Excellent food served by cheery staff, recommended amongst the many options in the town.

Stopped here for fish and chips, lovely freshly cooked fish, nice girl served us, even allowed our wee dog in too. Curry sauce was also nice, unless your super hungry go for the small fish as the standard fish is huge!! Lovely friendly atmosphere too....

The attitude of the server was disgusting they need customer service training

Worst fish and chips in my life. The fish smelled somewhat musty or muddy. The cleanliness of the tables is very low. Ketchup for extra £0.80. After going to the toilet, I open the door and there is an old lady relieving herself. I don't know if she forgot to lock it from the inside or maybe the lock was broken. The place was abandoned with great disgust. I definitely do not recommend this place!

The staff was friendly. The shop's exterior was beautifully designed and had a distinct appearance. I wanted some great chips and that is exactly what I received! Chips were fried to perfection. Freshly fried fish. Lots of batter on the fish. Large servings. Lovely, polite service, inexpensive and clean, a stylish area to eat. The toilet door was opened right next to the tables, making the place stink. There was only a few chairs inside, making the space feel cramped.

Visited on Saturday 10th August. I ordered fish and chips twice. They were lovely. But found the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I asked for a glass of tap water we were eating in.The girl that served me pink t-shirt glasses and blonde hair refused by saying no I politely explained that places cannot refuse you a drink of water. She ignored me and was off hand and moved away from me. It was a hot day I then had to buy a bottle of water. I also noticed her been rude to a young staff member telling him abruptly and rude to wipe a table. I visit Whitby often but will take my custom elsewhere this is the second time I have been in a refused a glass water when visiting here there won't be a third time.

After managing to get in,up the 2 deep steps with no grab rails or anything to assist access to the shop, for people with mobility issues. I was greeted by a very sharp"we aren't open yet"from staff with lack of manners ,when asked when they would be open they seemed reluctant to answer but after repeating my question I got a negative attitude response with maybe 15 minutes so after managing to get down the deep steps and then returning back 20 minutes later I was met in the doorway by a member of staff who quite obviously didn't want to be there bringing out the advertising board she said I'm putting the board out but you can't come in until another member of staff arrives at 12 o clock,so I asked are you going to open at 12 then and she replied NO so I went off and found another establishment which had customer friendly staff.I personally would recommend to avoid this shop.

Food was lovely, staff a bit grumpy especially when I said we didn't want garnish on it . They still put it on then grunted when I mentioned it . The main downfall is how loud the music was . I was with my family and they couldn't wait to get out for this reason and also I seen a few others move seats for the same reason. Maybe it needs turning down a bit to back ground music rather than a concert.

Me and my other half had an ice cream trawl and I’d have to say these were the best ones we had out of the other 2 we had earlier! The server was so chatty and friendly. Lots of choices for ice cream flavours. The outside of the shop itself was presented really well and actually had quite of a uniqueness to it. The prices were also very reasonable 🍨

Wanted some amazing fish & chips, and that's what I got! Freshly cooked haddock whilst waited, chips were great too. Lovely friendly service, affordable, and clean, simple stylish place to sit and munch.

We only eat fish and chips at your venue. Your fish fryer always cooks our fish as we request which is well done and lightly battered. One really good fish fryer. All staff pleasant and helpful.

Went yesterday after passing looking for somewhere to eat. No queues so at first was concerned that at a busy time it wasn’t busy. But my god what a fantastic surprise, well presented , large portions, well priced and tasted great !!! No more queuing at the magpie for over priced hit and miss chippie tea ! Thank you

Average Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas. Quite bland. Have had much better in various locations around the country which is a shame as we were looking forward to them.

£5.10 for a small portion of chips and peas delivered with a ‘and your point is ?’ Avoid just because not how business should be run

We called in today for fish n chips. I can not recommend this place enough. Only waited the time to fry the fish, maybe 10 mins..chips are real and cooked to perfection. Loads of batter on the fish l, but no taste from the oil, so it's replaced often. Really big portions , with a slice of lemon on top, which set the whole taste experience off. Best in Whitby by a mile. Will eat in next time so we can have a cup of tea and some mushy peas. The girl serving was lovely.

Great fish n chips with a garnish of lemon and parsley made it a bit different than the normal.

Didn't fancy the queue at the other place and this was recommended by a local. Perfectly cooked fish, nice chips and great curry sauce. Service could be a bit more friendly, the request for extra forks felt like we'd asked them to go catch the fish. Still, a lovely portion of fish and chips!

