New Moon in Croydon

We ordered £107 worth of food for 5 of us.. our sweet and sour dishes were totally inedible, the only way it could honestly be decribed was is it tasted like poison, it left an awfully long petrol/ metallic/ rotten taste in your mouth and left my mother and her partner violently sick throughout the night, even though they had only 2-3 mouthfuls before having to throw it in the bin. My husband, brother and myself also all had to chuck our entire meal in the bin as the sweet and sour dishes saturated the other items from out order. We complained and explained politely the issues with our order and we're happy with a refund on just the sweet and sour dishes, even though our whole entire meal for all of us were ruined. We were asked to send evidence so had to send dated pictures of us throwing our food in the bin and had to explain further our complaint which we did. They refused a refund and left us as a family £107 out of pocket. Awful service. Awful awful tasting food. Would never order from them again. 2 of my family were violently sick with no apology or refund. Do not order from these guys for your own health and well being!!

Do not ever order from this restaurant It is not in Holland Park as advertised on google maps. Customer service atrocious. Not giving refund and escalated via credit card company. Terrible reviews - do not order from this place ever!!!

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had they was something strange in my food looked like snake pieces I couldn’t eat it I had to throw it away they are very rude when I rang them they hanged up the phone on me very unprofessional please don’t eat here they are disgusting and should be closed down worst Chinese ever just disgusting unfortunately the weird item didn’t upload and it went in the bin if I could rate a 0 I definitely will shocking

We found them on Just Eat but due to a website glitch our payment wouldn't process. Phoned up and had to explain three times what a green curry is, but finally placed order, though the delivery fee had increased from £1.50 to £3. 5 minutes later they called back to say that as we're 4 miles away they won't deliver to us, despite us being within their catchment area on Just Eat. We asked to speak to the manager and after being put on hold for ages were told that she doesn't take phone calls because she doesn't speak English, and that the person calling us was hired because he can interpret for her. Avoid.

Ordered food for delivery, came with no rice. Was refused my money back for the rice, management would not speak to me and was hung up on. They can keep the £5...DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE..DISGUSTING customer service!!!!

Food was terrible, had to wait too long for the food. Didn’t receive full order, called back up for correct delivery and customer service was just as awful.

Order not matched some food missing 1portion instead of 2 waiting more than hour for delivery. Not able to solve issue upon delivery. Not recommended at all.

The food was terrible. Everything was greasy, and you could tell the cooking oil was old. Even the prawn crackers looked brown! The samosas was basically an empty shell with literally no filling. The won ton soup was overly salty. The satay king prawns were barely satay, just in a thin liquid that lacked a peanut flavour with the main part of the dish being oversized vegetables. Would NOT recommend at all.

Great pub with a good range of beers and good service. Good atmosphere for an after work drink. Lots of other places to drink and eat nearby. Highly recommended

Wasn't really impressed with the food quality, a bit bland, Didn't enjoy the meal at all, but that was partly due to my own error when ordering the noodles. However I've tasted much better crispy noodles, these were like they had come straight from a packet of cheap supermarket noodles.

Usually good delivery time. Probably just very busy. Food was hot and up to standard.

All the food was beautiful as usual apart from the BBQ sauce which tasted and smelt burnt.

Great food, amazingly lovely people and good prices. Went with 2 kids and they where so welcoming and helpful! Food was quick but very delicious. I've grown up with that place being there when everything around it has come and gone. This is why! Not a posh eat but a good one to have with the family!

Food was very good, the driver don't speak English and for every single questions he just saying OK! ! I will order again for sure...

Ordered a take away from here for the family, it was delicous. Got a selection of dishes and enjoyed everything we ordered. Will defintley be ordering again, would recomend the Duck with plum sauce it is yum.

I phoned the restaurant and I was put on hold. once they finally answered they said I needed to hold again. they did not take my name or address and came back saying 5 minutes! my food turned up 10 minutes after my phone call. no apology nothing!

Food is so good. Restaurant was let down by the fact that my food was delivered nearly 30 minutes late. Should've read the reviews first before ordering from them.

Delivery driver was nice but seemed very lethargic and tired. He was unable to answer a basic question about my order... as in, could not give me more than a vacant blink. He even had to prop himself against the doorframe, and his nails were filthy. I hope the drivers are being looked after and trained in good food standards as they are still handling the food even if not cooking it.

Super speedy but food was below average. I had Szechuan chicken and the sauce was gloopy and bland - not like a Szechuan sauce at all. Stir fried mange tout tasted the same as the Szechuan chicken. I suggest the chefs start producing food that they would be happy to eat themselves.

Really good Chinese. Its always hard to find a good one with decent food, portion sizes and customer service. This one has it all and even extra bits of what I ordered! Thank you! Will definatley order from here again..probably always from here actually. Only small thing is I got a Normal Coke when I ordered Diet Coke but the food more than made up for it. Really recommend so much better than others in the area.

