The room was cute and clean with a nice view. The staff went above and beyond to make it a special occasion with a birthday banner and card in the room. The pub was cosy and the food was delicious. The whole team was lovely and very welcoming (especially one lady with blonde hair and glasses I unfortunately didn’t get her name) overall a great birthday stay.

Made a last-minute booking due to a power cut at their sister pub, turned out to be our favourite meal of the trip. The atmosphere was great, the staff were all great, and the food was brilliant - my only complaint was the parking which was a bit of a squeeze. We'll hopefully be visiting again next year.

Lovely country pub. Very dog friendly, even after a walk in the forest with muddy paws. Roaring fires and a great atmosphere. Great selection on menu and really enjoyed the tasty food. Will definitely return.

This Inn is a mishmash of historic buildings, it trails along the street, quaint, and unassuming. Like an old lady cloaked in green waiting to welcome you in. Colourful hanging baskets festoon the front. There is a large sign warning townies that ponies bite. Reviews highlighted parking could be an issue. The forecourt filled to capacity, down a steep incline to the rear we found a space, but additional parking is available on the road. Beware the parameter onto the road at the front falls away and you can easily ground your car. Stepping into the bar was like stepping back in time. Not many old inns keep their integrity, but this one has. That musty old beer aroma, stone walls and subdued lighting, worn leather couches and plenty of nooks to slide yourself into and while away the hours. A young man welcomed us and showed us to our room. Located at the top of the stairs, our room overlooked the rear of the pub. The accommodation was bright, clean and welcoming. A large TV commanded one wall, with tub seating, a side table and stool. The room was stuffy, so we opened the window, immediately discovering the kitchen extraction unit. The drone from the extractor was annoying, and not the peaceful atmosphere I was expecting. Descending one step, there is a well-lit, spacious bathroom with a good-sized shower, hand basin, and toilet. Toiletries, towels and hairdryer provided. There was a reasonably well-stocked tea tray, but it was on a very low shelf. We later popped into the bar for refreshments. It was very busy, but had a friendly buzz. We had eaten prior to our arrival but did partake in dessert. A little pricy at £8.50 each. Gluten-free sticky toffee pudding and a slice of cheesecake, both served with ice-cream. Returning to our room was a bit like running the gauntlet. The automatic watering system giving those hanging baskets a drenching also drenched us. The doorway leading to the accommodation is not well lit. Trying to dodge the water and get the key in the lock was a feat in itself, but on a warm autumnal evening, caused great frivolity. The window remained closed until the extraction unit fell silent. Peace descended, window open, the forest came to life, the magical caterwauls of an owl, then silence. The bed, although very creaky, was comfortable. Thankfully, they do not turn the extractor on too early in the morning. Breakfast is available from 8.30-11.00am. Staff serve breakfast in the bar, the welcome could have been warmer. The menu had a variety of options, from the full forest to simple toast and preserves. There is a serve-yourself table laden with, cereals, fruit juices, yogurts, preserves, and fruit. I chose the full forest. The gluten-free option (menu provided) did not include sausage and black pudding. Sadly also no gluten-free cereals on offer, but toast was available. Half an hour after ordering breakfast was served, it was worth the wait. Hot food, golden yolked eggs, crispy bacon, good produce, well presented. We returned later that day. Managed to bag ourselves a parking spot right outside the pub entrance, high five for me! Thankfully, the weather was a little cooler, so we didn’t need to open our window. We booked a table that evening. The pub was very quiet, staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Drinks ordered, we perused the menu and settled on steak and ale pie £19.99 and pan fried lambs liver (gluten-free) £17.99. Service was reasonably quick, and like breakfast the food was piping hot. The pie lived up to all the media-hype. Crispy golden pastry, ram packed with melt in the mouth steak, served in a pool of gravy. My husband rated it the best pie he had ever eaten! The pan fried lamb’s liver, served on a bed of creamy mash and gravy, was tender and moreìsh. Both dishes were filling. I managed to make room for another slice of the gluten-free sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream. Check in from 3pm and check out 11am. Would we stay here again, a resounding yes, but in a different room. This quirky unspoiled inn is 100% worth a visit for dining or accommodation.