Popped in today with our little Dog. Yes it's Dog friendly. But only downstairs in the area near the counter near the door. Haddock and Chips were delicious 😋😋😋. Very filling. Ended up taking some of it home because it was so big that I struggled to eat it and I don't like wasting food. So I will save it for later on. Poor girls were rushed off their feet. Got to give them credit because they did a brilliant job and only 2 of them there doing everything. A must visit if you are ever in Whitby... And you get a Loyalty Card near where you order your food. Read the card for details please...

Delicious fish & chips - lovely crispy batter

We grabbed some lunch here on a very quiet December Saturday in Whitby. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and we were served quickly. There is ample seating inside and toilet facilities. We were given a beeper to let us know when our food was ready to be collected from the counter, which was an interesting idea. We paid £7.95 for a small cod and chips, and the food was nice, but the batter was a little tasteless.

We both had regular cod and chips. Both meals were really delicious, beautiful fish and lovely chips. The place wasn't busy but it is off-season so it isn't a surprise. It is a dog friendly place but you have to sit in the front and with open doors could be quite cold but we weren't bothered about that.

Food was OK, but found it greasy, especially as the fish was laying on the chips and didn't look like it had been drained very well. Staff pleasant.

Incredible fish and chips. Don't queue for the Magpie. Ideal for family wiith young children, big portions for kids meals. Definitely coming back.

In my experience with Angel Fisheries Harbourside, I found that the fish and chips were not well lived up to the rave reviews about them. The breading on the fish was just fine, but lacked in flavor. The chips, however, were something laughable. They were hot like they were just cooked, but felt almost raw, and tasted very dirty, like they hadn’t been washed. I would much more recommend a different fish an chips restaurants for your true Whitby fish and chips experience

On a short break with wife and granddaughter we found Angels fisheries that for a reasonable price. Fresh cooked food that was really nice and a clean place. Would definitely go again.

Food top notch, good portions and tasty. However service wasn't very good. Seemed like the staff on couldn't be bothered. No smiles, no please, no thank you. Reluctant to come back if that's all I'm getting.

We have been coming here for a few years now, as we live in pickering, the chips were just bits, fish was warm, curry sauce was very strong and dark brown, last time never again.

Food nice zero customer service very rude attitude from staff

Halal option as they offer to fry fish and chips separately in vegetable oil and that's the only reason I'm sharing this review. Can't really recommend otherwise, one staff member was very rude to customers, slamming a fork on the counter when a yound lad asked for one. 80p for a small pot of ketchup?! Can you imagine after we'd already spent £51 and had 3 children with us. Drinks were not cold on a hot day, very disappointing. Fish and chips however were nice. Must add the other member of staff was friendly.

The food was good, no table service which wasn't really a problem. Hugely disappointed that tap water wasn't available. We had a buy bottled water if wanted water. My daughter only drinks water, she won't and I don't allow her to drink fizzy drinks but they refused to give me tap water!!

Plenty of seating, on the main front so it will be busy. One main toilet, clean tables throughout. Weekday 6pm We had Cod Large, Fish bites and Chips, bottle of water, 2 X Tarter sauces. £20.00.

The Angel Fisherise Harborside in Whitby At the counter I ordered fish and chips, which I had for dinner. The system with the small device that gives an alarm when the food is ready was a bit foreign to me as a Swiss, but a very good thing that contributes greatly to the efficiency of the service. Food was good but servicecwas dreadful. The girl serving was miserable and rude. Tried to make conversation but we were just ignored. I work in customer services and we all have bad days but you leave your attitude at home.

On 24th July 2023 Looking for somewhere not overcrowded but would accept dogs, and found this place that turned out to be a surprise gem? Food Cod & chips very fresh and tasty, service very polite and friendly and certainly value for money. I love my fish & chips and this certainly ticked all the boxes? Would visit again and would certainly recommend? Made my day!👍 There were five adults and one dog, dog enjoyed it too, but most of us had eaten all ours so dog didn't get too much? Perhaps we should have bought a dog's portion as well😁?

