New Shanghai in Thanet

I've been ordering from this place for well over a year now and it's not once let me down. Food always turns up on time if not earlier (usually earlier so bonus), always full of flavour and every time it arrives piping hot and fresh. Prices are reasonable, can easily spend £15 on just myself and still have enough for the next day. I can easily say New Shanghai is the best Chinese in the area if not the best I've personally experienced. Only downside is that it's cash only but in my eyes it's absolutely worth it.

First time of using and the food was delicious, hot and took us back to the old days when Chinese takeaway tasted really good and delivered promptly ! Would recommend !

The wife said it was the worse chinese takeaway she'd ever had! Greasy, no taste and with no vegatables in the noodle dishes. Unfortunately, she chose hunger than eat the food.

So bad Worst Asian food I ever had, actually I am not even sure it was food.. A big lump of what appeared to be rice noodles in some red sandy paste, tiny peaces of ‚meat‘ that were dark and dry and tasted off, virtually no vegetables apart from 3 slices of pepper. Tasteless, worthless junk I did not want to do that to my body so I binned almost all of it. It is cheap yes and the lady at the counter was friendly it took only seconds to process the order but you can’t eat that seriously

Food arrived 15 minutes. Wow that was quick we thought... Sadly family went down with food poisoning last night after eating takeaway. Thought it was quick.

Very good food from this takeaway always, the portions are a good size, the food tastes really delicious, the staff behind the counter are always courteous and helpful even if you ask for something stupid. Prices are very reasonable and you don't have to wait too long for your food. Recommended.

This is a great takeaway for if you're in Margate for a couple of days and want a more chilled evening in one night. The food is delicious, and it's definitely the best takeout I've had in Margate. I can't fault it!

Really yummy, great veggie options including the mock duck which is a perfect meat alternative! Good value and service too.

We have lived in the area for 3 years, have tried many Chinese takeaways, New Shanghai is the best by a country mile.

We ordered online for my mums birthday. The food was very late and all the restaurant said was they are not sure what the driver is doing. Food was cold when it arrived. Not happy or yummy !

The reviews were so positive that we decided to order and we were not disappointed. The food was fresh and lovely. We went for our usual favourites as we did not have a menu, so I thought I'd post it here in case it helps others (menu was brought with our food). Payment is cash only.

Rude they don't tell me it's cash only so I have to walk and get money out have to pay to get money out and then they give me the wrong order and say its my fault I should listen properly

As someone who comes from Asian heritage, having lived in Hong Kong for 10 years and Australia for 15 years, both of which have excellent standards in Asian cuisine; you can be sure that I do know good Chinese food when I taste it... Well I think that New Shanghai is the best Chinese food I’ve tasted in my time living in England. This tastes like the proper Chinese food I got when I was living in Asia Pacific. Well done, New Shanghai. I honestly feel a food writer should be jotting this place down.

First time of using the New Shanghai last night very impressed 👏 super food , portion size is on the large size, but we will not get out Chinese food anywhere else now.

Great food, freshly prepared, great prices. Lots of good veggie options. The salt and pepper squid is really something. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious! I’ve ordered king prawns in black bean sauce and green pepper. Everything was fresh, juicy, flavoured, yummy. And the lady from the reception very nice and professional. Strongly recommend this place.

Ordered salt & chilli spare ribs, which were the best you can get & believe me I’ve tried a lot. The duck was also extremely good. I’d honestly give this a 10.. super yum

Really good chinese food, fresh and tasty. Good portions. Flexibel kitchen when you want to mix between the dishes on the menu. Salt and pepper king prawn, is a must if you like prawns.
