New Golden Bell in Glasgow City

Ordered a takeaway from here and it was lovely. We tried out the vegan options, tofu curry and tofu in satay sauce. Everything was amazing. Will be back again when we’re in Glasgow.

Best Chinese I’ve had in a long time; salt and chilli chicken was top notch, partner said chicken satay was best she had.

I ordered a set meal this evening with a starter and a main. Upon arrival, the chips was the smallest I have ever seen (occupied 1/4 of the paper bag). I've never seen such a small portion. It could have filled a coffee cup. The food was alright but this is he first time I've ever finished a two course meal and still felt hungry afterwards.

The New Golden Bell is back for takeaway and authentic as ever. Wonderful fresh prawns bursting with flavour in a spicy rich Szechuan sauce with a side of delicious plain chow mien!! (And not over salted!!!) it was very busy but all the drivers were respecting social distancing.

Ordered a whole duck and got what was, at best, half. (see pic) £27 The sweet chilli sauce is very watered down. The pork sui mai is deep fried not steamed. Weird. There was no email address to complain and provide photo so I am here.

Revisited this Finnieston Chinese recently before a night out and was not disappointed. The facilities may be basic inside, but the food more thank makes up for it. There were chinese students sitting in, which is always a good sign and shows the food is authentic. I had the Chicken and Black Bean and this time and it was delicious. I think they may have a new chef, but still the same great taste as I remember. The portion was huge so set me up nicely for a few shandies. My pals had the crispy shredded beef, which was equally large. Will definitely be back soon.

We sat in a few weeks ago with my family, I ordered the vegan vegetarian rice noodle dish and my husband got the crispy beef with rice. The kids got noodles and chips. Service was great and good for the price, it’s casual dining and a good place to visit if wanting to get some food before visiting the Hydro. We were taking the kids to a show at the hydro the day we went and it’s only 10 min walk. Saved paying £8 a burger in the hydro!!! Highly recommend this little gem on Argyle street. We will be back.

My family and I were staying at a nearby hotel and got takeaway from this place one night. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s not the best Chinese food I have ever had but it’s better than average and the prices were quite reasonable. No complaints at all. If I return to Glasgow I would get takeaway from this place again if I needed a meal for my family.

Overall poor food. Salt and chilli chips were pale and mostly onion and peppers. Same goes for the beef. Majority of it was onions and peppers. All of it was basic western Chinese food and not good enough for the price.

Wonderful, fresh, beautifully cooked Chinese food. Vast selection: vegetarian and vegan dishes- especially the tofu ones are excellent. Fast , pleasant service ,big helpings and great value for money. A must!

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had! Salt and chilli Chips thin and soggy with a few peppers and onions thrown on them! Curry sauce watery and rice tasted disgusting! Salt and chilli chicken was also basically chicken nuggets with a sweet chilli dip. I have never had anything like it before! Overall food tasteless. Do not recommend!

I have always loved this place since we moved round the corner 3 years ago however it seems like it must have been taken over or something recently as food had become awful. The chips are now very thin and soggy which they weren't before and the chicken curry which was always my favourite is now too spicey to eat. The salt and chilli chips are pathetic now just soggy chips with a few sliced onions and a few bits of chilli chucked on top.

The food is a bit below average, also is the environment. Near where I stayed at the University of Glasgow though.

For a change went for munchy box lots of roasting hot noodles fee pieces freezing cold pork never again.

Incredibly disappointed, food was cancelled after an hour of waiting for the delivery. Should have let us know earlier if they were going to cancel the order.

Ordered lemon chicken. There was barely any sauce and the fried rice was cold and hard. All in all a pretty mediocre meal. Will look elsewhere when ordering

great food as always & very fast delivery, only grumble is I asked for lots of salt & vinegar on chips and they didn’t put any on it at all which was unfortunate.

Food delivery time was great. However, we thought the food that arrived smelt off, and after a small taste, our initial thoughts seemed accurate. After contacting just eat, who then contacted the restaurant, we were refused a full refund, because the sub-standard food had to be collected "untouched" in order to get any money back. How we would know if it tasted off without actually eating it is beyond me. Not great service and disappointed as have ordered so many times without a problem.

Order was cold on arrival and didn't taste very fresh! Curry was watery in consistency and the salt and chilli chips were soggy and didn't appear to be a full portion! Total waste of money.

a simple chicken fried rice - burnt to a crisp. The rice from here used to be fluffy and tasty but last nights was dry and the chicken burnt. Really disappointed.

Got chicken curry and fried rice, whole thing just tasted greasy and there was no flavour to it or spice, not even getting from here again

Delivery arrived very quickly and starters were nice. However the main was extremely disappointing and bland. Will go somewhere else nice time!

The delivery was fast and quick, but the chow mein was extremely oily and couldn't even eat it. I asked for vegetarian spring rolls and meat ones arrived! Wouldn't order again!

great food, I usually order from here! great delivery time! only tip I would give is to not over-pack the bags with food stuff, as my curry leaked all in the bag because it had been squashed.

Received a completely different meal than what I have ordered. I have ordered a Chicken Mushroom Soup and Curry with Rice, Shrimp, received beef curry and spring rolls.

The food was nice enough but it was not what we ordered. I ordered Singapore fried rice. What was delivered was Special fried rice. I also ordered Sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. I got Sweet and sour chicken but NO fried rice. Really disappointed. They also owe me for a fried rice.

