Joes Chinese in North Tyneside

Phenomenal value. I ordered the set menu for one on a Friday night. Wee snacky spring rolls are always fun and the ribs were sticky, sweet, and comforting. I was pleasantly surprised to see full size servings of rice and chicken satay in the bag. Satay sauce was nice and spicy, the chicken was clean and well cooked, and the dish was packed with veggies so good and filling. Cost less than a tenner and I got it within ten minutes of ordering. Super generous and tasty, I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu.

The best restaurant around. Very comfortable and relaxed place. The staff are friendly and helpful. All food is excellent with huge choice of dishes.

Love Joe's one of the best in north shields. They cook to order so if you want something a bit more or less spicy or to your taste in can be done.

Been going here for years and has been great. But this time really horrible. House special curry had no meat in it and salt and chilli chicken was tough as old boot's. Also was told 45min to an hour for a delivery but was more than an hour and a half, ....2and a half hours the last time.... Not good enough!!! .. won't be using this place again. And the owner didn't want to know.

Ordered for meals to be delivered excellent communication on telephone ordered 2 evening meals specials did have to wait for delivery to turn up but it was really worth it food arrived very hot was really surprised, lovely to see that friendly delivery driver the food was excellent Quality plenty of it the barbecued ribs where excellent highly recommend them l had chicken in lemon sauce with fried rice the flavours where lovely my hubby had king pawn chow mein he really enjoyed it plenty of it l would highly recommend joes excellent food excellent service thank you for a beautiful meal will definitely be ordering again well worth the money

Found this place while looking on Google maps so decided to have a look. Rang at 7pm and arrived by 7:30 (they close at 9) . Place was really quiet, only 2 other people eating. Given a menu & a special menu. We opted for the special. Both had veggie spring rolls , both had spicy chilli sauce, the Mrs opted for chicken, I asked for veggie which was no problem. Fried rice boiled rice or chips is also included. Also asked for a bottle of wine. Food was very good! Portion size was perfect. The place is a little dated but I don't spend long looking at wallpaper! We paid a total of £30, £10 of which was the bottle of wine! Can't argue with the price! Service was one lady who takes all takeaway orders, deals with customers and does the cleaning but she is lovely so all in really pleased to have found this place. Will definitely return!

Me and my husband had duck fried rice Singapore won ton soup and house special szechuan takeaway for the first time.The food was delicious.We will definitely order again 👍🏼

So, myself and my son were pondering what to have to eat on Friday 8th April. I said, we should order from Joe's, as couldn't be bothered to cook. I had house special in Szechuan, and my son had house special chow mein, Singapore style. Ordered around 6pm, and was ready very quickly to collect, and it was, once again, fabulous. The best Chinese in North Shields area, full stop!

Absolutely rotten!!!! The women on the phone didn’t understand a word I was saying! Loads of good reviews about this place it’s was absolutely disgusting! Spent £35 to get 2 curry sources dripping out of the bag and then a 15 minute wait for new ones! The standers of the food was not nice at all chicken was more batter then chicken! I my opinion everyone go to young kee!!! More organised! Better standard food! More polite and more welcoming! Fast delivery and returns! This was a waste of £35 was not the best super upset on my ordered finished work for this shitr

I had a family get together to arrange (food wise), and Chinese was the overwhelming choice. In North Shields there are some takeaways, and some fastfood/takeaways. We have used a well regarded one in North Shields for a while, and in fairness, it has gone downhill of late. So, I took the decision, Joe's it was (I have had food from there a long time ago, so knew it was great), I went in to ask if they could prepare a fairly big order if I gave 24hrs notice, to collect at 6pm - paying in full at the same time. They said that was fine, which was great. So with 24hrs to go I ordered, and provided a written breakdown for them, asking if they could label the bags, which was not a problem. When I collected at the agreed day/time, it was ready as promised - also, they had cut the notes into labels for each bag - brilliant!!. So, the night of the food - what can I say but went down an absolute treat, with some discerning eaters! There was only a bit of rice/chips left as there was copious amounts of food. So, to sum up, Joe's is now my go to restaurant/takeaway in North Shields. Thanks for everything @Joe's, it made our night!

Very plain and basic but enjoyable..if they get busy with take outs you've got to patient. Every body enjoyed their meal. I had duck and ginger and it was Nice . only downside is the small bottles of beer would prefer draught

Great little chinese, eat in or takeaway, what seemed family run, carnt understand why it wasnt busier. All freshly cooked to order. Definitely worth a visit and we plan to return when next in the area!

Had food from Joe's last night to cater for a large group of friends, food was excellent and everyone was left full. Highly recommend.

Honestly the best Chinese food I’ve had in my entire life and my partner agrees. You don’t even have to season anything as it’s already perfectly done. And unlike a lot of Chinese takeaways the price is really good value for money, Very cheap. Defiantly will be spreading the word.

