New Inn, Pentregat in Ceredigion

Our first visit to the restaurant and DEFINITELY not our last. We have been to quite a few restaurants locally in past few years. But this gem of a find is by far the best carvery we have EVER had. All the family said the same and my wife also said the desert was to die for (personally, I don't know how she had room for it). We will definitely be going again, to try the main meals, also they are dog friendly, but can you let them know in advance when booking a table.

There was only one vegan option but it was very good: a broad bean burger, which was really tasty and probably homemade, I think. Portions were substantial and all my group enjoyed their (non vegan) dishes. Staff were very helpful and considerate and I appreciated their efforts to make sure my meal was properly vegan.

Booked for 13 people at late notice. The restaurant was great with us. The food was the best we had had for a long time when eating out.

Typical local pub fare. Quality good as was the service. Had an enjoyable meal. Bar area was noisy as there is a 5 to 6 pm happy hour which attracts many when we were there. Restaurant is in adjacent room and is fairly small so suggest you book ahead.

We've been here before and had fabulous meals. Now they have changed the lunchtime menu to smaller snacks. Although the food we had was great, there was little choice. It was disappointing as we had brought friends with us to enjoy the previous excellent lunch menu. The puddings are still great.

Booked here after reading good reviews as we were staying in Cardigan celebrating a 70th. The reviews wernt wrong. Excellent friendly waiter and bar staff. Food was delicious! Highly recommend

Popped in to this pub on way back to Gilfachreda and so glad we did. The food was fantastic, the Aromatic Bean Burger was one of the best burgers ever tasted. The fish basket was also well cooked and gave a sample of squid, prawn cod and whitebait. Dogs are welcome which adds to the experience.

I went with a friend for lunch and the staff were helpful and polite, we both had jacjet potatoes we fillings and they were just lovely. Other times we have been we have had bacon butties and breakfast

AMAZING, MOUTH-WATERING, DELICIOUS food!!! We were in the area for a weekend break and having arrived in the dark, we were driving around trying to find somewhere to eat and stumbled across The New Inn. We were greeted warmly and taken to a sweet little restaurant area and seated. Drinks were brought and our order taken quickly. My son ordered a burger and my daughter fish and chips, whilst I had sweet potato falafels and when the food arrived we were gobsmacked. The burger was easily the biggest, juiciest burger I have ever seen and the fish was gargantuan. The amount of chips was huge and my small falafels (only a starter for me due to a gastric sleeve) were soooo tasty. I can honestly say the food was hands-down, the best food we have ever eaten and we were heartbroken at not being able to get in the following night for dinner due to them being full. We did however go back again today for Sunday Lunch and yet again, STUNNING!!! We have now returned home and you have ruined it for us regarding going out for food anywhere else!! We will be returning to the area in the summer and will book in for all evening meals!! I cannot recommend this pub highly enough. The staff were lovely and friendly, cute place and the best food we have ever eaten. Get booking!!!

Excellent food, we had the Christmas dinner specials and thoroughly enjoyed! Highly recommend the tempura prawn starter and beef bourguignon main. Lovely friendly atmosphere and the staff are so welcoming and professional. Will definitely return!

Had a Sunday carvery. Will definitely go to have another one. Very generous portions. Very reasonably priced. Definitely worth going if you’re staying in the area. Or even just passing by.

I would definitely recommend this pub. The staff & the regular customers were the friendliness people you could wish to meet. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious & I would definitely go back.

Had a delicious Sunday carvery lunch. The owner offered to hold our two dogs whilst we went to the carvery. Thank you, we have never had such pleasant service before.

My husband & I had the Belly of Pork from the new winter menu and my son had the Buttermilk chicken burger. Absolutely delicious. We’ll be returning very soon to sample the other delights on new menu.

Great food slightly too far from our cottage to walk but popped in a few times for food and drinks including the lovely roast, friendly attentive staff check it out if in area

Waited patiently till the 5 o'clock hour and went back to the restaurant, placed my order garlic and mushroom ciabata delivered promptly and very nice,and for my main I had steak and ale pie with skin on fries and my wife had the salmon and prawn tagliatelle, again sufficient gap my pie fresh puff pastry and packed with chunky steak cooked to perfection and my wife proudly acclaimed fresh pasta and the fish to in a creamy tomato and garlic sauce

A friendly pub with very helpful staff and home cooked food. In these tricky times they also implemented the COVID controls very professionally which made us feel very safe.

