Suberp food, quick service easy to get to & find.. We were on holiday & went back twice as the food was that good. One of the best Chinese takeaways we have had for a long time.

First time trying upon recommendation as usual place has recently closed. Deep fried beef was the most horrendous I’ve ever had, no exaggeration there was no meat in any of the tiny pieces, really crispy and tasted like fish. This is my son’s fav fish and we have had this from many places, never like this! I rang to let them know, not for another one, or refund but just to say it’s really poor standard, I got told that they had cooked many that night and I was only one who had complained. I offered to return it so they could see for them selves as between 3 of us we all tried a few of the bigger pieces each, I even cut up some of the other bits and they were all the same.. They did offer to cook me another meal without batter but I declined as removing the batter was not the issue, there was nothing in the batter. The chicken chow mein and rice etc we got was nice. We won’t return here, mainly because being told that nobody else has complained does not lessen the fact that our meal was poor.

Very nice takeaway. Food was piping hot and fresh. We had about 10 dishes for a family get together and everyone enjoyed it.

My review 4 years ago (2019/2020) Delicious Chinese. Cash payment only. I can recommend. And very friendly and helpful! My review 2024 is exactly the same. We are lucky to be regulars and our names, order quirks (no onion, no spring onion) are always endearingly remembered. Thank you - in ALL that time you’ve never let us down!!!!! By far the best Chinese in Whitley Bay. We’ve been customers for over ten years and not disappointed once in all that time.

We always use this Chinese but not too good tonight. The chicken was awful and not my cat would eat it. I know the Chinese velvitise their chicken but it was like soft squashy slimy nastiness. Shame because it's normally good.

Rude on the phone. No curry sauce in bag. Bland food, chicken, rice, prawn crackers all bad! Strange pineapple in the lemon chicken meal. Won’t be going back

I feel the food has gone down hill, a chicken chow mein was ordered and the chicken was JUST cooked borderline raw. There was just no flavour to this meal. I don't like hard carrots in my meal. The curry was very bland. Beef was very soft and sloppy and the prices of the meal was expensive. It was very busy in the shop and I feel the cooking standards drop when there trying to get out the meals to the customer. I was told when I phoned the collection order will be ready for pick up at 6.35pm I was still waiting in the shop until I finally got my order at 7.10pm this is not acceptable, I will never use this takeaway again. I would not recommend this takeaway to anyone.

Bairly cooked soft squigy chicken in the chow mein. Bland curry sauce. Prices way to expensive, wait time after going to collect the meals was 40 minutes. The food use to be good but I feel the standards have slipped. I will never buy from there again

Great Take away The food is very tasty

My quest for a great Chinese takeout in Whitley is complete! Portions are generous (you should have seen the amount of ribs we received as an appetizer), sauces flavourful and food was piping hot when collected. Huge fan of the duck. Szechuan chicken was very pleasant too, though an extra chilli or two wouldn't go amiss. We will be returning. Probably very soon.

Food was fine and reasonably price. Wasn't keen on putting my money in a plastic tray and receiving it back in it. Guess they have there reasons but they are gonna touch it anyway so kinda pointless and uncomfortable process. Other than that the service was spot on.

Delicious food, we always buy from Jade Lagoon. Love to sit in our campervan having our evening meal when visiting beach at Whitley Bay. Staff are always polite, great customer service.

It's our local so we've visited around 30 times since we moved and the food has always been top notch, and the staff are ultra friendly! Couple of warnings - it's cash only and it can get very busy at peak times so best to phone and order in advance.

The best Chinese locally. Alex attends to every order and ensures it is ready for a prompt collection. Food has always been piping hot and delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend! You will not be disappointed leagues ahead of nearby competitors!

Firstly the owner is lovely. Secondly the food is always really appetising. Large portions ,fresh crunchy vegetables. Noodles are fresh and tasty. By far the best Chinese Takeaway in Whitley Bay Have the Trigons absolutely delicious and great for kids

Back after a while, just as good

Tried to order salt & pepper chicken. Salt & pepper. Chips with curry sauce. This proved to be impossible. I travel all over the country for a living so eat at takeaways quite often but I can safely say I’ve never had a lecture about how it costs more money to cook so I couldn’t have salt and pepper chips. I even offered to pay more but got a look of the owner like I was the idiot. I went 200m along the road to eighty 8 and got exactly what I ordered with no lecture I won’t be going back the man is obsessed with money. Tool

It's a Chinese. Serves Chinese food. Never had a bad dish or bad experience ordering with them. Parking right outside for pick up but is often full due the place's popularity. Guy who takes the orders and is there on collection is a lovely fella. Loves a Bond film. Only downside is it's cash only but there's cash machines close by so never much of a bother.

Amazing take away, honey n garlic best we have ever tasted. Staff friendly and very accommodating. If only we weren't on hols id love to be able to get our chinese from here every time .Glad I checked reviews 1st and came to the best Chinese.

Lovely food, hot and sour soup tasty and thick, sweet and sour tasty, very thin strips, quite crisp. Rice not greasy and spring roll was huge! 😁

Had an amazing meal from here tonight by far the best Chinese I have had in a long time not just the quality but the quantity, staying at Whitley Bay holiday park and its only 6min drive from there highly recommended.