Visited yesterday, a very busy Monday and came across this little gem on the harbour side. There were 5 of us, plus the dog and we found a table as a family were just about to leave. Together we ordered 3 small, and 2 large, cod and chips. They were delicious, really tasty fish and perfect chips. The small cod was certainly a fine size for me. Ok they are served in carry-out containers with a plastic fork, but it's no different than eating fish n chips outside, and at least you don't have to worry about the seagulls swooping for a bite!! And for 5 hungry adults certainly a good deal cheaper than some of the maybe better known local restaurants. There are even details of where the fish and potatoes were sourced (locally)

Shame food wasn't served on plates with proper cutlery - maybe that's just my preference Food was fabulous 😋

Excellent service and the fish and chips were very reasonably priced. Billy bonus that they do sundaes aswell. Defo worth a visit. We ate in and it was a very pleasant experience.

Four people & 2 dogs. On Friday 7th July we went in and had a fantastic meal fish, chips and mushy peas. Nicely washed down with a cup of tea. After we had finished our meals my boyfriend Steve fainted. The staff step up a gear and phoned for the ambulance, fetched water, check pulses etc. Offered us drinks whilst waiting for the ambulance. A first responder came did all check after an hour Steve was feeling a lot better. We cannot thank the staff for all their help. We would recommend this fish & chip shop. Value for money. Thank you.

Easily the best fish and chips in Whitby 😊 very reasonably priced compared to most of the others in the town who just seem to want to rip locals and tourists off. You can takeaway or sit in ( which they don't charge you extra for!!) Highly recommend

Service was appalling drinks almost thrown at you, fish and chips actual quality was very good but fish was dripping in grease, which spoiled it and trying to eat it with a short plastic fork made it worse. Wouldn't recommend.

Visited this restaurant on the weekend, it was busy which was understandable. But the women at the till who served me and my partner lacked basic manners, and was impatient when I was looking at the menu. So I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're wanting great customer services. Disappointing, won't be visiting here again 👎

The Fish & Chips here are as good if not better than anywhere else I have tried in Whitby.

Can’t fault this place ! Absolutely gorgeous! Fish was huge and melt in the mouth delicious. Curry sauce AMAZING and the peas were great too. Price for what you get was very reasonable for the area. See you again very soon 😀

Lovely fish and chips at a reasonable price, food was spectacular. But was some of the worst service I've seen in a fish shop. Employees seemed to hate life and hate every customer trying to buy their food. They were unusually hostile and off putting, might've just been a bad night but wont be back again as it left a undeniable sour taste to the whole experience.

Staff could not be bothered to serve us at the ice-cream window. Poor! She just could not be bothered and after waiting she gave a glare for asking are you serving at this widow. She wasn't serving anyone at the time.

Nice and small fish & chips store. Great food and service. The harbour and sea are visible and it's a quiet zone away from the tourists.

You can't come to Whitby and not have a fish and chip supper!! We had small cod and chips with pickled onion and large cod and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce. Ate in. Staff lovely. Food really tasty and great portions.

Food was ok. Mushy peas were tasteless. Fish and chips were good. We also asked for chips and gravy. The chips were served but were eaten before the gravy arrived. One of the men serving was extremely rude to customers. He told one customer if he didn't like it there were plenty of other chip shops. The customer left the shop. Another man was told off for helping himself to kitchen roll. We accepted the staff were under pressure because it was Goth Weekend. However, this is not an excuse to be rude to paying customers.

We just asked for a dairy free ice cream and the layde who served it was so rude... The ice cream wasn't really good either. There are better places with better ice cream and nice people at the other side

As a family we were enjoying the meal until I collapsed from heart issues. The staff and owner were amazing in keeping my kids distracted which included staying open just for them. I can't express how grateful I am for their compassion towards my family in such a traumatic time. Food was lovely from what I remember. Again thankyou so much.

Faultless local fish and chips - actually the best I've had in a very long time.

Very busy day in Whitby but plenty of room to sit and eat, which made me concerned it may not be the best fish and chips in town as everywhere else seemed busy. But to my great pleasure everything was excellent, from the service to the food. Very freshly cooked chips and a wonderfully tasty fish cake. Would recommend without hesitation.

This was my second visit to the fish n chip shop next to the Angel Pub on the harbourside. I had crispy fried breaded Whitebait and chips. My daughter Haddock n chips. Cooked to order and delicious. Recommmend you try it either as a take away or sit in to eat.

Nice fish n chips, excellent curry sauce. Never been to a chippy before with a sign on the wall that tells you what boat the fish was caught on. Local Whitby through and through.
