New Inn Hotel Restaurant in Denbighshire

This is a village local, it was Friday night, and people were perhaps over-refreshed but in a welcoming and friendly way. It was quite quiet and the pub closed at midnight. The noisiest people to leave were predominantly staff, but I always feel that if they spend their hard earned cash in the same place that they earned it is a good sign. Personally I would have been happier if they had a cask ale available but other than that a good night was had tonight.

Never again. We booked for a fathers Day meal and liked the look of the menu. We arrived and went to our table as we were shown at the bar. As all our table arrived, we ordered our food. Staff weren't very knowledgeable and were told we could only have 2 courses. we then asked, but the menu says we can have 3. The young lady replied, "Oh yes, you can." We ordered Starters, and we wanted to order 2 kids starters. we were told well kids don't need starters, wow really is this how you treat customers with children?" Our children wanted starters, so we asked if we could have cheesy garlic bread, which looked like a struggle with the staff response. We were checked on waiting for our food to arrive. Staff member said everything ok with your food, and we hadn't even had anything yet.Food came in drips and droves not together 5-10 mins at a time. We were then told we needed to be out at a certain time as they needed the table fine, but we hadn't even had our main course. We then had to wait for our main course roast dinners again 5-10 mins wait for everyone to get the food. I couldn't fault the food tbh was lovely but we skipped the deserts as we didn't want to wait anymore, and we were put off with the way we were treated. We noticed all the staff were very young and didn't look like a manager was in sight bit of a free for all really. It's a shame because it could really be perfect with customer service training and a bit of attention here and there.

We have been coming to Rhuddlan for several years now and we have become aware of a group of young lads that can’t be much older that 18 (I assume they have proof of age) in the village frequenting the local pubs. On this occasion early on Saturday it was the New Inns turn to host them. Their behavior and language is abhorrent, they are left to get extremely drunk swear, make derogatory remarks about females and generally ruin the atmosphere in the pub. All this goes on unchallenged from the bar staff who appear to think it’s ok or are not strong enough to say anything, needless to say it ruined our visit on this occasion.

Went for a meal , lovely bar staff, good choice on the menu. We both chose the burger meal. The meal was well presented and a good size portion.The chips were delicious. The owner has done a lot to the place over the last few years and it looks great. The old carpark at the back now has pods ,each with their own TV and a childrens area.

Well what a little or rather big oasis of outdoor seating at the back here 👍 Wooden Pods with TV, lighting and heating. Picnic tables, cushioned seated area and a large children’s play area. From the front looks just like a nice hotel and pub and inside has been tastefully decorated. All areas immaculate including the kitchen (had a sneakily look in) nice toilets and lots of food night offers, quiz night, free pool and jukebox offer on a Tuesday night. Had no idea this was here in lovely Rhuddlan high street with Rhuddlan castle just around the corner. Car park just a walk away. Homemade foods on the menu 👏👏👏We tried the chilli and beef lasagne, very tasty they were too. About right prices and good choices on the menu. Great service too 👍

Fantastic Sunday lunch once again. Beautiful tender meat ,crispy roast potatoes, fluffy mash and tasty vegetables ,gravy to die for!

An amazing place to bring your family.,they have pods in the back garden that cater for private family occasions,and comfy tables inside by the fire...proper good pub grub and drinks

We went in as a family of 4 for some dinner and although the food was ok the smokey tunnel to get in and out was not great. Positives There is a good selection of food and drink. The service was good and the staff were happy to recommend food. The seating area at the back is fantastic and a great space for anyone. The play area was also a great addition and we were happy allowing our kids to play out of eye shot. A friendly and safe space. Negatives The only way in and out of the back seating area is through one door which some of the staff and I am assuming regulars kept blocking. They were all smoking and it was quite disgusting having to walk through them (especially when they have built a smoking section in the back garden). The smoke was also going into the kitchen as the door was wide open next to them. This is overall a good place to visit for food and drink and the kid/outdoor space is fantastic. We would be happy to visit again.

