of a tin ham), coated in a powdery substance, dont know what it was. King Prawns in Oyster sauce ? . Obsolutely no flavour of Oyster sauce.King Prawn toast doing an impersonation of cardboard and the lemon chicken was dire. So disappointed and upset. What has happened??????. It was on time hence the 1 star.

It’s still one of the best chinese in the area and no bother to order. Ring it in they give you a time in on time pay and out bang. I would add a picture of the meal but it’s all eaten yum yum 😋👍😁

Whilst they may not offer a delivery service, its worth the drive every time. Great food which makes the journey worth it. Busy all the time and that tells you the standard and quality they have.

I have been a customer at this restaurant ever since it opened in the early 1990's, and wouldn't go anywhere else. The food is of exceptionally high quality, and there is a wide and varied menu with dishes not normally served in other establishments. No other Chinese restaurant in the area can match this one. I hope to continue enjoying my meals from there for many more years.

Rang to order a takeaway from Spence terrace at 830pm give my post code and address along with my order. And paid by credit card over the phone rang back at 10pm to see we’re my order was and was told they don’t deliver to my address and have take money from my account. Thought they would have the decency to let me know or deliver the order do not trust this Chineese

Last night I was deciding on where to go for a Chinese soooo glad I chose spence Terrace the food was amazing loads of flavouring the best chinise I have ever tasted ! We had to collect the food but we only waited half an hour, I will deffo be making this my new chinise place to always order from

I have had food from this Chinese before & really enjoyed it BUT, I was only able to have the food if I had someone to pick it up for me & that's been rarely possible. I'm housebound disabled & although I live in the area, I'm unable to utilize this service without the option of a delivery service,...so although the food is lovely, the lack of a delivery service is absolutely crucial & mote important to me, which is why I've given only 2 stars, sorry!!!

First of all I must say the staff in this establishment are amazing the smile is so welcoming even when the takeaway is packed making time to ask how you are and how you would like you're food the food itself is so tasty it makes you're tongue slap you're brain I can't flat the place at all I will be coming back meat so tender everything cooked perfect and the tubs are packed bursting with flavour I have to say best in north Tyneside by far.

I have been getting a takeaway every Saturday night from here and its absolutely superb food. Gets dead busy though as it's really popular.

Had a good score on trip advisor so decided to try it. Very friendly and helpful person behind counter and did not have to wait long for meal. Had a 1/4 crispy duck with trimmings etc - delicious and plentiful amount, Hong Kong king prawns an chicken and cashew nuts - the price of previous 2 dishes included fried rice so price good also. I said we liked sweet and sour source so the receptionist made a note for more sauce in the dish rather than us paying for extra sauce which usually happens. The food was great and also good value!

Used this takeaway for over 25 yrs. Despite moving a couple of miles away and trying other takeaways I always return. Staff, in particular Cindy, are always pleasant and you never have to wait long to be served. Worth a visit if in the area.