A duck, a duck...my kingdom for a duck. I have complained about this before but Chinese takeaways in Whitley Bay cannot do duck properly. I mean just look at the picture...do you see a nicely sliced breast of duck? No, nor do I! I see ragged little bits of duck...again :-( Anyway, since everywhere seems to think this is how duck should be hacked about, I will concentrate on the positives (and make a mental note to stop ordering duck). While the duck may have looked like it had been shoved through an office shredding machine it did actually taste quite good and my Son stated that the curried house special was nice. The highlight from Jade Lagoon though was the House Special Hot Platter. This was excellent value with a good amount of BBQ Spare Ribs, Deep Fried Chicken Wings, Sesame Prawn Toast, Chicken Balls, Curry Trigons, Spring Rolls and Sweet and Sour Sauce all for £8.60. Take it from me that is far better value than Jade Lagoons competitors in Whitley Bay.

Looking for a decent chinese and jade Lagoon where have you been all my life?haha. By far the best chinese ive had and I'm fussy with my food i like quality food. Only downfall they dont deliver but hey i dont mind driving for 1st class food. The man on phone was so lovely too.

Outstanding from the phone call order to the quality of the food family of 5 all fed for a fiver a head all commented how tasty the food was .now by far my firm favourite takeaway ,also the owner has brilliant customer service skills always a smile and a lugh which in these days does make a massive difference. Great local Chinese. Gets busy at times of popular peaks, so ordering ahead is a must. They only take cash (which is a pain, especially at the moment) - but I’ve always enjoyed whatever I’ve had there, really tasty.

Ordered a few time from the Jade Lagoon and the food is delicious and staff are very helpful - i dont like fresh peppers and the were happy to leave them out and also to make one of the meals not as hot. Good prices and great prawn crackers. Thanks

Used last year on holiday and went again this year and can categorically say without a doubt, the best Chinese I have ever had. Large portions and so polite. Hot and tasty without being over bearing. Seriously... Just try it and find out for yourselves. Can't paste photos as it doesn't last long enough.

Very impressed with this chinese. We ordered a set meal for four between five of us and had more than enough food. Every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. They were very good about letting you change things on the set menu too 😊

Food was excellent as many other reviews say. Just to add, though they don’t deliver, when I went they had well thought out social distancing, with perspex partition and staff wearing masks, so it felt reasonably safe going in to collect.

I can totally understand why Jade Lagoon are awarded a 5 star food hygiene rating. The place is spotless. The guy who served me was so pleasant. An amazing number of items to choose from on the menu. I had sweetcorn soup & curried mushrooms with fried rice. Fabulous. I'll definitely return. Thank you

The food at Jade Lagoon is always awesome, but it gets busy between 6pm and 9pm most nights, especially Friday and Saturday, because of its popularity. Alex, the lad behind the counter, is very friendly and courteous. Highly recommended is their chicken Singapore chow mein...pay a bit more and ask for no veg, extra spicy and extra chicken and with a portion of salt and chili chips. Thank me later.

I always go by recommend friends to takeaways that I’ve never used before. Impressed by the clean exterior/interior. Male member of staff very helpful and advised me of the type of middle of the road Chinese dish. I chose House Special Chow Mein. He explained to me that I would have a sample of all their meat and fish. I came ready in a large side plate sized foil container. I was less than 1 minute away and on opening the lid all that was the bulk of the dish were noodles. I noted 2 king prawns, a few slices of beef and a few processed chicken bits. I felt vey disappointed and was charged £7.60. Sadly I won’t be returning. And another issue they only accept cash payment?

Decent Chinese food, freshly cooked

This has been our local takeaway for some years. The food is consistently good, with a fairly traditional menu. We have never been disappointed. Best to ring ahead to order at busy times.

The place appeard clean and very friendly. Food is average with some dishes better than others. The aramotaic duck was the best but avoid sloppy dishes.

My wife & I often enjoy a "Chinese Meal" but were becoming a little disenchanted with our usual place of supply and were looking for place. We used to use this venue many years ago and decided to give it another try as it had changed name & was now under new management.I’m so glad that we did go back and it has now become our first choice of supply when we wish to enjoy a "Chinese Meal" I’m more than happy to give it “Five Stars” in every way! The food is delicious and the service is great. The guy who takes your order on the “Front Counter” is really good he’s always happy to see you and pick up a conversation from the last time you were there. He’s a really good guy! We love to enjoy a curry and enjoy is definitely the word to use! If YOU enjoy a Chinese food then this is most certainly the place to go to! So glad we went back to sample what’s being offered there.

The best Chinese food we have had in ages absolute quality!

We struggle to find a decent Chinese takeaway locally and thought we’d try here.I placed my order over the phone. My call was taken by a very friendly gentleman and we were asked to pick it up in 30 minutes. When I arrived I was greeted by the same man. He was super friendly and smiley faced. This is the only Chinese takeaway my husband has literally demolished! He’s normally quite fussy with Chinese food but thoroughly enjoyed it. The portions are very generous and the food was piping hot. I will definitely be using this takeaway again.
