I ordered a "frappé coffee", croquettes with cheese and vegetables inside, and a slice of carrot cake.Food: Carrot cake and croquettes were fair but a bit heavy. The frappé coffee expensive and very weak flavour (consistency of water). They asked me if I wanted cream on the top and I had no cream. Anyway, later my stomach suffered.Service: I went with my girlfriend. It is a small place and there are 5 people as waiters and cahiers... I think the half would be enough. Nevertheless, they needed three or four times to bring us all the food, although they had nothing to cook, and we had to remember them two or three times. People are kind but totally unprofessional.Environment: that is nice. The architecture was clever.

Long been a fan of Cornerstone Cafe and had to try its new venture in doing evening dinners. Wasn't disappointed at all. The ambience was as good as ever but more peaceful as less bustle from clientele. The menu was interesting and very tasty. My moules starter was to die for and pork tenderloin excellent. I was too full for a pudding due to generosity of portions. The wine selection is mercifully short. Our sauvignon blanc was great. Finally, the bill was very reasonable. Really hope this evening venture takes off. We'll be back

Stopped in to what looked a first class established for a Friday morning breakfast. My friend and I had the cornerstone full English fry. The bacon was undercooked and very fatty the toast was tuff and the mushrooms left the other food cold due to exesss water. It was over £26 for the 2 breakfasts and 2 coffee and a soft drink which I wouldn't mind paying had the food been good. Very disappointed and kicking myself for forking out so much on a poor meal.

The cafe is located on a corner in a nice location and should have more customers than they seem to be having.First time we visited was shortly after moving to the area as we were looking for dinner. They were serving veggie curries to take away and so we were very happy about this. I've never had a curry as bland as that.I went a few times for brunch or just for coffee but pretty much every time the coffee was a disappointment. They seem to be burning the bean with water too hot, it's the only explanation I can think of.Overall, the brunch is OK if the other places nearby are full. I will say this though; the cakes and sandwiches are really good. They do special sandwiches often and those are really good.

Cornerstone is the breakfast destination. One of the best varieties I've seen in any cafe. It's become my guilty pleasure. You could make your own breakfast after a night out...or you could go to Cornerstone and know it'll be all taken care of. It has a great atmosphere and is dog friendly. I was down at Woolwich Arsenal for the Tall Ships Festival on Easter Sunday and fancied a coffee stop. I saw a sign for the Cornerstone Cafe and thought I'd give it a try. The place is light airy and welcoming and was pretty full when I arrived with a queue at the counter. There was an impressive array of cakes on display and numerous staff floating around but they seemed to be somewhat flustered and it took forever to get served - not a good start! I opted for the bacon and egg bap on brown- couldn't resist. I have to say once served my food and drink arrived very promptly, the bread was great and the bap not small in size, this and good quality bacon made for a very passable breakfast. By this time the service has become more efficient and the place was packed and queueing out the door - I can quite understand why it is so popular. One for a definite return when I am next in this part of town

The coffee was a lovely blend with a deep aroma. The only small comment (from my wife) is the eggs Benedict needed thick cut slices of ham, not the wafer thin stuff from the shops. The Cornerstone is located just around the corner from our offices and en route to the DLR station so makes an ideal stop for a bite.Food is ok, nothing special to be honest and there is not a great choice either, all the usual but a bit more tarted up. I can see its trying to bring in the more affluent customer and keep out the other end of the spectrum by charging top prices which will no doubt pay dividends as the area changes. No complaints about the cleanliness, always looks clean and tidy, tables are cleared quickly as well which is good. This is the kind of place you could bring the family or discuss business over a bite to eat, not bad at all.

I've been to this cafe many times and more often than not can accept the overly priced breakfast/lunch because generally it's very good and incredibly convenient right outside my front door. This morning however after ordering a sausage bap 'to go' with brown sauce, they get it wrong and use ketchup. I politely point it out and they politely take it away to replace it. When I get it back 30 seconds later, on a new bun with brown sauce but the same ketchup soaked sausages I was more than a little disappointed. Personally I couldn't eat this, but didn't have time to enter a debate about why this was a bit cheeky for a £4 sausage sandwich. Sausage wasn't even hot enough to melt the butter on the bap.

There are a few pleasures in life, one, a quality coffee in comfort with a friendly atmosphere;Another, a good heart warming breakfast... The Cornerstone Cafe ticks all the boxes for me and it's one of the greatest assets on the Royal Arsenal Riverside... J-)

I am a regular visitor at this cafe, usually popping in to have a coffee while checking emails. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are friendly and the coffee is delicious.I do not regularly eat - but what I have had has been excellent and I believe all pastries and cakes are made fresh on site. The building is Grade 2 listed, has an industrial finish with exposed ceiling beams, original sash windows and skylights which make for an unusual, light and airy setting.