Completely awful delivery service. It took around 1 hour 45 mins to get my food after calling the restaurant 5 times to establish where it is! No compensation offered and no call backs of what was going on. Wouldn't recommend them!

This was so disappointing. The Hong Kong sweet and sour just tasted of vinegar and the chow mein couldn't have possibly been fresh. Really, this meal was a very expensive waste.

Best Chinese food in South Norwood that's why we ALWAYS order from you guys. I've tried quite a few other restaurants in South Norwood but nothing compares to New Moon! Well done and keep it up.

Really quick delivery!!! Amazing food!

We had a delivery from here on a Monday a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing, each dish was absolutely delicious. We had another on Thursday last week and it was all terrible - it was about 8.30pm, we were order #1 so they clearly weren't busy but it was honestly as if it had come from another restaurant, absolutely awful. £40+ wasted. Won't be back

Had to wait an extra 30mins plus the 40mins we already waited for the food to arrive smh. If we didn't call regarding the order am sure they would have taken 3years

Absolutely appalling. Driver took ages to get here, phoned three times for directions saying he couldn't find the block of flats, despite being right on the corner of the main road. He arrived 20 minutes later by which time the food was stone cold and virtually inedible

I'm really sad as I always order from this Chinese. Specifically the special fried rice, which this time came with really overcooked meat which also tasted really dry, sweet b sour sauce tasted like vinegar and water. Dissapointed

Food arrived really quickly. Also some of the tastiest tofu dishes and the mock duck was great! Only suggestion would be to portion the duck a bit fairer because you don't have enough for pancakes really. Apart from that 10/10 food and service.

nice a and tasty food except chicken balls so dry and beef too strong... also you should have to make sure that the person answer the phone does speak kind of English... or just don't answer if competent person is not available... its really difficult to talk to someone who doesn't speak English at all..

First time I have ordered from here - food was delivered before the estimated time, generous portion sizes and the food was lovely - shall be ordering again.

I very rarely write reviews but had to based on tonight's meal! This was our 1st time ordering from the new moon & We will definitely be ordering again! It's a Tuesday & my food arrived 10 minutes before it was due, it was lovely & hot, it was delicious, I would even go to say one of the nicest Chinese's I've had in a long while. I do agree with previous reviewers the sauces are runny but taste amazing!!

Food took over 2 hours to come, when it arrived my special fried rice was drowned in soy sauce which I asked not to be used and the whole meal was cold and tasteless. Never order from here again

Duck & pork was a bit fatty, sweet & sour sauce would be better if it was thicker but other than that very nice!

So after having many takeaways from this restaurant via just, tonight they haven't delivered my food to my address. I phoned and asked where it was and they told me I had it. They would not re deliver to the right address and told me to call just eat. They then told just eat that I had my food. Bang out of order. They are refusing to do anything and have pretty much told me tough luck. Don't give new moon your money.

D: agghhh omgg I spend like £17 and am really disappointed. This is for all the veggie's out there. So, tip 1 : NEVER order the Chinese leaves in Garlic Sauce. Just don't. Please just, just don't. You will thank me. Tip 2: Go for one of the Tofu dishes they are alright (lol carrots a bit dogg tho) and if you love rice like me don't get the rice with main for 70p deal - it's not a lot. Next, not a tip but a complaint (big one), the cucumbers with my mock duck were so old that they had formed a gel over them and some were a little mushy :/ made me gag touching them...and that is really unhygienic. Ruined the whole dish because then the spring onion was contaminated as well so my roll was just hoisin sauce and mock duck...which actually isn't very nice on it's own. So yh, I know this was long, but if you've made it through, hopefully u won't make the same mistakes as me (plus I hope the restaurant cleans up their act cus thats not on...). Anyway, all in all probs won't be ordering from here again (except when I'm really desperate). However, as I said, Tofu dishes are fine, so go for that if u need to spend £10.

Food was lovely! No complaints at all. Portion sizes are huge and lots of free stuff the more you spend. I was disappointed that they added an extra half an hour on to the delivery time but surprisingly they come within the first time they gave me. Only half marks for restaurant service as they were nothing special, just average. Nothing wrong with it though. Over all I will definitely be going back to them next time!!!

Food was awful, either completely bland or so spicy it was inedible. Used to be great a few months ago but am assuming the chef has changed. We ate a fraction of it and threw the rest away.

There was to much big chunks of meat in the special fried rice an noodles dish also there wasn't much flavour an the Singapore fry rice wasn't spicy

The duck rolls were pretty good, but the Veggie Curry I got had absolutely no curry in it. I would describe it as cabbage in starch white flavorless sauce. Threw everything away.

Quick delivery but very bad experience. Ordered dim sum pack which were undercooked (the meat was still red inside). The duck Cantonese style was clearly overcooked, as if trying to hide bad meat smell. Only the vegetables were about ok but I threw everything in the bin because I didn't trust the quality of the food. I will not order from them again.
