Great for a quick snack. Good selection and good friendly service. A little on the small side so can get busy at peak times

On visiting the restaurant at Tesco Neath Abbey I noticed it was clean and tidy with plenty of places to sit. We were initially ignored at the service counter for a few minutes (no one else there) eventually we were able to place our order, bacon rolls and a full breakfast given our reservation number and took a seat. After about 5 mins the server came over and told my companion that they had run out of rolls (we were sitting in Tesco) didn’t they have the gumption to go to the bread isle to get some more? He was eventually given his bacon rolls in flat white sliced free bread instead that didn’t look all that great. After reading some of the prior reviews I was looking forward to the generous portion sizes!!! My breakfast consisted of 1 small egg, 1 sliver of bacon, 1 thin sausage and a scraping of beans and wait for it 2 hash browns and some toast. If I was a child then perhaps what I received might have been adequate but a grown adult no chance. The restaurant is obviously a cash cow that gives poor service and very small portions to maximise the returns and profits from an expectant but disappointed public. I would not recommend or darken it’s door ever again.

Stopped in here for lunch 2 days ago. The place looked tidy and clean and the staff polite. Ordered fish and chips and a cheeseburger, food arrived promptly and was very tasty. Worth visiting again I think.

Every time I pop in to this cafe, the customer service is abysmal! Almost every time I stand and wait for at least 5 minutes before a member of staff acknowledges that there is a customer waiting. Yesterday I was waiting again when friends of a member staff walked in. Two of the staff walked over and were talking to the people while I stood there waiting. The only reason I stayed was because it was warmer than sitting in the car while I waited for my son to finish his club! Next time I won’t bother!

Had a £4.30 breakfast there this morning, unfortunately there was only one lady taking orders, making tea and waiting ontables and one in the back cooking, had to wait a long time to get served, about 10 mins in fact but the food was quick, hot and tasty. More staff needed.

With three children we have sampled pretty much every supermarket cafe there is. I have to say I find Tesco cafe the best. Good value and fresh looking tasty food for children and tried a few times items on the menu all really nice. Colouring for children as well to keep them entertained. Only thing they could offer is free child meal with adult meals like competitor cafes and we would visited more frequently

Bog standard breakfast which was OK for what you pay but would improve if the bacon hadn't been drying to the point where it was more like pig jerky. Staff friendy and do their best. Oh, if you like the smell of really stale urine be sure to use the toilets before you leave the store, eye watering experience..

This place is good for a min meal or just a cuppa. Many time their shopping and stop here for lunch, the hot table looks very inviting. It's a big Tesco so parking is usually ok, only seen it full at Christmas.

Faggots & Peas, Ham Egg & Chips. How can you make this combination equally as inedible, easy go to Tesco's Cafe in Neath Abbey. Nice coffee though. That's what I will be sticking to in Tesco's Cafe in Neath Abbey from now on!! But, check the cups for coffee stains on the outside and lipstick on the rim. We did and the check out cafe person agreed that it was disgraceful, as if she was a customer and not one of the staff that allowed this.

Tesco's have an excellent strong black coffee-very reasonably priced-just right after going round the store for ones shopping. The fruit toast is super too-lots of dried fruit. Would go to the Café again-it is a basic supermarket one-clean!

The food is basic, the portions generous and the place is adequate if you get peckish when doing your shopping and There is limited storage for trolleys. However, I would suggest you avoid the breakfast muffin. I have never had a crunchy muffin before, I tried it a second time on a subsequent visit believing that the first instance was a mistake but no, the second one was crunchy too.

Another disappointing visit to a tesco cafe. Why is it all Tescos serve vertually cold food. Also can anyone tell me where they justify the cost of these meals if you can call them that. There again it is Tesco after all so enough said!!!!!! Ok for a cuppa but nothing more.

Very poor selection, missed the breakfast option. Very overpriced on basic dishes, i.e. jacket potatoes, no salad option and from what I saw little veggie options too, will just have a coffee next visit

Cold meals. Unpleasant staff. No one will take responsibility. The place is simply awful and should not be included in a list of places to eat, let alone be classified as a 'restaurant'. It may be just about alright for a cup of coffee after a frantic shopping expedition, but expect no more.

Picture yourself on the morning of your birthday. You have just enjoyed breakfast in bed and are preparing to open your cards and gifts when your loved one delights you with the news that you will be treated to an unexpected evening meal. Then imagine your bemusement as you are driven to Tesco Neath Abbey where your other half cries, "Out you get then love - hope you're hungry."I'm sorry. I'm really not having a go at the previous reviewer whose comments are both measured and well written (I loved the part about the 'offensive' offal dumplings) and who made it quite clear that he was judging Tesco "in the field of supermarket cafes." It's just that seldom have I felt so torn between despair and hysteria as upon seeing Tesco Neath Abbey ranked as the 11th best restaurant in Neath. I don't know who to blame for this. Trip Advisor possibly for not having a separate section for cafes or supermarkets. Or perhaps Neath itself is at fault. Can there really be so few worthy alternatives to a cafe which is sided with 'trolley stables' (I have neither the knowledge nor the inclination to provide the correct term) and where you are overlooked by a dozen or so checkouts? Either way, please can someone do something about this for the sake of my sanity?

“Why on earth is he writing a review on a supermarket café?” you may ask. Well, it's simple. If you want a good value for money, well cooked, tasty meal quickly after you have done your shopping, or are just passing by on the adjacent A465 Neath – Merthyr road (or on the nearby M4), or even visited the nearby English Heritage ancient monument of Neath Abbey, then the café at Neath Abbey Tescos is thoroughly recommended. The food available is relatively imaginative – not just curries, shepherds' pie, jacket potatoes, chicken & chips etc but also piri piri chicken wraps and various paninis, whilst the Yoghurt Pots (with muesli topping and honey base) are superb. I often have the curry and it is not always the usual Rogon Josh etc on the menu as sometimes it features more unusual curries like Beef Malabar. And the curries are better than many a pub curry I have had.Today, I had “offal dumplings” (this is not what they are actually called in Wales but the Trip Advisor website refused to accept this name because in the US this name is a profanity!! The “offensive” name of this dish begins with “f” has two “g”s in the middle and ends with “ots”. So you'll have to work it out yourself). However, rather than the chips which it came with, I asked if I could have roast potatoes instead and this was done without hesitation. This is just a small example of the helpfulness of the staff here and this is what sets it apart from the many other supermarket cafés I have used over the years. The staff – without exception – are the friendliest, most helpful and pleasant people I have come across in such cafés and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them. They make eating here a real pleasure! In the field of supermarket cafés, Neath Abbey Tescos is definitely worth 5 stars.

Horrendous experience. Did an order online but when I got to drive through no order there even tho I showed the code and the app showing the order. Saw the manager who was useless and didn’t understand customer service just directed me to complain on the app!!! Wasted an hour and still no food. App is now deleted and will never go to Glynneath Macd again. Shambles!