Recently I visited the Cornerstone Cafe that is situated on the magnificent Royal Arsenal Development in Woolwich, South East London. This is not the first time I have eaten there as I have been there with my partner as well as the occasional business lunch too. Each time the food has been truly fantastic with prices I find very reasonable. This time I had Salmon Fish Cakes with Roasted Vegetables on the side. Truly my mouth is watering thinking about this even now. To put this review in a nutshell: The food is fresh, Well Present, Tasty & well priced. The Staff are Great. The atmosphere is relaxed. The Decor is Modern And the Location is Fab.

Popped in for morning coffee and munchies to this conveniently located cafe in the heart of the Royal Arsenal. Only has a coffee and a few of the morning pastries, but the pastries including the banana muffin were soft, fluffy the right consistency and overall very tasty. Coffee very acceptable, but its the pastries that made this visit and started the day off well.

The Cornerstone Cafe is one of our local highlights in Woolwich. It's based on the Royal Arsenal in a very nicely converted period building. We've enjoyed many a breakfast and a few dinners at the Cornerstone. The food has always been excellent and very well presented. It is one of our favourite places here in Woolwich.I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to our local cafe.

Every one needs comfort, or to paraphrase George Bernard Shaw, food is one of the sincerest forms of love.So how wonderful to discover a totally unpretentious but warm neighbourhood cafe (the Cornerstone Cafe) at the royal Arsenal Riverside complex. It is (for me) the ideal place to be on a weekend for an extremely relaxing breakfast with a wide selection of newspapers on offer, or to stop by on the way home to get a quick snack for supper before going to an evening event elsewhere. The service is friendly, the food wholesome and varied, the atmosphere inviting. The Royal Arsenal neighbourhood would be the less without this establishment.

I live in The Arsenal and am a regular customer at Cornerstone Cafe. This might seem at odds with my three star review but you see, there is no other real alternative if you want a brunch-style menu and half decent coffee. The problem is, there is a really huge inconsistency in the quality of coffee preparation. I'm a flat white drinker and have yet to have two made the same. They are served in a full sized cup, which the staff feel the need to fill to the top, thus making my flat white a latte. After you wait ten minutes to be served for a takeaway coffee before trotting to the DLR you don't necessarily have time to wait another ten while they get your coffee right. So regrettably, no more coffee. The other massive issue I have is the quality of the cakes. The cheesecake topping that adorns most of the cakes is too heavy and should (in my opinion, but I do eat a lot of cake, and bake a lot more than I eat) be replaced with a traditional frosting. The lemon drizzle is baked in a tin way too deep and so is always under baked (see the thick dense line that runs through each slice) and burned on the outside, presumably as it takes an age to bake in its behemoth form. It is also invariably dry. Two smaller cakes could bake at the same time and the result would be a LOT better. So sadly, for now, I don't purchase any cake from cornerstone. However, the salads are top notch, tasty, inventive, but they could be switched up a little more frequently (like a few times a week). Finally, the staff are a bit hit and miss: sometimes friendly, sometimes cold and dismissive. Any tensions or issues should not be conducted in their demeanour, and the customer should never feel anything other than welcome.

My fiancée and I have just moved into Royal Arsenal but have had brunch here a number of times over the past year. I want Cornerstone Cafe to be my favourite local cafe so I hope this feedback is taken on board. My overall observation is that the quality of the coffee has been really inconsistent. Half the time it is made well, and the other half the milk is burnt (or the London Fog is boiling hot). As the main cafe in the Royal Arsenal there really is no reason for such average quality coffee. If management can support the barista staff with proper training and ensure consistent, quality coffee - then you'll have the loyalty of my two coffee a day habit. If not - the Costa down the road will be my recommendation to others in the future (and I never thought I'd recommend Costa).I'll report back to tripadvisor/twitter/Facebook in a month - hopefully with a positive response from the management and a real improvement in the consistency from the baristas.

This cafe was my daily walk-to coffee place while staying in Woolwich. Always a buzz with ladies chatter and man talk plus family friendly. Loved how they had made the outdoors area smoke free so prams and their mums enjoyed sitting outside.Muffins were delicious and coffee improved over the weeks (new barrista) so morning coffee was something to look forward to. Friendly staff and nice decor; well worth a try.