Probably the strangest and most underrated Chinese restaurants I have ever visited ! Visited Friday night when everything else seemed to be fully booked to find one other table occupied. The place looks on the outside like a 1960's Chip shop and resembles a transport cafe inside ! However it was clean and welcoming by a very nice lady and we ordered a variation from the menu. Complimentary prawn crackers. Beer choice was limited and no seaweed available (a personal favourite) ! I can only say when the food (promptly) came we were extremely impressed. Duck starter. King prawns. Crispy Beef. Special Curry. and two other Chicken dishes. Served hot with a smile and all absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef ! Final surprise was the bill ! Unbelievably cheap. (no credit cards though). Do not be put off by the appearance of this place the food is first class. I have paid more than double down south (where we live) for much less. Really cant understand why it wasn't more busy. If I lived here I'd be in there every night !

This cosy Chinese restaurant serves a 3 course lunch 12/2 pm for £5.95!! Soup or chop sudy roll starters n a good choice of mains. All freshly made and yummy . Great value and I would thoroughly recommend trying this out.

We're been eating here for many years now. Coming from a Asian country they satisfied my cravings. A Family run business and you will have a Family style service (Friendly and accommodating). A small cosy place feels like home. Delivery right on time on the dot. Always try new things ask them for any special to try. Enjoy!

Always used to have Joes when I lived in north shields. Now I've moved to blyth I always try to get up to get one when I can. Food is great and loads of it. My favourite Chinese.

I sometimes go to Joes for their 3 course lunch special which offers great value for money however they do pack out their meals with onions to give it the impression of getting greater amounts of meat. Still very tasty and leaves you feeling very satisfied. The staff are always lovely and make you feel very welcome.

Absolutely fantastic! Extremely friendly staff, always so welcoming. Amazing food and great value. Myself and my family have been coming here for over ten years and even though we've moved fifteen miles away we still make the journey as it's still our favourite Chienese. We've never ever had a bad meal here, couldn't rate it highly enough. It's always busy for a reason! Highly recommend the chicken and chips with gravy and the orange chicken

A homely old style family run Chinese restaurant. Very friendly helpful service throughout, quick service with thumbs up from my teenagers on their dishes. Shared duck starter was excellent. Good value for the experience, will visit again.

Terrible meal tonight. Struggled to eat it, bland, tasteless bilge. Used to be so good but I wonder if it's under new ownership . If so they need to get their act together. Meal was evening special with special curry. Get it sorted folks .

It is a little like sitting in someone's living room in Joe's but I have to say that isn't necessarily a bad thing, they make you feel at home. Good food and reasonably priced. I liked the vermicelli and the duck and pancakes is also very good.

I started coming here when I was 10 years old and I have been enjoying this place for the past 11 years. The owners are the nicest people you can meet, the prices are reasonable and the quality of food is superb. Decor is plain, but who cares, I didn't come to a restaurant to look at the walls! Chicken in Plum Sauce is my favourite, I highly recommend it!

I have known Joes for a very long time from original owners to today, its always been a friendly establishment a reasonable menu at average prices, its clean with good service, and I whole heartedly recommend it.

Food is amazing staff are brilliant well worth the price. This is my all time favourite chinese and a order from hereat least 1ce a month. A have tried many chinese places and they dont even come any where near as good as Joes in North Shieds.

This was our first visit to Joe's despite living in North Shields for years and I only wish we had discovered it earlier.We ordered a takeaway and were pleasantly surprised at the cost compared to other Chinese in the area. The restaurant itself was busy despite it being early on a Friday night.Our food was prepared quickly and we were really impressed with the quality. We're looking forward to trying the restaurant next time.

Had a take away. Was an excellent price for a three course take away meal. The food was good but not the best that I have had. Even though it was a Wednesday lunch time it was popular and the staff were friendly. It made me want to try the small restaurant the next time I go

This is my father's local. We go there often when visiting him, and as one of life's fussy eaters, well.. I have never had a better Chinese meal in my life, and that experience has been consistent with every single visit over several years now. Louise and Amy are the most welcoming, thoughtful staff..and they treat my 88yr old dad like family. They go above and beyond the word "service" by about a million per cent. I don't want to embarrass them, but the entire family team at Joe's is deserving of every bit of good fortune life could bestow on them. Eat there. Your tummy will thank you.

We are regulars here and always enjoy the well priced generous portions. The food is very good and the welcome always second to none. The décor is a little quirky but its central location is very handy. We have been here countless times and are always delighted. The China tea is lovely and the house white wine is very good and well priced. The background music is always very pleasant (English)

Joe's is basic, but great. My mother and I get in for lunch about once a month and we have never been disappointed by either the food or the service. A very popular local eatery.

My boyfriend and I use Joes Chinese quite often, food is always lovely, however they need to spend more time on the chips, there has been a couple of times I've ordered chips with my meal and ended up binning them due to being undercooked. But, the value is good and quite quick service.

Everyone has one. Everyone thinks there is better than the rest - but Joe's really is. The staff are always friendly, you get served quickly and the food is top notch. I would definitely recommend them!

Meal for two last night. In early just after opening. Spare ribs to start and they were the tastiest I have had in a long time. Special curry was above average. Service was friendly and a good atmosphere even if we were the only couple there. Carry out service was busy but this did not impact our meal which was washed down with a reasonably priced house white. I will be going here again good Chinese a bit above your average.
