Great tasty food, attentive staff and very reasonably priced as of time of writing. Would recommend 👍🏻

Cold food, poor service & rude staff. We visited as a family celebration and were disappointed by the rude staff, poor service and food was cold. When mentioned to the staff, they weren't interested. My advice, go elsewhere.

12 of us went to Lahore last night . The building was cold . Staff were unfriendly also when our food came out it was cold we told the waiter and he just walked off . I would not recommend this place and I will not go back .

1st time at this place atmosphere is great

A really lovely traditional Indian restaurant which dates back decades and continues to provide really good food. The waiting staff are chatty and attentive and the food was excellent - probably the best value for money Indian meal I’ve had in Newport so far. Will now be my go-to in town for future meals.

Have become regulars with my partner over the last few months. Excellent service and the food is fantastic. I love the old style chicken pathia and my partners son tried it and preferred it to his own new style Madras. Best curry around in my opinion!

Food is amazing. Plus reasonable prices. All food is piping hot & tasty. Great atmosphere & service is fast. Not many give you choices of method of cooking, Old style or new style.

First experience and Take Away order from this establishment. And last as well. I would not normally give a bad review and do not often complain, but felt I had to on this ocassion. I ordered a number of dishes from the New Lahore (starters, 2 x mains, naan etc.) as a takeaway via Uber Eats. Took approximateyl an hour to arrive , which is not bad for a friday night. Food was just about warm, but the quality of the food was appaling. The sauce was lumpy and grainy and tasted like neat sugar, the chicken stale and tough, the naan bread burnt/blackened. The starter (King Prawn Puri) fared no better. Tasteless. Virtually all went in the bin..... I messaged them the following day, and they did reply and apologised saying that if I had rang when we recieved it, it could have been sorted then. Sadly at 10.30 in the evening, this was of no help. No other offer of any kind was given. Will never use again. It was like something that had been warmed up from the night before. Yuk. For those who like the Lahore, keep on liking it and please remember this is only my personal experience.

The biryani was decent, but the Madras curry stood out as exceptional, especially when paired with Naan. However, the Keema Naan fell short of expectations. Overall, a satisfactory experience deserving of a three-star rating.

Great service, quick delivery & food was piping hot & extremely tasty. I’d happily order from there again. Probably best Lamb Dansak I’ve had for a while. Beats all the other long established restaurants / takeaways hands down.

Fancied trying somewhere different tonight… Very friendly staff on the phone & easy to use the app. The food was delivered piping hot within the hour & was/is one of the best takeaways we’ve had. We often order from other well established curry houses in Newport, but the New Lahore is a cut above the rest. I chose Lamb Dansak (old style). I love a good Lamb Dansak, but have been underwhelmed for years by the Dansaks in Newport. Most only offer beef or chicken. I was a little apprehensive & didn’t know what to expect. However, the curry certainly was ‘old style’ because it took me back at least 35 years to when I first tried it. The wife & I couldn’t stop saying how delicious the food was - as she ate her chicken Korma. I couldn’t find a fault with the service, delivery or the food. Absolutely stunning. Thankyou for the experience. You are now added to my speed-dial.

Being from Birmingham, I've been spoilt with some really good Indian cuisines..

Ordered food at 7:02pm and was advised via email that delivery would be delayed by 30 mins and to expect delivery 8:32pm. Started phoning at 20:58pm only to be told it would be 5 minutes away. Food was finally received after 9:30pm after 12 phone calls that were not answered from my phone number but answered straight away when called from another number or my landline. Even though the starters were cold and the keema naan separated into two parts the main meals were hot and tasty.

Ordered food for a delivery. It arrived 2 hours after said delivery time. Ordered two traditional old style chicken madras these were not what were delivered. The pomadoms were soggy too. Will never order a delivery again will only have a sit down meal.

Was here for a family dinner for 8. Mr Shah welcomed us and was so lovely. The food was fantastic - good portion size and very flavourful. I was even offered the special dansak sauce that they're famous for! It was a really special birthday night, thank you to everyone there!

