New Southlands Hotel in Scarborough

The hotel was inexpensive and we took our dog so you cannot expect a five star establishment. The breakfast was very good and the staff were pleasant. I have to say that the room could have been updated and there was only one plug socket and that was taken up by the kettle. All in all it was a pleasant stay as we very much like the south side of Scarborough.If you are looking to take your pet and not wishing to break the bank then this is the place for you.

Good hotel ..very tidy ..the room we were in was a bit dated ,food was acceptable, breakfast was fairly good although 2 consecutive days ..had to ask for plates and eggs ... staff quite attentive but the bar was chaotic ,in the evening 10 to 15 deep and one lad who was quite out of his depth serving ...could be much better ..the entertainment didn't quite hit the spot for me ,but loads of guests looked to be really enjoying the atmosphere... definitely worth the money just not quite right for me

Nice clean rooms , best we have stayed in . Bit out of the way but enjoy the walks down and cliff train back up . Hotel was kept nice and clean .. apart from the lift it was a little grubby on the inside . Table service at evening meal was fast and efficient. But the food was a total let down . Soup was like dish water except the tomato one . That was thick and looked and tastes like the pasta sauce from the pasta that was on the menu that evening. Bit of a let down really not the best I we have had . Not much choice either needs another choice on the menu. Had lasagna one evening was very bland , breakfast was OK apart from sausage being over done one morning . On the whole a bit poor really. Caledonian need to get on top of this issue .

Went here on a five day break nice and clean hotel staff were lovely and helpful enjoyed food staff work hard room clean will be going back again

Rooms good, Food reasonable and the staff very helpful. We will be back.

100% excellent how a hotel should be managed

The hotel is a little bit dark. It is comfortable, nice lounge and conservatory with tv. Meals are good decent value. I am gluten free and staff were helpful bringing the toast separately and cornflakes. Could have done with some additional fruit on buffet.

Great service nice bar and lounge areas loads of paid parking but lots of free parking around hotel if you get a parking permit from hotel. Not the best area a little run down but prices hard to beat. Cheaper rooms little basic

Excellent staff , excellent food , very clean and tidy

Ruth and Tracey were marvellous they loved are dogs and were eager to help with any queries

We really enjoyed our 3 day break. All the staff were lovely. The room was clean but the bed could have been comfier. However that would not stop us returning.

I had a lovely 2 night stay here, the hotel is located in a residential part of Scarbrough - making it easy to drift of to sleep. However saying this the conversations can be heard from other rooms, also the floorboards in room square, that is why i docked a star from the "room"' Ratings The hotel is only 5 mins by bus into the town centre

Terrific find in a great peaceful location. The staff are exceptional and the food is excellent for the price. Room quite small ( we booked a small cosy room)and basic but really fresh and clean. When we return we'll be going for either a standard or superior