Excellent restaurant, brilliant service. Eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here on separate occasions and the only gripe I have is the coffee isn't great. Have recommended it to friends who all have nothing but praise when they visit.

Had a superb lunch here with an old workmate. The conservatory (behind the bar) was the perfect place for a natter. The staff were terrific and the food amazing. The only potential issue is the limited parking on site in a small village, so just be patient and hopefully you'll find a safe spot. We'll be back again soon. 👍😊

Don't bother booking for Sunday roast because the booking system means nothing to them! Had a table booked for 2 got there a little early and told not ready yet fair enough but come 2 o'clock still no table free.. Over an hour wait for a prebooked table! I then on principle I didn't want to give this establishment any of my money so we went to Nandos instead. Absolutely shocking a service and will never go here again. Pure greed on the management over booking the tables.

Rating the pub and food only.. Im struggling to give this a 3, but I guess 2 is a little harsh. We went for a Sunday roast, took the big daddy, a large salad and a starter. Salad aside, the rest was just awful - I exist a pub that charges £27 for a roast, to have at least cooked that roast there. This was merely packet slices of not great quality meat and all frozen vegetables - which we has to ask to be reheated anyway. Arancini starter was also terrible. The salad was ok, but in the end we felt chested at the quality and price of the food. If the roast was £12, i would've said that was about right for the quality, and just not eaten there. The pub itself is very nice and the staff are pleasant enough.. just let down entirely by the shoddy overpriced food

I'm reviewing the meal we had there today, we weren't staying over. Our group of six meets every 3 months or so, somewhere in the New Forest area and have tried many of the food serving pubs, but today The New Forest Inn moved into first place. Much of the food on the menu is made on the premises and cooked freshly seemingly, so don't expect mega-quick service. The wait is worth it though, the slices of truly meaty & deep-filled pie were awesome and the veg medley accompanying was beautiful. Even better, we got an extra jug of gravy, a necessity with pie and veg (chips were awesome too). Just be aware these are big portions on big plates... lovely. The puds had equally generous portions and again were made on the premises and were gorgeous. Prices were a bit on the high side, but as you get what you pay for, I have to say that this is great value for money. Sorry, no pictures, I ate it all before I thought about it!

We had dinner at this lovely pub on our way back from Lyndhurst. Great location and great look throughout. It was a very rainy day but their orangery still stood out as we sat there. We had a choice of burgers from their menu. The price for a burger is around 18, 19 pounds so not supercheap. However, the quality was good, the bun was crispy, so was the meat and vegetables were fresh. Waitresses were very smiley and friendly. Overall, a great place to spend some quality time.

Great traditional pub with hearty food perfect for after a walk. Great location with walks right from the pub. The park is limited so many people park on the road making it a congested pinch point on the corner, we parked just 100m down the road in a forest carpark.

Went in for a Sunday roast - was lovely! We had the lamb which was delicious. I couple of suggestions for improvement would be for a drinks menu with what's on tap. I had to get up to have a look which wasn't an issue for me, but it was very congested at the bar with staff/customers coming and going, and people drinking at the bar. The second suggestion would be regarding serving children's food. I ordered the scampi and chips for my 2 year old, but it came out of the kitchen about 5 minutes after our roasts did. It's not the wait that was the issue, but more so that my daughters food was sorching hot. I had to try and cool it down whilst my roast went cold. Maybe might be worth for the kitchen to have kids meals for the table waiting to go out first so it's got some time to cool? Also our waitress was about to hand it directly to my daughter but I intervened. I appreciate it was out of kindness but my daughter could of burnt herself had I not of been paying attention and got to the plate first. By the by, it's a charming pub which oozes character. I look forward to visiting again soon.