There was a choice of, Beef, Turkey, Ham. Lam shank a supplement. It was nice and hot with nice veg too, well worth a visit.

Three of us went for a ‘Festive’ meal here last night. Well, we’ve always had good food here previously and I have to say we weren’t disappointed! It was really lovely. Sitting in a cosy bar next to a roaring fire eating a most delicious Christmas dinner, complete with Yorkshire pudding, what’s not to like! Would definitely recommend.

Yet another scrummy meal with our friends at this friendly local. Food excellent, service excellent. Thank you Alison for looking after us, nothing was too much trouble.

We phoned ahead to see if we needed to make a booking and was told that it wasn’t necessary. When we arrived 45 minutes later the young waiters were unsure whether or not they could accommodate our family of 4. A free pod in the garden was found but there was confusion amongst staff whether we we should order from them or via the app. We order with the waiter in the end. The food was average - definitely not a fresh, homemade lasagne and the garlic bread was like you’d buy from the supermarket. Dessert sundaes are in plastic containers and slid into a glass to be served. The standard is fair for what they charge. One of my cards was declined and I was given a void receipt and paid our bill with a different card. Unfortunately the payment was still taken from the first card which I am now having to claim back.

Me and my husband have just spent 3 nights in this pub/hotel. Absolutely faultless. The staff are amazing, the food is too! We were treated with respect from the minute we walked in. Spotless room with en suite. We asked if they had a fan as it was so so hot and one appeared! Nothing was too much trouble. The landlord/owner Steve is so accommodating, Zara who works there is non stop making sure everyone is looked after. Would highly recommend a stay and we will definitely be going back. 5* Money has been invested in the garden at the rear. Individual pods on a booking system to ease the way through the pandemic 👍👍

We booked a meal for 2 of us the pods looked nice but the cushions were filthy asked for a pot of tea for 1 tea arrived in a cup only no spoon no saucer and a little jug half full of milk asked the waiter don’t you serve tea in a pot and a saucer he said I don’t know. Food was frozen supermarket standard tasteless could see the bins from where we were sitting dirty..asked for a glass of tap water had enough asked for bill they had charged us £1.50 for a glass of tap water we didn’t pay that glad I wasn’t a dog. Will not recommend food terrible very disappointed

Absolutely disgraceful service. My 16 yr old and her 3 friends went tonight to have a meal. Ordered food on the app and paid. They were then informed that the pub wasn’t serving food even though they had already paid!!! Will refund in 2/3 working days. They had even phoned before to check that food was being served and were told yes. Taking about taking advantage of young people!!! Should be ashamed of themselves.

I stayed for 2 nights in The New Inn and really enjoyed my stay. The room I had (Room 1) was comfortable and was pretty much exactly what you’d need. It was clean and it had a nice shower and comfortable bed. For meals, downstairs has a nice bar area with outdoor spaces too. I hadn’t booked a table for food before I arrived, but the staff were still able to fit me in. The food was nice too and the menu prices were quite low, which was a surprise as usually you expect to pay more when you are in touristy areas. I had tea here both nights. The staff were nice and friendly too. The area is nice too. Rhuddlan has its own castle, which is literally a 2 min walk from the hotel, and is worth a look around. There are loads of places to see in the area for touristy things. Conwy is about 30 mins away by car and Anglesey is just a bit further from there. Gwryrch Castle is also very close by too. The seaside town of Rhyl is just 5-10 mins by car.

While in Rhuddlan we always call in for food and drinks always made to feel welcome by all the friendly staff. Staying over tonight in one of their lovely rooms beautiful decor, cosy and immaculate. Visiting again at the weekend with friends for drinks in...

Tonight was our first foray for a meal with friends since before the first lockdown. We couldn’t have chosen a better place. Heated pod, excellent food and service. We will definitely be eating there again. Thank you New Inn!

Having read upon the place before I visited, I was a touch disappointed. Real, only one hand pump on. Purple Moose was ok though.

