..... but far more. I visit once or twice a week, holding little business meetings there, or eating with a friend, or just taking the laptop and having a solo lunch as I work. That way I see the range of customers from the morning commuters, builders, mothers and toddlers, through to OAPs and families. In this weather, the outside tables are particularly good; but if heat is not your "thing" then a seat inside, with the front and back doors open, can be refreshingly cool. Breakfasts range from the "Slimmer's" to the "Butcher's", with a range of omelettes - and, if you ask nicely, porridge can be produced. The coffee is excellent. The "Dish of the Week" programme is proving popular and attractive, with main courses and desserts; and as much of the meat comes from the excellent butcher across the road, the quality remains high. Sandwiches and panini are available, with a changing selection of superior cakes and a range of teas and tisanes. Try it - any time of the day! And, for the avoidance of doubt, I believe in giving credit where it is due, as well as criticism where that seems deserved. I am no more than a regular customer of, I think, a discerning character, and this team deserve praise.

The sign of a good restaurant is that it seeks to improve on itself. Although this place could just be dismissed by passers-by as another "greasy spoon" I can assure readers that it is not. Yes - breakfast food in wide variety is available (including one for slimmers); but the range of available dishes has also widened and improved. I have recently tried, and enjoyed, vegetarian options, here; and yesterday I had a home-made burger, made from good quality, non-processed beef with herbs, but without being slathered with extraneous fodder In this weather, too, I like the milk shakes - while the garden at the rear is available: and when the weather is really that of the British summer (i.e.hot and humid) having the front door and the door to the garden both open, make for added comfort. There are, of course, newspapers available for those inclined to read them As a customer I come here for a welcome break from my office.

It will be obvious that I have reviewed this place before; but I do so because I think that it is deserved. Efforts are made to vary the menu, and such things as soups are home-made. Although I am not keen on the radio (I am not an electronic music fan) I tolerate it. For a break nd also, perhaps, for a designer coffee (they have always been good at that) it is nice to some and sit for a while, using the free wifi to catch up on correspondence. The standards are consistently high, the food is very good and the place is absolutely spotless. Keep up the good work!

II come here regularly as it has first-rate food, very friendly and welcoming service. I have business meetings here, as well as coming alone with my laptop for a meal, a change of scene and some fresh air. Although not a local person, myself, I do now see people I know and it is good to chat. At this time of year, the garden is very attractive. Not being a fan of what passes for popular music, I like to sit outside when I can - but I realise that I am a dinosaur! Apart from the short-order cookery, featuring meat rom the excellent butcher over the road, many of the offerings are home-made, not least of all the soups and the lasagne. There is a good selection of coffees and teas, as well as soft drinks.

The original owners sold and the original cook (Ann Taylor) left. The menu changed a little, and it seems that some of the locals were unamused. Ann is now back (as the owner) and the menu is "back to normal". The quality of the meat is outstanding, as is he service. I am currently awaiting the attentions of a neurosurgeon, and so, as I have difficulty cutting things at the moment, they kindly cut things for me, before bringing them to the table. Is that good service or what? The range of coffees is also refreshingly good.

This cafe was taken over about a week or so ago and I'm amazed at how quickly its gone down hill, the new owners really need to put the fans on as the smell of grease is overpowering, i walked in there for a coffee this morning, gagged and walked out !!!

This café opened about a year ago and seems to be doing very well. The food is of high quality (meat comes from the local private butcher across the road), and the cakes, scones and pies have a home-made taste to them - they are not out of the freezer!. There are dishes of the day - and the quality of the milk shakes (made with ice cream) and of the coffee (especially the mocha) would leave more self-proclaimed upmarket establishments in their wake. This summer they have added outside seating behind the main servery. Customers are welcome to linger if they so wish. The owners and staff are particularly friendly and helpful, without being intrusive. Being new to the area, they have passed on to me local knowledge which has been helpful in several ways, such as bus routes and shops not immediately adjacent. The welcome is warm and genuine. They have a five-star hygiene badge - and one can see why!

Ridiculous. Everything about it is ridiculous. The food is ridiculously good, unpretentious, fresh and delicious. The service is ridiculously good too, attentive, helpful and really welcoming.