We stayed fairly near this pub and were told that it was a 'local' place to eat. It did not look much from the outside, just a traditional pub but the food provided was very good indeed. There was a good choice (considering COVID restrictions in place so numbers limited) of meals. They were fesh ingredients, home made in most cases, very tasty and very good portions. We enjoyed it so much we went back again later in the week and although it was extremely busy ouside (large number of bikers) the staff still gave very good service and the food was still as good, piping hot and tasty. Prices were quite reasonable.The arrangements for COVID that the pub had in place made us feel safe.A very good pub for a meal.

Visited here with some of my family and thoughly enjoyed it!! Because of COVID they managed to put us all together on separate tables in a little side room that they had. We had a variety of different dishes including lasagne, chicken curry and the big favourite fish pie which was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked again for the Saturday, pre-ordering 7 fish pies! When we couldn't visit on the Saturday due to a few of my family members feeling unwell we called them to see if we could take the food away so that it didn't go to waste. They provided all of the plates and cutlery that we needed and could not of been more helpful!! Loving pub ran by lovely people!

Absolutely delicious, home cooked food with great service. Plenty of food and good value for money. Good safety measures in place too with lots of social distancing.

Just had good home-cooked meals at this roadside pub. Booked and gave our order over phone so that when we turned up food was on the table in 10 minutes, soon after drinks arrived!We all enjoyed hearty, tasty meals, lasagne, (veggie and meat options) and liver and onion. All done with Covid safety spacing.

Under Covid restrictions best to book. A nice quiet pub. Greeted with a friendly smile under the mask Table Service was polite and pleasant. Plenty of room and well spaced out . Our meals were very nice too . The puddings just as nice .

Given a very warm welcome on arrival, and offered a table for two in the restaurant area or the bar. The bar has a lovely cosy feel and old school local charm. The carvery was superb, I’d liken it to the lovely ones you had at your grandparents house. Select you meat(s) and help yourself to the veg. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The serving staff were all friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be at work. A good selection of seasonal ales behind the bar too. Deserts were home made and as good as the mains. Well worth a visit.

Called in for Lunch when passing. Just really wanted a Light Bite. Very Disappointed with what we had- basically only s sort of Starters for 2 persons. (Soup) Quite expensive for what we had Around the £24.00 ish for 2 soups .1x wine and 1x pint larger Shandy.. Dont have the enthusiam to call again !!!

We visited here last night as a party of 24 to celebrate dad’s 70th. We had a lovely friendly welcome from the word go, nothing was too much trouble at all. Food was great and the home made puddings superb! Will definitely visit again.

As soon as you walk through the door you are totally relaxed by the friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely menu and the food is excellent and plentiful. If you are in the area BBC make sure you don’t miss it

This is a community pub, with lots of activities going on, most of them regular events but some "one-offs" like the recent 24-hr Danceathon. We belong to the Thursday lunch club for oaps, play bingo on Friday evenings, often enjoy a super Sunday carvery, and a monthly quiz, not to mention some outings. Why not go along and find out for yourself. The welcome is great and the food superb.

Driving along the road looking for an evening meal and came across the New Inn. A warm welcome at the bar, table for 2 was no problem. The restaurant area was neat and tidy. Food was well prepared, got and tasty. Staff very helpful. All together a pleasant dining experience. Prices good for the area. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

We went to The New Inn for an evening meal on the last day of a lovely holiday in the area. The service is brilliant and the staff are very friendly. Our food order was taken and we were offered the choice of staying in the bar until our food was ready.

We like going here. We stay in the area a few times a year and the New Inn is basically reliable. This time around the fillet steaks we had were quite superb - one rump, one fillet. Both cooked to perfection. Staff friendly, Mike beaming and welcoming as usual. Well done folks you're all a gem.

A large family of 16 people were catered for in the 'back room'. We booked for the carvery on a Wednesday night. It's a small pub but caters very well for visitors and locals alike. The carvery was very basic but the food was plentiful and very nice. A family cooked type meal. The staff were very attentive, polite and helpful. I would recommend this pub for a meal.