We call in here all the time for Sunday lunch when I can’t be bothered cooking and we are never disappointed. Decent quality meat, with loads of veg and all the trimmings. Service is always excellent and for the price; in my opinion, there is no where that compares within the local area.

I used to live in this village and always avoided this pub because the beer was bland and gassy. However there has been a change of ownership and now cask ales are available! Wanted to eat but unfortunately the chef was ill, still enjoyed a very pleasant few pints with old friends. Much improved!

Turned up at the hotel with our dog, it was 4pm and they didn't start serving food until 5pm. We was not turned away, we was advised that the chef was in the kitchen preping for the service and he wouldn't mind cooking for us early. We ordered our food, the food was beautiful, we both enjoyed our food. Our dog sat happily under the table, the hotel is dog friendly, we sat in the bar area, this is the only place that dogs are allowed.

Went for Sunday lunch 6of us where treated to a wonderfully cooked roast great staff value for money will be back soon . Also went Fri nite for a few pints good atmosphere Steve sally and staff excellent hosts

Both the food and the service was not up to standard. Not a very nice experience. My friend and I will definitely not be having lunch there again. When my friend asked for a menu and two coffees, one white and one black, she was immediately informed that they do not do 'fancy coffees' in a belligerent way, Even though these were not asked for. The chips were very dark and obviously reheated.

Love this place. This time we're having Sunday lunch and it's unbeatable. Lovely homemade quality and great value.

We visited after reading good reviews on here. Five of us went for Sunday lunch and decided on the 3 course special but because we waited such a long time for the main course we ended up just having 2.

Stopped in for Sunday lunch after meaning to go for ages and were really pleased we did. Excellent value for money and the roast dinners were tasty and plentiful. I had the beef and the meat was spot on. For £8.95 for 2 courses you can't go wrong. We will be back!!!

Really nice atmosphere! Popped in for dinner whilst in the area. Our dog was welcomed into the bar area with some treats and the food was absolutely delishous! Highly reccommend the Sausage and Mash!

We have just returned from having Sunday Lunch at the New Inn , a party of nine adults and four children. We were warmly welcomed and the the newly decorated dining room was lovely. The food was hot, tasty and plentiful, proper home cooked. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and the service was spot on, all at a reasonable price.It has been twenty odd years since we ate here last but we will be returning soon! Thank you.

Went to the New Inn on Saturday night for a meal to a celebrate my birthday. Dining room has been decorated beautifully and service was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone in the party was delighted with the food. .truly delicious. Children left after the meal and we moved through to the bar. Great atmosphere. .really busy..welcoming and lots of fun. Best night out in ages and couldn't have picked a better venue. Highly recommended.

What a friendly place. Went for Sunday lunch today with my brother and sister and their partners and was most impressed. The service was excellent, the food was first rate. My sister and I both ordered lamb shanks with mint gravy - meltingly tender, just as they should be. The turkey that my brother and sister-in-law ordered looked lovely. Freshly cooked vegetables and home made Yorkshire puddings plus extra gravy on request. The staff couldn't have been more helpful - lovely service with real smiles. I was able to take away a "cat bag" and the 7 month old puppy had a lovely time. What a treat. Will be visiting again as soon as possible.

We had two courses for £8.95 I had homemade soup which was delicious. I then had a beef roast dinner which was gorgeous everyone including the children really enjoyed our food. Will certainly visit again xx

four of us went for sunday lunch with our 2 dogs. we were all made vey welcome and enjoyed a lovely well cooked meal .both dogs were welcomed and given a treat. very rare to find a dog friendly pub with good food. would recommend!

We are holiday ,in the area, and we have a small dog so when it's raining , there isn't many places that will let dogs in.

