Simply the must try in Hastings!! The owner of this fish and chips shop makes the best fish and chips in East Sussex!! This is the only fish and chips I eat every year i visit Hastings!

After a walk from the pier past lots of stalls, we stopped at Neptune Fish & Chips. The shop looked great from the outside and the fish & chips were the best I've ever tasted. Super friendly owner, fresh crispy fish and great fries, unreservedly recommended!

This is a simple little place quite old fashioned and basic in decor. I have visited several times over the last few years and never been disappointed with the food or overall experience. Visited today and have to say I think it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. Beautifull thick flaky cod in lovely crisp batter, crispy perfect chips. Price is comparable with everywhere else. Its not a fancy place but I love it.

Simple restaurant/cafe with the best fish and chips I have eaten in a long while. Fresh thick haddock with a great batter and crispy chips, with beer very reasonably priced. Friendly efficient staff made our visit a pleasure.

Pasty was not cooked (raw pastry), that turned me off the chips that weren't the best I've eaten . But my wife and granddaughter like there meals, I will commend the management, they did reduce my bill.

Delicious but not too clean tables

I come with my family every time I am in Hastings. Always friendly service and the fish and chips are simply delicious. The price for the size of the portions received is really fair. I will always come back there as I have for several years. 100% recommend.

An ideal Fish & Chip restaurant. Not a lot of room, especially if in a wheelchair, so ideally a take away. Prices are comparable. Great service from staff. Lovely chips, one of my favourite. Good access.

Whatever you do, dont eat here!! £4.50 for a pathetic portion of regular chips. Half my chips were cold and looked like theyd be sitting there in the fryer for an hour. To add to it the staff just held dirty looks towards me and almost acted as if it was a chore to serve me. Never going back

Good is way over priced. The staff are rude and don’t make you feel welcome at all. I should have known it was a bad idea when it was empty! Forgot items so had to go back in to

Ordered 3 small chips and fish and sausages and they were the smallest portion of chips for £2.50 that I have ever seen. You get more chips from a small McDonalds fries. If I had known that the portions were that small for the price I would not have ordered there. That was why there were no queues. A short walk away along the front and there are other chips shops with friendlier staff and bigger portions of chips. No service with a smile and it seemed like an effort to serve us and it was not even peak time. Will not be returning. We ate the chips and were still hungry afterwards. Eat there at your own peril.

Take cash because they don't accept cards. Very nice people who ensure you are happy with the food and service. Fresh fish and good quality chips and a great mug of tea at a reasonable price.

1 october 2022. We ordered 2 portions Fish & Chips to take away. The whole city of Hastings is having this dish with these famous paper boxes. But what did we got? Fish & Chips wrapped like hazardous waste, hardly to open let alone to enjoy. Very oily. But the seagulls were already waiting...

2.50 for small chips and it was the smallest portion I have ever seen in my life. Kids were not impressed and were still hungry with a portion each. Better places with bigger portions a short walk along the front.

Tried Neptune cafe and was very disappointed. The half pound burger was tasteless and the bun was burnt. The cod was tasteless also and greasy. We waited 15 minutes for 2 cans of Fanta and had to ask for them. Part of our order was also forgotten. Waited a further 10 minutes for the bill... Could understand this wait in a large restaurant, but not one of this size. Will not be visiting again.

If you come to Hastings, this place is a must to go for a perfect fish and chips. Tastes amazing! Awesome owners, warm welcoming and friendly. Thanks! Will be coming back again!

Nah, last week when I visit the chippy when I went tunbridge wells for 2 nights I fort the man in chippy was quite bossy and snotty and rude and won’t be returning

Had a family day out. Never tried this fish bar b4 & won't be going again. We ordered food to takeaway. Not only were the savloys & sausage in batter the smallest I'd ever seen but they were also dry and tasteless. The batter had a funny stale smell to it. The burger was awful. Complete waste of money as it couldt be eaten.

Enjoyed a very.nice portion of fish and chips here with my son. Very friendly service, would certainly go back.

Had a day out in hastings and a group of us had lunch at Neptune Cafe. Can't fault my food. I had grilled cod with chips and salad. I enjoyed every bit of it. We all enjoyed our food. Cost is not much more than having a take away. The prices are not expensive. You can go down the road and get cooked frozen chips cheaper. You get what you pay for.

So we went to this café thinking we could have some chips and a drink we opened the menu to find the chips were £4.20 STANDARD size left as thought very expensive. Went down the road to blue dolphin fishbar which was very welcoming and the chips were £2.20 definitely recommend going somewhere else.

Very nice food, but excessively expensive compared to places nearby. Quite a surly, if not a little rude owner. Only takes cash, and not a member of any electronic food ordering/delivery services, explaining his prices would go up again, I wonder if the increase in turnover due to E-ordering and payment would help?

With the many fish and chips shops along the coast of hastings this was amazing, crunchy chips(soft in the middle) chicken burger that melted in my mouth a beef and onion pie to die for and my sons cheesy chips which he throughly enjoyed. Staff service was amazing and friendly. I don't like sea front chips normally but if I come back to hastings I know where I'm going again.

Very unpleasant we tried to take 6 ladies with learning disabilities to dine in we was then told we could not stay and had to leave before even sitting down the answer was we have to accommodate our customers so leave

Very overpriced for the quality. Extremely rude man working there, appeared to be the owner. Definitely wouldn't recommend. There are plenty of other chip shops around, my advice is to choose any one of those instead.

Nice chips but fish doesn't taste very fresh....so avoid

I visited this place because I saw all the good reviews but I was really disappointed. Expired mayo on the table, chef had a long beard and not wearing a beard snood, 5 stars rating by the council but not really a date of inspection or the name of the place written on the sticker on the window. Also, the place was full of spiders. Regarding the food, the portion was really satisfying but the fish and chips were blunt with no flavour at all. Last but not least, they only accept cash and the receipt was just a number on a piece of paper. Avoid that place.

Overpriced and unsanitary. Only accepts cash and does not give you a receipt.. definitely a front for a money laundering business. Tables had expired sachets of condiments like mayo, ceiling was covered with LARGE spiders. Very dodgy cafe, Save your cash and avoid. Only nice thing was the waitress who was very kind to us.

Stoped hear for good old fish and chips and that's exactly what we got. Friendly staff very nice fish and a cosy feel. I had cad and chips with a not so traditional curry sauce, well worth the dosh.

This is great place. My only criticism is that although my large cod was longer and wider than my wife's medium code , it was not as deep. So they were probably were about the same size. I enjoyed every mouthful nevertheless and would recommend.

I never give 5s but the fish was perfectly cooked, lovely batter. Only downside is cash only which always makes me think they possibly don’t declare all their income.

The food was not fresh, actually I got sick with diarrhea and flatulence.That's not all, they charged me for the cod and chips more than they had advertised on the board, outside by the door, I think just because they saw I was foreigner. I personally don't recommend this place at all.

Very rude member of staff. We was greeted nicely as we entered from the torrential downpour outside. Whilst trying to get our masks out a member of staff started shouting at us to put our masks on which we was in the middle of doing. Rather than leaving it at that he continued to be rude and abusive to the point my partner felt very uncomfortable and we had to leave before even being able to sit down. Never have I experienced such unnecessary verbal abuse. I can absolutely see why they was the only restaurant that had seating available. Would advise people to forward plan when visiting Hastings and book a table as to avoid this place.