No puedo alabar este lugar lo suficiente. Desde la señora encantadora en el mostrador de recepción, el conductor de la entrega, todo el personal del Golden Bell es muy amable y servicial. La comida es por lejos la mejor comida china en Glasgow - los ingredientes son siempre frescos, la carne tierna, las salsas son auténticas (no el día especie glo miedo encontrarse en otro lugar) y las porciones son generosas. Además, el lugar siempre está lleno de gente con la clientela china - siempre tranquilizador! Altamente recomendado.

Slow, not as crispy as I like my duck

got one thing in the order wrong which has never happened for us from here, but we phoned up and they delivered it really fast and had no problem with fixing it!! The food was yummy as usual, with big portions, plenty of prawn crackers which we love! thank you again new golden bell! will continue to order from you!

I would recommend not to order the Chicken with Pineapple. It was really bad.....my friend ordered a chow mein dish and it was fine.

Asked for chopsticks and didn't get any, other than that excellent.

15 minute delivery time, couldn't believe that it was here so fast. Everything really tasty and warm, 5/5

We specifically chose 18:30 to deliver and they delivered it an hour before at 17:30. Not happy considering they were an HOUR early. The food was good though, lots of prawn crackers but timing was absolutely useless. If we had been out, we wouldn't have gotten our food. The driver didn't apologise either when we explained.

The best satay I've had in a while. My flatmate loved his black bean too. Will definitely order again.

Golden Bell is the best takeaway in my area. Always great quality no matter what the dish - delivery spot on - always sooner than expected. Highly recommend to anyone. Great value for money. First class service all round.

The collection time and lady who served was fine however the food was disappointing. The portion size of the salt/chilli chicken was very small, the chips were soggy and of little taste as was the szechuan chicken. Wholely unsatisfied.

Food arrived and the containers and the contents were luke warm if not completely cold. The portion size of the chicken meal was half the size of the container. Over priced and we were extremely disappointed. Won't be ordering from here again.

The chicken fried rice was the best I've had in Glasgow so far, and I will definitely make it a staple order. The beef was tender, though bland. I'm looking forward to using what I ordered to make banging leftovers. Wouldn't complain, looking forward to ordering from New Golden Bell again

Food was bland, ordered the set dinner for 1. The chicken noodle soup was quite tasteless and the chicken fried rice was dry. Usually the mapo tofu or the char siu chou fan is much tastier.

I was disappointed with the beef and black bean this evening. I've had this meal many times but felt tonight's portion was much smaller as was the chow main noodles. I asked for extra spice but there was none. Thanks

Best meal I've had. Spring rolls were brilliant. Chicken wings great.. Nice spicy dip. Ribs were magic. . Very very satisfied

No drink arrived and they didn't answer the phone and they didn't redeliver. Food was oily and I had to throw it out. Only ordered for the drink. Even gave a tip for such poor service!!!

Ordered salt and chill chicken, fried rice, noodles, curry sauce and diet irn bru. The food was DISGUSTINg!!! Chicken was horrible and very small portion, rest of food was very bland and they messed up by sending irn bru instead of diet. Will not be ordering from this restaurant ever again. Would recommend try somewhere else before ordering

The food was good however, it wasn't clearly marked what food had gluten. Based on the description, I thought the salt and chilli chicken was gluten free, but the chicken was breaded. That was very disappointing considering the person I was ordering it for has celiac disease and can't have any gluten.

Chicken a bit chewy, could have been cooked a little bit softer.

Tofu and mixed vegetables was terrible. I know you may say tofu is always bad but it's really not - it just needs to be done properly. This was unseasoned and served in chunks which were too big so in the centre the texture was minging and temperature cold. "Mixed vegetables" was a sham - it was just a wee bit of side salad. Sauce was a tiny tub of sweet chilli. As I'm vegan I asked for fried rice without egg. To be fair they gave me this but did nothing to liven it up - would a bit more soy sauce have killed them? I'm not a fussy eater but I binned this after drudging through about half of it. Really disappointing.

There was a staple in my food. - Honestly the food was alright. Not as good as it has been in the past, and delivery took longer than usual. But there was a staple in my food. I got cut by it. At least I didn't swallow it but this is unacceptable.

Called ahead to order for collection. Lovely service and the food was ready within 10 minutes. Delicious food and reasonably priced! Recommend the Singapore chow mein. (Oh and I even got some free prawn crackers with my order!)

Food tasted fantastic. Best Chinese takeaway I've had in Glasgow and for a reasonable price. Only issue was that when the food was delivered to me it was slightly cold. Other then that everything was great and they will definitely be my go to Chinese from now on.

Not the best, but good place where to eat chinese (take away is available). The staff is really nice and the quality is medium-high! The place is clean and nice! Ideal for take away, would not recommend to stay in for dinner though

A good standard of Chinese takeaway. Sure, sometimes the food is a fraction better than other times but you know what you're getting. Food is always hot and tasty - no complaints! Last time we ordered the food took a little longer than usual - from experience the food is usually quicker than the time quoted by Just Eat, bonus!

Food was mildly warm at best. Salt and chilli chicken was sweet not spicy and a bit tough. Singapore chow mein was short on meat and had a dry powdery texture. Disappointing, won't be ordering again.