We visited on August Bank holiday Monday at teatime. Friendly staff and good choice of delicious food. I had the homemade veg chilli, hubby had gammon, daughter had meatballs which she said were superb. Been before when visiting this area and would definitely go again. Puds good too. I had toffee apple bread and butter pudding, hubby had Bailey's and Tia Maria cheesecake and daughter had choc fudge cake. Reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Would recommend

Wow what a gem of a place for Sunday lunch one of the best I’ve ever experienced. I have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic restaurant and here’s a first if your too full after your lunch they will even do a takeaway dessert. Give yourselves a test you won’t be disappointed.

Very friendly service, good food and fairly priced. We would recommend this pub to anybody, and when in Cardigan it is our choice for food.

This is the first time i have been back to this pub for several years , i will NOT be back . Had to wait nearly an hour for our meals and never before have i had a lasagne without pasta !!!! , just a bowl of mince covered in sauce . Added to which the chips looked as if they had been reheated over and over again . Very disappointed .

SItuated in a great location on the A487 near Brynhoffnant, we visited the pub, had a warm welcome, great service and enjoyed our drinks of real ale, served in perfect condition, in the large beer garden. Menu had a wide choice although we were only here for drinks today. Good parking, clean pub, gardens and toilets, so it was a pleasing visit.

We came here for our last holiday tea before going home. It was awful. Bits of food came out at different times, the fried egg came and was black from the pan it was half cooked in. The garlic bread they thought suitable to serve to a young child would have broken teeth, it had been cooked the day before and just warmed up, it was disgusting. The chips came at different times and were different colours, chef had clearly forgotten about the second bowl sitting in the fryer. It was an absolute joke of a meal and left us feeling really gutted, we had eaten on a budget so far and blew the last of our money on what we hoped was a love restaurant meal. It really hurt to pay the bill and the manager didn’t give a toss that we had been served such rubbish food, disgusting arrogance and very weirdly decorated. Total freak show of an establishment I wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Just in off the coast near Llangranog and New Quay and on the main A487 from Cardigan to Aberystwyth. We visited here last year for Sunday lunch, which was excellent, and returned this year at Saturday lunch time. Once again, it was noticeable how spotless the pub is and the energy of the staff in doing all they can to attract trade with various event nights through the week. I had the chilli con carne and my wife, not a big eater, had the smaller portion lasagne, which was more than enough for her. Good all round experience, excellent service and a well kept pint (or two) of Felin Foel, unusual for this area being a Llanelli brew.

What can I say but fabulous!! Certainly not a gastropub, it was a whole lot better!! Plentiful, freshly cooked and very very tasty. Lovely staff and made to feel very welcome. Dog friendly too so long as well behaved, as they should be. We had a rump and fillet steak both cooked to perfection. Rump medium, slight pink and juicy. Fillet medium rare, pinker but as requested. Great place highly recommended!!

Called today for sunday lunch with the family lovely staff and food was very nice salad to start was good and the lunch was very good the chef was very accommodating to the fact he serves families together so that they eat together no matter if there was others in queue very nice touch! Would definitely return!

Just home from a fantastic homemade family dinner at New Inn. Great service and very friendly. We all enjoyed our meals and the puddings were delish! Definitely be back before we head home on Friday!

Stopped here for a meal while on holiday in nearby Aberporth. Food was decent and plentiful and good value. Would recommend.

We have quite a few allergies in the family and this pub was so amazing at catering for these. First time in a long time that all of our family has been able to have a choice of puddings that happened to be dairy free and were delicious!!! The staff were welcoming and friendly and the standard of food was overall great. Highly recommend this pub if you’re in the area!!

Visited the New Inn for the first time today and it will not be the last! We have sited our caravan in cardigan and have been looking for a great lunch and today we found it. From the minute we got there we felt welcomed first by the barman then the waitresses. Had a lovely salad while we waited and were then called for the Carvery by a lovely friendly man. Food was amazing we had all three meats with cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puds, roast potatoes and lovely range of fresh vegetables. Food was simply lush. We managed some home made cheesecakes for desert and they were also yummy. The owner spoke to us and made us feel very welcome. We have booked for next Sunday and feel this will become

Got a cancellation so came here , what can I say the landlord welcomes us ,3 children first to the Carvery! Interested in grandchildren which made an impact , as don’t get this nowadays,Sat down had starter saled. coleslaw rice and pasta . Now ready for Carvery, so much food perfectly cooked , 2 meats melt in your mouth , great vegetables ,service very good ,nothing too much trouble ,would recommend, glad we made it if in area again will come back , worth the 31 minute drive.