We were a party of 8 celebrating a family birthday from out of Town. We were treated exceptionally by all the staff and chef was keen for my (Pakistani) brother in law to try his special sauce - very yummy. Had a very warm and homely ambiance. Food was delicious - hot and fresh, and generous portion sizes.

Great food cooked the old fashioned way. The old fashioned beef madras has made my husband very happy. Need I say any more. Yummy.

Service was extremely slow. Took over an hour for the food to be served after 2 reminders. Food taste OK but not justifiable for the wait. Went there not too hungry but after the wait, we were famished but not risking adding any more orders.

Ordered Tuesday 28th March as google said the restaurant was open, paid for my takeaway online at 5:40pm, 7:40pm food hasn't been delivered as restaurant was shut. The restaurant took money and somehow was able to throught the website, even though it was shut. (Had to drive to the shop to confirm this) Recieved an email the following day saying the food has been reordered, and ready at 5.13pm. Currently 7:20pm and had to call the restaurant as food still hasn't been received. Had to reorder again to confirm I want my order and will now take 1 hour to reach me. I appreciate that they had tried calling me but it is not good enough especially as the order was paid for on a day where the restaurant was shut. - this should not happen

Asked if their chips were gluten free and was told they are just fried potatoes so they will be fine? when questioned further and asked if they could double check with the chef (which they didn’t) was told to just not have them. Terrible customer...

It had been too long since my last visit to this old favourite. I persuaded some friends to make this our monthly meet up for January and everybody was impressed. Diners had an array of dishes from new style, old style, specials, fruity and hot....

Not the best place I've ever been for an Indian, but very tasty and value for money. I do recommend and will definitely be returning.

So far the best Indian subcontinent food joint I’ve tried in Newport city. Very close to the city centre, this restaurant has a huge menu with plenty of options. They have a signature menu and drinks menu apart from the regular menu. The restaurant has an amazing ambience as well, with a a very spacious dining area. The old person who’s the owner/ manager was very friendly and courteous. We tried Veg Jalfrezi, Lahori Biriyani, Grill platter, Tikka starter, Paneer starter, Pappadam with chutney bowl and hot beverages. All the food we tried were amazing and worth the money. The only negative id think of is that there are no chai/ desi drinks on their menu, apparently because they don’t sell much in this British dominated area. Have been using Lahore for 50 years these days mostly takeaway. My birthday 6 of us decided to eat at restaurant. The curries sauce was thick as if warmed up. the pints of coke were flat and we were all cold. It's a shame wont bother again after all these years of eating at Lahore.

Had a korma and a tikka from this place . The food was made quickly and the korma was OK but the tikka tasted like somebody started cooking it and gave it to us half way through . No taste at all and gave me bad belly after. Really surprised as this place was always recomended to me .

I have been eating from this restaurant for over 50 years I have never been able to get a better Curry from anywhere I've been and that includes my travels all over European countries. Shockingly bad delivery, fobbed off by the restaurant every time we called to ask where our food was with “it’s on its way”. No apologies. As at at the time of writing, we are still awaiting our order some 2 and a half hours after ordering. Very poor!

I ordered a meal for two people just after 5pm and was given a delivery time of 18.30 , the order turned up at 19.30 with no notification of the delay even though the New Lahore terms and conditions stated that email confirmation of order and updates would be supplied. I refused the order as I had tried numerous times 29times to be precise on the phone to cancel the order only to be answered by a constant engaged tone. Why promise a delivery time with a posh order received, accepted , cooking , on the way and being delivered if this doesn't work ? Highly recommend The new Lahore only to be monumentally let down !

We usually order from other Indians but read about the reviews for The New Lahore and thought we would give it a try as the reviews were so good. We were not disappointed! It was absolutely delicious! We will be ordering from The New Lahore from now on! The chips were different but in a good way! Everything was so tasty and most importantly the sauce on the chicken tika massala was not watery at all. Overall, absolutely delicious!! We highly recommend!

My family have been using the Lahore since it opened in 1960's. The curry is of excellent quality, very enjoyable and served by friendly staff. I would buy curry from nowhere else....10/10