Went for a curry all the Christmas period I've chicken curry with chips and rice nan bread just like to say it was absolutely brilliant don't be put off other people say about this pub people running it and the waiters are great keep up the good service

We went here today for sunday lunch. what a massive dissapointment. When we eventualy found our food under all the gravy, which was not homemade but obviously a cheap gravy, the veg was tasteless and the mash potato was horrible. obviously everything is bought in frozen from the local supermarket, nothing was homemade at all that is obviouse. after we finnished our dessert we was told the amount to pay. wasnt even asked if everything was ok or offered any tea or coffee, so obviously these rude people just want your money and then for you to leave. the waitresses was rude, and even saw one sat on a surface by the kitchen door, surely that is supposed to be a sanitised area and sanitised surface? there was a spray used for cleaning the tables just left on the table behind us, our table was filthy as was the reserved sign on our table. obviously the salt,pepper and vinegar pot havent been cleaned in months and the music wasnt even seasonal just rubbish. never go here unless you want feozen food, drowned in gravy and to be served by rude staff. absolutely disusting place and service.

Myself and two friends decided to give the pub meals a try...and were not disappointed. The meal was piping hot, homemade chips! Yum and garlic bread was too!! Definitely recommend and we will be going back very soon....Thanks

My wife and I called in for lunch whilst passing through Rhuddlan on 10th October. We received a warm welcome, and we're offered to sit either in the dining room or bar to eat.

when to the New Inn 4th oct 2014 ,4 adults, service was very good,food was very good, portions excellent,would highly recommend.We had four starters and four main meals £46, cant say better than that.one little down side was you have to go into bar yourself for drinks,but saying that the prices in bar were very good.

We popped into the New Inn for sunday lunch today (7 Sep). There were 4 of us (2 couples) and we were treated to what I can only describe as a superb 'old school' roast dinner for only £6 per head. Lots of pretentious false olde worlde chain pubs advertise traditional Sunday lunches but they rarely pass muster. The New Inn offers a no frills hearty meal, just like you would cook at home on a good day. What a treat it was. There was plenty of it ( the girls couldn't finish theirs), the quality was excellent and we were served by a very pleasant young lady who made sure that we had everything that we needed but didn't interfere with our eating by asking if everything was all right every 5 minutes. Well done the New Inn!

I visited here with friends last week and found it to be a really great pub with lovely food all homemade what I liked very much was that the dining room was separate from the bar and the atmosphere was nice we'll definitely be going back

Have eaten here many times and always am more than pleased with the quality of the homemade food, price and efficient staff. The beer garden is great especially in nice weather and they have sky sports inside and out! A great choice for all occasions. Would highly recommended!

Told it was a nice meal so thought we'd try it, and I must say I loved it the decor is old style and the food was really good I had the steak and ale pie and its the best outside of my own home I've ever had, the prices seem ridiculously low for the quality of the food and om going back again for tea tomorrow as I liked it so much

Always eat here when on caravan breaks in Rhuddlan several times a year. The sunday roast is awesome, big portions served steaming hot and staff are very attentive. A great pub/hotel with great food.

Would def reccomend the sign said homecooked and everything certainly was. Couldnt fault a thing. So after we went on the sat evening. We had to return on the sunday for roast of the day. Omg was amazing. Will def be returning. Well worth a visit !!!!

We were in north Wales this September 2013, and found it very hard to find somewhere to be able to eat in a dog friendly pub. We were then told about the new inn rhuddlan and found the staff very friendly,on arrival they offered a bowl of water for our little dog. The food was very good and at a very good price. We will certainly visit again when in north wales. We would recommend this to other people who have their dog on holiday with them.

Attracted by the board outside the hotel I ventured in to get something to eat. There were no bar staff but a lady eating her meal got up to serve me. The menu contents were what I would describe as "pub grub" so I ordered the pie of the day - steak and ale. They don't take credit cards and she seemed surprised when I asked for a receipt. The food arrived and the pie looked reasonable. However I did not realise you could still get peas out of a tin, which mine certainly were. Not sure what the pale green mush was accompanying the peas, the carrot was nicely cooked though. The pie had plenty of meat but was very salty for my taste. Overall - disappointing.