We called in to ask if they were serving Sunday Lunch to be informed that the carvery had been cleared away. They quickly sent to the kitchen to ask if it was still possible to serve food. Very quickly the answer came back that they could plate-up dinners if that worked for us.

10/10 for food quality and service. Whilst it was not a ‘normal’ evening for them, they specially accommodated for 11 of us to eat and enjoy our annual event at the New Inn. Great night, thank you :-)

We have eaten here on many occasions. We had the Sunday carvery today and highly recommend. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the landlord is a real charmer. Good old fashioned hospitality and dog friendly.

Went here for my grandmothers birthday, a party of 6 of us, very welcoming when arrived and even put a car away for us. There’s a salad bar that you help yourself to pre carvery and then you go up to the carvery when called, the only thing I can pick at is this bit is rather small so anymore than 6 people there it gets a little crowded. Food was terrific very tasty and plenty of it, even my fussy grandmother eat most of her food.

Haven't been to this pub for many years and very pleased that we've decided to return.

Came here for dinner after a walk on Mwnt beach. The pub is on the road between Cardigan and Aberystwyth and looks like a proper road side pub with ample parking outside. The landlord was very welcoming and had us sat quickly with drinks and a very good menu. I chose the chicken special Mrs Stingy chose the lamb shank. There was a bit of a wait for the food but when it arrived there was a lots of it and it was nicely cooked. We dint have desert but what the table next to us were having looked very nice. Our meal wasn’t expensive but no idea what the sweet would have cost. No WiFi which is a shame as I was getting no phone service. When we left the car park was pretty full which to my mind proves the popularity of the pub.

What can I say! What a fabulous pub. We have visited 3 times now and have not had a bad experience once. We are a large family consisting of 12, we have all eaten and have enjoyed every mouthful. The main menu has a great selection and Sunday carvery is superb. My favourite are the puddings. All homemade and absolutely delicious. I feel what sets this pub aside tho are the staff. The young team that work there are fantastic, so welcoming and friendly. The garden is great for lazy summer nights, my kids had lots of fun competing in races on the lawn

Popped in on the off chance to see if there were any tables. Serving staff were awesome. Made room for us outside which was fine as it was a warm day. Carvery was incredible. Top quality meat and veg. Well worth a visit.

Came upon this restaurant by chance. Enjoyed a delicious carvery, following a complimentary salad. Staff were helpful and cheerful and did their job proffessionally.

Recently met up with some friends here for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, the service good and mein host perfect! I can't recommend it highly enough.

A quiet supper of good cooking, in a clean restaurant attached to the bar with parking and well cut lawns surrounding it, founded in 1770s it has kept folk well fed for more than a couple of centuries. A pleasant place to stop.

Went for a birthday meal recently with my family and the pub was very welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Not one thing wasn't finished. Wide variety of food to chose from. Would highly recommend:)

Call in at lunchtime, asked if we could bring in our hound, no problem in the bar. Thursday lunch club excellent ham egg and chips meat was very tasty not salty. Has been made into a community hub with lots of things going on.

We stayed over the weekend in a lovely cottage in llangrannog and on our last evening we decided to go out for dinner and found this wonderful little pub/restaurant. I had beef stroganoff and my partner had a t bone steak we both enjoyed it and the staff and landlord were very friendly and made us feel very welcome

Went here on mothering Sunday lovely meal had by all. A nice touch to give a rose to each lady on the table... will be back.

Myself and my boyfriend went here for dinner and bingo on a Friday night. Whilst the bingo was not to our liking (feeling like the odd one out due to our age and not being locals) the rest of the pub was brilliant! Food was great, did seem expensive to start with but the quality and look of food is great! The pudding list is extensive as well! There is lots of parking and has a function room, bar and restaurant. It also has a darts board which we had a go at which was great fun and even the gentlemen behind the bar got involved which was lovely. The staff are very friendly and attentive which made the night extra special!! Highly recommend this for food, drinks and a great chat with the staff!

We stopped here after our usual restaurant was fully booked. After the manager checking of there was enough food left (carvery was about to finish)for the four of us (2 adults/2children), we were seated in a lovely large dining area which was quiet.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Lovely friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. We especially noticed they went out of their way to accommodate special diets (after being pre-warned) and several people with mobility problems were served at the table. Serve yourself salad starters, generous portions of meats, loads of vegetables and we still managed a sweet. There's even the option of taking a sweet home if the meal beats you! We'll be back!

We called in after seeing the Wednesday Carvery advertised outside. We weren't disappointed, two meats and as much veg as you could eat and a good variety, including homemade broccoli/cheese bake. Visited here today during our holiday,after booking following recommendation from a local. We wanted somewhere with good food and generous portions to feed two teenage boys who are always hungry! We were not disappointed. We where greeted with a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival and taken straight to our table although we were half an hour early. As well as the delicious carvery you can help yourself to complimentary salad bowls while you wait for your tables turn to be served. Beef, Turkey and pork we're on offer all delicious and plentiful. Also a good choice of veg...cauliflower cheese was amazing, roast and creamy mashed potatoes. Throughout our whole visit all the staff where friendly and attentive without being to 'in your face'. We all managed to squeeze in a pudding and there was a good varied choice of these but the lemon, lime and ginger cheesecake was to die for.

We stumbled on this pub on a wet Tuesday lunchtime, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we opened the front door the service was excellent, with lots of friendly smiling staff. The turkey carvery lunch was excellent - we were advised that the house rule was that nobody should leave the pub hungry, and my wife and I were happy to oblige. Not only did we have as much turkey as we could eat, we had a variety of vegetables together with yorkshire puddings and gravy. It was hot and delicious, so much so that we have booked for tomorrow night's roast beef carvery!

Estoy muy local, pero no ha estado a la nueva Inn por muchos años, creo que no tenemos una gran comida allí hace años. De camino al hospital, llamado aber para comer el domingo recientemente, y me sorprendió gratamente. El servicio de atención al cliente era muy superior a la mayoría de los lugares, reconoció tan pronto como entró, por el propietario, creo, todo el personal era muy eficiente, todos sonrientes, y nada era demasiado problema. Personal se tiempo para charlar al bebé en nuestro grupo, y todos ellos se apresuró a asegurarse de que todo estaba bien. El carvery era excelente, no me puedo quejar, caliente, sabroso, abundante, genial. Los postres eran igualmente buenas, en cantidades muy grandes, posiblemente el mejor postre que he probado, estaba demasiado lleno para mover después! Todos en nuestro grupo acordó que habíamos reservado el mejor lugar en el que podría tener para nuestro almuerzo, todos volveríamos. Me di cuenta el lugar rápidamente llenar con diners cuando nos íbamos, la mayoría parecía ser la gente, y nosotros la gente de suss mejores lugares para comer! Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Super amable, excelente servicio al cliente y comida de primera clase. Atendidos sin gluten sin problema y sin duda volveremos. Uno de los mejores Domingos almuerzos que hemos tenido.

El personal de la recepción era muy amable y muy complaciente y el menú parecía muy prometedor. Desgraciadamente, la comida era sosa standard comida de pub. Filete de bacalao rebozado básico, unseasoned y verduras sosas. Los scampi era un particular decepción. trozos de gambas, con corte de la vía digestiva en un adjunto aún breadcrumbed shell. Cuando me quejé y mostró el personal la caca en mi comida ilícitos track hijas la camarera o camarera era encantadora y se disculparon, informando que es comprado como es que hecha en el lugar. El chef, sin embargo, insistieron en que era cómo wholetail cigalas se supone para ser servido. Yo no creo. Un nuevo chef y este lugar lo haría muy bien.

We called one evening after passing many times, it was just the usual Ding dinner you get in country inns in the area, it was quick and probably cooked miles away and assembled in the kitchen you can go to many roadside eating places in France an it freshly cooked local food, for less money..

We dropped in for Sunday lunch, we hadn't made a reservation but we were found a table. The restaurant was very busy and the quality of the food and service is testament to how busy they were. The carvery was great, well organised and well presented. We couldn't manage dessert but other people did and the portions were huge.We definitely recommend The New Inn but do make a reservation.

Called here and had Sunday lunch while on holiday in New Quay it was superb in fact it was so good we booked for the following Wednesday evening it did not disappoint the 2 steaks we had were excellent can't wait to be back on holiday again

passing this pub decided to stop and give it a go, it was weekend and thought it was not going to be tables available, we got inn and managed to seat.- the staff very friendly - food was nice- atmosphere was ok - clean - good with family's with small children's and plenty car park spacein all this pub is nice, and will def. will go back if around. enjoy it.
